What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 196 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (1,052 of 1,466 positive).
Players enjoy the matchmaking and management mechanics, but many find the game repetitive and lacking depth. [1][2][3] The charming art style and concept are widely praised, though some feel the game is unfinished. [1][4][5] Many recommend buying on sale due to limited content and high full price. [6][7][3]

Seemed promising but didn't live up to that promise. Relationships don't matter, legacies and inheritance don't matter, aspirations don't matter... Only matching high-starred citizens with the jobs and ensuring number per resource goes up and not down. Gets repetitive very quickly.

this game is certainly not perfect and rather niche, and i'd definitely wait to buy it on sale. it's not for everyone, and the people who think it's boring are just not the target audience. and that's okay! with that being said, if you like micromanagement, relationship and character intricacies, city builder-like inventory and item mechanics, and STATS!! this is definitely for you. it's fun to get things up and …

It's a fulfilling time sink if you love village management with romance and medieval vibes. The art is so charming and really keeps the game compelling. It has an addictive gameplay cycle like a much more simplified version of Civ or the Sims. Recommend getting on sale though, as I think it has too little content and depth to justify full price. Worth getting lost in for a day or two.

id only recommend this game on sale. i played the demo. was hyped af. read reviews when it came out and didnt get it. got it on sale the other day for $8! i do think its worth it for that. it really is a fun game, i just wish there was more to it. it gets to repetitive even after only a few hrs of playing. its just not worth what they want for full price. but overall i was HOOKED for awhile. really is fun at first. …

My first run was almost overwhelming in a good way — there’s always something to manage, without it ever feeling too punishing. The art is charming, and the whole “play matchmaker” idea gives the game its personality. But after a while, that same mechanic (along with the rest) starts to feel a bit too repetitive. Enjoyable, just not as deep or lasting as it initially seems.

Critics, per Wikipedia
On OpenCritic, it has a top critic average of 62/100, and 43% of all surveyed critics recommended it. Rock Paper Shotgun said "it's pretty and has smart ideas", but they felt the lack of consequences for ignoring villagers' happiness encouraged min-maxing to the degree that the town became dystopian. Finding similar faults, PC Gamer called it "an awkward, goalless mix of contradictions and impersonal systems". Though they said the simulation elements were not complex, Siliconera recommended it to fans of city management games who will enjoy watching their villagers' lives play out virtually. Eurogamer called it a "capable village management sim" that does not live up to the potential of the…

60 of 230 · most liked firstI love the art, and I also love the idea of a game focused on characters and their unique personalities, but it quickly becomes clear how simplistic this game actually is. It got old for me after a couple of hours and started to feel like a clicking simulator after a while - kind of like one of those mobile games. I realize some people enjoy mindless sorts of games, but I feel it's presented as something much more complex, and $22 is pretty steep for that kind of experience, so that's why I…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the concept of the game, with beautiful visuals, but gets boring overtime after your first play through. Also the game has incomplete features (like endless mode) that will never get finalised as the dev has abandoned the game years ago. I understand it failed to hit sales targets, but they should have at least made it feature complete or made it that the community can fix it / add to it. I wish I could recommend it regardless, but I cannot.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd say the concept is cute, but the game play is repetitive and it gets boring. If I hadn't gotten it extremely on sale, I don't think I would have appreciated the price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy this game, as you can tell from how many hours I've played it. However, I did mark that I wouldn't recommend it because it's unfinished. When I purchased the game, it was still a WIP, and I won't deny that there are enjoyable aspects to the game. It's not stressful to play. It has a unique concept. The artstyle is cute. But it's not finished and I don't think it ever will be, which is truly a shame. I would only really recommend buying this game if it's on super sale. I would…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abadoned game, current state is more like a demo gameplay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The potential is insane but it's just not completely there yet and I doubt it will be. Nothing really matters save for having the right amount of resources needed by the townsfolk. Relationships, skills, likes, dislikes, friendships.... literally none of that matters. Even the 'Legacy' aspect of this game doesn't matter because you don't really get further than two generations before the game ends. I still had fun though, so I wouldn't buy it unless expectations are managed and a BIG sale is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cozy game but highly repetitive. Building your village and finding romance for your villagers is fun for the first 2 hours. Once you unlock all your buildings, finding the perfect match for your single villagers becomes a slog and lacks the careful critiquing you put into finding the right match for your first settlers. After a while it becomes almost impossible to find matches for widowed or elderly characters and recruitment of new villagers takes “years” of game time to reach. If you are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even positive reviewers had to accept the game is shallow and convoluted. You don't need those many resources if your focus is the relationships. The relationships where absolutely interchangable. The writing was off, like really off, like Lakeburg is a modern city full of internet citizens. A: "I love the police" B: "Eww, ACAB" That would be a fully on tone couple interaction in this game. Like, "eat the rich, amirite?".
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not buy this game for full price. I bought it on sale for about $8 and I wouldn't have wanted to pay any higher than that because it's basically an abandoned game. There will be no more updates and haven't been for about 3 years. It's fun for a short time but once you figure out the mechanics it does get boring and rather repetitive. If that game was still updating and changes were being made, then I think full price could be worth it since the art style and mechanics are interesting, but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →paid a whopping £20 or so for this back in like 2024. it's a good game but it's always been quite laggy, and the fact that it's been long abandoned by the devs and STILL they have the hootspa to ask for £20 is insanity. £5 id understand, but for the amount of game content and the fact it's been abandoned, this game is quite frankly not worth.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is okay, but it is HIGHLY UNFINISHED and barebone. Definately not enough content to justify the price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If there was a neutral option, I'd have selected that, but there just isn't enough to really push it into a recommend for the price. I thought it would be really in-depth with the matchmaking and family aspect to build the community, but it's not really all that important in this. Someone else mentioned it felt like a mobile clicker game and yeah, it kind of feels like that after a while. The game basically rewards you for pushing anyone to marry anyone and get you more people to train and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I haven't been this disappointed in a game in forever. The artstyle is extremely charming and the matchmaking aspect is what drew me in. But after just 5 hours I was VERY bored. I couldn't care for the families as I had hoped, their relationships is hard to keep track of. Matchmaking? It falls short and it's repetitive and not in a good way. The UI is too complicated for a cozy game, there are no adjustments to scale the UI or change the fonts (as it's sometimes hard to read with the lighter…

It gets a little repetitive after a while, but my goal was to beat it on a 75 years run. But as soon as I did, the game crashed. The same happened the second time I tried. Seems like there’s a bug somewhere that doesn’t let you finish the game. It’s a cute, cozy game and there are honestly so many possibilities the game devs could have taken this. It’s a shame to be honest. I got really invested in some of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played quite a lot at first - my first game took me a whole 4 hours. It was great at the beginning, but after about 10 hours I’m bored. Suddenly there are too many people, I can’t remember their names, all the older ones die, and I don’t feel attached to the new characters, so the game loses its meaning. The dating system gets dull in the long run. It’s a shame the developers abandoned the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm extremely sad that the devs abandoned this game. It has so much potential, but currently it's unfinished. Holding out hope that they'll update it in the future, but it seems unlikely.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has been abandoned, it doesn't have much to offer. It's cute and I was very hyped for it, but well, that's about it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game seems very half-baked and repetitive after the player has built most of the establishments. And it seems that the developers have completely abandoned the development of the game due to inability to learn from constructive feedbacks given by players in the community, as there are no new logs regarding updates.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played it for longer than it was fun, convinced there was some element I was missing that made this more than a cell phone game. I am still torn on whether I would recommend it to anyone, especially considering that its abandoned and will never be improved at this point. The art and character designs are so cute - loved messing around in the character creator. Setting up a character's relationship then career is just complicated enough to be engaging, but not crippling if you get bored and just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You hit a wall after a little bit of gameplay. All of the interactions are redundant. Nothing really progresses after a point. It could not keep my interest after awhile of gameplay. The idea for the game had a lot of potential.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →was a very promising game with adorable character design and an interesting concept but it unfortunately has been abandoned by the developers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would recommend Lakeburg Legacies for someone that likes the idea of Anno 1800, Against the Storm, or Settlements Rising, but wants less complexity and more dress up & story elements. Lakeburg has good random events between fully customizable characters, which means you can decide rather to banish or embrace Taylor Swift and Jack Black's BDSM cult, for example. If you have no desire to spend at least 1/4 of your play time designing villagers, this might not be the city builder for you.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish there was more to this game. More events that werent just death death death, and more clear instructions about the 'bad' buildings. But overall, I really like it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I completed one round in this game and will not return for another. I was fairly disappointed with the game progression, how uneventful most of the run was, and how random events seemed to not matter in the long run. Also, I didn't receive a gallery trophy when I finished my run! The text is extremely small on every device that I use, and even on my PC I have to lean forward to see. I enjoyed the matchmaking mechanic but wish that possibly some details about villagers were minimized in order…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lakeburg Legacies is a dating sim with some idle-esque management. The purpose of the game is to play matchmaker, picking the right people and getting them married. There is also a light genetic/trait system, where you can make sure the children of these marriages can become really good at specific jobs. This is the first core part of the game. The other part is managing your kingdom/city. Most of this is idle-esque gameplay: you wait for resources to be produced by your population, and then…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the first few hours were fun but it got stale really quick. I think you're supposed to play different playthroughs to unlock everything but I really don't see how you can sit for another 8 hours to replay.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah...like other reviewers has said. It will get bored after an hour or two, there is no story or anything in here. Really repetitive and it even caused my PC to lag after a new year has started to the point of the game freezing up. If you want to try it out maybe wait for a sale, otherwise it is not worth it. Edit: After finish one playthrough, I have 2 different saves but I guess it doesn't matter after you're done because the other saves is completely poof. Oh well, not worth to do another…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the demo and was excited for the full release, but had read reviews to say it wasn't worth it and to wait for it to go on sale at least. So I did, and now I understand they were right. Even fully released it still feels like a demo. The RNG of villagers leaves you strained when you get above 40, and the relationships between the couples and their neighbors don't really add anything to gameplay. It feels more like a passive resource gathering game than a matchmaking one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has a fun concept but feels unfinished and frequently crashes, and considering there hasnt been an update in years it seems it will stay this way.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This feels wild to say, but this might be my perfect hyper-fixation game. Resource management? RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT?! My silly little townspeople falling in love with the people they're not supposed to fall in love with???!!? Perfectly salacious! The only thing I find tedious about this game is the UI (which is often in the way), and the first 20 minutes where you find your ground. The explanations for new things take some time to learn, but I find the game mechanics fascinating, and it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The pros of this game slightly outweigh the cons. It started really fun, though honestly I can't see myself going back to it that often. Maybe it's just because I selected the longest game mode (100 in-game years), but it became pretty repetitive towards the end after I'd already upgraded all the buildings. I imagine it would be more engaging if played on the higher difficulties so that resource management was more important, as I did find the social / romantic dynamics kinda lacking. The art…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like others have said, the game feels lackluster and abandoned. I really liked the cute artstyle and the concept, after playing the demo I really wanted to play the full game. I feel like the game didn't live up to it's expectations, the game is too expensive for what you get.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a cozy village sim! I love marriage and generations in my management sims so I found this really enjoyable. It has a beautiful storybook style with detailed animations, I like how the profiles are customizable like a picrew avatar builder. I do wish that I could see some sort of tangible interaction though, like seeing villagers interact instead of just reading a log about it. But I'm sure that would affect how the game performs, or make it harder to manage the village. I haven't done many…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just can't support a game about eugenics, no matter how cutely they package it. Really, who are we (or more specifically, the developers) to say which physical traits are "good" or "bad" or "undesirable"? This way of thinking quickly descends into ableism. Also, there isn't much to do in this game anyway. I played for about 15 hours and then I was done. I felt like there was nothing left to do that was worth my time. With so many great games out there that you could be playing, I don't see…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you like medieval management games this is for you, super fun, can get repetitive but i don't mind.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was compelled to buy this game when it was on sale as it caught my eye. Graphics looked really good and premise sounded cute and cozy. While the game is very attractive, it is also very empty and repetitive, with a lot of just mouse clicking. I wouldn't recommend purchasing this as I don't feel like there is enough there. But art is very nice!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a cute little management game, but when they say management, they mean management. You are managing EVERYTHING. If you like to be super nitpicky and comb out every detail, THIS is the game for you. It can get a little bit repetitive and grindy because of this, but there's still lots to be entertained by and challenges to try. I have definitely lost several hours to mindlessly developing my kingdom, but I don't come back to it often. The medieval aspect of the game is the real bread and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun concept but the game does not have much content or depth get back to or start another save. For a few hours of casual fun I would recommend playing it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →id only recommend this game on sale. i played the demo. was hyped af. read reviews when it came out and didnt get it. got it on sale the other day for $8! i do think its worth it for that. it really is a fun game, i just wish there was more to it. it gets to repetitive even after only a few hrs of playing. its just not worth what they want for full price. but overall i was HOOKED for awhile. really is fun at first. wish they wouldve done more with it honestly. very cute concept. pretty design.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lakeburg Legacies is one of my favorite management games. I love being able to manage a town, play matchmaker, and watch all the gossip and drama unfold between the villagers. There’s something incredibly satisfying about pairing people together and then seeing how those decisions affect the town over time. The art style and character designs are fantastic, and the game has always run smoothly for me. I’ve never had it crash or glitch, which is something I definitely appreciate in a…

neutral · AI labelView post →Normally, I don't play games like this. I have ADHD, so games that have a lot of elements to keep track of continuously are usually not easy for me. I prefer narrative adventure games. But, my wife asked me to try it, so I gave it a chance after watching her. Gotta admit, it was fun. It wasn't hard to keep track of everything. The layout is easy to navigate once you get used to it. The storylines that keep the town moving forward are fun. Matchmaking is oddly addicting. It honestly sucked me…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too much micro-managing needed for a cozy game, too superficial for a city/resource planning game. It's called Lakeburg **Legacies** but there's not enough content to cover more than two or three generations. Okay if you get it with a major discount, but that's it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not sure what these people are on about with their complaints that the game is incomplete? It's a nice, easy-going game. Sure, it can be repetitive, but all games like this are. I see this as a more town management game and you actually get to build different buildings and put people where they would fit best. Something I think is cool is that you can just overthrow the king/queen at any point if you want? I dunno, this is a really interesting game and well-worth my time. I WILL SAY that I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In all fairness, the art is beautiful but the gameplay becomes repetitive quite quickly...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely sweet game with gorgeous art. Unfortunately, the gameplay is just not fleshed out enough and as others have said becomes extremely repetitive after about 6 hours. The management aspect is especially lackluster, where the order you build new buildings in being decided from the start. The game would probably benefit from fdropping the management more and making it more about the relationships since it is very unique. If it was worked on more I think it could have become a great game,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is very simple once you get the hang of it. Its not as deep as you may have thought most of the time im focusing on making my people work and then matchmaking. I got it on sale for around 7$ which is absolutely an appropriate amount of money in my opinion for a clicker style mobile type game. It feels like a mobile clicker game because of how simplistic the game play is and how little there is to do but I still deeply enjoy it and would recommend it on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute but a bit repetitive, wish there was a but more content. Definitely recommend getting on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes IF the game is on sale. Took me five hours to be like 'yeah I'm done'. I grinded for more achievment but it get boring real quick. Very nice idea overall just need more to do in game to justify a high price. It's ok at ten bucks tho.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game, but doesn't seem quite finished. The illicit building never made sense to me, and I wish there were more concrete goals. The demo made for a clearer more fun experience, even though the main game created more growth opportunities. I love the idea of building a town based on people, genetics, and legacies, but it's not quite seen all those ideas through. Maybe there will be a patch one day, or the game will be fully completed. Either way, I'll probably play this again in the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. Got it on sale after playing some other games from the same publisher. Wouldn't pay full price. It's a nice idea and has a fun loop. It does get repetitive, but that makes decisions a bit more impactful. There are some mechanics that don't exactly make sense - like illicit buildings (high match for employee = less negative impact on the town?). Wish it was a little bit more finished. But still a relatively simple and cozy game to come back to.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first hour is pretty good. But this game is extremely shallow. There's really not much to it. The fortune-teller really only gets any dialogue at the very beginning of the game. I was expecting an overarching lore or even a plot of some sort. But, the townsfolk don't really become memorable, the dates are repetitive, you don't even get to place your buildings in any particular place. Maybe it's just that I'm used to more strategic games and have ventured into the cozy genre by accident.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I def recommend this game! It is super fun if you like rp time management style games, especially if you like medieval themed games. Love the dating and lineage game play, same with the royal game play...but i wish there was more. i wish they didn't just stop updating. They could add so much to this game. And i have so many ideas. Like a more interactive royal gameplay, with heir drama/etc. So it's not just the first born that gets the throne. I also wish there were more events since they get…
