I played this game with a friend online. I was immediately disappointed that we were going to have uneven experiences. I played on the PC, meaning I actually got to play the game. He played the companion app on an iPad. For this review, I'm going to refer to the PC version as "the game" and the companion app as "the app". This has to be the most infuriating escape game i have ever played and i am really sad to say this because it actually started off really good. i played on PC, my husband on his phone. I WILL VOTE POSITIVE WITH A BUT cause its a nice premise with the phone/PC playing. its a neat idea, only one person needing the game is cool and i like that. I've only played through the first 3 rooms yet but it's one of the best escape game I've played so far! Very cool and smart riddles, the coop with an application on mobile phone works really well and is very fun! And the art is amazing! The game looks incredible and I can't wait to see the rest of the game! I'll definitly be looking forward to my next gaming session to complete the game!

My boyfriend and I have played quite a number of cooperative puzzle solving games, this one we had the worst experience. I feel like in this game we fail to communicate smoothly like we used to. For some of the puzzles we had to get together and look at the same screen and still won't figure out what's going on. Edit: Now we finally finished the game with the help of walkthrough, both feeling exhausted and confused. Can't really say we enjoyed this game. Sorry:(

NOT WORTH IT! While this game has some decent puzzles that are genuinely fun to solve, this game has way too many issues for me to recommend it. 1. A lot of the puzzles need trial and error on the part of the person using the companion app, leaving me with lots of time to sit on my phone and wait for my gf to solve it without me. 2. There are some times where you know the answer to the puzzle with every fiber of my being and it doesn't accept my answer, and after 45 minutes of doing other…

This is an update... We finally finished the game. We died twice in the last room because of bugs and blur descriptions. One is the connecting pins at the end of cube puzzles (bug) and the last camera puzzle. I don't know why there is so many misleading information and the true clue was a hollow paragraph. At the end, I don’t have a sense of accomplishment, nor am I excited, I just feel like I’ve been fooled. I bought a combination package with the new Lost Submarine, and I'm glad that one…

One of the worst cooperative escape game I've ever played. The player with the app is solving multiple interesting puzzle while, at the same time, the player on the pc game is litterally waiting without doing anything at all for entire minutes because the game is balanced awfully. I can't honestly suggest this game unless you want to play it with a friend you hate and you keep the companion app.

How 2 Escape, or the new puzzle co-op game you HAVE to play The asymetrical gameplay is pleasant and fun, the second player actually have puzzles to solve with the PC player and not left alone !! I really like the clue system as well, if you're stuck they give relevant informations, and add communication between the two players. There is a lot of rooms to explore and solve, you'll need a functionnal brain for some of them tho but what a pleasure.

I really love puzzle games and they take up a lot of what I play, especially with my husband. I saw this game as one being recommended to me but I honestly can't give it a good review after playing a few hours of it. First, the puzzles are pretty terrible. It feels like there's not a lot of logic that goes into them, so it constantly felt like we had to guess what the devs were thinking rather than following what our guts were telling us. A part of this is due to the fact that you are so…

I have to preface this review with the fact that I really enjoy puzzle games. From Professor Layton to Boxes Lost Fragments its a genre I've always enjoyed and the chance to play an escape-room style game game coop with my partner was too good an opportunity to pass up but this game genuinely ENRAGED me. The few pros - cool concept, some interesting puzzles and definitely some innovation. Sadly the cons outweigh the pros for me and my partner who is a hardcore gamer. I didn't expect much a…

I guess all England related route gamers have uninstalled the game then. We loved this game! This is very much for good escape room players since you have to talk and share information a lot. One player has a 3D world and the other has a companion app...both sides have to be inoled constantly in the riddles though. the app seems more simple but you are involved in eerything and give pointers to the player in the 3d world. It is quite the challenge and we had some roadblocks but were able to solve everything on our own. only negative point is that you cannot…

I love two player asymmetrical puzzle games, and this one certainly has a lot of outstanding points! I absolutely recommend it! The environment (the train) and the puzzles all work well together, and the general escape premise is of course very strong for these types of games. A lot of time you have a lot of additional steps, so searching for stuff even if you already understood what to do but then the mechanics (or the search) will lead to a lot longer then necessary expierience, which simply boeres. The puzzles make perfect use of the escape game mechanics, and so far I'm not disappointed. The fact that one of the players has the application that enables us to solve the puzzles by working together reminds me of "Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes", and that's a good point! My girlfriend was very excited to play this with me, as we enjoy co-op games and asymmetric puzzle games. But in the end, it was pretty disappointing. 1) Least consequentially, the story is pretty nonsensical. As the game is, I give it a No for several reasons. The companion app doesn't work properly as its own program on Steam as many Online Co-Op games allow your companion to download a free version that lets them join your game. Not sure why the companion app is literally inside of the game itself but because of this my girlfriend has been unable to play with me via Steam (which is more preferred than having to look down into a phone or tablet). As someone who enjoys irl escape rooms, this was quite an interesting experience, and one of the better escape rooms I've played. Admittedly, the logic in some of the puzzles are a little questionable and the story isn't anything to write home about. The co-op aspect is also somewhat weak because a lot of it boils down to one player waiting for the other to solve their own puzzle. Additionally, the game seems to be rather unoptimised, with lots of frame drops. A personal qualm is also the lack…

After playing all but the last room, we felt the puzzles were mostly pretty good, calling for enjoyable back-and-forth between the two players. There were only a couple of small issues: one idea we didn't get until we used a hint, and which we felt could have been indicated more clearly; and one puzzle we solved without quite understanding all the details: why was *this* the solution rather than one of the 2 other possible solutions? Most of the time was spent waiting for the other player to read chunks of text and to determine how/if it was relevant to the current puzzle. The puzzles felt one sided, and always ended with "describe this code to complete the level" as a way to make this a co-op experience. This meant most of the game I was waiting for the other player to make sense of the information overload. I feel like the timer is unnecessary.

Game is frustrating, and not just because it's an escape room game. The coin hints do not help at all, it's usually what you already know. The puzzles seem disjointed from one another and assume you know a cypher or type of game outside of this actual game. The website doesn't help much either.

For being 5 bucks on sale it was alright. A bit frustrating when one player is stuck and the other kinda just waits around. The companion 2 player system was decent, however it's not too different from the way coop puzzle games let people help each other while both solving puzzles. For a sale-price it's worth a buy/playthrough, just not groundbreaking.

"How 2 Escape" is a bad idea implemented badly, for profit, on Steam. Just like it looks, this is a simple first person puzzle game with a twist - two people have to buy it (what a great way to get people to throw money at you) and one of those people doesn't get to play the proper game, and has to play a crappy mobile app puzzle game instead. But you can't just play one or the other because they're tied together (badly). Basically here's how it goes... the person actually playing the game…
