Ai is being used blatantly for the ingame art. This is already bad in itself but, on top of this, it is absolutly not disclosed anywhere on the front page.

For now, it looks stable, smooth and fluid. Some needed QoL has been added, and some is still painfully missing, such as moving buildings after placing them, this is especially annoying when now extensions and expansions to them can be added, making your workyard need frequent organising. There are things about it that are very flawed though, I think focusing the game so hard on zombies as opposed to the first game and then putting so many restrictions on them was a bad call in my opinion, but I think there are some number that could be moved around to perhaps make the experience better, the core underneath is good. I hope to eventually replace this review with a positive one as I do think this game is better than the original in a lot of ways and I have been having fun with it, but there's some technical and QoL issues that are badly kneecapping it and leading to a very frustrating transition into the late game. And for some reason, a lot of indie devs have been saying reviews are a great place for feedback, so here it goes. Edit 1: Some points have been removed from the review due to being fixed. Edit…

I loved the first game so it kills me to not recommend this one. The first game was tedious to the point it was borderline enjoyable at times, but this one crosses into grueling territory. It's the small things, really, all of which could be easily fixed with a couple patches, most of which hover around production. My biggest gripe is with the automated/time based production, like ovens and furnaces. In the first game, you could craft huge batches of iron bars, let's say, and collect them all…

I might even craft the tool 6. By now, I’ve definitely forgotten why I crafted the tool in the first place 7. I stand around for a bit and do something completely different I love this game.

As someone who loved the first Graveyard Keeper and played it all the way through at least 3 times, I was out of my mind to find out they were making a sequel. I downloaded the demo, preordered the game on sale, the whole 9. I liked the demo very much and was excited for launch today. While it's nice to be back in this familiar world, I can't get over some of the choices they made. There are things that are significant step backs from the first game and many choices feel like artificially…

TLDR: GK1 better. Graveyard Keeper 2, while not specifically worthy of a refund, feels like a chore. I unironically shut off the game several times to do irl chores and work as a better way of spending my free time instead of playing this. GK2 is a game about managing a town full of annoying manbabies with 0 personality traits besides being infuriating, boring and straight up punchable. Sard! Today I've already had a talking donkey give me corpses, I drained them of blood and fat, buried them in shabby graves, commited identity fraud, harassed the locals in my local village and slowly went insane whilst having conversations with a talking skull - then I booted up Graveyard Keeper 2, which is like the first game, only bigger in scope and has voice acting. 9/10.

I've seen some mixed reviews for the game, so I wanted to say my piece, even if it's into the void. (FYI, this will talk about gameplay, not the story. I feel your opinion on the story of Graveyard Keeper is based HEAVILY on who you are and how tolerant you are to unskippable cutscenes. Personally, I love the story and writing, but I get like 80% of my enjoyment from the gameplay) Graveyard Keeper was one of the best games I have ever played. I loved the first game and the gameplay in this one is good but two issues: 1st. My game got soft locked due to a bug with the crematorium. Hoping for a patch to fix this. 2nd. They clearly used AI to generate the art for their cutscenes. It’s jarring to see terrible ChatGPT comic style art jammed into a game that looks, mostly, lovely between cut scenes. The devs should be disclosing this up front for everyone. Disappointing to see such dishonesty. You can decide for yourself if it’s…

Finally, a game that doesn't force me to go on dates, pick favorite colors or talk to villagers about their feelings. Here, if someone has a problem, you just cut out their brain, extract their fat to fix their skull rating and throw them onto a logging sawmill forever. Highly therapeutic. 10/10.

I was looking forward to this game, It's sad to see that the devs succumb to the alure of this horrible AI monster looming over all of us. Looks like the artists who did cut scenes have either been under too much time pressure or lost confidence in their capability to create, either way, I would be ashamed. Just the mental gymnastics you'd have to do, to trace something just to hide what it really is, and then think you're not doing something wrong. and the gall to place those right after cut…

This game doesn't know what it wants to be. On the one hand, it's about building automation using lots of zombies as workers, and collecting as much faith points as possible to spend on almost everything in the game for some reason. (honestly, too many things have a faith cost) Then you get punished for having lots of zombies by severely limiting how much faith you can generate. Oh sure, there's a PR campaign you can run repeatedly to temporarily raise your limit of zombies before you get…

I just thought that I'll wait just a little bit longer to make sure the experience stays the same... and it suddenly changed when the factory mechanic came into play. Let me start by saying that this game has serious identity crisis and doesn't know what it wants to be at its' core, because it's "jack of all trades and master of none". I genuinely regret buying this game. Maybe it'll improve in the future, but at the moment I honestly have no idea what the game developers were thinking. I wasn't the biggest fan of the first game as I felt it was unfocused and there was too much forced tedium involved. This game improves on some things while making others worse. If you're thinking about buying it, I'd instead just keep an eye on it and see what improves because these developers do not have a track record of listening to their…

As many others have said, the first two thirds of the game are really good. Then the giant stack of pain points just builds and builds. - Farming prioritises the weakest seeds you have for some reason, which means if you accidentally leave 4 bad seeds in, it will pollute your entire farm. - no compost automation - Constantly having to empty farm of useless stuff - Town vendors treating tiered items as completely different to one another, so to upgrade from tier 1 to 2 can take Tier 1 grape…

As far as resource management games go, this is one of the most tedious I've ever played. Which is a shame cuz I love the art style and humor. But the core of the game is "How tedious can we make it for the player." to the point where I have an abundance of iron, but I cannot do anything with it because I spent faith unlocking fast travel points instead of paying to claim achievements I've did such as "smelt x iron bars" so I can increase mastery to actually work with it. It honestly doesn't seem that much different from the first game, which I loved playing when I was younger, the new level system sucks and the faith currency makes gameplay so much slower for no reason. If I need to level something up to progress, I shouldn't have to wait 2 in-game weeks to get enough faith to level up. I'll still wind up only needing the thing I leveled up for, for a day or two, then I have to wait another 2 weeks to get more faith. Also, the devs stated they didn't use…

Love the game so far. It reminds me of stardew valley but with no women? Which sucks as I am a female and like to play as a female. Hopefully they fix that issue. I also think they could make more of the characters interactive. There are plenty walking around but you can not speak or interact with them. It was just released so I expect they will update everything but I like where it is headed.

If you're on the fence I'd say buy GK1 first and play that. GK2 does nothing to shake up the first game's formula and this is both it's strength and weakness. If you don't like the first game the second does absolutely nothing to change that. The Good: Durability system was removed. Most NPC's no longer have a daily schedule and are always available. The teleportation system was dramatically fleshed out, there's dramatically more options to make way for shortcuts. The prayer system isn't…

Currently the game is so full of bugs many aspects are unplayable or broken. My garden zombie automation only works half the time with the Vineyard 100% not working. Now I have encountered a game breaking bug with the battle when it spawns me in a location I cannot move out from and am unable to win even with cheating. My game is now over because I cannot progress any further and my auto saves do not go back far enough to make the decision to fight the battles in a different order.

Like for example, I had no idea what the purple bar in the Energy section was supposed to represent because the game never told me. Unfortunately, this feels more like Graveyard Keeper 1.5 rather than a sequel. Even with the better the graphics, additional voice acting, and stronger "isekai" storyline, this entry lacks a lot of the QoL improvements I was hoping to find in this second attempt at making the exact same game. For example, adding in the ability for chests to share resources among the different areas of your base would cut down on the tedium of moving stacks of basic materials around massively. farming sim. Restoring and managing the graveyard is fun, slowly building up not only your base but the town as well was great. However, the pacing and systems are flawed, they feel like they are in EA. About 35% of the gametime was wasted due to lacking QoL and unreasonable friction. There’s a lot more guidance on wtf you’re meant to be doing, the skill tree is actually intertwined and forces you to actually do things and talk to people, the smaller map, the keeper moves quicker, so on so forth. The voice overs are also a really cute addition!! I thought I would enjoy this as a Stardew Valley and Factorio fan, but I could not have been more wrong. I can't even remember the last time a game was this antagonistic to the player. It expects an eidetic memory and infinite patience for pointless grinding.

I played and loved Graveyard Keeper, even buying it on multiple different platforms. This is not Graveyard Keeper. It has a couple of minor quality of life improvements, with faster movement speed, fast travel options etc. It starts out great. Feels like a proper sequel to the first but then you hit the mid game and suddenly you're playing an unintuitive automation game with no explanation. The weekly cycle that existed from the first game becomes a punitive slog, it made sense the first…

Edit: Several progress blocking bugs exist that prevent you from completing story battles and thus unable to progress in the game. Strongly do not recommend this game at this time. It's clear it needs a good 6 more months of time in the oven. I Wish I Liked Graveyard Keeper 2 More I really wish I liked this game more. I loved the first Graveyard Keeper, although I certainly had my problems with it too. Unfortunately, many of those problems remain in GK2, while some new ones have been…

First day playing and I must say it is pretty damn good. Starting off, I am relieved to say that the mechanics from the previous game transferred pretty well, and the new stuff and changes are fitting in just fine, although i will admit the mastery can be a bit of a standstill if you neglect the challenges. The city battles are pretty fun, although I've only done the first two, the strategy element of managing banners is a pretty neat feature. A lot of the new building and customization…

It’s easy to notice that the majority of positive reviews have barely an hour of gameplay. I’m here to tell you that this game runs like crap even on low settings. Barely 15 fps and it’s killing my eyes. Steamdeck verification really needs to be taken away.

I want to recommend it, because at it's core there is a good game, but I absolutely can't. The first game was an absolute nightmare to complete, and this one is the same. But worse of a slog. Sisyphus had an easier task. The start is good, you have your energy to manage but then they throw on some insanity that you build up due to doing either a lot of labor or picking bodies apart. But after 100 days of picking bodies apart, you'd imagine you'd be a little more numbed to it. Thankfully you…

This game is like downloading virtual heroin. It has a wildly varied game loop in which every square inch of the game world has something to do. You'll find your time and life draining away doing just one more thing, one more thing, until you're begging for mercy, with every task giving you the sense of progression in some form...which makes it that much harder to put down. And that's the rub. This is the type of game that is designed from the very first line of code to be pure liquid crack.…

I really want to like this game, but I just find it too disorganized and lacking the quality of life touches that would make this game shine. Keeping track of what you need to build X is my largest complaint about this game, it really needs a todo list. Like a checkmark next to each item I can click to add it to a shopping list of sorts. My desk is covered in sticky notes because I have to write down all the required mats for w.e I'm working on. If I don't write things down I end up having to…

I do enjoy this game, but I cannot recommend it If inconsistencies in game mechanics, contradictory information, and incredibly important features being hidden behind information you'll never find without Googling are things that will frustrate you, save yourself the stress and play something else. I put many hours into this game with the dream of eventually having a fully automated base, with zombies and machines working together in unison. The reality is that it's far more efficient to…

Once again they released an untested Beta with incredibly obvious bugs (some game breaking as of posting of this review), bad designs, non existant explanations of features, obviously missing content (Perks for zombies and players and spots in machines that do not have any function) and Issues that existed and annoyed in part 1, EIGHT YEARS AGO. Buy on sale in a couple of months, then check which mods to use to get an actually good game. This is a shameful display of greed, there´s no…

Note: I did not play the first game. I can't recommend this game at the moment. Perhaps it's due to my lack of knowledge from the first game, but it feels like the game throws a plethora of systems at me without taking the time to explain enough for me to understand. The tutorials are lacking in details, which I would be alright with if they were accompanied by a more in-depth compendium of things to reference. I've spent my time scratching my head about things such as how to increase…
