What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 215 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (544 of 608 positive).
Players describe it as a cozy, low-stakes detective game similar to The Case of the Golden Idol. [1][2][3] Many praise the charming hand-drawn art style and relaxing atmosphere. [4][5][6] Some reviewers note it is short but enjoyable, with puzzles that vary in difficulty. [2][7][8]

I, unfortunately, realized far too late to attempt to refund that this game uses AI art. I felt something was off while playing but disregarded the feeling to try and give the game a chance. There's a thread in the community hub detailing the AI art usage and linking relevant information so if you're wary of AI usage I'd suggest looking there before buying.

I picked this game because the hand-drawn art caught my attention, and I'm so glad I decided to give it a chance. The developers clearly put a lot of care and passion into making this little cozy game. You play as Mary during her first year at university, solving all kinds of everyday mysteries by exploring each scene, paying attention to the smallest details and connecting clues through logic. The puzzles revolve …

Little Problems: A Cozy Detective Game is exactly what it says on the tin. If you've ever played The Case of the Golden Idol (or the sequel), this is the exact same game, but in a cozy, low stakes setting. And I'll be honest, that really does it for me. The game and its artstyle are very charming, the vignettes which you have to solve are cute and paint a lovely picture. No, the overarching story isn't as complex or …

This was about as cozy as a detective game can get. Golden idol except instead of brutal murder, someone dropped the ball on a group project or got lost at a music festival. This was very soothing to play and the last case was a delight. I won’t say more about it, you’ll have to play it yourself. no notes on the game. final score 25/10.

This really is most easily explained as The Case of the Golden Idol, but going for a slice of life theme instead of murder mysteries. You look around the scenes where you pick up words that you then use to fill in what happened. It was solid enough and I got through it in a couple hours. It doesn't need you to think too hard until the very final chapter though, so if you want a really difficult game you might want …

60 of 280 · most liked firstI played the demo of this one a few years a go and remember it being promising, with a cute story and simple but satisfying gameplay mechanic. You hunt around to collect all the words that you can then use to fill in the questions posed. It's great that you can jump back and forth at anytime to do so and everything you need is in the scene - though it does mean that you have to find the names of characters you've already named in previous scenes over and over. I really enjoyed the story…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite the cozy theme and cutsey graphics, it's surprisingly difficult. Well, it's not *as* difficult as its inspiration, the Golden Idol series, but the twee, cozy, anime visuals mislead you into thinking that this will be a casual entry into this genre. Far from it! Some cases require serious study and re-examination of the clues. As a general rule, I prefer to gouge out my eyes rather than watch anime or indulge in this Kawaii hogwash, but it's surprisingly well done here. The visuals…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have no idea what is going on with the usage of AI for artwork in this game, the forums seem to all say it did. The devs also aren't outright saying the removed it all. It doesn't disclose this as per Steam's TOS on the store page, otherwise I wouldn't have wishlisted it. But I was generously gifted it by a friend and only found out after beating it about all this AI usage. But even all that aside - this isn't really a deduction based game as it would have you believe. It's truly just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Little Problems: A Cozy Detective Game leans a little hard on the "cozy" part with its simplicity – but on the other hand, the game might be exactly what you want to wind down with, and a cast of characters and a vibe set on doing do just that.🍁 Review: www.rpgfan.com/review/littl...
neutral · AI labelView post →I like the cute look and the idea for some lower stakes detective work. The game is pretty boring though, the cases aren't interesting, the writing is uninteresting so the clues become so forgetable. It doesn't feel like there is much deduction it, feels more like hunting for the one sentence in the scene that tells you the information you need, also putting in the same names over and over isn't that interesting and the way the information is hidden is uninteresting. The first name will be…

neutral · AI labelView post →I wish I could give this a mixed review, because I can see how some people will love this game, but I was unfortunatley not the among the target audience. It is a pretty, colourful, cozy, cute detective puzzle visual novel for a younger crowd and even if the solution is right there you still have to think a little before finishing the case. However, it feels very juvenile. I didn't find myself caring one single bit about any of these characters, and therefore I struggled to remember which…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought Little Problems because the art style looked super cute, and trying it out didn’t disappoint! The game is pretty easy, but there’s one part where you have to figure out people’s names and that was tricky for me since my memory isn’t great, so I had to write them down lol. And when you’re solving the cases, don’t forget to collect the cupcakes because they’re hiding, so click everywhere you can! Achievements are really easy to get too. Overall, it’s such a cozy and fun game!

positive · AI labelView post →I really dislike this game, at first I thought it was because I didn't like games like the Golden Idol, until I realized. This is not a game of deduction, it's just busy work. You're not solving anything! A case that can be solved in one sentence make fill out a form with useless info. You're just filling out what you see, whether it's relevant to the "case". As for the "cases" or "little problems", it's basically A wants B, C has B, case solved. This is not a detective game, this is the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very sweet detective game with a light to moderate level of challenge. It's surprisingly refreshing to have the deductive reasoning be about light, everyday problems instead of grim murders and demons taking over the world or whatever. The different types of information you have to figure out are quite varied all of them tie in well to the cute aesthetic.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cozy detective game about nothing important. Takes the Golden Idol gameplay and puts it in a new context. The puzzles/deductions aren't very difficult (expect the last level, that one was a doozy) and it's all very low stakes. Kinda relaxing and takes your mind off all of life's bigger issues for a while, so that's nice. Not super invested in the story, but frankly it's only there to introduce new "cases" and the overall arch isn't really that important or interesting; In fact it only affects…

positive · AI labelView post →The gameplay is okay. Like many of its kind, you use context clues to uncover the story. The main issue is... there isn't really much of a story. I found the plot and characters uninteresting. It is also a very short game I was able to complete in a single sitting. The last couple of levels were somewhat challenging, with the last level being the best one and the only one with any kind of real mystery to uncover.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →=YAY= - Cute art style - Unique gameplay =MEH= - Too expensive given the limited number of puzzles - Gameplay not accurately reflected in the trailer, practically no decision making - Rather superficial storyline - Puzzles were rather boring - Vague hint system Very lukewarm reaction to this game. Perhaps if it was a few bucks then the quality would be understandable but given the price, there could have been improvements to the puzzles and overall gameplay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Little Problems isn’t bad. Really it’s just a little dull and repetitive. I never really found myself caring about the characters and definitely felt like abandoning the game about 6 cases through. Of course, there are highlights to be found in the game’s art and character design. And I also really liked the two part masquerade murder mystery level that closes the game. Although Little Problems didn’t really connect with me, it might still be a solid choice for someone looking for a low…

Scratches that "detectiving through mad libs" itch right good!
positive · AI labelView post →There is a Big problem with 'Little Problems' and that is that the game is 'cozy' only in name, but the underlying gameplay is extremely frustrating. First of all, the character's names do not carry forward across missions. This means that you will need to learn their names and fill them in every single time. I had to fill in the main character's name 10 times. By the way, none of the characters are remotely interesting, or even do anything interesting, which will make you want to remember…

neutral · AI labelView post →This was technically nice, but I did imagine the game to be a bit different than it actually was. I didn't expect the game to mostly rely on text. I thought it would be more observing (i.e. looking at images) and figuring things out, not reading and memorizing. I don't necessarily retain text very well, and while you can take notes, you have to switch back out of the solving screen to look at them, meaning you can't look at them at the same time as filling in your answers. All in all,…

neutral · AI labelView post →I thought I would of loved this one consindering I'm a huge fan of duck detective and frog detective but I was so wrong. The story is SO boring which made the cases really boring as well, the 'puzzles' felt so samey and you have to do the same thing in all the puzzles, match names to the same people over and over again. The thing that made it nice was the animations and art styles, but yeah, felt very disconnected with this one. I did 100% it and its really easy to do so if thats your thing,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just very tedious while not having an engaging storyline. Sure, it's supposed to be about mundane daily life but the whole game just feels like a chore. The "cases" are basically all just a short summary of some event happening + a cast of characters you need to assign names to. Couldn't make it past case 6.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You remember how someone on Twitter played Disco Elysium circa 2020 and thought it was too "grimy"? She wanted a game with the same gameplay and writing style of DE but didn't want any murder and instead wanted it to revolve around "a young witch trying to solve the disappearance of her neighbour's cat in a small village in the Alps". And everyone made fun of her because to strip away the edge and grime and anything too real about Disco Elysium is to lose a massive important part of the game…

neutral · AI labelView post →Short type of game like under a few hours to 100%. Art style is cute and simple. Each case is connected to each other. Its nice that the player is forced to break down all the clues but having to organize them while solving the cases. Which would be perfect for the younger audience. However, fill first and last name every single time made it a slog. The character a bit plain, but I did enjoy that we got to see a ending and what the characters did afterwards. I was happily surprised about the…

What I was not expecting was how adorable and happy this game is! It has none of the darkness of Confidential Killings, the sordid nature of Roottrees, or the insanity of Golden Idol - instead of solving murders and exposing affairs, we get to help Mary through her first year of college. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really loved this cute detective game. Puzzles were fun, with complexity just right for the overall lighthearted nature of it. Definitely a product of love.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🔸 EXPECTATIONS: a 'fill in the gaps'-type of detective game. 🔸 REALITY: a very cute and light-hearted 'fill in the gaps'-type of detective game. 🔷 Little problems: a cozy detective game (LP) is a 'fill-in the gaps' game in the style popularised by the Golden Idol games where the MC, Mary, writes her thoughts of diverse events on her diary. She's not an aspiring detective, so the player will have to find all the missing information, instead. 🔹 It's a cheerful and happy game about the daily…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Didn't expect to enjoy this game more than I thought XD I was really invested in the family and friends of the MC. Characters are memorable and the story is good. What to expect: This is a "Case of the Golden Idol" clone but the story and cases are more relatable and slice of life with anime aesthetics. Don't get fooled with the art style, or how people are saying the cases are low-stakes, because the puzzles are your standard deductive-game difficulty; I had to resort to writing stuff down…
