Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 184 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (1,542 of 2,736 positive).
Players find Legendary a flawed but enjoyable B-movie style FPS with a unique premise. [1][2][3] Many note the game suffers from bugs, clunky mechanics, and unbalanced gameplay. [4][5][6] Some reviewers appreciate the nostalgic feel and recommend it for fans of old-school shooters. [7][8][9]

Legendary is a mixed bag at best, you can tell the developer's put alot in but maybe it went over budget or was pushed out too quickly, and it shows. It’s a standard shooter mechanically but its mythological enemies and story are genuinely unique ideas that help it stand out. For the most part, the combat is serviceable and even fun at times. Unfortunately, that’s where the praise ends. The game’s biggest downfall …

The Maximum Overdrive of video games. Legendary is unintentionally one of the funniest FPS games I've ever played. Its over-the-top setpieces, cloying attempts to portray horror (think F.3.A.R, or Run Like Hell if either couldn't get enough of jumping over sharks), ill-fitting butt rock soundtrack, and overwhelmingly fast pacing, makes for a campy B-movie tier spectacle. While the premise isn't that original if you …

This game isn't high art even by mid2000s FPS standards but I have no idea why reviews are so low. Is it janky and unremarkable? Yeah. Are the enemies bullet sponges and the guns inconsistent at most ranges? Yeah. Are there annoying instant-death traps, areas where you have to set the framerate to 30FPS for the physics to work, and some of the worst platforming ever seen in a video game? Yeah. But there's also …

Played this on repeat as a kid on the xbox, Looks much better on PC. Its campy, fun, linear, and wild. There's just as many "Michael Bay" moments as there are bad animations making things funny. Buy this to enjoy and experience a different era of gaming. Do not buy this expecting some polished AAA gem. This is the B movie of videogames in the 2000s

Critics, per Wikipedia
The PC and PlayStation 3 versions of Legendary received "mixed" reviews, while the Xbox 360 version received "generally unfavorable reviews", according to the review aggregation website Metacritic. Eurogamer noted that the Xbox 360 version was "hilariously bad" citing unresponsive movement and twitchy crosshairs as well as Spark Unlimited managing "to take Unreal Engine 3 and make it look like a 1997 Half-Life mod". X360 Magazine (later X-ONE Magazine) faulted the game for unskippable cutscenes and "action sections that feel like a movie you just happen to be walking through, and not interacting with." IGN said of the PC and Xbox 360 versions, "the gameplay comes across as messy and…

You are invincible, can fly/teleport anywhere and have access to every block and more. Is it cheating to play Grand Theft Auto and spawn in a tank or guns? Is it cheating to play Goldeneye 64 and turn on DK mode? Is it cheating to play Halo on any difficulty other than Legendary? If it's a single player game and you're fine with it, then it isn't cheating.

Anyway this game has potential if they remake it in latest unreal engine where levels are redesigned with more variety of new mythical…

Considering all the scores, reviews, and internet discourse about Legendary, I really thought it was going to be a dumpster fire, luckily, I like to give chances to strange stuff, and Legendary is fine, good even. It's pretty original and different, and while I think it's a bit too clunky and unfinished, it has its charm. The chaotic nature of a megalopolis being invaded by mythical creatures is so weird it's funny, but seeing a griffin…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think people are way to harsh on this game, yes it is janky as hell and yes the story is cheesy and b-grade at best, but honestly the concept alone is the only reason why i think this game is worth playing, the idea of mythical monsters wreaking havoc on modern day society is just to good to ignore, i really wish games would explore more on this concept and that they could have a better execution.

neutral · AI labelView post →First playthrough review time. Legendary has a simple story and the characters are not very deep, but they fit the style of this kind of action game. The game also has the look and style of an old action movie, which gives it a different character. The gameplay is mostly linear. You move through the levels, shoot enemies, and continue to the next area. The maps are simple, and the enemy AI is weak in some parts, but the shooting works well and the action keeps moving at a good pace. There…

Do not doing the same mistake: do not ruin your the childhood memories. -conceptually the game is great - a pandora's box that brought mythological creatures into the modern world and started the apocalypse. neutral · AI labelView post →This game can be fun and enjoyable ONLY if (1) you do not mind dying because of recurring glitches and bugs, and (2) you are prepared to frequently restart the game after becoming stuck due to technical issues. Progression is also frequently interrupted by moments in which certain objects cannot be passed because of poorly implemented invincibility frames. If you are able to overlook these frustrations and approach it simply as a kind of platformer, the game still has merit.
