Halloween II
Directed by Rick Rosenthal
After failing to kill stubborn survivor Laurie and taking a bullet or six from former psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis, Michael Myers has followed Laurie to the Haddonfield Memorial Hospital, where she's been admitted for Myers' attempt on her life. The institution proves to be particularly suited to serial killers, however, as Myers cuts, stabs and slashes his way through hospital staff to reach his favorite victim. From TMDB

I hate RZ's H2, but this made me realoze I'm much more charitable now to ideas so individualist they're bad, in an age where "having ideas" means "chat, generate me a Marvel movie starring Bad Luck Brian"

neutral · AI labelView post →So I found it: the primal horror movie scene that I caught a traumatizing glimpse of as a child when I wasn't supposed to be watching. In my case: the hydrotherapy scene from HALLOWEEN II (1981). What was yours?

Day #352 "Halloween II" (Rick Rosenthal/1981) The only Halloween film that I own, that I haven't shown off yet. So here it is, the entry that made them brother and sister for better or for worse. Check it out!

The movie has a special place in my heart as it was the first slasher movie I ever saw on video back in 1982 or 1983 as a thirteen-year-old kid! What was yours? neutral · AI labelView post →Feeling off today so I'm watching the original TV cut of Carpenter's Halloween, which features around 10 minutes of footage, not in the theatrical cut. This version of the film aired on NBC on October 30th, 1981, which was the same day HALLOWEEN II was released in cinemas.

neutral · AI labelView post →It reminds me of how they marketed 1981's HALLOWEEN II as "All New" on the poster because I guess people thought it was the first movie being re-released? They really did stress this.

neutral · AI labelView post →Halloween had a movie coming out every couple of years or so up until Rob Zombie’s Halloween II, which had a gap between that and the 2018 Halloween remake of 9 years. Nightmare on Elm Street had 7 movies over the course of a decade.

neutral · AI labelView post →HALLOWEEN II, a much inferior movie I like anyway because you could do worse than John Carpenter and Co. phoning it in, is in this version that you can check out if you feel like it
neutral · AI labelView post →Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN II gets a lot of flack, but it’s a great movie. An inspired vision from the filmmaker that slices deep into the mind of Laurie, Zombie took a huge swing resulting in one of the better explorations of trauma with a slasher film’s survivor
positive · AI labelView post →HAPPY HALLOWEEN! One from the vaults. HALLOWEEN II (1981) was the first ever proper horror movie I saw on video, and was the one that started it all for me. Here’s a retrospective I did a couple of years ago … www.hysteria-lives.co.uk/hysterialive...

neutral · AI labelView post →Halloween II is my comfort #horror movie. After a long day at work, sometimes I like to put this on and relax... like tonight. It's not as good as the original, but it's easily the best sequel and a beautifully shot film. The hospital setting is fantastic. Great mood. Great score. Great ending.
positive · AI labelView post →What if I mention a moment in a movie that was reviled (and I didn’t like at all either)… Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN II. When Brad Dourif discovers his daughter’s body and is flooded with brief memories of her life as a kid, it’s one of the most devastating and human moments in that entire franchise.
neutral · AI labelView post →While hated by the Ultraviolence purists, I really love the scenes of the hospital staff just loitering and shooting the shit in Halloween II. Almost has a similar bored late night ambiance of hipsters in a Jim Jarmusch film, imho! . #FrightClub #HalloweenII

neutral · AI labelView post →Oh, hell yeah. I've always said that COLD PREY II is my favorite slasher, and a few years back, I wrote about why it's the successful realization of everything we hate about HALLOWEEN II (for Film School Rejects, of course, which means it was unfindable even before the site died).

neutral · AI labelView post →Rob Zombie's Halloween II. This was the first Halloween movie Trish had ever seen and it was... not the best way to introduce her to the franchise.
negative · AI labelView post →once again, I am thinking about the movie called "Halloween" that is a sequel to "Halloween" but is not related to "Halloween", "Halloween 2", or "Halloween II"
neutral · AI labelView post →It's so funny how much "Rob Zombie Halloween II is one of the most interesting portrayals of trauma in film but you specifically need to watch the director's cut" sounds like a shitpost despite being 100% true

neutral · AI labelView post →I am always interested in the primal trauma of "watching a horror movie at someone else's house as a kid in a sorta-kinda forbidden manner" (for me it was a segment of HALLOWEEN II).
neutral · AI labelView post →Thank you. I am baffled by people who defend that movie and will proudly die on that hill. After watching HALLOWEEN KILLS and HALLOWEEN II (2009) and realizing some of the scenes and kills are almost identical, I decided DGG wishes he was Rob Zombie.
