Please remember a review is an opinion. I can only tell you about my experience and how I feel. Your mileage may vary. Where to begin ... The game is kind of a hot mess. When the game launched, I was pleasantly surprised it was only $20. I was expecting more for all the hype. And I will admit it is pretty. But that's pretty much where my positive experience ends. The controls are abysmal. It uses both keyboard …

Ok. So. There is a lot of potential here. It's a flying sim in some spherical worlds. It's puzzling, poetic and you can get lost in it. But. It's terrifyingly outdated in a lot of ways. It feels like a 2$ game from the nintendo ds store. Unpolished, bad controls, almost impossible to guess puzzles and very poor narration. Just look at the achievements ratio. Barely 50% people reach past the tutorial before giving up …

Intro InnerSpace is a wonderfully atmospheric flight exploration game with a unique, and wonderful art style. It's not the kind of game that will keep you on the edge of your seat, however, the beautiful scenery will keep your eyes popped in as you take a relaxing journey through this exotic, intergalactic world. Pros: + The story is interesting, albeit, a bit generic. + Extremely gorgeous art style with an …

Absolutely gorgeous and relaxing flight/dive simulator, with a few rough edges. The soundtrack is nice and the environments are a blast to explore, although it can get hard to keep track of where you are at sometimes. The controls are pretty hard to get used to at first, and I have read that the keyboard controls are absolutely terrible although I have no frame of reference on that subject. I have only played so far …

If you liked Flower or ABZU, you will probably enjoy this game as well. It's very relaxing and the music is soothing. However, the gameplay can be frustrating if you want to make progress quickly. I can't recommend it as a "Game" but I would recommend it as a soothing flight sim, that you can relax with.

Players who liked InnerSpace talk about beautiful and unique art style; those who didn't talk about controls are clunky and unintuitive. Which matters more to you?

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm really trying to enjoy this one but constantly find myself not having fun or getting sick. I thought it would be my type of game after loving abzu and mostly loving AER. My main issues are the controls and FOV. The controls are extremely stiff and feel jerky. The steering response needs to be smoothed out quite a bit. I don't get sick playing games but this one is an exception. The unchangable FOV is so wide and the world you navigate so small that it is extremely disorienting. I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Introduction The sky is the limit! Or not, since peaceful flight simulations have long since branched out and wisely threw some fantastical themes into the mix. InnerSpace is following in the footsteps of several indie games on Steam which focus on a philosophical approach through which even the “foes” are being vanquished without ever resorting to violence. As the Steam debut of PolyKnight Games, InnerSpace has also been successfully financed through a Kickstarter campaign which certainly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In a game like this focused entirely around movement you simply HAVE to make the movement satisfying or your game doesn't work! Take games like superflight or Grow up. They mastered how flying feels! And this game doesn't even come close to what they do. The movement and controls are just all around clunky. If you're already having a bad time with the movement in a game where all you do is explore and do puzzles you've seriously done something wrong... There are however some positives. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful but expository. It's a great casual game where you fly around and explore well rendered spaces. Unfortunately you can't do anything without having to wade through inane text thats ostensibly explains the story. This game could be as brilliant as Journey, if only the devs adopted the same form of storytelling that didn't involve constantly checking in with an NPC who only exists to try and explain to you what's going on. Does it really need to be explained so explicitly? Just let the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Similar to games like Abzu, Journey, and Flower. Many of the negative reviews com[plain about bad controls. Maybe with a mouse and keyboard they are but I used a PS4 controller and I thought they were just fine. It's not super long. I finished it in an afternoon. Took about 6 hours. No much replay value unless you wanna try and find everything. Flying around was cool and I liked all the different kinds of planes. Game is very pretty but some people may be put off by the sense of being…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overview InnerSpace may be an exploration game first and foremost, but really it’s about the sense of discovery. In a beautiful cluster of inside out worlds called the Inverse, you have been conceived to uncover the rich ancient history of the previous inhabitants. With the help of the Archaeologist you will uncover and learn about relics that reveal slices of history, and collect a mystical energy called Wind. You will soon come face to face with a Demigod and learn their story, all the while…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is beautiful, and totally my kind of thing. I'm sure I'd love it if it weren't for the controls. I've played for a few minutes and uninstalled it. It is totally unplayable. With mouse controls, it would be much better. Maybe it's best with a controller. But with a keyboard, it has just about the most impossible control scheme ever. Needing to use 8 different keys to control the ship makes it difficult at best. Most of my time in game was spent struggling through the controls tutorial.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not strictly true. If you have a card long enough (several years between issue and expiry, say) and you use it often enough, the magnetic strip can start to fade and transactions can fail. More and more often. **Edit**: It might have been a chip problem rather than a magnetic strip problem. I can't remember now, but it makes no real difference to the story. And sometimes there might be weeks with no trouble and then you'll get that one card reader that's particularly finicky and there's a…
neutral · AI labelView post →Absurdly bad controls on mouse/keyboard, maybe okay on Controller? Wasn't compelled enough to try. Interesting graphics but I find the gameplay disorientating and the first 15 minutes don't interest me enough to keep going. Maybe better controls would save this.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I bought this I had high hopes, the trailers made this game out to be awesome. But I was disappointed. It's not a horrible game, but it has some glaring issues. The good: The world is beautiful and creative and the puzzles are interesting. The atmosphere of the game is undeniably great. The bad: The flight model, which was a big implied selling point for me with the this game, lacks any feeling of you being in a soaring air plane. There is no sense of inertia, there is no gravity, no…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly i couldn't play more than half an hour. Its mostly down to visuals that i do not enjoy. Everything seems to have way too much bloom which makes my eyes hurt. Controls (keyboard) are pretty bad also. By default W was pitch down and S was pitch up, luckily you can change them. Sounds in this game are annoying as well. Music is super annoying makes your brain blow up, Chat discussions have super annoying sound etc. Menus are complete mess, very weird to navigate them and no mouse support in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing. It was all that I was hoping it would be since I saw it a couple of years back. If you liked Journey, Abzul, Flower, or other games of those kind, you will like InnerSpace. I would strongly recomend using a controller and messing with the stick bindings to fit your prefrence.

Beautiful puzzle/flight game with just enough world building to be compelling without getting bogged down in lore. And the music is synched to the gameplay as just an extra bonus. store.steampowered.com/app/347000/I...
positive · AI labelView post →Game looks great, Controls are GARBAGE. Supposed to be relaxing and I cant get over the fact I can never use the mouse but need to keep my hand on it the entire game, but you dont use it for steering your plane, that would be too intuitive! you use the keyboard for that silly !
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love space games, and this one looked fun. the graphics are cool, but I don't think it's worth it for the price. It's pretty hard to fly using a pc, but I'm sure console is challenging as well. If you want it, wait until there is a sale, but I reccomend skipping this one
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So gorgeous to behold yet so very frustrating. Inner Space is a bright and beautiful exploration game with a light story. You get to fly or swim around in a surreal world that is curved in on itself and so is pretty disorientating, but after a while you get the hang of it (almost!) Exploring the wonderful world is the game's strength. It's very relaxing and fun provided you treat the game as a sandbox to pass the time floating around, and crucially, ignore the objectives. Why? It's…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fisheyes effect is annoying. No gravity or air resistance, flying is boring, you could have put an spectator camera instead, would have been similar. There is a story, but I don't actually care about at all, well that's jsut me, doesn't mean the story is bad. Understanding your environment is not easy too, did not enjoy the view.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I stuck with it to the end. 100% achievements. I didn't hate it. (I should go into marketing, yeah?) While I sort of understood the task of collecting things, it felt like I never really got a grasp of how things worked. Lots of traveling through areas where I never could really get my bearings, lots of backtracking wondering what the hell was going on. (Could be me being less than brilliant, to be sure.) I can't recommend this game. I stick with things like a pit bull on a steak, but most…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had some fun with the game and it tries something different as a 'walking' simulator where you fly instead as you explore and unravel spatial puzzles and collecting objects but there's no real driving impulse to get you to keep going after you get bored and you will get bored. All in all had fun for a few hours so can't judge it too harshly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not good, controls are really janky and if you get even slightly motion sick i dont recommend. my OCULUS doesnt even make me this motion sick.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not a flight sim, nor a puzzle game. This is an unintuitive 6DOF walking simulator with collectibles. If you're into that kind of stuff (I'm generally not) - go for it. Otherwise, save your money. It gets my thumb up, because it's a cool idea (too bad that the way it's executed doesn't offer much fun).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was abysmal for me, no redeeming qualities what so ever, let me explain: First and foremost; Gameplay, this game has nothing that is going to blow you away, it consists of flying through some tunnels, or into an orb, or sometimes escort quests (cause gamers just love those), infact the final boss consists of about seven escort quest like objectives. Furthermore, the biggest issue by far is direction, this game does not tell you where to go what so ever, now I understand that in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tonight’s movie was InnerSpace (1987) and it still holds up. Don’t forget it won a Visual Effects Oscar. Also great car game and a show stealing performance from Robert Picardo. One of my childhood favourites and pleased it’s still a great romp.
neutral · AI labelView post →Bought this dirt cheap and thought I'd see if the keyboard/mouse controls are really that awful. Oh lord yes, yes they are. Somewhat better after I rebound the keys to what my fingers thought they should be. It's still more of a "fly around aimlessly and confused, maybe stumble into stuff to progress at some point" sim. But I mean. That doesn't have to be a bad thing. More cozy and combat-free recommendations? > [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45583336/]Treefrog wants to chill <
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It might be beautiful & atmospheric, but the way it controls and how the orientation works it ruins the overall feel for me. Maybe if I had a controller my opinion might be better, but for now I have to stick with "do not recommend".
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was undecided about this game until it came up on a sale. Glad I didn't pay full price for it. I didn't even get passed the tutorial before logging out, as I got too frustrated with the awful controls. For a game that recognizes mouse buttons, you'd think you could control flight direction with the mouse. But I couldn't seem to find a way to link direction to mouse movement at all. Such unintuitive controls. Rather disappointed because the trailer for it is beautiful. :-/
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Graphics are beautiful, but the worlds/places to fly around are way too small. You constantly need to change direction - and that makes me motion sick. I would have loved to fly around like in Chorus. There just flying around was fun, but here it's not.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For me this game is a hidden gem in steam and honestly i cant believe it has mixed reviews. The only cons i can imagine are getting nausia or playing with a mouse and keyboard (which both didnt happen to me). Everything else i can safely describe as a pleasant experience the ost, the little piano wings of some planes, the design's of creatures and the planes, the puzzles/boss fights, and the controls and mechanics of flying are awesome once you get the gist of it. This game doesnt hold your…

neutral · AI labelView post →InnerSpace is a handheld (Nintendo Switch)/console game that's also been put on Steam as a bit of an afterthought, as it's very much designed for the handheld/console gaming audience. It's a kind of weak "flying" walking Sim, somewhat trying to rip off the vibe of games like Abzu but failing badly. Basically you fly some badly rendered low poly/minimalist glider around badly rendered low poly/minimalist "art" environments, banging into stuff and learning new levels of spite for crap…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: -Relaxing -The Drift feature is kinda cool and lets me feel more like I'm actually in control than most flying games Cons: -Menus are terrible - sometimes the B button takes you back (as it should), other times it just does not. -Not clear what to do -You're just flying around and maybe collecting things? It's not super interesting -Dialog goes super slow, unless you spam the A button to skip it, but then you auto-select the first dialog choice you're presented with.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like at your own pace exploration games with some story and lore thrown in there for good measure then you'll love this. Visually clean and graphically sound. The game takes place inside large spherical chambers and your goal is to fly around to find how to get to the next chamber, an overall enjoyable experience. I see people complaining about the controls in other reviews. Like many other flying games, when you press up you will go down and vice versa. If you don't normally play…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No offense but...Dunno whats up with folks who are obsessed with like, movies like Innerspace or Fantastic Voyage. Or that new Friendslop Game where you magic schoolbus inside of a guy. The insides of the human body are disgusting especially if youre realistically depicting them ~w~
negative · AI labelView post →Once you get the hang of the orientation and the way the presentation of the game is laid out, the game is actually a fun little hidden gem. not perfect by any stretch of the word, but seasoned "weird game" players will find something fun with this
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Graphics are okay. Geometric shapes. However, the colors are so close that it's difficult to distinguish between the wall that's right next to you and the wall on the far side. The tutorial is good to use to figure out controls, if the game would even bother to tell you what the controls are. I had to exit out of the game, go to key mapping in settings and restart the tutorial. As far as controlling the main character? With the above issues, it's guessing what key will do what. And very…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not fun. Painful controls. There is a loading screen BETWEEN the menu screens!!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an absolutely gorgeous game, with excellent visuals and music. I particularly enjoyed how the music was so well integrated in to the gameplay. The game environment has a really unique design. Initially it's a bit vertiginous but I adjusted after playing for about 30 minutes or so, and the controls start to feel quite natural with a bit of practice. This isn't a game about challenge but rather exploration. There's a lot of joy to be had in simply exploring the environments and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Imagine you play "Zelda: Breath of the wild", you do all the cool stuff on the Great Plateau, finish the quest there, now the world opens up for you and... the end credits roll. I thought the game would start now, but instead it just stops after you played around with all the mechanics for the first time. I really like the style and how it forces you to simply forget up and down and instead just take the InnerSpace physics as they are. As soon as you do that it is a really good game. But than…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So the game has launcher that you can log into. No reason why, just does. Once you're in the application, the UI is a clunky mess and can only be used with the keyboard. In fact, most of the game can only be used with the keyboard. Game opens up in the lowest resolution, so you'll have to change it. Getting to the settings was the first tedium. After figuring out that pressing W and S moves the cursor up and down you can now change settings. Once you go back and you start a new save file it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pc users, you will struggle. Looks like a beautiful game but the pc controls make it nearly unusable, having to button mash the keyboard in the tutorial alone given it doesn't tell you what the controls are (and the assignment follows no logic), only to be stuck at the first level. Probably much better on switch. Got it on sale, wouldn't pay full price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simply didn't have fun with this one. There's little direction and the inverted spherical worlds are confusing to navigate, and what's worse the flying movement is just not fun here. It's sluggish and frustrating at times. Some of the puzzles are quite obtuse as well. The ending section was very repetitive and just would not end. Music is also repetitive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's a very good reason this game has a lot of.... negative reviews, to say it lightly. the story had potential, but the ending is extremely inconclusive, it ends out of nowhere with no closure. the missions and tasks you have to do just drag on and on. there's little essence to them. and yes. the controls are horrible. I mean, you get used to the controls and you can remap them, but still. this game is extremely... meh. it had it's moments. but i'd simply leave it with a score of 2 out…

I haven't made it very far, almost 1.5hrs in, but I feel I've gotten a good grasp on what this game offers. In short, it seems to be a pretty mellow game with an interesting story so far. Pick it up if you're looking for a change of pace from other games or if you're into the quieter, relaxing games. On to the specifics: You're helping to discover what happened to an ancient…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A gorgeous game that was full of beautiful pastel colors and immersive puzzle filled enivornments with simple but interesting story. I will say there was many times that I got completely lost in the big environment. Sometimes it wasn't very obvious what direction I should go but I did eventually 100% the game so it you can eventually get your berings. I am so glad I bought the game at the SGC convention.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some of the best art design I've ever seen in a game. The story and world are nicely integrated. It's like Abzu or AER Memories Of Old, only crazier and trippier. Recommended 9/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →beautiful views, CRAPPY PERFORMANCE, i've literally lost count how many times this game has crashed, ON THE FIRST WORLD, i honestly had to delete several saves, and REINSTALL the WHOLE GAME twice, seriously i thought the first world was unplayable, the second i get to world 2, the framerate tanks, and then the game crashes. Just one second of ingame time on world 2 and BAM, it crashes, wouldn't buy this game, not even for $1.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It still feels a little weird not to have in-game objective markers. Not that it's uncommon - these days every other game is shouting "No handholding" with the same zeal as some frat dude might be issuing denials of ♥♥♥♥ after, uh whatever, I thought the image might be funny but this analogy is getting away from me. AHEM. This game doesn't do without them as a sop to the git gud crowd, but more in the way a walking simulator might; It makes for some uncomfortable moments, especially when you're…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →InnerSpace is a gorgeous and enthralling experience. The closes parallels you can draw between it and another game would be the ambient color scheme and pacing of Journey with the quirky narrative settings of an N64 game and gameplay elements almost uniquely it's own. The team at Polyknight have crafted a game that is full of awe inspiring moments as you traverse each maps inverse bubble-map. The gameplay focuses on exploration, and it tends not to hold your hand, allowing you to solve where…
