Extremely disappointing considering the first chapter, its characters and setup. The main character's powers end up being nothing more than just having empathy. They are erratic, underutilized and as useful as the plot demands. Your decisions don't really affect the outcome, just people's feelings or their lives. The setting, while nice, gets overused as the setpieces you encounter in the first chapter cover 90% of …

Life is Strange: True Colors: Beautiful on the Outside, Complicated on the Inside Going into Life is Strange: True Colors, I wasn’t expecting another Life is Strange (1) level emotional breakdown… but I was hoping for something close. And what I got instead was a game that is visually beautiful, emotionally sincere at times… but also strangely distant in ways I didn’t expect. Let me make one thing clear from the …

i absolutely loved this game. i genuinely don’t understand the hate it gets bc i had such a lovely time playing it from start to finish. alex is genuinely such an amazing protagonist and she deserves the whole world. i absolutely loved getting to know everyone in haven springs and by the end of the game i genuinely didn’t want to leave. haven is so cosy, the scenery is absolutely gorgeous, the soundtrack is chefs …

Life is Strange: True Colors is an emotional, beautifully written narrative adventure that hooked me from the first scene. Alex Chen is one of the most relatable and well-developed protagonists I’ve seen in the series. Her power—feeling and interpreting others’ emotions—adds a unique twist to both gameplay and storytelling, making every choice feel meaningful. Haven Springs is gorgeous and full of charm, with a cast …

Pros: Environmental designs are stunning Cons: Choices don't feel like they matter The storyline is pretty short compared to other LiS games The characters aren't written strong enough to connect with

Critics, per Wikipedia
Life Is Strange: True Colors received "generally favorable reviews" according to review aggregator Metacritic. IGN praised the setting of Haven Springs, writing that the game has "arguably the best setting in any Life is Strange game to date". Game Informer liked the writing of the game, stating, "True Colors' writing is so strong that it didn't need a supernatural ability to tell this story." The reviewer put additional praise on the character of Alex Chen, calling her character "one of the best protagonists I've encountered in years". Justin Clark of GameSpot enjoyed the story's themes, feeling that some of game's interactions were "powerful" and "emotionally resonant". However he…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First two LiS games were GREAT. This one, not so much. Unlike Don't-Nod's brilliant story telling, both environmental and explicit, and varied and interesting characters, this game, made by a different dev team/company is only a pale, wanna-be, surface level imitation of only some of the more mudane aspects of first two LiS games. Unlike various locations, this game takes place 90% of the time in one tiny 100m town block which, while having some inclings of a good concept, ultimately feels more…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You play as Alex Chen, a young woman emerging from years in foster care to reconnect with her brother Gabe in the idyllic mountain town of Haven Springs, Colorado. Alex possesses supernatural empathy — she can see and feel other people’s emotions as colored auras, and sometimes absorb those emotions herself. The power works less like a traditional game mechanic and more like a storytelling lens focused on trauma, vulnerability, and emotional connection. Haven Springs is the game’s greatest…

Gabe has gotten his life together and finally found his sister, and invited her to live with him in Haven Springs, Colorado. Alex just wants to be a normal girl in a normal town, but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If your coming off Life is Strange 1 and 2 then this game will feel like a Halmark movie. Lower stakes, Smaller location and smaller cast. You will either love it hate it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I spend most of my time feeling other people’s emotions, trying to fix what hurts and help however I can. Yet no one seems to notice how I feel. That’s why Life Is Strange: True Colors feels so powerful — and so heartbreaking. For me, it’s the best entry in the Life Is Strange series, because it understands what it means to carry everyone else’s feelings while being unseen yourself.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just replayed LiS1 right after playing this one. Compared to the first game this story is kinda lame. It feels like nothing happens and then the game is over. Wouldn't say its horrible, but for sure doesn't live up to the standard of LiS1 and 2.
