What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 188 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (1,229 of 1,422 positive).
Players praise the game's wholesome, cooperative design and charming aesthetics. [1][2][3] Many reviewers note the game suffers from a very low player base, making matches hard to find. [4][5][6] Some players express frustration with the grind required to unlock all content. [7][8][9]

There was a short period of time where this game was fantastic. You'd hop in and a handful of folks were your new best friends for the next 20 minutes or so, trying to work out how to get through challenges without being able to talk directly. The game was doing exactly what it promised. However, a lot of the game actively worked against that ideal. Each character has secret side-quests, many of which required …

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME; YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY IT The game is online only and you will need multiple people online at once to play it, which won't happen because nobody seems to care about the game. There is absolutely no gameplay other than the tutorial that you can play singleplayer.

There’s a corgi in this game so this was an instabuy. :) What's cozier than an online co-op game that rewards you for helping your teammates? It's simple and wholesome. I was hooked immediately. This was a magical experience, and a game hasn’t made me feel that sort of happy in such a long time. I absolutely just loved the sentiment behind this game! A game built around wholesomeness and helping people out is just a …

One of the chillest and cutest co-op games, where you have to play and cooperate with random people form all over the world and yet you almost don't get frustrated. Sadly the number of players went down dramatically in the last months and now the game is mostly dead. You're lucky if you get more than one person in your lobby.

KarmaZoo is a chaotic co-op platformer built around helping strangers through procedurally generated obstacle rooms. Each player becomes a different creature with a unique ability clinging to walls, breathing underwater, creating platforms, singing to trigger switches, and more. Runs are quick, and every room forces you to combine abilities to solve puzzles, navigate hazards, and keep the whole group alive. You earn …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a great vibe of a game, I wish I found the time to play more of when it released and it had an active player base. The whole point of the game is coop with strangers, but everyone that played has gotten their fix and moved on to other games. Less people play, so it takes longer for a lobby to fill up. Players have to wait to long, so they give up and go play something else. Now there's even less players. This game was always going to be a short lived thing. I would give it a positive…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just no This game is not built to handle a low playerbase but it has a low playerbase. You can check steamdb.info for who is online. But it's a complete gamble to play with them, and you CAN'T just wait in the lobby until people join. That's not how it works with Karmazoo. When nobody has joined, you have to exit and rejoin, because when the others have completed the loop and they choose 'play again', it makes a new lobby and the lobby you're in becomes redundant, with no way of knowing that…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is fun for a bit but gets old fast. I can't recommend it to anyone unless you can get a lot out of incredibly repetitive content. You need 332,777 Karma for all characters, 139,700 Karma for the books, and another 6,000 Karma for the locks and a few thousand more for the extras. Each loops gives on average 2,500 Karma if it completes and takes around 20-25 minutes to complete a loop when factoring in lobbies and load times. This means you're looking at about 71 hours to get everything.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first, I loved the idea. It seemed fun, and I was excited about the updates. But the game has no purpose as of now To prevent players from any mean interaction, there is barely any interaction at all. For the co-op game, it feels so empty You can’t find people you played with in-game. You can’t play with friends in public loops in any other way than randomly connecting to a lobby and hoping to end up in the same place The new unlockable characters are soo similar to each other that it’s…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really loved this game a lot when it came out. It was a really cute idea, and played pretty well. Some of the character balance was off, and some character challenges were unreasonable, but it was still a solid game with a fun gimmick. It pains me to vote down, but I just cannot recommend this game in its current state. For those who don't know, this is an online co-op platformer where you work together with other people to get past obstacles using each other's character abilities. You get…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to recommend this game, even if there's a very low player base and getting a game started takes a lot of time. It's a great time hopping around, finding out what all the different characters do, beating puzzles, and playing on each other's quirks and strengths. So yes, buy this, but buy it with friends. Maybe we'll meet in the zoo one day. EDIT: I found there's an active community hosting a weekly in-game event every Sunday on the discord to play together. Met some great people…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hi. I was one of the testers of this game. And, as you can tell, used to be a semi-active player when it was live. This game was fun, it was quite beautiful... It was, honestly one of the best vibes I've had while playing a game. Notice all the was in there? Well, soon after the release.... about... 1 month or so in. The game died. And it's been years since it's been out. The last update was 2024. I doubt the servers even exist anymore... Karmazoo is gone. It doesn't exist anymore, I don't know…

neutral · AI labelView post →It's a delightful teamwork game. I love the concept and it makes you feel good. It feels good to wait for someone who will be trapped behind a door if you leave, it feels good to use your unique ability to help everyone reach a tough ledge, and it feels good that (mostly) others will do the same for you. That's the problem though. The game has unfortunately gotten worse since launch. The devs made obvious choices to reward teamwork and encourage that sort of play and I think they did a great…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was really really interested in this game and it seems like it could be a lot of fun but I literally can't play it. There's pretty much no one ever playing it and it's online only so the entire game is just lost behind that barrier.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was great when it had players but abandoned at this point. Maybe at some point this game will be revived but as the devs have moved on we'll have to live with the short less than 6 months of memories.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This co-op game does not have couch co-op, despite the game's tags. My friends and I were unable to play because of this oversight.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome fun puzzle platformer where co-operation is necessary if you want all the collectables. Very relaxing and fun at the same time with outstanding soundtrack, only thing this game lacks is player base. Being co-op game up to 8 players, it's more fun with more players. Would definitely love to dive in the game again if players rise again. I hope this game gets attention it deserves.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great idea, but there is no one online to play with, and I cannot play alone so...cannot play the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very pleasant and cute game. Fun puzzle solving in co-op ^^. But there are also very serious disadvantages. 1. You either play only with your friends or only with random players. 2. If you have few friends, less than 5, then it’s not so fun. 3. The game is not popular, so you can wait more than 5-10 minutes in the lobby to collect 6-8 players, and one match lasts about 10 minutes. 4. Oh, and of course the grind. A sea of the grind, literally tons. Incredibly huge amount of the grind. If you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[Edit as of 2/7/2024] If you are living within the US (I personally am US West) DO NOT buy this game. The servers have dwindled down to maybe 3-5 players during evening hours with crossplay and peak player hours are early in the morning local time. [End of Edit for 2/7/2024] I really like this game, but I cannot recommend it at the current state it is in without some fundamental changes made to how the game functions and interacts with the players. While Karmazoo is exactly what you get on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a very cute idea, but sadly runs into the typical "indie big-multiplayer-only game" problem that it never really managed to bootstrap a playerbase for itself. Would have been somewhat possible to get around that with couch co-op, but that's only supported for the secondary competitive mode (which doesn't even support public lobbies). I get *why* they don't want to support it, but at some point you also have to understand that different compromises have to be made for a tiny indie game…

positive · AI labelView post →KarmaZoo is one of the most creative and original game concepts I’ve ever seen in a video game. The cooperative mechanics are really well done, the gameplay feels fresh, and the art style is absolutely spot on for my taste. You can really feel the love and care that went into the visuals and animations, they give the game so much charm. The music fits perfectly within the game and adds to the positive, uplifting vibes of the experience. The level design is incredibly diverse and creative. One…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is enjoyable, but it's locked behind online multiplayer and a dead player base. Feels like I spent more time waiting for a second player in the lobby than I've played the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately dead. And it seems clear that the reason is the simplicity of game play. Too many interesting, more involved games competing with this comparatively basic game, which seems to be deeper, but entirely dependent on a full lobby, which maybe you might get 3 people as others are saying. 5 people are on as I speak, which is pretty dang low. This needed better marketing. A shame since it seems like a good time, but had no staying power.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cooperative platformer that is always online, not worth playing in groups less than 4, impossible to get groups more than 3 on a good day. There is something of an idea here, a cooperative platformer that requires somewhere from 2 to 10 players to play and each player can select a different animal that can do different things throughout the level forcing cooperation. But I don't think this succeeds. There is no single player mode that is the point of the game, to emphasize togetherness and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you have one other friend you want to play with, you can't simply party up together and hop into online with randoms. This is a dealbreaker for me. Either bring 9 friends to a private lobby or none at all. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. Also there is local/splitscreen but you can't take your local partners into online mode with randoms. There is no incentive for players to pick the exciting or fun bonus cards; the ones that potentially result in more hearts/less grind will always win.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty cool wordless social experience with nice music and visuals. I'm a bit annoyed by how slow the characters move and seeing fake walls/platforms makes me want to close the game but that's tolerable most of the time Sadly this game will be unplayable again next month since the player numbers before the Humble Choice inclusion were at under 10 players online simultaneously...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really cute plattformer with fun mechanics. Teamwork is key, so you need to work together to find all secrets etc. The characters/animals are really cute animated and have all different abilites and funny animations. Was a lot of fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is adorable. Super fun, all-around wholesome time. First game, I was in a lobby of 4. Before a level, everyone votes on a bonus for the level. One of the options was "New Players Move Faster", and everyone chose that one, knowing I was the new player because I still had the default character. Just kinda shows the kind of game this is and the community it fosters. Really clever concept, and will enjoy playing more of it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beware couch/family gamers. Disappointingly, the "karma" mode which is arguably the main attraction of this game, is NOT available for local coop.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →KarmaZoo - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch. > KarmaZoo is a joyful, altruistic, cooperative platformer where up to 10 random players help each other with the unique abilities of 50 different characters - all for the sake of good Karma. KarmaZoo is about helping people, working together, and finding bliss in cooperation – especially when things go wrong! Interesting idea.

neutral · AI labelView post →KarmaZoo is a charming cooperative puzzler that leans into wordless teamwork in a way that should be chaotic but usually turns into something surprisingly smooth. Its light humor and adorable character designs make it endlessly fun to unlock and experiment with the many characters available. It is undeniably sweet, built around being considerate to strangers, and that wholesome tone works in its favor. Also, you can be a duck, which is always a win.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an online gaming experience and it's been a couple of years since it was released. If I were able to play the actual game outside of the tutorial I would might have fun but unfortunately being unable to find a lobby to play with anyone has left this as a "a game to play with friends only". It's disappointed with how hyped people were for this game and it's just completely dead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forgot to announce my stream yesterday, but I played KarmaZoo, a co-op puzzle/platformer game with Divis and other Fintubers! I heavily recommend checking that game out, it's pretty and has nice aesthetics. Maybe not too much replability, but worth the first experience at the least. (1/2)
positive · AI labelView post →I like the concept behind it but the game is dead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is a great game with a playerbase problem. if your looking for a couch coop game to play with your buddies i recommend it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game design is great- asymmetric coop puzzle platforming is a great concept. When you're actually in a game with an assortment of different player abilities, it's super fun. But the actual fun game is wrapped in a bunch of un-fun stuff. The forced tutorial is very slow and should be skippable. You start off with no special abilities unlocked- the game should have you pick one of a few "starter" abilities for your first round. Getting into a game is hit-or-miss. Matches should be shorter-…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly not recommended anymore. The game's core function was to embark on online adventures with different people to reach a common goal, however, the number of active players is approaching 0 and the game is just not made for singleplayer or couch coop. (couch coop is a different game mode, not the main "adventure" mode)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, but it is dead. 5 players a day from the whole world. So there are not big chances to find a lobby. But if you have a friend then you can give it a try when the game is on discount.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it requires 2 players to play, never been on when someone else was.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →super fun game, the only problem i have is the game isnt popular enough! most times when you join a lobby you're the only one there and you have to wait quite a while for just one other person.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I adore this game. There's something about a multiplayer game where you're forced to play with people all over the world, but all work together without any competition. It shows how language is not as big of a barrier in the world, since you can communicate just fine with others without saying a word. It's unfortunate that there's not often many players on the servers but if you can find a group (their discord always has players wanting to play) it's well worth an evening of your time.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really great little game but unfortunately the online is dead
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An ambitious game. I really enjoyed playing it and the only reason I stopped after only 2 hours is that there isn't a big enough playerbase to quickly fill a decently sized lobby. The main game loop, while not super-challenging, is very fun as the game somehow managed to make cooperating with up to 10 totally random strangers work amazingly well! The story didn't seem like anything complicated but it's presented in an interesting way. Also there are many many characters that you can play as…
