What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 185 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (334 of 372 positive).
Players describe it as a fun, silly Galaga-style shooter with charming art and humor. [1][2][3] Some find it repetitive and too simple, lacking lasting appeal. [4][5][6] The game is praised for its unlockables, tight gameplay, and low price. [7][8][9]

While Glorkian Warrior: The Trials of Glork is something mildly fun to load up for a quick round, so are a lot of free mobile games. What I am trying to say is that fact alone doesn't take it out of the shovelware category. I don't see any reason to recommend anyone to buy this or really dump time into it mainly because it is too simple, and the upgrades you earn aren't potent enough. I'm not sure why the reviews …

Oh my gosh! This game is SO much fun. Its like I'm six years old with a pocket full of quarters! Its cute and quirky and totally old school. Best 4 dollars I ever spent. :)

Edit: After spending some more time with the game, it does feel repetitive after a while, and the enemies become more bullet spongey which is unfortunate. Still, it's a fun game for a few hours. I love the shmup genre- R-type, 1943, U.N. Squadron, Thunder Force, Gradius V, Eschatos, Deathsmiles...the list goes on and on. But I never liked Galaga/Galaxian. Ever. Ship controlled slow, no powerups, very repetitive, no …

This is a fantastic Galaga style game with the art style and humor of James Kochalka, of American Elf fame. Galaga has been my favorite game since an Atari controller hit my hand in 1988, and I've gotta say- 'Glorkian Warrior' is the only game since then in the genre that I've had nearly as much fun with. This game is *that good*. It's been years since a game made me WANT to get better at it (and I have, I actually …

This game was reviewed using a code sent by the developer. Glorkian Warrior is reminds me slightly of alien invaders. You are in control of the alien Glork, and you are protecting your asteroid from invading aliens. The game play is simple. Run around and shoot the aliens. You find that you are shooting constantly and bare no control over that, all you have to do is move around the level avoiding the rockets, rocks …

neutral · AI labelView post →I love a good shootem'up, and this is one of the better pick up and play shmups on Steam. I love how you don't even have to press the fire button. The game auto fires for you. All you have to do is move and jump. The devs clearly knew what they were doing, because in any normal shmup, there's never a reason to take your thumb off the fire button. Lottsa power ups, random events like falling exploding basketballs, delightfully retro sound effects, and a good sense of progression through…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great arcadey shooter title. It is a mix of galaga/galaxian with a platforming twist. There is a variety of weapon upgrades and enemy types. It is fairly repetitive but addictive as a good shump should be. The game follow an alien and his backpack laser as they kill aliens. I am unsure why they are killing aliens, but as in all games aliens are better dead then alive. It has some simple progression as you unlock achievements, items and new enemy types as you continue to play. Difficulty is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Based on a graphic novel: The game is based upon James Kolchaka’s graphic novel ‘The Glorkian Warrior Delivers a Pizza.’ Kolchaka is the first resident of Vermont, a state in the New England region of the United States, to win the Laureate for best cartoonist. neutral · AI labelView post →Thanks! In addition to the Glorkian Warrior music album there's also a Glorkian Warrior video game, three Glorkian Warrior graphic novels and three Glork Patrol graphic novels. So...lots of Glork!
neutral · AI labelView post →It's good, silly fun - even challenging, if you decide to down some coffee and see how long you last. Game runs smooth, it doesn't take alot of memory, and it's under $5. I can't think of much to complain about honestly, except once you unlock everything the only content left is to try to beat your highest score or wipe your file to feel the progress again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is cool but the achievements are absolute trash and utter garbage and require you to pour over 30 hours (I only did 13 and STILL nowhere near some of these horrid achievements)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pixeljam turns into chef-d'oeuvre whatever genre they are having a go at. This is no exception : here is the Galaga clone to end all Galaga clones! It features awesome art, incredible sound design, a cheery and absurd atmosphere, and even great characters! The gameplay is as tight as in old coin-op shooters, and even if you aren't highscore chasing (which you should), there is plenty of wacky unlocks to pursue. Every second you play go toward that progress, which is always a nice touch of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glorkian Warrior: The Trials Of Glork (AKA: That game where psychedelic crackers revitalise your flame thrower's juice) Oh my, how can such a simple game be so fun? Proper retro feel to this one, ie, formations of creatures shooting at you in true Space Invaders style. The fun and imaginative upgrades [I'm a sucker for upgrading ♥♥♥♥, and I know you are too so don't lie] get collected, and act, in a way that's very similar to the upgrade system from Contra. Lovely tongue-in-cheek humour…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the silly art direction, but inconsistent design choices and enemy behaviour make this a bad game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very simple old school game but maybe to simple. There is not that much progession or anything that will keep you playing, you shoot for couple minutes and then wonder why, why I am playing this, bigger score? ok, but this is not enough for me, I want something more than hundreds of simplest free flash games all over web can give me. It's fun but not enought to keep me for more than couple minutes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing space-shooter that blends Galaga and platforming elements with a slight roguelike twist. Art by comic artist James Kochalka is perfect!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A super fun and kinda silly space invaders/bullet hell game. I had great fun playing this game. Its simple, colourful and lots of fun. Highly recommended and the super cheap price is a bonus!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is very similar to space invaders, but it has a twist. Each time you play is different (or seems different) so it's challenging to even get to a boss. Talking about bosses, they're very unique and have different abilities and figuring out ways to defeat them is very nice. The game is also very silly and cartoony which I love! I would recommend this game to ayone who likes arcade and good art-styles. Here's me playing the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YPbWb3XfFM
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even if you don't much care for arcade-style games like Space Invaders you should give Glorkian Warrior a try. At the very least you'll get a good laugh. It's surprisingly addictive too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game for both kids and adults!

positive · AI labelView post →Sometimes... simple art is the best... this is very true for Glorkian Warrior. So simple yet a masterpiece among wannerbees. This is one of my favorite games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →insane grind to unlock the most basic things move left, move right, and a jump almost never used, thats the entire game 98% of play time is afk card farming into the hidden game abyss with you!!!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game to play during depressive episodes. Cute art style, nice background music, and simple gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Think Galaga meets Space Invaders meets 2017. The graphics are adorable. The music is catchy without being annoying. The humor is abundant. I LOVE the kid's voices announcing power upgrades. Everything about this game is hella amazing. WHY DON'T YOU HAVE IT YET?!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This can be a fun game but that fun will wear off after a little bit. It's a shmup in the style of space invaders. I unlocked all the little changes it adds to the game but it really never made much of a difference. I don't feel any need to continue any more with the game. Many of the remaining achievements are insane and would require a lot of hours playing which I just can't do. It might be worth picking up on a sale for under a dollar but nothing more. Other than that I just can't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun little Galaga-inspired arcade game. Definitely containing stylistic inspirations of the classic Galaga arcade game, this was an enjoyable arcade game with many levels, aliens, and bonuses. The aliens fly out in Galaga-esque flight patterns, taking place in the sky with a playing field that spans approx 2 screens wide making it somewhat unique. Blowing up aliens quickly earns you more perks -- double lasers, fireballs, glorf gun, and such -- and also causes the aliens to drop "crackers"…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →★★★☆☆ △ great sounddesign, colorful and very fitting graphics style, great characters, many unlockables (that most of the time don't make any sense, but they're funny at least) ▽ language settings don't save, gets repetitive fast (obviously, but not fast enough for me) A nice arcade game with great characters. It's fun for a few hours. I enjoyed it! ★★★☆☆
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glorkian Warrior: The Trials Of Glork has so many things that make it fun and challenging. It has creative and colorful designs, a pace not-too-fast and not-too-slow to make it playable for anyone, and goofy characters. Most importantly-the lasers!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fully featured Galaga clone, if you're into that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The jumping mechanic is way too floaty. You need to jump way ahead of enemies to hit them, and the sensitivity of movement mid-air is too high. The variety of colors looks great, but oftentimes you cannot visually parse what is an enemy bullet and what is a consumable - mistaking the former for the latter will be how you'll lose health most of the time. RNG will lead to dry spells in power ups, which will default back to your basic gun, which will prolong the drought of powerups. It's a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my toddler's favorite game. The autofire mechanic allows her to focus on jumping and moving left and right. A very good Space Invaders clone with stylized cartoon graphics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →That game is not for me, i did not like it. Long-short history: too simple and childish that I could not stick to play it. Remembered me of a lot of flash games that I used to play when as a kid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's rare to find a fun casual game that has this much charm. it's in my top 10 games on Steam for sure.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Combining Space invaders gameplay with some weird dialog/monologue and you get this. Surprisingly entertaining for quick game sessions. RNG ensures every game play is different and as you progress you unlock new weird RNG stuff so for it's price you sure get a lot of this uh.... galaga with talking weird thingies.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: -Overwhelmingly addictive gameplay -Good soundtrack -Great cartoony graphics -Simple in-game humor -Achievements -Trading Cards -Controller support -Simple but excellent controls Cons: -Despite the addictiveness, game can be repetitive at times Additionnal infos: -Low-specs computer friendly: Yes -Hardware Requirements: Low -Difficulty: Mostly Easy -Game's overall relevance: Very recommended
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has one of those intense retro feel with a little dash... wait no a big dash of weirdness. but hold on isnt weird bad? not for this game. 10/10 still continue to play it when the internet goes down. nice work.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glorkian Warrior: The Trials Of Glork is a smooth and solid Galaga clone with a bit of it's own unique, modern Cartoon Network like flair. Like Galaga, it is both easy and deceptively hard if you make a mistake, which can lead to multiple plays if you're engaged by the gameplay and are intested in the unlocks that change up bonus waves. You're not missing anything by not playing it, but you're getting a fun and potentially valuable game if you decide to purchase it Glorkian Warrior wasn't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ achievements in a luck based gameplay game. 1/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glorkian Warrior: The Trials Of Glork: Or Flarf it, I've got the cracker madness.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty fun pick-up-and-play game, with a slow grind of pickups and "quests". The game is definitly held together by its humorous dialogue (Toe Jam & Earl meets Adventure Time?), but the re-interpretation of Space Invaders gameplay isn't bad. How fun can a game like this be? Probably just a few-dollars-fun, being that it's more of a 20-minutes-a-day game, and not an hours-on-end, grind'y game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty sweet arcade game with lots of satifying bleeps/bloops and a fun art style and some charming humour. It's even a sort of rougelite game, something I believe fits perfectly for arcade style games of today. Seeing as it's all about replay value and what better way than to have unlockables and randomized elements for more variety. That's all really. What you see is what you get and a maybe little more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this game for free in a steam key giveaway, and to be honest, most of the games in giveaways are just there to farm steam trading cards or just to boost your game count. Nobody really plays them, but Glorkian is one of those surprise games that are actually not that bad, and quite interesting to play! I really enjoy the game, it's one of those classic indie games that reminds me of space invaders from the old Nokia phone games. I like the comical aspect of the game as well, it's a game to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has some originality - that is, instead of being a 2D retro pixel shooter, it's a 2D retro art class dropout shooter. Game runs in windowed mode without any applicable graphics settings whatsoever, but that's fine, I wouldn't like to see it enlarged enough to fit my screen anyway. Gameplay is a ripoff of Galaga. Art style is high school level. This looks and feels like someones C graded product from a computer game design class. Obviously not worth buying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →SCIENCE IS MAGIC! Glorkian Warrior = Galaga + Buster Bros + Neon Radioactive Splorchium No, there is no real Neon Radioactive Splorchium, but it conveys the type of sensibility this game has. That retro, goofy sci-fi of Spaceman Spiff, Commander Keen, and Buck Rodgers kinda schtick. It's silly and cute and if those two words just made you throw up a little, then this ain't the game for you. As to the gameplay, it most closely resembles Galaga or Space Invaders. Enemies fly out in patterns…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am actually enjoying this game. It is a mixture of the arcade styled shooters like space invaders in style of like a Futurama mini game or something. The more you play, more unlockables are available and the game grows in challenge with you. I am quite addicted.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really strange game, applicable only to the fans of the comic i guess. Feels like the sound, music, visual style and voice acting are from different games. Gameplay is as awkward as the style. The humor attempts between restarts felt really blunt. The overall feeling is like you're trying to appreciate lame application by a 40 year old idiot. The only good thing is that it didn't give an achievement for just killing your first enemy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's tough to be Glorkian warrior, but it's fun. A round will take around 5 minutes, very good game if you have 5 minutes break and you want to have fun the gameplay is simple, but there are alot of twist inside this game recommended!
