60 of 145 · most liked firstMovie recommendation for tonight, Leviathan Peter Weller stars in this B-movie creature feature, it's sorta like The Thing but instead of the arctic it's set aboard a deep sea mining rig and the monster is particularly fishy. Great supporting cast including Ernie Hudson, Daniel Stern, & Amanda Pays

Funny but always in service of the scares. I liked AR-15 Leviathan. Gladys is an all-timer movie monster. Strong ending. RIDICULOUS cast
positive · AI labelView post →Double movie recommendation for tonight, Deep Star Six Another underwater horror movie released the same year as Leviathan, it's also a great B-movie creature feature!
neutral · AI labelView post →Today is the 39th anniversary of 1989's deep sea horror movie Leviathan! One of Stan Winston's unsung great monster designs, it featured an oceanic mutant combining The Thing with Alien. The movie is fun, but it always bothered me how little we get to see of this beautiful beastie!

positive · AI labelView post →I misread the title of Pixar's LIGHTYEAR as LEVIATHAN, and, long story short, I have a brilliant idea about what studio should make the next HELLRAISER movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →Highly recommend checking out John Chrostek's excellent short story collection Boxcutters or his novel Feast of the Pale Leviathan and buying the film rights from him so that he can maybe pay off some credit card debt
neutral · AI labelView post →Magnifico is a perfect depiction of Hobbes’s Leviathan - Disney literally made a movie about youth showing up for messy liberalism over clean authoritarianism. If only it were as technical good as its many monarchist movies
positive · AI labelView post →Going to try and periodically watch “bad” movies that I probably will very much enjoy. Today: Leviathan (1989) Things in the ocean actually terrify me so I tend to really enjoy ocean based monster movies.

neutral · AI labelView post →Andrey Zvyagintsev, best known for "Leviathan," has premiered "Minotaur" at Cannes. It follows a transport co boss ordered to choose employees to send to the front. He says he'll try for a Russian distribution license but expects piracy will be the only way to watch the film back home.

neutral · AI labelView post →I was developing an updated comic adaptation of the 1989 underwater monster movie, Leviathan. And there was one guy who, after all script & concept changes were approved, asked "What if this took place in space! Like Aliens!" If you are aware of Leviathan, you KNOW why that was absolutely absurd.
neutral · AI labelView post →I hate to be a downer here but this creature made an appearance in the early 80s movie Leviathan.
negative · AI labelView post →When you’re in the mood to watch a crappy horror movie from the 80s that received a whole 18% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, don’t hesitate to fire up Pluto TV & watch Deep Star Six. Twenty-year-old me loved this movie. Leviathan comes in a close second.

positive · AI labelView post →Have you ever watched Leviathan? Underwater horror movie in the style of Aliens, nothing brilliant but it's a good watch.
neutral · AI labelView post →Spooky rec day 25 Leviathan (1989). While nowhere near as good as Carpenter’s “The Thing,” I’ve always cherished this film as an often passed over, often forgotten “Thing under the sea.” It uses practical effects and has one of the Wet Bandits in it, and he’s an asshole.
positive · AI labelView post →Belzebubs (English version). EDIT: Tried to check if it's available outside Finland, but failed to find the line that says it's not. Changed the link to a trailer on YouTube. The show will be available in some other countries, such as Spain in next month and Czechia and Iceland some time later. > Belzebubs is an animated sitcom about a perfectly ordinary black metal cultist family. Sløth is juggling his stay-at-home dad obligations with his lifelong dream of being a black metal rock star. His…

I like the TV series a lot (watched first, before reading the books), I really liked "Leviathan Wakes" and "The Butcher of Anderson Station", but the second and third volumes were meh. The second one is too similar to the first one and the third one, I don't know, just didn't click. "Cibola Burn" is good, finally the themes have changed, the setting has changed (Ilus) and there are new mysteries to uncover (well, I watched the TV series, so…

neutral · AI labelView post →Morning Womble! Just finished The Thursday Murder Club - I liked it with its aggressive twee-ness, and thought it was funny, but I can see why people might not like it. But I lasted only 20 minutes with the film, despite the excellent cast. Also reading Leviathan Wakes, first of the Expanse books.
neutral · AI labelView post →We then watched Leviathan. Very much a Dealz hybrid of The Thing and Alien but I am a sucker for these kinds of set ups. The cast are appealing (Hudson a great line in complaining) and the creature effects are just wonderful. Some great creepy moments too.

neutral · AI labelView post →For reference, I love atmospheric horror, especially sci-fi themed stuff. This is in the category of "Alien(s), but underwater!", though maybe half a step above Leviathan and Deep Star Six (between a B movie and a hit).

neutral · AI labelView post →Yes! One of Human's favorite writers and movie people's! Truly a shame he allowed Hellraiser movies to be made without his creative control! Cenobites as "just hell demons" was so, so dumb in the later movies! At the 2022 version returned to cenobites having rules and whatnot set by Leviathan!

neutral · AI labelView post →I was going to say that I doubt they would because of how far out they've gone from ATLA but then I remembered there was a recent movie with the gaang so it's possible, if they've been watching it. They made the Leviathan Grimm because they'd been watching Godzilla at the time and the dumb Ghira/Fennec (or was it Corsac?) punch scene was taken from HeroAca.
neutral · AI labelView post →while watching 'Leviathan' (2014) last night (good movie), I thought: I bet Russia has plenty of justifiably depressed people, especially among 60+-year-olds.
positive · AI labelView post →Directed by George P. Cosmatos (I think it was his first American film, actually, pre-RAMBO 2), which is likely what lead to them working together again on LEVIATHAN. This has legit become one of my favorite film of all time after seeing it last year...it's fucking EXTRAORDINARY.
positive · AI labelView post →Watch: About Schmidt. Great movie. Trash: The Abyss. I'm so fed up with Cameron as a person, plus I feel like the ham fisted delivery of the film's message hasn't aged that well. Give me Deepstar Six or Leviathan over this any day...
positive · AI labelView post →I remember watching "Leviathan" as a kid and Ernie Hudson made it all the way to the very end of the movie. I was so pleased. . . . . . . . . . And then in the last scene the fucking fish monster jumps out the water and drags him in to drown. Fucking racist Hollywood!
negative · AI labelView post →Ohhh I've never seen that one. Adds to my list. Was Leviathan the third film? I am struggling to remember.🤔 Sometimes the movies we love are not the best. But they are the ones that connect with us. That's what I believe anyway. I like so many movies that aren't award winners. 😜

neutral · AI labelView post →My single favorite director is back with another apparent masterpiece after an almost decade-long hiatus. Can’t wait to see this. This guy is pure cinematic genius, and if you haven’t already checked out his work, start with either “The Return” (2003) or “Leviathan” (2014). #filmsky
positive · AI labelView post →The same question could be asked of several Cannes films from the last 15 years or so, such as 2014’s Leviathan. Clearly Russia wouldn’t be submitting it, so maybe the jury would’ve felt like they needed to give it the Palme instead of Best Screenplay. Same with basically any Iranian film. (4/)
neutral · AI labelView post →In Hellraiser 2, he realizes a girl was manipulated into opening the box, so he doesn't take her to Leviathan. He's a monster, but he has a code. Always enjoyed that (until everything after H2 turned him into a flat movie monster).
neutral · AI labelView post →Not really. I just remember it being really oppressive, and really tough to sit through. The reason I say I didn't finish it, is because I don't have anything on Letterboxd for it and I write something for every film I finish! I should probably give it another go. I think Leviathan is my favourite.
