Independence Day: Resurgence
Directed by Roland Emmerich
We always knew they were coming back. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction. From TMDB

60 of 176 · most liked firstFireworks are nice -but my favorite 4th of July memory was seeing the movie Independence Day opening night late on the 3rd. The theater timed it so the 4th title card appears on the screen as it hit midnight. For a moment everyone in that theater was out of control. Simple times.

neutral · AI labelView post →Honestly, the way things are going nowadays, Independence Day (1996) would probably be considered a "smart" action movie now
neutral · AI labelView post →Can a high profile Democrat please go on Fox News to show footage from the movie Independence Day and claim that the White House is under immediate attack from aliens?
neutral · AI labelView post →Movie idea - a reboot of Independence Day in which the President of the United States (Donald Trump) sides with the alien invaders.

neutral · AI labelView post →This President's Day, I'm going to rewatch "Independence Day." Not the whole movie. Just one clip. Over and over again. Cheering for the aliens.
neutral · AI labelView post →I don't care what anyone says, Independence Day is a fun movie that I try to watch every year. It helps that Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum are both incredibly charming as the leads, and Bill Pullman is very likable.
positive · AI labelView post →Replicas of miniatures used in disaster movies, culminating in a room filled with the all of the miniatures from Independence Day, which holds the record for most miniatures ever used in a film.
neutral · AI labelView post →Happy 4th of July, the holiday created to celebrate the movie Independence Day (1996) starring Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum and nothing else, to you all

neutral · AI labelView post →Still can’t believe we have a federal holiday to celebrate the 1996 hit movie Independence Day
neutral · AI labelView post →I guess he kind of looks like the kind of guy who would be president in --an Aaron Sorkin production --a movie where POTUS says, like, "I don't care what the Constitution says. I know what's right!" before making dogs legal --the 1996 film Independence Day
neutral · AI labelView post →Please for the love of Allah if you're going to use this list as watch list replace Independence Day Resurgence with an old-fashioned-style action movie like The Man From UNCLE or something, and replace Doom (2015) with literally any monster movie I don't watch those I'm too scared

neutral · AI labelView post →I was asked for Independence Day film recs beyond Jaws, Zodiac, Nashville, & Blow Out. I feel like right now, Do the Right Thing still has the most urgent & vital things to say about America, but my go-to is The Right Stuff, featuring Sam Shepard as Chuck Yeager in the goddamn hero shot of all time.
neutral · AI labelView post →If you want to experience something really jarring, watch an older movie that depicts a US president, like Air Force One, Deep Impact, The American President, or shit even Independence Day.
neutral · AI labelView post →Just got back from a “Independence Day the movie the party” in which the Bill Pullman president speech was given by a different person every hour
neutral · AI labelView post →Hey Nathan, I know you did not intend to do this, but this is a pretty serious misreading of my post, which isn't an expression of nostalgia but an analysis of the ideological mode in which the film is operating, as per the subject of the podcast I host about movies like INDEPENDENCE DAY.

neutral · AI labelView post →Watched Independence Day for the first time since I was a kid, and gotta give three cheers for a film with a sex worker in it who not only isn't fridged, isn't ashamed of her job, but also has a happy romantic ending with one of the heroes of the story? also snaps for Jeff Goldblum's face card
positive · AI labelView post →I believe the excellent 1996 documentary film Independence Day confirmed that there is indeed an enormous conspiracy to hide the existence of aliens from the president of the United States
neutral · AI labelView post →Those "POLICE ICE" uniform patches are like when a studio knows you won't care about their movie so they have to slap "FROM THE CREATORS OF INDEPENDENCE DAY" directly above the title
neutral · AI labelView post →a Mary McDonnell film fest=never a bad idea. In the last few months I've watched or rewatched Passion Fish, Sneakers, Independence Day (a fun film with the big mistake of underusing MM criminally), Dances With Wolves. I'm a horror wuss but she's also great in House of Usher. Turns out she can act!!
neutral · AI labelView post →Nobody who saw the original Independence Day movie can see steam cloud up a window and NOT be ready for that jump scare to follow, and damn it, THAT is an enduring film legacy if there ever is one.
neutral · AI labelView post →Independence Day: Resurgence killed the dog from the first movie by happening twenty years later.
neutral · AI labelView post →That's why it's so weird Independence Day had Will Smith AND Harry Connick Jr. In the movie and no promotional single that didn't even need to be in the actual movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →Watching the aliens blow up the White House in Independence Day resonates very differently in 2025 than it did when the film came out in 1996.
neutral · AI labelView post →The movie "Independence Day" didn't even attempt to explore the idea that maybe the aliens were flying by Earth and smelled BBQ
neutral · AI labelView post →Watched Independence Day (1996). It's amazing how well-structured this is. The conflict and stakes come together so quickly and so well that it feels like you're watching a historical event. Then someone talks and you go "oh, right, the 90's." Always a delight to spot a Harvey Fierstein role.
