What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 190 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (2,082 of 2,577 positive).
Many players find the game relaxing and charming, with beautiful graphics and world-building. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the gameplay becomes repetitive and tedious over time. [4][5][6] Several players report game-breaking bugs, including crashes when claiming rewards, with no developer fixes. [7][8][9]

This game makes me sad. It feels soulless. There's so many great things here. The music, the graphics, and the creature designs are all really charming. The dialogue is pretty cute. The world crafting is an interesting idea. The management aspect, while barebones, is okay. Ultimately the game is shallow and fails to flesh out its own mechanics. First of all, I have to mention the crashes. The game has a tendency to …

This Game has been great for my anxiety, watching myself create worlds from nothing and seeing the animals and bugs come back is really satisfying. I wish there were more cause after a while, you get sick of seeing the same things, but yeah, really love this game.

After burning out on hack-and-slash intensity, I wanted something completely opposite, slower, exploratory, and restorative. Grow: Song of the Evertree delivered exactly that. First and foremost: exploration. Exploring the worlds, caves, puzzles, and hidden areas is genuinely top-notch. It’s relaxed without being boring, engaging without being stressful. I’m an exploration-first player, and this game consistently …

It's a mid game, to be honest. The concept is super cute, and the worlds can be cute, but the actual game play is the same thing over and over again. You pull plants, plant them, water them, and on to the next. It is cute that you can customize your own world, build up villagers, and Grow. It's not an all bad game, just the repetativeness gets to you quickly. (I've played about 100 hours of this on playstation as …

neutral · AI labelView post →Was enjoying it, very simple but charming and was keeping me entertained. Then I claimed the reward for a quest after adopting an animal, and the game immediately locked up and crashed, losing all unsaved work. I go to the forums... and see this bug has been plaguing people since at least 2022 with no change or resolution. The dev apparently has no intent on ever fixing this huge bug that's been causing issues for the past 3+ years. Do not recommend at all.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cozy, cute crafting/farming game that's nice to get lost in. I was having fun until about 10 hours in where I came across a bug that freezes the game when you go to "claim the reward" after completing a task. I even restarted the game a couple different times, completed the same task but went off and did other things instead of claiming the reward right away and when I went back and retried claiming the reward after waiting for 30 minutes the game froze again... Absolutely unacceptable,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: The stylized art is pretty. Cons: This game does a LOT of hand holding. Instead of trying to figure stuff out for yourself it's constantly reminding you of what to do. You cannot turn the tutorials off and they cannot be skipped. You don't have a long time to do much before your day runs out and you are force appear back home. I tried to give this game a shot
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun in a more simple manner, however certain bugs with no dev support make this completely not worth buying. I used to have issues when I last played in 2022 with the game randomly crashing at specific points (like when completing a task/accepting rewards) and stopped playing since the game wouldn't even launch. It's now 2026, went to launch the game expecting maybe something had been fixed to make this playable and the game still doesn't launch at all. The developers haven't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't think I've ever said no to recommending a game—but I think I have to this time. I did read some reviews saying the gameplay loop is boring and repetitive, but I also saw plenty of people who really enjoy the game. So, I bought it. Unfortunately, I just found it boring. If a gameplay loop is fun, then sure—I'll do it over and over. But it's just not here. All you do is chop trees, pull weeds, plant the same seed… and you do that every single day until you're done. Then you move on to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very boring game due to the lack of any story beyond whats given to you at the start, repetitive and uninteresting tasks, shallow and overly-kid friendly dialogue. There is no sense of progression, exploration and discovery kept giving wallpapers and hairstyles, and has no impact or improve in your available actions.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not sure how others are pleased with the mechanics of the game, but I will try to sumarise my 0.3h playthrough: - You create a character and watch unskippable dialogue between 2 NPCs and you - You get tool items that you have to scroll through - You scroll to select an axe to clear the door - You walk to a structure to put a saddle on an animal (?) - You get a new "small world" you have to restore. !!! Now pay attention: - You walk to a plot, scroll to select the seed, plant the seed, wait for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I do recommend this game, I will say, it is not for everyone. As I played it more it became more and more tedious, repetitive and you can tell it is not finished/polished, however it did have some charm to it, at least for me. To describe it in short, the game loop revolves around the Evertree, a giant .. tree.. on which you can grow worlds, which they are more towards islands. There is a total of 6 biomes for these worlds, ranging from desert, lush forest, frozen land to mushroom…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought the game on the Steam Summer sale, not really expecting much. But wow, it's really cool. The 3D graphics are beautiful and the town building already has me hooked. I've played for 5 hours straight since I bought the game and I'm struggling to convince myself to go to bed. I'll be back on it first thing in the morning with my coffee. Edit: I've played for 15 hours now and I already know I'm going to be hooked for the next two weeks, if not a full month, if not longer. There are so many…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Grow: Song of the Evertree" is a handheld (Nintendo Switch)/console game that's also been put on Steam as a bit of an afterthought, as it's very much designed for the handheld/console gaming audience. This is far from the worst game on Steam, and before delving into the issues this has (that many Nintendo Switch games that have been dumped on Steam also share), I'll cut to the chase on why I can't recommend it, and it boils down to this being ludicrously priced despite the Nintendo Switch…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game, the atmosphere, the music, the ideas are all great. The execution however could be better. After only a few hours in, the game gets repetitive. Some things took me a while to figure out. Like how to get back to my alchemist hut for the first time when on an island. (apparently my hut is a town) I couldn't click it on the map but had to press the button for town. It is also not intuitive to get to the island from the map, it only states that you have to press…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Grow is pretty meh. I played Yonder: Cloud Catcher Chronicles first and enjoyed it, so I kinda expected similar but better, but Grow is honestly less cute, less fun, less interesting, has worse controls, more repetitive gameplay, etc. It's just boring, tbh. After you unlock the town and visitors, it's just more of the same. Finish your first world? Now do another. Finish your first part of the town? Now do another. Just not for me. Also, as soon as I finished the first world I started getting…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute, cozy game that is quite addictive, however, it becomes repetitive after some time. It could also use a map to help navigate the world as you get lost easily. The ending is a bit anti-climatic.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love cozy games, I thought this looked interesting. I played for a couple of hours but got incredibly bored very quickly. This game feels more suited to young kids, like 6-12 age. I don't think I will be going back to it any time soon.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While the game starts out very promising it ends up very repetitive and disappointing. Like many others have pointed out, the game feels unfinished. There is no clear goal or end to the game, just an endless loop of tending to different worlds and picky villagers. While the creators of the game seem to have tried to make the "village" aspect of the game more appealing by creating special NPCs that we get to know through quests, those NPCs quickly fall short and become like every other NPC once…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember being a bit excited for this when it first came out but after playing for a bit i must say that this game has way too many menus that are too hard to navigate. Some tasks which should be easy feel unintuitive and hard to complete, like the simple stuff it tells you to do in the beginning of the game. Also after playing just a bit I feel completely lost. But I really like the artstyle, it is very pleasant to look at.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I agree with another reviewer in that, if you enjoy games like the My Time franchise or SDV, you probably won't enjoy this. It's mostly just a really repetitive game that seems like it will tell some kind of a story but doesn't really. It feels like it was designed for very young children or possibly really old people that aren't very good at gaming.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thoroughly enjoyed this when I played in '21 got about 30 hours to the end. I had fun trying different world seeds to make different words and managing settlements. Back to playing a new game in '26 out of nostalgia. It should be noted, five years on there are still some bugs. Occasionally the game will crash when changing worlds. Save often. There are also worlds that can spawn with parts of them visibly obstructed. You can walk through these obstructions but it can make seeing what you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game gets repetitive really fast, the UI design is horrendous, and it feels like a heartless unity engine demo. I could imagine this game might be fun if you're new to gaming or want to manage a little world more than be entertained
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have you ever played fae farm? Dreamlight valley? Coral island? If yes you’ll like this game, if no- and you like this game, you’ll like those ones too. This game is charming and has some of the most unique character designs. I really like this game. I will say there are some missed opportunities when it comes to cutscenes, the evergreen growing is the same cinematic over and over so far, and same with the withering roots retreating, and a barren empty field turning green that isn’t the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad, but it gets boring pretty quickly due to the bland 'quests,' the lack of any real story, and the fact that most of the things you do are very repetitive. Very casual game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, nonmedicalised people should medicalize. Grow up. Put some skin in the game. You can have soft baby face features and be a forty something dracula or for the trans masc side you can get permanently damp skin and be the wolfman. Happy Halloween

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the game until I couldn't play because the game freezes when I claimed a reward. The fact that the last update was in 2022 and that the game has that type of bug is not acceptable for the price they ask.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think I'm a little over halfway towards the ending. I am not typically a "bombard me with cuteness" kind of gamer, but this bizarre journey has absolutely captured my heart. It becomes increasingly more unhinged as you play in its own weird gentle sort of way. Very kid friendly. Surprisingly deep complexity (which is not a ton, but still more than I would have guessed). Adorable graphics. Charming writing and story. Complaints are the same-yness of a lot of the tasks. Doing all the chores…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I won’t lie I was hesitant playing because of the rating which isn’t the worst rating ever. But I went with my intuition with this one & am so glad I did. I’ve been in a gaming burn out trying to deal with my trauma & I had a hard time finding a game to escape. This game is not only super cute but it has way more depth than I thought. The world map is huge & I only just started. So if you’re on the fence just get it. I wish I came across this gem a LONG time ago
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun Concept, but very clearly unfinished and abandoned. Easy to get 100% achievements, but there's a couple bugged in game goals. Which is kinda frustrating.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ngl, I really wanted to like this game. It has a lot of potential and I came in with zero expectations. It feels under cooked. While playing I experienced quite a number of bugs very frequently. Such as textures and UI randomly getting blurry, or getting soft locked when unlocking an in game achievement. Which gave me anxiety when playing because if I forgot to manually save and did a bunch of the tasks on my world seeds and had to do that all over again, that would've killed my drive…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →took me 62 game days to complete. after you complete the storyline you can continue for as long as you want. basically you make world seeds using essences, what essences are used effect the world type and what essences you gather from objects within that world. (4-5 types with a total of 50 essence are used to make a world, that world will give the same type of essences used to make it and 5 others) along side that you also build little towns to get people to come live there and build harmony…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lot of bugs (important cutscenes just fail to appear softlocking you without you even knowing), story and lore are just cliches, face animations are uncanny and there are no unique mechanics that can help separate it from all other similar games. I recommend you rather try any other more polished farming simulators. The only + is some characters and creatures designs, there are a few cool and unique looking ones

neutral · AI labelView post →This game has elements similar to Harvest Moon, Dark Cloud and early Zelda. When I first started it I thought "oh ok this is simple" the sort of game you can chill with and not have to use too much brain for. However I soon found the management aspect to be a bit more challenging than expected. Before I knew it I had been playing for four hours and didn't want to stop. So far the puzzles have been reasonably easy to sort out (though some were a little more difficult in their execution than…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While Grow is definitely not the best cozy game to exist out there, it is the type of game that you can play to relax when you are sick or need something with 0 brain power. The achievements were also really easy to get so you can definitely pick it up if you want something to complete
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really nice game. Has plant tending, city building, and exploration elements, with no combat. And you can customize your own character, other villagers, and all the buildings. I found it very relaxing.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game reminds me of Dreamlight Valley. It is a mixture of city building, quests, exploration and creating and finishing worlds (to get resources for city crafting). It was cozy and a fun game to spend the weekend playing. The graphics are very pretty and I enjoyed it a lot. If you are looking for a high action, high paced video game, this wouldn't be for you, but if you want a game to relax, listen to a podcast, and smoke to, this is it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I liked some aspects of this game, overall I can't really recommend it. It got very repetitive quickly. I did enjoy the options for character customization, and there is a lot of customizing available for the towns you build. However, tending to the little islands you create never gets any faster, so after a while it stops feeling rewarding. If it's on sale and you'd like to give it a go, definitely try it, but I am happy I didn't pay full price for it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This one is hard to place, but even so, I had fun at the start it degraded relatively fast. I think what kept me until the end was that I finish my games even if the enjoyment drops. I always hope it turns to the better. What I mean is I always hope the game gets better further in because some of my favorite games had some downs and ups. Maybe one more world, one more city district, and the story gets a boost. But neither the building of districts nor the Worlds made anything feel rewarding?…
