Players describe Hell Let Loose as an immersive, teamwork-focused WWII shooter that can be deeply rewarding. [1][2][3] Many reviewers note that the game suffers from rampant cheating and poor developer updates. [4][5][6] Some players find the game frustrating and psychologically taxing, yet still recommend it. [7][8][9]

This game is an absolute disaster now. Everything that made Hell Let Loose great is gone. The last major update ruined it completely. Infantry is broken. Shooting feels off. Hit registration is garbage. Tanks are unplayable. The movement feels clunky and delayed. It used to be smooth, balanced, and immersive. Now it’s just chaos. Nothing works the way it should. Team17 has no idea what they are doing. It feels like …

Nearly 100% of all players are using cheats. We thought owning and monitoring our premium hosted server with a large like minded player base would be able to counter this. It couldn't. Even with 24/7 staff watching, recording, reviewing, kicking and banning, using all the best programs to do so. Cheaters were ever present contaminating every single round of every single game. After all that work, we finally …

As a veteran, Hell Let Loose weirdly captures the feeling that most military games miss: Confusion, terrible visibility, bad directions, sudden panic, and one exhausted squad leader trying desperately to hold reality together over comms.

After ~100 Hours – My Take on Hell Let Loose After just over 100 hours, Hell Let Loose has firmly earned its place as currently my favorite WWII game by a landslide — not because it’s constantly fun, but because it’s deeply rewarding when approached the right way. This is not a game you play to relax your trigger finger. It’s a game you play to think, to cooperate, and to slowly understand how a battlefield actually …

This is the most immersive, realistic, and challenging WW2 shooter I have ever played. I can't stop playing it. It may be the best shooter i have ever played, period.

Players who liked Hell Let Loose talk about immersive and realistic WWII atmosphere; those who didn't talk about rampant cheating, especially wall hackers. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Hell Let Loose received 'generally favorable' reviews for Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X, and 'mixed or average' reviews for PlayStation 5, according to review aggregator Metacritic. On the Steam platform, the game holds a 'very positive' review score. PCGamesN has praised the use of teamwork in the game, writing that "A well-led assault on an enemy strongpoint involves covering the approach with a smokescreen... taking part in such an assault is a uniquely exhilarating experience that’s like nothing else I’ve felt in a shooter." On the other hand, PC Gamer, while enjoying the changes that made Hell Let Loose more lethal, still felt that the sound was not up to par, saying "My main…

They make changes but much of the time, it's either unwanted or poorly implemented. I am so so frustrated that such a good game is being ruined like this. Every update comes with changes that are riddled with issues and require a hotfix that requires a hotfix that requires a hotfix. The only way the devs will listen is if you, the customer don’t buy the game. Hit their wallets. Stranger passing…

NO ONE uses mics AT ALL anymore, and teamwork no longer exists. everyone just tries to run and gun instead of building spawnpoints for the team. I LOVE IT when i spend 10 minutes walking from HQ to OBJ just…

When everything clicks with a good squad that actually communicates, it can feel immersive. The Bad (And It’s Really Bad) Rampant Cheating, Especially Wall Hackers: Wall hackers (ESP cheats) are a plague. Players see through walls, bushes, buildings, and terrain, pre-firing positions and wiping out squads with impossible…

Played it on a free weekend and was trying my best to play the game with the minimal amount of knowledge I had and every server was extremely mean & unwelcoming to newbies. You would think people would be excited to see new players join the community but I guess not. Also, it's not that hard to be nice to people. Fix your attitudes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like Tarkov, this is a game you only want to play at your absolute lowest. Wife left and took the kids? Play HLL. Dog died? Play HLL. Lost your job and spiraled into the deepest, darkest depression? Yep...... play HLL. Absolute rage inducing, d0gsh!t game. 10/10 recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UPDATED REVIEW: I will update this review but will still recommend against buying it new. The fact that the devs can fix the crashing problems doesn't stop them from failing to test something again in the future and just releasing it. This is a pattern of behavior ever since the game was let go by the original devs. The current devs are more focused on releasing broken updates that seem to be mostly unnecessary UI changes than making a good game. Be it a warning for the Vietnam game they're…

The single player games I play and Hell Let Loose work great, but I am struggling to get my racing sims to work. All the games are through Steam, howver I think it is likely to be the non-native support for Simhub, Moza and SimLabs Race Director software. Are there any sim racing Bazzite users here that could offer some advice? I have tried a few online…
positive · AI labelView post →I’ve put 738 hours into Hell Let Loose, so this isn’t coming from someone passing through. When it works, it’s one of the best teamwork-based games out there. But there’s a fundamental issue that keeps dragging it down, and it’s not just about players “not knowing what they’re doing.” It’s deeper than that. This game relies heavily on leadership. Commanders, Squad Leads, coordination, communication, timing. When those pieces come together, it’s brilliant. But the game doesn’t really support…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Gameplay. Terrible community and community servers especially the admins on the community servers who have never spoken to a woman before besides their mother and treat their role like a full time job. I shouldnt be forced to play on a community server just because the official servers have terrible anti-cheat and bad anti-griefing measures in place which is why no one plays them.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hell let loose is a completely different breed of psychological damage. it isnt even a video game really. it is just a 50v50 social experiment to see how long a human being can hold the w key before having a full blown mental breakdown. the whole gameplay loop is just spiritual torture. you spawn at some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garrison your squad leader built in a flooded ditch. then you just jog through a beautiful french field for like 14 uninterrupted minutes. im usually just sitting there taking a hit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don’t review games, but where else should this playerbase turn to finally see some positive change? Thousands of hours, tons of great communities formed within a niche game, and incredible memories. Truly baffled it somehow keeps getting worse. This company does not deserve your money. We’ve watched one of the worst handoffs from one dev team to a new one. The game is in an unplayable state—veteran players have put up with this for so long, yet here we are without a single noticeable…

I started playing in 2020, fell in love with the game, and put my whole heart into it—especially on the competitive side. It used to be one of the most unique, intense and rewarding shooters out there. But right now? The game is in the worst state it has ever been. The server performance is simply unacceptable. constant rubberbanding terrible tickrate random crashes desync everywhere It doesn’t feel like a triple-A title, it doesn’t even feel like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I Now Have PTSD: Patience Tested Server Disorder I bought Hell Let Loose with great enthusiasm, only to discover that the real battle is getting into a server in the first place. All servers say “unable to join because they’re full” even when they’re not. Even when I deliberately pick ones with 30+ open slots just to be sure it’s not people joining. Still “full”. I’ve not once been able to actually play this bloody game!! On the one glorious occasion I did manage to join, the game kicked me…

Do you enjoy dying to enemies hidden in bushes, trees, or across the map before you even know where the shots came from? If so, this is the game for you When everything comes together, this game is genuinely fantastic. Coordinating with your squad, managing the map, and pulling off a well-executed attack or defense creates some of the most satisfying teamwork you'll find in a multiplayer shooter.…

With u18 last year, everything turned to ♥♥♥♥ and somehow with newer patches the devs make the game run worse everytime. Almost like the devs don't even play the game while pushing ♥♥♥♥ out that no one asks for.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spent probably an hour total waiting in servers only to be kicked each time for a different reason, then eventually got kicked with a message saying "Client Cooldown in Effect for 10 minutes" not allowing me to do anything. All I did was click join, then wait in a queue.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I mean that‘s always the issue with this dumb auto swear / dirty word detection. It is simply not context aware. Recently in a game of Hell Let Loose, someone wrote in chat that he needs hearing aids while playing and the game automatically censored „aids“ because of „get aids!“ and whatever shit someone might say in a shooter. This auto-censoring is particularly outrageous in a shooter where you can literally see people being torn to shreds by explosions.
neutral · AI labelView post →The game demands a high spec PC but looks like mud and still runs poorly. Half the playerbase are completely silent and lay in grass waiting to farm kills, the other half moderate the servers and fail to remove cheaters - but do remove people attempting to have fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game for a thousand hour on epic games. I played mostly competetively as a tanker. Here are my 2 cents. The developers are actively killing the game by infrequent and buggy updates. They mostly have the right focus, but poor execution overall. They introduce new changes in a half assed manner and expect us to be happy. The changes they make introduces many bugs but those bugs take weeks to fix. They usually wait for the next big update to introduce fixes. They make ridicilously…

Once upon a time it was filled with people working together as a team and working together to win a match. But it is no longer that. It has become just a Battlefield ripoff without all the special battlefield perks. Everyone is just running around alone trying to get as many kills before they lose the game (And you will lose}. No-one acts like a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Came to this game after a year or so... Somehow the devs managed to make the graphics look a little bit worse while lowering my average FPS from solid 120-165 to 20-90, depending on map. Your squad leader leaves? Take his role or get auto-killed. I don't care you spent 10 minutes walking behind enemy positions, "kill yourself or we will do it". Voice communication is non-existent, even on pro servers. This was a 9/10 game few years back.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developer does not disclose that this game is set to be incompatible with VPNs, even when HLL is set to split tunnel and connect directly, allowing their program to bypass the VPN and connect directly. I see no reason why the developers should have any need to dictate my traffic routing outside of their game and anti-cheat system. Their notice system also does not disclose the actual reason why they will not let a player connect to the servers or access the main menu. They simply give a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't really think Hell Let Loose is a bad game. I'm giving it a negative review because after 30 hours I've basically realized that it just isn't for me. I'm only level 25 so obviously I'm still pretty new, but getting into this game is rough. There is a lot going on and the game doesn't really do a good job of explaining most of it. Where to spawn, where you should actually be going, what your squad is doing, where the enemy is likely coming from, what half the stuff on the map means…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you play it like Call of Duty or Battlefield and run around in the open, you’ll spend most of your time respawning. Hell Let Loose is a 100-player WWII shooter where two teams fight over sectors of a large map, capturing and holding strongpoints to win. It’s slower and more tactical than most shooters, but that’s what makes it work. There are multiple ways to play. You can be the commander managing resources (ammo, manpower, fuel) and calling in support like bombing runs or supply drops, a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I keep coming back to this game. Yes, it will consume you. It helped saved my sanity as I went through a divorce. No, it wasn't the cause. Rounds are long and full of action. There are some clan servers that are friendly both to new comers and veterans. There is a Vietnam version of this game dropping soon... Its a whole different game, so grab this while its on sale and see if you like it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →at the moment with the state of cheating in the game im ready to unistall it the way to report cheaters is difficult in game and i have played since alpha and its just gotten worse and worse, i honestly feel like the devs dont care and are just focused on the vietnam game but the same thing will probaly happen cheaters will just run rampant and make it unenjoyable

Zero warning, zero mercy, just constant explosions from some dude who hasn’t seen sunlight since 2009. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Until they release better optimization for this game, I cannot recommend it at the current moment. I have a very high end PC and regardless of the graphical settings I use, this game refuses to play at a stable framerate above 45-50 frames. The frames also drop to the mid 20s randomly during combat and movement which makes it pretty much unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →With over 1000 hours on record, this game is very easy to recommend. It has progressed a lot since the early days, and many of the changes have been solid. The Good: -Solid 50v50 experience, where each of the roles feels like they make a contribution to the teams effort to win the match (except medic which is useless). -Visually impressive & immersive -Good teamplay opportunities, especially when you have a squad of guys you play with routinely -Genuinely fun The Bad: -Animations could use…

This game is a blast, it brings solid gunplay with a unique WW2 atmosphere, and can be very casual or very competitive. It's my comfort shooter nowadays. With a very good teamplay, strategy, and unique tank cooperative gameplay .Community is nice. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game.. It's a hard one for me to recommend to be completely honest.. It's probably thee only populated sim-cade WW2 game right now and it sucks that it has so many issues which don't really seem like they will ever be addressed. My main issue with this game is how EASY it is to shoot in this game every gun's iron sights, range, accuracy, damage is SUPER good and every single gun even submachine guns are literal snipers just tap fire 1-2 shots at 200+ meters and you get kills very easy.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2021 game performing poorly and stuttery on a standard 2026 battle station should be inexcusable. I can tolerate the game's brutality, staring at the death screen and waiting to spawn over and over again. But microstutters? Get out. Also as someone playing from Asia, if you don't speak Chinese you might get kicked out real quick.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself was great, but update 18 and 19 have made it clear developers either don't play their game or just don't like anyone playing infantry. Additionally it's infested with cheaters, and that includes community servers. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m having a hard time enjoying this game so far. The spawn system is frustrating; I often find myself under fire immediately upon spawning, and it’s difficult to pinpoint the shooter's location. I personally prefer the gunplay and tactical style of ARMA. I'll stick with it for now to see if the learning curve improves, and I may update my review later.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →New player here. Although the realism is very impressive I was starting to get a bit bored with walking then suddenly dying. But the last game I found a friend and I followed him around till he was blown up by a tank meters ahead of me. His severed head flew into the air and landed at my feet. Its the most horrific thing I've ever seen in a game before. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Performance and Community issues: This used to be one of my favorite games, but leadership decided to chase money instead. I loaded this game up last week with good hardware and my entire game was stuttering, not due to my hardware limitations but the game itself/ maps. The player base is not what it was either, now team mates and squad leads barely talk or coordinate at all even when needed. This game is no longer a good experience, go ahead and find another game for yourself.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun, when you can get in a squad/team that communicates and cooperates. However, Update 18 has broken this game.
