This game lives and dies by its theming. The game in a purely mechanical sense is very ok. If it were focused on just that I would have dropped it after a couple hours. But Aggro Crab's ability to link everything into jokes and commentary about the oppressive corporate work culture is immaculate, and it kept me laughing through the credits. Absolutely recommend if you're looking for satire against corporate work …

Critics, per Wikipedia

In a positive review for Nintendo World Report, Jordan Rudek praised the workplace setting of the title, writing that "The story and world of Going Under provide a compelling backdrop for what is essentially a roguelite dungeon-crawler." Rudek also liked the accessibility settings offered to the player, "A variety of accessibility options, such as increased health and longer invincibility after getting hit, can help less experienced applicants, too." Nintendo Life's Henry Stockdale enjoyed the game's satire of corporate culture, "At the heart of any satire is a political message, and behind this colourful visual presentation, Going Under communicates its own message with consistency."…

Pretty much never crashes or bricks itself Not terribly resource intensive Fun for at least an hour and a half Le reddit humor You can just toggle on the "assist" mode in the main menu once you get tired of dealing with all the bad game design choices. I really wanted to like this game, and even pushed myself into playing it further than I normally would have after I initially got bored. But, there is just something about this game that does not work for me. The art style is great, and the humour and writing are pretty good, but when it comes down to it, the gameplay is just boring. Everything could be a ten out of ten, music, characters, world building, etc. (and they are all good) but without an actual fun, solid base to build off of, it…

Going Under is a fun roguelike that is a cynical game wrapped in a bubbly corporate slop parody artstyle, harkening back to the times where people could actually find internships. The gameplay is fun, making the most of its weapon durability system by allowing you to basically use anything thats not nailed down and within arms reach to be a weapon to swing, shoot, or throw. Im addition to that, there are powerups you gain throughout the game and the abilities you unlock by bonding with your…

It's fine. Fun, even. The concept is great, the characters are funny, the art is nice. But it feels like there's a real disconnect within the gameplay. On one hand, everything is a lot. Things are on fire and/or exploding most of the time. You'll stack so many abilities that you no longer recognise yourself or your surroundings. It's goofy and cartoonish. On the other, your health is a precious resource and you need to be careful. Even with assist mode on, I felt like I was being slowly…

The art is beautiful, taking the corporate art styles into a game was genius. Using workplace objects as weapons fulfills a fantasy I and many others have had. It has its moments, but its humor is filled with dated memes and references. It's painfully unfunny and the characters lack depth. Half of the content is repeated (The game is copy and pasted twice). Balance is garbage. Entire rooms explode at once, and enemies attack from all directions int he late game. Maps are often covered in…

I won't refund the game because it was only a few bucks, but the gameplay mechanics are indie to a fault. Getting knocked down and staying down because enemies can repeatedly attach you without the opportunity to dodge is a poor design decision. Just because you offer an obtainable perk to mitigate this doesn't make the experience nay more enjoyable when it at a base level it is flawed.

first half is good but after that becomes extremely obnoxious giving shields often multiple to pretty much all enemies which just kills durability on your weapons. end boss is ass. the imposter mode you can unlock in the second half is the only meaningfully randomized part in the game, all the other dungeons are very similar every time and there isn't enough variety outside of that. art style carries entire game hard.

Aside from its witty dialogue and sharp satire of corporate culture, there's very little here that I can genuinely praise. As an action roguelike, the game falls flat. The controls feel surprisingly clunky and unresponsive, making combat more frustrating than satisfying. Things get even worse when large groups of enemies can effectively stun-lock you, meaning a single bad room generation can completely ruin an otherwise promising run. I'm leaning more towards a maybe but slightly on the negative side. This is a short game, I personally finished it in 2.8hrs with about 30mins of cutscenes which were okay but not some LoTR level writing or anything. There's 3 dungeons, quite well themed, and the gameplay loop is decent but the combat isn't really deep and fun, it's okay I guess. Nothing really stands out. It frustrates me to give this one a thumbs down as i love the concept, art style, the upgrade progression, and the fact that everything can be used as a weapon but the core combat sucks. slow and clunky movement, when you are ganged up on its basically a death sentence as you can't dodge away, charge up attacks don't work half of the time causing you to try multiple times for it to work properly, maps are too small when there is more than three enemies, its rare that you get to into a bigger…

It's worth giving a go if you get it on sale, you like the genre, and you play on controller. The art direction is really good with a sprinkling of poor accessibility choices (e.g. the fuzzy font on the main GUI was definitely more style over legibility) but the keyboard controls are abysmal. The combat is the most buckass janky experience and not satisfying in any way. On the surface Going Under is a fantastic game. Just going by looks alone the game is S tier. The style is appealing and creative, and the references in the names are spot on. The culture of some familiar groups is pretty well parodied within the 3 dungeons, and there's an ever present corporate world attitude that a lot of people will be able to relate to. The game follows an unpaid intern as she takes on 3 themed dungeons while obtaining combat skills and doing tasks to earn mentor support.…

It's not a king of the Rougelike genre but it is a solid little game. This game is so fun! I am new to dungeon crawlers or these hybrid arcade style. I'm not really used to anything besides increasing the characters strength/weapons/stats. This asks for you to improve your skill level after every run (based on memorization). At first I was like no hecking way. As a fan of Hades I have this to say: if you loved Hades you'll definetely like this game. Going Under has no voice acting, just Undertale style beeps and boops. Even so, the characters are awesome and fun and keep you going so you can see the next set of interactions with them. That carrot is crucial in those early stages when you have few upgrades unlocked and you get frustrated because you don't know how certain enemies or mechanics work yet and you feel like you're taking more damage…

Love the charm, the game is very funny, and the charm almost saves the game for me. So many good jokes are in this game, but the "game" part of the game is so poorly designed that it feels like I'm an intern rather than playing as an intern. To summarize, combat feels weak and sluggish, I'll often find myself trapped in attack animations before I can dodge roll and will take damage that didn't feel earned. The Enchanted Library is now open over on Twitch! Sorry I'm late, fatigue hit me hard today agan. Today I am diverting from the game on the schedule. Instead of Going Under I'll be playing more Dressmaker since I need a chill game to relax from all the moving stress. #MarisolLive #ENVtuber

Going Under was Aggro Crab's debut in the game development world. Every one of their games is so creative and cool with theming, and looking at Going Under it's no wonder these are the devs that brought us Another Crab's Treasure and PEAK. The art style here builds off of the corporate slop known as corporate memphis, the sort of character designs that are minimalistic and generic that everyone makes fun of. Going Under uses this art style in order to be a satirical roguelite that pokes fun at…

The game "Going Under" has a cursed dating app startup called Winkydink. It's hell/imp themed and you can only talk in emojis. Being a little 😍 face imp with a big mascot head and being unable to speak, maybe with other imps jabbing my monobutt with a pitchfork? Yeah baby that's the good stuff.

Today for @papabarks.bsky.social, we're heading back to a time when tech bros and corporations were (just a little) more bearable with Going Under, Aggro Crab's first game! #GoingLive #FurryLive #Furry #PNGTuber #Twitch #PapaBarks www.twitch.tv/mkcyborg

Banger for every Buck!!! Nice rogue lite based on overworked employees during the lockdown period, completely related. For anyone who loves to beat the game 100% with a chalange, the game is nice and short, Must buy game on sale

Low key one of my fave games. Fun fighting beat-em-up style action, cute bite sized story and nice art. It´s both frustrating and relaxing at the same time (bit of a souls-like energy), but when you get into it time flies. Nice pickup at reasonable price during sales. Only complaint is the unfixed bugs you encounter during overtimes (6-7 mostly). It´s been years since the game was patched so there is little chance it gets fixed. If not for that I would give the game 9/10, but with the…
