Year 2, Day #324 "Ju-On: The Grudge" (Takashi Shimizu/2002) October wouldn't quite be complete without Shimizu's creepy vision of the curse that won't quit. Great film and the perfect time to check it out.

neutral · AI labelView post →Watched Kurosawa's CURE for the first time (yes I know) and it left me both nauseated and dizzy (read: anxious). Been a long time since a movie did that to me! I love the bleak but that whole movie felt like a prolonged curse (similar to the JU-ON title cards, except 2 hours). Great stuff. ☠️

neutral · AI labelView post →Now watching: ‘Ju-On: The Grudge’, dir. Takashi Shimizu, 2002. Opens with scenes set in a wonderfully beige social welfare office, where everybody wears beige, and has beige faces. 🎥🎬
neutral · AI labelView post →📽️ Themed movie week with my movie club friend @xshike.bsky.social! Starting Spooky Season off with some more Japanese Horror. Tonight it's JU-ON: THE GRUDGE (2002, Takashi Shimizu). We just had the under-the-covers scene which instantly gave me a new fear when I watched this way too young. 👁️👁️
neutral · AI labelView post →Want something crazier? Look at the movie "Ju-On: The Grudge". The 2002 original. Not only did they record the creepy kid monster sounds with a CRT in the background (NTSC one) but you can also see them pitch bending the recording to make it creepier. (my original finding when I made AU DVD)

neutral · AI labelView post →I'm excited to see that the horror novella 『口に関するアンケート』 is getting adapted into a movie. I read the original novella about an year ago or so and it packed a lot of punch. The movie adaptation will be directed by Takashi Shimizu (notable for his Ju-On franchise success). youtu.be/pe0VNpQOrLc?...

neutral · AI labelView post →NEW VIDEO!!! In this, I cover the Ju-On spin-off films, Black Ghost & White Ghost. Often overshadowed by the series' previous films, I inspect why that might be the case. It's been a couple of years since I covered a film so thanks to anyone who watches it. ❤️ youtu.be/6fkXinUYJD8

positive · AI labelView post →JU-ON: THE GRUDGE 2 is one of the best horror movies ever made and I’m stuck with this official DVD release from 2006 that literally features stills from the wrong movie on the back cover lmao
positive · AI labelView post →Now watching: ‘Ju-On: The Grudge 2’, dir. Takashi Shimizu, 2003. 🎬🎥

positive · AI labelView post →Spooktober film 10 Ju-on: The Curse ★★★★ This is an excellent first instalment of the ju on films. This did scare me proper at times and the music really helps with the scares and suspense Overall a really enjoyable watch (for the bits where I wasnt hiding haha) Anyone else a fan?

neutral · AI labelView post →#ACenturyOfCinema, movie 55: 2003 JU-ON: THE GRUDGE 2
neutral · AI labelView post →Watched this with my family. This feels like old J-Horror similar to Ju-On & Ringu. I liked it lots because it has a slow build up and then showing what is actually happening. It does pay off in my opinion. Feels very eerie! Definitely give it a watch
neutral · AI labelView post →Having smoked a whole packet of J-Horror earlier in the year I needed a little break. But now I'm ready for more. So... Now watching: ‘Ju-On: The Curse’, dir. Takashi Shimizu, 2000. Shot on video, and, so far, all the creepier for it. 🎥🎬
neutral · AI labelView post →Today's movie in the deezcord is Ju-On, but I'm on the fence about whether I should show Ju-On: The Curse (first movie) or skip straight to Ju-On: The Grudge (third movie), since that works fine as a stand alone and that's the one the American remake is based on HRM...
neutral · AI labelView post →This is an especially cool release for me as a Shimizu fan! I always say JU-ON is my favourite horror movie of all time, pound for pound, and the release of the Arrow JU-ON boxset was actually what gave me the push to start trying to get involved with physical media contributions 😜 fun full circle
positive · AI labelView post →Youtube recommended me a video in which someone described both Ring and Ju-On as "kind of Frankenstein stories," and wow, it's cool that you can just say whatever you want in your film discussion video!
neutral · AI labelView post →Choose one film from each of your 30 favourite directors. Name of the film and director, along with a still 4/30 Takashi Shimizu Ju On: The Curse
neutral · AI labelView post →the movie itself I like, though it’s such an incredible Americanization of JU-ON—plot! Answers! Backstory! Frowning Google searches!—you might just hate it on principle. In 2004 it was also cut to a ridiculous PG-13 version not worth the time; director’s cut is different in some places that count
neutral · AI labelView post →What horror movie do you think everyone should watch at least once? Ju-On- The Grudge The original Japanese versions (1+2) are way better than the U.S. adaptations, which are a little more campy, but still does the movie(s) justice.
positive · AI labelView post →looking for horror movie loving moots! - The Substance - Trap - Jennifer's Body - Cabin in the Woods - Ju-on - Ringu - Cuckoo - Saw (just the first one) - Scream - Insidious - Longlegs - I Saw The TV Glow - X/Pearl/Maxxxine - The Menu - Nosferatu - Bodies Bodies Bodies - and many more! f4f
neutral · AI labelView post →[Ringu/Ju-on] Sadako/Saeki You fell asleep during a midnight horror film marathon. Waking up to the sound of moaning, you find yourself facing two spooky ghosts. Unfortunately, it is already too late. You will die in 7 days unless you take good care of the wayward spirits.

neutral · AI labelView post →Ju-rei: The Uncanny is Koji Shiraishi’s first theatrical feature film. It’s a blatant Ju-on mockbuster, down to its loosely interconnected vignettes told in reverse order from 10 to a Prologue (0). But it also has probably the best title pun in J-Horror.
neutral · AI labelView post →Observation: everyone is saying Ring, Ju-On, and then some third film that literally nobody else has mentioned.

positive · AI labelView post →Spooktober film 14 ★★★½ Ju-on: The Curse 2 First 30 mins is just a recap of the last film, which felt very pointless and left barely any time for the rest of the movie. But that aside, it was a very enjoyable spooky watch. The music in this one was very atmospheric.
neutral · AI labelView post →Its October and I havent touched anything horror related yet so time to watch a favorite while in my blankie bunch <3 I definitely always preferred the original Ju-On films over the Western Grudge movies they spawned even if it means no Sarah Michelle Gellar doing Sarah Michelle Gellar activities

neutral · AI labelView post →Smile 2 is absolute junk. The original was fine, if derivative of better films like Ju On or It Follows, but Smile 2 is just the same film again, but with a wholy unrelatable protagonist, and washed up jump scares. Skip, skip, skip.

neutral · AI labelView post →9. JU-ON: THE GRUDGE (2002) For the J-Horror curious, arguably the definitive film in the subgenre. Sleep with the Lights On terrifying but patient too, and codifies many of the recurring themes of the J-Horror boom.

neutral · AI labelView post →Every October I make a point to watch as many spooky movies as I can and the newest addition to the movie marathon last night was Ju-On: The Grudge It was really good! I loved the pacing, and was impressed that you SEE the ‘monster’ but that does not stop it from being scary in the slightest.
positive · AI labelView post →Ju-On finished~ Still a great horror film with a lot of great moments Onward to Pulse and the Horrors of The Net because Ghosts are in your Puter RIGHT NOW!!!
positive · AI labelView post →My son & I went to see the 25th anniversary 4k V-Cinema version of Ju-on. It is an excellent film, but 4K has met its match. The original video image is far from perfect. Blown up on a cinema screen, it looks awful. It's best watched on a TV. #JHorror #Ju-on #呪怨
