What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 56 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (65 of 96 positive).
Players praise the game's art style and animation as fantastic and charming. [1][2][3] Some players note the mandatory star punch to finish fights is a divisive design choice. [4][5][6]

I enjoy the ideas behind the game but some of the design choices are really bizarre. Needing a star punch to finish every match (except the first) sets up the player for confusion when he can't beat anyone else, despite depleting their health bar again and again. Introducing new moves is fine, but the input lag, invincibility frames, and hit boxes only become more confusing. When to use star punches is also unclear. …

Artstyle is fantastic. Music is great. Game itself is not incredibly functional, and lots of cracks can be seen once you get to the 6th boss and beyond. Lots of awkward frame jumps and weird design choices at the cost of extending the runtime of the game. The Artichoke boss doesn't even make sense as his attacks come out instantly and you mainly win by bugging the AI. I admired the game and it's artwork, but it's …

Really damn good Punch Out style game with an excellent art style and graphics. The controls could use a little smoothing out in places, but overall this plays exceptionally well and is well worth the asking price. The opening cheeseburger fight is a nice opening challenge that gets you up to speed with the basics of blocking, dodging, and timing your punches. Then the real game begins!

TL;DR This is a fun game with cool vibes, but has some bugs that need ironing out solid gaming for price. 7/10 PROS: This game has such a cool premise, art style and music. I liked all the different fights. Maki felt like the most satisfying puzzle to solve and felt really satisfying to beat. It's hard like a Punch Out style game and scratches that itch. The end of the game left me hungry for more. Not that price is …

I think this Punch Out inspired game is pretty fun! I love the character designs and especially the hand drawn animation. I admit there's a couple of hiccups here and there, but it doesn't take away from its overall great experience. 9/10 would play again! :)

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What sadist on the design team thought it would be a good idea to force the player to use a star punch to defeat every single opponent?! One or two opponents, but the entire roster?! Star punch knockdowns should be used as an optional way to end the fight faster, like the one hit knockout tricks in punch out, it shouldn't be mandatory to win! If I want to go rocky balboa and win through brute force by knocking them down several times I should be able to! Not this!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an amazing idea for a game, in a genre I deeply love with fantastic art direction and super well crafted animation. The boss designs (visually) are all so fun, charming and creative, can't do nothing but praise this game visually, but sadly, that's the best aspect this game has to offer, since mechanically and gameplay wise I believe has many flaws. There is many objetive flaws, like many bugs and clunky transitions between dodges and different punch combinations But I would like to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't usually leave reviews this early into a game, but man… this is BAD. I love the art, the music, and the overall vibe (the language option is PURE GENIUS). However, the gameplay is seriously lacking. The controls feel clunky and unresponsive, enemy attacks often lack proper tells or are stupidly fast. I’ve played all the Punch-Out games, Thunder Ray, Pato Box, etc, and gameplay-wise, this is definitely the weakest. That said, I don’t think the issues are unfixable, so I’m not asking…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's kinda hard to know what you are suppose to do against most of the bosses. Once I reach the 6th boss I wanted to quit playing. I completed the game but the struggle I went through to defeat each guy was painful. Attacks missing when they should have landed, stamina tied to health, input delay to do new moves, bosses only died to star punches, Unreactable attacks, .etc Many say this is like Punch-Out. It feels more like a puzzle game to me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A tasty game takes days to cook. The Artichoke in Leftovers KO! is made up of 249 hand-drawn sprites - that's nearly five times more sprites than there are calories in a medium veg! #LeftoversKO #indiegame #animation #indiedev #gamedev
neutral · AI labelView post →Leftovers KO! is a Punch-Out!!-like made by a solo dev with delightfully weird art, where you play a man fist-fighting food in his apartment. I am a sucker for a Punch-Out!! clone, and the animation looks like something right out of Liquid Television.
positive · AI labelView post →I love everything about this except for the game play. It looks amazing. The enemies are fun. The music is fine. It is just the actual game itself. I feel like it could be better if they took some more time working on the responsiveness of the controls. I wish the developers nothing but the best in their future endeavors.

neutral · AI labelView post →Ok ok, hear me out. Yes the game has some fundemental issues. Yes, the controls are clunky and never feel perfectly in sync even when you get down the timings (use a keyboard! It is way more accurate than a controller for this game). Yes, there is seemingly little to no rhyme or reason why certain moves work or don't work on certain bosses until you played them enough times to figure it out by sheer guess work (or consult a YouTube video). Yes, the game can be very obtuse in explaining…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game reminds me of the original Alien Hominid in many ways, it's animated with LOADS of character, and does a lot of really cool things of it's own that separates it from it's influences. However, it also reminds me of the original Alien Hominid in that it's very flawed, in ways that it's inspirations are not. Sound cues for one thing, there really aren't any. Which is a bit odd to be honest, considering that Punch-Out has always had sound cues as part of it's boxers attacks, and added…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i do like the art style and animations but this game is way too buggy especially the cabbage refight probubly best to get this game when it has been patched.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10 Dollar flash game in 2025. Gameplay has very little to offer outside of it being "Omg member punchout!", well here's punch-out, again, but worse. I honestly can't tell if its intentionally giving off early 2000s flash design due to its over the top animation style paired with its generally terrible UI and audio and "retro" pandering. Stock menus, generic music and notably low quality samples for SFX, forced sovl or just stupidity im not sure.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In terms of controls, it's a simpler version of Punch Out with their own rules. One button for punches. Throwing any punches requires stamina. You have to KO your Leftovers with a star punch to end matches. The gameplay does not feel as responsive as I thought it would be. For me, it becomes a problem towards the last few bosses where moves are vaguely telegraph. This is the developer's first game. I do really like how weird and well animated this whole game is. Gives me that feeling of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish that steam had a middle option between thumbs up and thumbs down, because that's where I would put this game, but I will give it a very slight towards thumbs up because I still enjoyed playing and I want to see the game succeed. I have some big concerns about the game however. This game has a lot of potential! I LOVE the art style and animations a lot and I'm glad that there are more punch-out like games coming out. I'm a huge fan of punch-out so this was a pretty excited buy for me,…

neutral · AI labelView post →A couple hours of fun for less than the price of take-out. I put this as a weak recommend, as there are some noteworthy softlock bugs (the one I noticed was in the fourth fight), and the game is too short for a Punch-Out style game. (I'd set the bar at about 10 fights minimum in the base game, and 4 for any expansions. Maybe include a chicken wing opponent?) And one of my biggest gripes is regarding a specific part of the gameplay. I'm just going to say... Bald Bull 2nd match. Anyone who…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This feels horrendous and unresponsive - the animations are pretty poor and don't provide enough wind up to time your horribly delayed dodges. Landing punches feels underwhelming and for some reason someone thought a phone ringing mid fight for tips was a good idea.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely one I had to write down and take note of. If you want a Punch-Out style game to scratch that itch while you wait, may I recommend Leftovers KO?
positive · AI labelView post →Got this game because of the gorgeous art style and the "Punch-Out!!"-inspired genre. Initially ran into soft-locks, but after the patch on v1.4 the game is now running smoothly for me on mac. For someone who had always wanted to experience the 'Punch-Out' genre I am thoroughly enjoying this game and it's quirkiness. However I believe if there were some slight design tweaks, it would significantly improve the user experience. Here's my feedback so far: Combat The regular punch doesn't quite…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short but very fun boss rush boxing game, there are only 8 fights and 7 of them i thought were fantastic, But the fight where you battle 2 bosses at the same time is a puzzle more than anything and i could not find out what the game wanted from me, turns out one of the first things i tried was correct and i was just timing it wrong. The other 7 battles all were a lot of fun and do a good job at standing out from each other and keeping you on your toes with new gimmicks as well as new moves…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Saw this game on twitter and was immediately drawn in with it's art style and animation and after beating a couple stages, I can safely say that, yeah, this game looks consistently awesome visually. However, gameplay wise, it's pretty frustrating. Attacks need an inhumanly fast response time to dodge with zero windup for you to telegraph what attack is gonna be used against you (This was especially the case when fighting the pizza). Pair this with the controls being kinda sluggish and at…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is not for everyone I can tell. it's primarily for people who enjoy punch out style games. I have just completed the game as I am writing this review. the game itself was not very long but for me it was fun. I can see why some people don't like the mandatory star punch to win every fight. It definitely be annoying for some of the fights but for some I can say it's probably funner to figure out how to get the star punches (at least for me). But I definitely don't like your stamina…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know many reviews have made the exact claims I'm about to and have done it in a much better articulated way but I feel passionate enough about Punch-Out and any games like it to say them anyways. Visually this game is amazing, I love the old webcomic-esque art style and the sets are well drawn, in the audio department there's nothing crazy good or crazy bad... But the gameplay is by far the weakest point of this game, needing a Star Punch to beat EVERY BOSS EXCEPT FOR THE FIRST is jarring…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →-the animation and art is just amazing, this felt very different for me in great way, remind me of old retro game which you have to beat
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredible art style and animations! That alone is worth it! Oh. and it's a lot of fun too! Awesome throwback to the Punchout series! Recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've only played the first couple fights, but they're very cool. I'll be playing more later today. Looking forward to the next fights. Love the art style.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looks pretty, love the concept, never played a punch out game but after this I will consider. The controls have mad lag, that plus things have near to no warning or tells means you cannot capitalize to things on reaction. Bust out your Eightball cause you are gonna have to start predicting or guessing. The game is a really good example of how "trial and error" doesnt work out all the time. Sure you will figure things out after exhausting every options, or look up how someone beat it and then…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I found the game fun, some bosses it felt really weird where I could hit, where I could gain/use power punches, and how I should dodge some attacks, but overall its a fun hour long game that satisfies a Punch-out itch.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buggy and not fun. Its a shame
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →as a leftovers hater this was fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Damn, what a fun game! I finished it in 2h or so, but I had a blast. Figuring out each boss's weaknesses, be it timing or which attacks work or not scratched an "old school" itch I've had for a while. And they each feel unique. I'd rather have this much fun for a little while and then try more games, than be stuck on missions or repetition made to rack up play time. I really liked this! Solid work, devs!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's genuinely fun and clever but a bit short once you learn how to play it. Definitely buy if you see it on a sale and hopefully they'll add a new fight down the road or achievements to give it some replayability.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i think ppl complaining about the difficulty (stamina being same as the health bar, star punches, reaction time) are just bunch of complaining-ass babies. the game is not hard - you just gotta die and fail in order to learn the enemies' moves and adapt that way... that's how video games generally work... granted, the game is not perfect. there is some awkwardness in the flow of the gameplay and it kind of feels like a flash game, BUT i don't think it warrants a bad review. i feel like the work…

neutral · AI labelView post →Great animation, and a super cool boxing game reminiscent of, but still distinct from punch out. The Punches and controls feel great, and there's no better feeling that watching the enemies explode all over the walls with that final punch. If you like awesome animation, spoiled food based carnage, and punch out, play this!!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beat the game in the span of 2 nights so i'll make this brief, I had a lot of fun every boss required it's own dedicated time when it came to learning move sets but the only real difficulty comes with being rusty when it comes to these sorts of punchems either way definitely recommend if you've got the time
