What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 72 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (58 of 140 positive).
Players say the game is fun local multiplayer but lacks online and single-player modes. [1][2][3] Some reviewers complain about missing features like an exit button and bot support. [4][5][6] A few players enjoy the frantic, social gameplay with friends in person. [7][8][9]

I felt the need to review this game, because I bought this in a bundle, read the (strongly negative) reviews, and played it anyways. I had two friends over and fired this up with me on the laptop, a logitech controller, and a wireless keyboard for our mixed controllers. And you know what? We had a lot of fun. No online multiplayer and no bots- these are two very common complaints. Having played the game, though, I …

May seem weird at first, but trust me, this game is AMAZING. Turn on big picture, plug up to a TV, grab a friend or three, and prepare for some crazy f***ing arena action. Think hyper-speed 1-hit-kill Super Smash Bros. with gravity switching. Old-school local multiplayer at its best. P.S. - Lots of people are ragging on the game for not having online multiplayer, but in my opinion the game wouldn't be nearly as fun …

Right out of the gate Gentlemen boxes itself in a corner. A local multiplayer only brawler, it requires a group (preferably of four) to crowd around the computer to even be able to play the game, which obviously alienates a good chunk of potential players. Assuming you can round up some friends however it's hard to imagine spending much time with these dapper little maniacs, as the amount of content is nowhere near …

This is the biggest piece of ♥♥♥♥ game I own. Thankfully i got it in a bundle as an extra and didnt spend a dime on it. There is NO online play There is NO single player There is no way I could see to exit the game besides task manager. Unless you want to crowd 2-4 of your friends in front of your keyboad and play local co op or play against a motionless oponent this game is worthless. I actually re installed this …

No single player and the multiplayer is only playable locally (4 people crowded around the same keyboard) and no exit game button (you have to Alt-F4 to leave the game). Very poorly designed.

Players who liked Gentlemen! talk about fun local multiplayer with friends; those who didn't talk about no online multiplayer. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
The iOS version received "favorable" reviews, according to the review aggregation website Metacritic. However, in August 2013, Gentlemen! sold 1,114 copies on iPad, and 144 copies on Android, which was below the desired amount of 2000 copies. The main reasons were attributed to a pop song known as "Gentleman", the discovery feature not favoring Gentlemen! and video game piracy from people primarily living in Russia and China (predominantly China).

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can only play this game with friends. I have friends. Well, I think I do. But my friends want to play with me from the comfort of their own home, and unfortunately this game does not support online multiplayer. ONLY RECOMMENDED IF... You live with your friends, or have family members that enjoy playing videogames featuring characters with facial hair.

neutral · AI labelView post →The main menu glitches out when I switch from "options" to "information". There is no "exit game" option. You literally have to CTRL+ALT+DELETE your way out. It's also a tremendous chore to play, even with someone else. Charging $10 for this broken, shallow garbage should be a crime. EDIT: It's $5 now, but it doesn't make this game any less loathsome.

neutral · AI labelView post →This review will be incredibly short as there's not much I can say about this title. Gentlemen! is a local multiplayer death match game where the goal is to kill your opponents. The game is four player and it's pretty fun game, but as stated before it's only local multiplayer, so unless you have friends who can come over to you and play it, there is next to no point in owning this game. While the game is fun I will say it could use a multiplayer setting would have helped a lot. As there's…

neutral · AI labelView post →Gentlemen is a game where you have to battle others in some sort of arena and though it could be a fun game if there was any bot support, sadly there is none. This game is only playable locally and since that's no option for me i can't really recommend this game to anyone except ofcourse if you got a couple of friends to come over but then again there are better games like this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is NO online play There is NO single player
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid local multiplayer fun. Better in large groups, entertaining with good company. Not complex in the slightest, easy to pick up and great for filling in time with friends. Ideally played when drunk.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Id like to play the game, really I would, but with no online multiplayer its not going to happen. Local online multiplay only, really dev? you expect to get 4 sets of paws on one keyboard to play. Might be a fine console game but the PC master race is not amused. Also, the external keybinding is rubbish and promptly ignored in game. Toss some modern coding into this and you might have a nice fun little gem.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game, perfect for lan party with friends.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Friends Simulator 2015 I don't have any friends 0/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not sure why the developer decided to charge $10 for a concept game. People who actually work for money in the games industry usually at least put in a single-player mode. Local co-op only is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. And by local co-op I'm not talking LAN, which would be a little better, but same PC. Maybe someone will play this if Steam ever revolutionizes how PC games are played on TV, but right now you're not going to get 4 people to crowd around a relatively small…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game because I had it on iOS. I have not seen any explanation for negative reviews, so I will put in my own input: PROS: Controller Support Local Multiplayer Unique Fighting Style Cons: Black Border around Map Ambiguous Quit Option Overall, just like the iOS one, I think this is a great game. It is witty, fast paced, and allows for up to 4 players for an all out brawl. Unfortunately, it is distracting how levels are surrounded by a large black border, but I am testing this on…

neutral · AI labelView post →I enjoy this game immensely. The main issues people seem to be having with this game are the lack of single player and online multiplayer modes. The whole idea is for this to be a social game, for there to be actual interaction with your friends (or strangers). Half the fun of this game is screaming like a banshee at someone as you try to knife them... Or as you will your pigeon to its final destination.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game sucks. Not recommended to anyone. There is no Singleplayer, No Bots, No Multiplayer via LAN/INTERNET, No Exit Button (Needs Alt+F4'd or killed from Taskmgr) Only useful in some homemade MAME arcade with controllers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is funny and highly addictive, and the idea itself is quite genius in its simplicity. However, it sadly doesn't have a single player mode nor online multiplayer, meaning you can only play with friends sitting next to you. And I don't really have friends. Or as much as people I would let into my room. Not that many anyway to be able to play this game any time I want and I want to play this game quite a lot because IT'S AWESOME - but I can't and that's frustrating. You can't even play…

neutral · AI labelView post →Nifty, but requires odd people hanging around your apartment. I do not have this odd physical DLC this game requires to be properly fun.

neutral · AI labelView post →The lads over at #Zzap! Towers were suitably impressed with Z and lavished a very high score of 88% on the game. 1985 Ladies and Gentlemen... 1985... Crazy. Also, FYI, the Zzap64 website has had a revamp. Go take a look. I am unsure if I prefer it or not! www.zzap64.co.uk/magazine/zza...
neutral · AI labelView post →Well, it wasn't difficult decission, even when I didn't really like the game at start. I decided that indeed I would not recommend this game, although I honestly think it may have potential, once they include: 1. LAN support and/or Online Vs. Modes. 2. More options as to increase the amount of deaths before the end game. 3. Succesfully put some story behind the characters. I hope this is taken in a constructive way.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If this game had online multiplayer, I'd be happy. But it lacks it, and is quite honestly only a decent game if you have a huge computer desk, or a flatscreen TV, and a giant keyboard. I give this game a 1/10, and hope the devs think a bit harder about putting a local co-op game on a PC (That ♥♥♥♥ don't work) Oh, also, there's no exit button, aside from Alt+Tabbing. Even the almighty Escape key doesn't work.
