If you go hunting through the negative reviews before clicking buy on an Overwhelmingly Positively rated game, this one is for you. Inscryption honestly could have been great with some edits. As it stands, however, it is a game that is mechanically clever but crumbles under the weight of its obtuse and unnecessary meta-narrative. The narrative is actually interesting. The meta-narrative is a grab bag of WTF that …

This is peak rougelike, sure act 2 was sad but act 1 and 3 are amazing, so much so that I reset my data twice just to play act 1 again and again, and it has a lot of stuff to do after you beat the game, hence my over 400 hours in it (I'm unemployed)

I wish I could replay this game again for the first time, please, play it with as little spoilers as possible

Just buy this game and walk into knowing as little as possible. You won't be disappointed.

Critics, per Wikipedia
Inscryption received "generally favorable" reviews according to review aggregator website Metacritic. Rock Paper Shotgun praised the scale mechanic, writing that, "You lose and gain momentum, deliver killer blows, claw back from a near-loss by being aggressive... It's a compelling twist". Destructoid liked the art style and the horror elements of the game, but criticized the later chapters' gameplay changes, stating, "Maybe it was a good idea to change things up before it had the chance to grow stale, it's just nothing gripped me as firmly as the first chapter." PC Gamer's Jody Macgregor liked the beginning of Inscryption, specifically praising how the world feels "off-kilter and…

positive · AI labelView post →I for one think it’s super cool that we can show an AI the first 5 minutes of a video game and it can learn and rebuild it for future preservation. I’m gonna try it with a lot of games I’ve missed over the years like Frog Fractions and Inscryption
neutral · AI labelView post →Finished Inscryption two days ago and I am absolutely amazed (minor spoilers). Spoiler warning: if you have not played the game yet, do yourself a favour and stop reading this post, don't look up anything about the game, and give it a go. You will not regret it. Last warning. For real. :D I tried the game out a couple of years ago when it was free on PS+ Extra and liked it a lot. Didn't end up playing all too much and once my Extra subscription ran out, I lost access to the game. I still…
positive · AI labelView post →Played Inscryption last week and by GOD, I love it so fucking much. But it does unfortunately feel like they ran out of budget halfway through. Not that the game i played wasn't satisfying, but the way they wrap things up makes it feel like I'm only playing half the full game, if that makes sense?
neutral · AI labelView post →We didn't copy or get inspired by Inscryption and Balatro as I've been making solitaire games since 2007, but those games helped lay the groundwork for more people to be willing to try out our wacky solitaire game, and I'm very grateful for that!

Leshy and P03 both had their whole world in the game, but Id die to have the other scrybes worlds. Maybe as DLCs or after you beat the game you can go into their version of the game. Idk either way I love this game to death, I will get all of the achievements one day !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A few more games I've played recently. Earlier this year I posted some thoughts on the games I'd been playing. Here are the ones I've completed recently. **Paradise Killer** As a fan of the Danganronpa series, I’d heard great things about Paradise Killer. And the ways in which this game was inspired by the former are obvious, with an eclectic mix of characters embroiled in a complex murder plot. It heavily leans into the vaporwave aesthetic and soundtrack, often crossing that border into the…

What starts as a simple, eerie card game slowly unravels into something so much deeper and more entertaining than you ever expect. The atmosphere is incredible, the soundtrack I literally put in my playylist, and the way the story breaks the fourth wall is genuinely unbelievable. Every run feels meaningful, and the mechanics are easy to learn but insanely satisfying to master. I loved how…
