The game seemed interesting at first, but it got old fast. It's a sort of tower defense game where you break jars to unleash minions that you can place and enemies you need to kill. The problem is that you usually don't know what is in which jar which can lead to RNG dooming you by making you release a bunch of enemies before you get a usable minion. Another huge problem is that your minions will usually collecting …

The heavy reliance on RNG quickly becomes frustrating, and the final insult is having to purchase essential minions from the store at absurd prices just to progress. Instead of unlocking them naturally through gameplay, you’re forced to grind earlier levels repeatedly, which drains the fun entirely.

Very neat take on the Tower Defense Genre. Striking visuals (reminds me of Krumit's Tale). Spooky and hauntingly light-hearted music adds to the hand-drawn aesthetic. Well-made cutscenes and a fun interactive journal to fill up with unlockable information...what is not to like here? Round this experience out with an excellent and fair price and you have a must-have game for those who like this genre of games. This …

The aesthetics of Jars initially drew me in. I'm a sucker for anything with a Tim Burton vibe. However Jars did not disappoint. Jars is an entertaining strategy tower defence game in which you play Victor, a young gothic character discovering the secrets buried underneath his house. You'll need to collect minions and items along the way to take out the enemies before they attack and destroy your treasure. Definitely …

neutral · AI labelView post →An idiotic design decision means that you have to grind levels over and over again to be able to buy a particular minion that allows you to even attempt a mission in the third area of the whole game. I would have refunded the game if I didn't spend 30 minutes too many attempting the grind and finding level after level that barely gave me any money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like it is relaxing
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jars gets to have functional angel wings in this game because she is one honestly 😇
neutral · AI labelView post →An absolute "not recommended" to anyone. It does not matter if the art style is quirky, or 'to your liking'. The game play loop is atrocious. 'World' 1-3 is fine, world 4 is where RNG comes in to play so incredibly heavily that it becomes part of the gameplay to restart a level if you get bugs (the towers in this tower defense like game) that do not match together to defend the chests. Mastering a hero is where the game's terrible loop shines best. You do the same thing, for 5 hours, and the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gore Kink Jars for some extra context~ Make any gore art horny. We're in artFUCK so act like it. Also, follow the rules of the game as some of these are not allowed on the Discord server or require spoilers.
neutral · AI labelView post →Jars is what you get when you take a novel idea, however interesting it may be, and try to shape it into a game with a full length campaign; a mould in which it wasn't meant to fit. From the outset you breeze through level after level with very little effort or thought. This may seem normal, most games start you out easy, but a few hours later you're still walking through most levels with little difficulty (even when going for the optional collectibles which add an additional challenge to the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is great dont get me wrong, but here i am still tryinbg to 100% the game, RNG became the main feature of the game. Not only that but also some time i clear the level and i dont get a win, And im sorry but those bug turn the game pretty annoying
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh, the basic idea is interesting but that's it Graphics and music are ok at best I have no idea what's going on Game takes forever to start so you won't forgot who made it You spend more time between the levels than playing the levels Feels like a mobile game You cannot double click a unit or a perk to add it or remove it, you need to drag and drop to the exact right spot instead There are levels that pretty much play automatically Your units who can grab keys will rush to grab those keys to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like Plants vs Zombies, but extremely repetitive. I did the first two chapters (like 45-60 or so levels), and so far there are a total of 4 meaningful things you can use, with powerups that make very little difference, and not much more variety in the enemies either. Maybe there's significantly more variety later, but this is not a good pace of introducing new material, to the point that I'm uninstalling it after two chapters.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice artwork but nothing else, the game gets boring and repetitive very fast
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game of Jars, FFXIV edition
neutral · AI labelView post →Hard pass. Pretty nice presentation which initially drew me to the game, but some really big issues. Perks getting removed from minions from no reason randomly. Impossible to understand what kind of minions the objectives of the level require, leading to randomly switching back and forth. But worse of all, randomly opening jars and monsters popping before defenders, what were the devs thinking ? This because a massive issue beyond level 3. It's super annoying and not fun. I would definitely…

positive · AI labelView post →It's very cute, but sadly it doesn't necessarily require you to have a brain to play it - which is not ideal for a strategy/puzzle game. Also, weird choice to make it luck based

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's hard to write a positive review for this game, to be honest. I was excited from the previews but the game failing to even load despite hours of troubleshooting and trying to reach out to the developers is a deal-breaker. I'm now of the opinion that even if I had been able to get the game working the rest of the game would show the haphazardness throughout.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Little to no strategy, comp requirements + perks management tedious, little content for length, buggy interface and tracking.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jars is exactly what the advert states, a strategy game with elements of tower defence. Jars' central mechanic does mirror that game mode in Plants Vs Zombies, but there's much more to it. The game area usually consists of a set of ladders 'n levels resembling an old skool early 80s home computer or arcade game (like Space Panic or Chuckie Egg) where your minions and enemies clamber up and down or fly through the floors ignoring the ladders completely. On top of this each level is designed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, only for kids. Pros.: - Fast. Simple. Some collectibles. Cons.: - Would be cool for more story. - Some configurations and levels are annoying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jars is literally just the vase breaking minigame from Plants vs Zombies stretched out for a whole game, and just like that minigame it is damn addicting. There are a couple minor annoyances that could be a turnoff for people that don't particularly like the standard gameplay loop. Things like minion perks resetting at random, your minions wandering around aimlessly when there's nothing to fight making it so they're way out of position when an enemy does come by, sweet sweet RNG, and certain…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really like the concept of the game. JARS is a lovely Tower Defense game , with a nice story and creative playstyle. I enjoy playing the game, it´s really relaxing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →JARS is an unusual puzzle-strategy hybrid developed by Mousetrap Games and published by Daedalic Entertainment. Released in 2021, the game blends elements of tactical planning, puzzle solving, and light tower-defense mechanics into a compact but distinctive experience. Rather than placing players in large battlefields or expansive worlds, JARS confines its entire adventure to a mysterious basement filled with shelves of glass containers. Within these jars lurk strange creatures, hidden traps,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Suprisingly nice. Plays well, challenge is manageble, lore is sufficiently phychodelic - well, what's not to love?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very neat take on the Tower Defense genre! The visuals are striking—reminding me of Krumit's Tale—and the spooky yet lighthearted music perfectly complements the hand-drawn aesthetic. The game features well-made cutscenes and an interactive journal filled with unlockable information, which adds depth to the experience. What’s not to like? The price is excellent and fair, making this a must-have for fans of the genre. In fact, this could even be a great entry point for those new to Tower…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →JARS is a delightful addition to the casual tower defense game genre with its endearing art style and creative level design. Most levels do not take longer than two minutes to complete, so you can approach this game quite casually while still feeling like you're progressing through the story. I completed story mode in 12.5 hours, but it can be completed much more efficiently and likely under 10 hours if you're quick. Other reviewers have commented on the RNG in the later levels, but I never…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I would recommend this game, I would say perhaps get it on sale if possible. I love the art style and the gameplay is certainly unique being like a puzzle, tower defense type game! My only issue is when you near the end, it becomes a bit standard on the bugs and loadouts you want to run for success. Also if you are hunting achievements the 'Hero' game mode can be long and tedious. Took me about 30 hours to 100% but I still had fun for most of it!

neutral · AI labelView post →I think the game would had been a tad too lopsided that way... Grace imo has the longest bits of the game and they are all horror oriented (Till you get the Jars.... a weapon to surpass all BOWS, for real the last bit of her I was just killing everything)
positive · AI labelView post →Cute, but the RNG can be absolutely brutal. Aside from the green jars your minions could be in any of the jars. And even though that makes it feel like there might be some strategy needed, there isn't. it's not exactly a thought heavy tower defense game. Nice graphics and music. The game's definitely not for me, but it seems pleasant overall. I have no feelings about it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: nothing but the art-style and the funny nostalgic games. Cons: so repetitive, very slow progression, pure luck, very bad game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You force me to grind a VERY repetitive content to be able to progress and unlock new levels? No thank you! ♥♥♥♥ you very very much!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyable little tower defense game with unique aesthetics! Really liked the vibes, though the game does get repetitive after some time. Still! I do recommend giving it a try, especially when it’s on sale, considering how cheap this game tends to get!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →poorly designed at a very exorbitant price, its fine on sale but gets pretty stale
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had some fun with this game, but it has one of the most unbalanced difficulty curves I've seen. Also, while there's a lot of stuff the game asks you to do, I would say that it mostly asks you to do the same thing a lot, rather than a lot of different things.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Works well on deck. Advertising unrelated games in the menu is scummy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hoping someone can help me ID and date this canning jar. It is a square, 1-cup jar. It looks to be threaded for a zinc lid. It is embossed on 2 adjacent sides with a script "Mason' logo, and on the other two with 1/3- and 2/3-cup markers. The bottom is embossed with a 49 and what appears to be a "JL" logo. #canningjars #masonjars #mason #antiques #glass #jars
neutral · AI labelView post →Second "world" is a slog I didn't get through (yet?). To easy for to long. Just put your minions and utilities everywhere and you will get through with some left over and no need to mess with the minion "load out" you take into the level.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty cool little puzzle game, gives big contraptions vibes, amazing and fun art style. 10/10 would hedgehog again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →collectibles are buggy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a quirky little game. It’s like a goth kid’s “tower defense” puzzler. Super simple, super fun, easy to play and get the hang of. If you’re an arachnophobe or don’t like bugs and slimy stuff this probably isn’t the game for you; but the cartoonish graphics and game play are extremely well done. All the levels are short, taking only a few minutes to complete, and are somewhat randomly generated. For a couple bucks on sale it’s well worth the price tag!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the art style. The story is unique. Game-play is straightforward. I think I'd prefer more as a mobile game because the levels go so fast, but even playing on the PC is fun and gives a mental refresh.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a neat idea and has some nice artwork but the core gameplay is just not enough to carry this game and keep it interesting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The repetitiveness in the game gives this rating.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Summary Jars is a "puzzle" tower defense game where you use various bugs and items to defeat a variety of critters that try to destroy your bat box(?) This done via breaking a variety of jars. Pros/cons Pros -Fairly nice artstyle -Good music Cons -Very rng reliant -Badly balanced -Sluggish control and menu screens -Unnecessarily grindy at times Opinion I honestly appreciate the whole feel and style the devs went for. Sadly this game plays like garbage. The levels are either…
