Feel mixed about leaving a negative, because the game itself is really good, but it has one major flaw that really gets annoying. Inventory space. There's too many item types for such a limited inventory space, leading to a lot of town portaling, depositing, and teleporting back. This is a common enough mechanic in other arpgs, but this game really encourages picking up a Lot of different items for various reasons. …

Incredibly fun game that reminds me of Titan Quest and Diablo smashed together. Ghostlore is a 2023 indie ARPG that punches above its weight, with a fresh setting, responsive gameplay, and lean mechanics that support variety and depth with minimal gating. The setting is a slightly fantastic version of South East Asia in the 80s, primarily Singapore before it became a metropolis, with local spirits and monsters infesting the nearby islands, jungles, and caves. I'm a big time ARPG fan, I play them all. I like the style and atmosphere of this game, I love its originality, it did a lot things different and new and I applaud them for making an effort in making something unique with their own spin. The reason I can't recommend this game however is it feels a bit too convoluted in a way that really affected the way I enjoyed the game. The whole glyph system was really frustrating and not fun. Having to memorize or remember all 30-40 glyphs you have…

Short version: Diablo-like with some cool ideas but offensively terrible coop Long version: First of all do note that some people tend to be hyperbolic in their reviews for various reasons. I am not. The coop stuff really is exactly as bad as I'm describing. Let's get the good stuff out of the way first because it's quick. The game has a unique skill system where you apply passive modifications to your skills, somewhat akin to Path of Exile. A lot of your stats come from passive items that are…

I'm not going to deny that this is a weird ARPG in many ways, but not bad. I do, after all, enjoy those that deviated from the original Diablo 2 formula more, such as Titan Quest or Grim Dawn. This is more akin to those titles- as it uses a triple mastery system of sorts, and decided to handle loot and skills a little different, and sprinkle in some other mechanics. There's a lot I could go in to, but I think skimming over more things shallowly would do this game more of a justice. For two…

Strongly recommend. Very fun but somewhat buggy though the devs seem to be actively fixing and improving the game. General gameplay loop is good, abilities are cool, and the customization systems are awesome and very clever. The game kinda starts slow but as you get more skills and play around with the systems it quickly becomes an addictive power fantasy. I beat the story and it was fairly interesting. The ending had me wanting a bit more though. I look forward to trying the post game…

If there was in between Yes or No on recommendation I'd pick that but in the end I feel like I want my time back. I think there are issues with how clunky the UI is really its pretty rough .. You get lost using a controller, and whoever designed this does not understand comfort related moving around glyph's spells and equipping, and sorting inventory at all just feels dumb the way it was designed.. You really could do better with games like Noita, or some other game that sorts weapons like a backpack hero's format, which better and feels clean.. This is a very good, fast paced ARPG. You'll constantly be slaughtering your way through enemies with glorious results, bogged down by very little down time or unnecessary fluff. The skill system is unique, intuitive, and allows for a wide array of ways to turn your character into a murder-monster.

Game is incredibly good. I really hope the devs decide to add more content, because this is fantastic. The story is bare-bones, but the build progression and systems in place make for a great game. The only complaints I have are the following: 1) Classes need more skills / more classes added 2) More areas/monster variety 3) More interesting bosses If they tackled this and did something like seasonal content I'd literally pay for expansion packs regularly. The game really is that much fun.

While I would not consider this a huge or 1,000 hour game, it is an absolute delight and surely worth the $20 to play through. It was developed by a two man (brothers) team and was made with so much soul and love it shows in the game. Fun diablo-like, I like the progression, but I feel like whatever I spec into makes me feel like a glass cannon and it suddenly turns into a horror game of getting one-shot and jump scared by the death screen because the screen has too much going on at times. The build system is great, you get to take 3 Classes, customize how you want on a board and a Tetris like passives akin to Runewords in D2 on another board called Glyphs. After you create your character you get to choose two other classes through out the game letting you combine your skills. So many people are talking about this game like it's a min/max'ers dream but as a build god myself, I can tell you the "builds" are more like playing an annoying Tetris-type tetromino packing game. A neat little game. But not exactly exceptionally rewarding and deep*. Late game builds can end up being powerful, but awkward/unfun. *There's still lots of numbers to fiddle with and mechanics adding up to value totals, if that's your thing. I don't think your money would be poorly spent if you grabbed it on sale and were happy to get 10-15 hours of play out of a diablo-like.

Standard ARPG where you're given the option to make bad builds. I tried to play as a Summoner and both the birds and tigers are trash. Only Minion that did any damage were the flying blades. Much of the stats are unexplained and certain areas are overtuned. Has cool ideas that never get fleshed out, such as the Glyph and Skill tree. Both systems are so basic, all of the potential ends up being vapor. HARD PASS 5.5/10 (5 being average)

This game is good, albeit very short. I beat it in about eight hours at what I would consider a very low level (level 30) and that is because this is one of the most ridiculous power fantasy games out there. I haven't felt like that much of a living God in a while. It has an extremely unique character building system that allows you to create some ridiculously overpowered stuff extremely quickly. Personally, I stacked cooldown reduction, basic attack speed, and basic attack damage. Those three…

Another reason for me not to ever buy an early access game. I had high hopes for it. It started out fun, but holy moly, I have not a single clue how to play this game. I love ARPGs and I was really hoping for a gem from an indie studio. I hate the glyph system. I am constantly dying, like I cannot survive a single boss fight. It takes me 10s of hp potions and multiple attempts. I cannot determine when they are going to attack other than they are always attacking which makes trying to figure…

I've played Path of Exile, Last Epoch, Titan Quest, and Grim Dawn, yet I have to say Ghostlore is my favorite ARPG by far. I believe the main reasons have to do with ease of build customization, the style of the post-game, as well as the simplistic art-style. Build Customization The ability to combine three classes together makes for entertaining possibilities for build ideas, especially because it expands onto this by making the "build" system a grid-like format where you have to think…

This game took me by surprise. Well made and different setting which is fresh. Combat is great. Glyph system is unique. Hoping for more content, new class and the potential to Dual Wield.

It's insane that such a quality game has come from such a small team. AAA arpgs fail to have gameplay this smooth and fun. I appreciate being able to get to end game in just a few hours - there's little to no grind needed. The systems are intuitive but still have quite a bit of depth to them. You can completely break the game with some builds, and it's really easy to try new things and experiment. The art-style, music, and atmosphere are also great. It's refreshing to have such a unique world…

Can't recommend the game in the state its in now. There are skills and abilities that just don't work, take adept for example. one of their main draws is their ability to teleport once before death (or even ashwagathama's gem which lets you use youre skills once on fatal damage). ive been testing and neither of these effects trigger. ever. Same with adepts mana shield. sure that one works sometimes but there are alot of times when it just doesnt work and you end up getting killed despite having…

Love the skill and glyph system in this game. Itemization is fun and rewarding without being too complex. Like the balance of mindless mapping and then tryhard pushing hell tiers every once in a while in the end game. 100% recommend giving this a try. If you're a combo arpg fan and enjoyed kingdom hearts 358/2 days panel system you will love this. This is coming from a path of exile 1/2, last epoch, diablo 2/4 player.

Fun ARPG with a unique skill system. I wish there was more map and item variety, and a transmog system so I could change the way my character looks. Took around 8 hours to finish so I would recommend waiting for a sale before purchasing.

Great mechanics for building powerful character builds, interesting cultural source for world and creature design. Fun "dungeon crawlet loot game". End game has randomized missions to keep getting stronger and finding better equipment. Graphics have a fun old-school look but with the amount of effects, particles, summons, enemies and background items things can get muddy fast.

It's fun. Started out slow as a geomancer (I wanted to make a mage) Died a lot. Eventually set up spells to trigger on attack and unlocked sentinel. Mixing spells is fun still dying a lot. Then unlock adept as my third, play with the placement of everything and made an unstoppable mage that throws talismans that trigger 4 spells. Plus a shield that causes most damage to go to my mana. This game is great. it makes you work for it and encourages trying new things out. There are tool tips on…
