Guilty Gear Isuka is a 2D fighting video game developed by Arc System Works and published by Sammy Corporation. Announced by Arc in September, it was released on December 17, 2003, in arcades as the sixth installment of the Guilty Gear series. Later, the game was ported for a release on the PlayStation 2 (PS2), Xbox, and Windows in Japan. What people are saying

A divisive, unique Guilty Gear entry praised for its soundtrack and characters but criticised for its manual turning and poor PC port.

Reactions are sharply split: some players love Isuka for its bold ideas and memorable music, while others find the manual turning and lane system frustrating. One player notes that after playing Strive's 3v3 mode, Isuka 'ain't so bad' (R3), and another calls it 'The Black Sheep of the GG Series' but says it's fun once you get past the manual turning (R7). [3][7]

Many players praise the soundtrack, calling it 'arguably worth the price alone' (R21) and giving the music a 10/10 (R24). Characters like Robo-Ky Mk.II and A.B.A. are also celebrated (R1, R5, R11). However, the PC port is widely condemned as a lazy, unplayable mess with no online and poor controller support (R22, R26, R30, R36). [21][24][1][5][11][22][26][30][36]

Guilty Gear Isuka was the 176th-bestselling Japanese title in 2004, with 74,270 copies sold for PlayStation 2 as of December 26. It was "Best Fighting Game" at the Best of E3 2004 Awards from IGN, and was nominated for "Best Sequel Fighting" at the 2004 National Academy of Video Game Testers and Reviewers (NAVGTR) Awards, which went to Dead or Alive Ultimate. The game received mixed reviews from critics, with a score of 76% at GameRankings and 73/100 at Metacritic. Allgame's Damian Francis gave the game three-and-a-half stars out of five; Famitsu's four reviewers scored it 7, 7, 6, and 7 (out of 10) respectively, with a total score of 27 out of 40. Do not buy this. Do not even pirate this! This is the black sheep of the Guilty Gear franchise and for good reason. It's a mess. For whatever reason, they decided to mimick the GGX controls, but still keep all of the GGXX mechanics (Dusts are S+HS again, for example.). That's fine, but they also added manual turning, lane switching (like in Fatal Fury) and teams (which are completely irrelevant because you can hit your allies!). The end result is a confusing nightmare. GG is hard, but with all…

Guilty Gear Isuka is... difficult to recommend. On one hand, Guilty Gear will always be a great fighting game even with a few detriments, and the soundtrack is arguably worth the price alone. On the other, besides the unique soundtrack, this particular version of Guilty Gear is pretty much pointless to have now that there are others on Steam. It's really just Guilty Gear, with a more novel than truly enjoyable four-player gimmick (that I will admit I never played with four people) that's bogged…

i dont understand the hateboner towards manual turning. in the real world, when you want to turn around, god doesn't just automatically spin you six ways to sunday. in the real world, where we both live physically, when you want to turn you use your brain and muscles to pivot yourself. Much like turning in the real world, turning in this game requires your brain and muscles to skillfully spin at the correct moment. sissy new-age queer babies who drool their own cerebrospinal fluid over their…

Guilty Gear Isuka is a non-canonical entry in classic 2D fighting game series created by musician and composer Daisuke Ishiwatari. It is considered as the worst game in the franchise, however it has some unique features. Originally it was released in 2004 on arcades, then in 2006 on PC and Playstation 2. Steam version had been released in 2011. Isuka possess no story at all, it focuses on chaotic battles between 4 fighters, also introduces mode called GG Boost, which kinda reminds Tekken Force…

This version feels kinda pointless when the other Guilty Gears are on steam, but it does have a 4 player gamemode which is pretty fun The factory mode is cool as well. It is a lazy port though and hard to get into but i recommend it (only on sale) for the 4 player shenanigans and sountrack alone. The Black Sheep of the GG Series. I played this a lot on the PS2 back in the day and it is fun when you get past the fact that you have to manually turn. Honestly compared to back then though, we have much more experience and resources to improve the overall experience in playing this game. I recommend playing on the keyboard and setting the controls similar to the "Hitbox controller" layout, with the spacebar configured to jump for Arcade/VS Mode. Guilty Gear Isuka occupies a strange and fascinating corner of the franchise’s history, standing as one of Arc System Works’ boldest attempts to reinterpret the series’ identity. Instead of the tight, highly technical one-on-one duels the Guilty Gear name is known for, Isuka shifts its entire structure into a four-player, multi-lane brawler that feels more like a chaotic party fighter than a traditional competitive experience. From the moment you start playing, the game signals that it is…

There's little to no reason to play this game. It does have some positives and good ideas like the soundtrack, the debut of Aba and GG Boost, but all of it is marred by how jarring the game is to play. A four player game w/the gameplay and mechanics of X2 #Reload is chaotic and not really in a fun way. A turn around button and a lane system makes it kinda difficult to get a handle of things. I've played this game on the original hardware and its honestly great on that but its just a port that just does not stand the test of time when it comes to guilty gear ports and can be a disappointing experience lacking the standard features for a guilty gear steam game. The soundtrack is awesome but the gameplay sucks. Arcade mode gets boring fast once you're double teamed. Pressing a button to turn around is not cool and the fact partners can damage each other is lame. GG Boost mode is a beat 'em up and it's crap. Buy it for the soundtrack! Isuka on console is a fun party game. It's bizarre in a lot of ways, and the manual turning definitely takes getting used to (you can block attacks from behind by holding back, which is to say, *toward* the incoming attack, so the manual turning is really more about directing your offense than worrying about mixups), but it's a good time! This port, on the other hand, is hot, hot garbage. Which is unfortunate. Do try Isuka on console. Don't bother with it on PC. :|

Isuka is probably my favorite of the GG games, but make no mistake - it demands a LOT of the player. Manual turnarounds, dual-plane mechanics ala Fatal Fury 2/Special, a decided lack of instakills that you'd expect from GG; and frequent "challengers" of 2-on-1 battles reminiscent of Street Fighter Alpha 3's Dramatic/Survival Modes. The manual turnarounds allow you to execute special moves in the opposite direction for incredible escapes; and this game makes you learn to use and respect throws…

Guilty Gear Isuka is an experimental spin-off in the Guilty Gear series by Arc System Works. Released after Guilty Gear XX #Reload, it attempted to add cooperative and four-player competitive gameplay to the traditional 2D fighter format. The result is ambitious but flawed—an intriguing idea that sacrifices precision and balance for chaotic multiplayer. The core gameplay builds on the classic Guilty Gear foundation: fast, technical combat with complex systems like Roman Cancels and Tension…

Although the "normal" 4-player mode isn't the greatest, the "GGBOOST" or beat 'em up mode is extremely fun. Beating up groups of enemies with supers is really fun, especially with moves like tyrant rave and robo ky's punch super. The highlight though is ofc the RKII factory mode. Like the description of this game says, you can create an unbalanced nightmare in this game. Though, I only customize my robo ky to optimize him for the beat 'em up mode.
