Players praise the cute art style and relaxing atmosphere. [1][2][3] Some reviewers find the puzzles too simple and the gameplay tedious. [4][5][6] Many note the game lacks depth in farming and inventory management. [7][8][9]

I'm sorry, I can't recommend this otherwise cute game. I Kickstarted this game on the promise of good puzzles and town building goodness, but... It's slow and babyish, the non-"puzzles" simply have you touching everything once or twice, or walking a path and getting a thing... For example, a block sliding puzzle where you simply have to get every block to the opposite corner it started in, but there's plenty of room …

The definition of tedious. The farming is probably the worst I've ever seen in a game. Even the fast travel is frustratingly slow. Most of your time is spent doing fetch quests but the only way to check what you need to get is to go back and ask the character who requested it. The roll is mapped to F on PC so you have to do finger yoga if you want to roll right. No way to re-map controls either. So many things like …

Lonesome Village is a quirky mix of Zelda: A Link to the Past (sans combat) and Stardew Valley, with a cartoon aesthetic that reminded me of The Sword of Ditto. It features an adorable coyote protagonist who is tasked with bringing the village of Lonesome back to life and rescuing locals that have been turned to stone in a tower that reaches far up into the clouds. The gameplay loop is fairly simple. With the help …

Addicted! So cute!!! Reminds me a lot of Stardew Valley with the chill gameplay, but on a really adorable level! Love the story too. Puzzles are not frustrating, but thinkers at times, which is great! Can't wait to continue the journey!

Zelda-like life-sim game that's cute, charming, wholesome, and hits right in the feels. Lovely game that starts out easy, but ends in head scratcher puzzles that feel extremely rewarding when solved. Don't expect this to be Stardew. Don't expect this to be Zelda. It's it's own game, and a dang good one at that. I completed the game at 17 hours, and am now in the post-game territory. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a cute puzzle game with a grain of farming (you get to plant bananas XD) I liked the puzzles, adorable characters, map is small, but atmospheric, music is calming, fishing is easy (maybe even too easy) What I did not like: - there is no fast travel so I spent a fair amount of time trying to get to certain places in the map and getting stuck in borders - inventory view is uncomfortable where there is no sorting and everything you have is crammed in one row - changing tools/items is…

neutral · AI labelView post →A wonderfully cute puzzle game with little bits of farming, resource farming and tons of little puzzle sets. Pros: -Adorable characters -Fun puzzles -Silly quests -Cute story -A really adorable game all around that I thoroughly enjoyed! Cons: -Inventory is an absolute mess, no management capabilities, the chest system is just a long line of items and no organization. -Planting and gardening is the slowest, most time intensive thing I have ever done and keeps me from wanting to do any of it.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought I would love Lonesome Village since it looks like a mix between LoZ and Animal Crossing, plus I've enjoyed some of this developer's other work. Unfortunately, the cozy atmosphere I expected was quickly ruined by annoying, tedious gameplay and lifelessly bland NPCs. I would have instantly refunded if I didn't buy it way before I actually started playing. Doing anything in this game is frustrating, with limited backpack space and no way to upgrade. You can eventually "fast" travel,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game had potential. The art style gives off the air of a polished game, but the issues come about fairly easily. The story might have been decent, but frankly it was hard to tell, given that a lot of things came out of nowhere and were never explained in the slightest. When it comes to game progression, things are simply just not all that fun. The puzzles are fairly easy, but combined with the overall hand-holding nature of the game, it really feels like the player is being treated like a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best way to describe this is "baby's first puzzle game with farming sim elements.' It's not.. bad necessarily. The art is cute, albeit simple. The puzzles themselves are good, at least the few of them that I experienced were. However, the issue is that the gameplay is exceedingly simple. If you like farming sims, this game offers little. Like fishing? Well, the gameplay for doing so in this game is pres space.. wait... press E. That's it. The gameplay loop? Fetch a quantity of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I backed this on Kickstarter many moons ago, and really wanted it to be good. Sadly, I feel a bit let down by the experience. Though it succeeds in being a cute game, Lonesome Village tries to be like too many games at once -- Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Stardew Valley, to name a few -- and in doing so, lacks its own unique identity and substance. I finished the main story line in just about 8 hours, but I could see the full game with all side quests and achievements taking 20+ hrs to 100%... I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is incredibly boring, sorry. Way too easy and there is nothing "catchy" in the game. Neither the storry nor the characters nor the gameplay. Just nothing. The game seems to have no soul and feels like eating a bland/tasteless soup. It lures with its cute cartoon design but yeah...totally not worth it. But I would totally recommend it for children.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sometimes you just want to sit back and do some mindless gaming without having to think. This game is perfect for that. All you do in this game (currently of me hitting chapter two) is fetch quests, simple puzzles, and roll yourself around to get where you want to bc who wants to walk.. nah we be rolling. This game is SIMPLE and that means that this game is not for everyone. There is no combat, you aren't trying to figure out the best way to make money in a short amount of time and you…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An obvious attempt at a cross between Stardew and Tunic, although it lacks depth in certain elements to really be comparable. At times it feels like a very guided or even forced experience. You always have just a very limited set of paths to move forward with the game. The puzzles are mostly unoriginal and more for teenagers than adults looking for a cozy game. The crafting, item handling is clunky with controller. Cutscenes and conversations feel slow and repetitious. Animations like digging…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Puzzles for toddlers 101. Honestly, I was already skeptical when the first 10+ minutes of the game was minimal interaction with an NPC explaining the most basic facts to you. Like, maybe if you've never played a video game before... but yikes. It was like beating me over the head as a tutorial. And the rest of the writing is not any better. You free villagers from the tower and they're all like, "Huh, that was weird. Well, I'm going home now." Which is incredibly underwhelming. The idea of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I reeeeeally wanted to enjoy this game as the art style is beautiful and the story/gameplay seemed like a refreshing concept. Unfortunately it feels far more suited for children as the game play is very simple and a bit too handholdy for my liking. The puzzles themselves are far too easy, making for some very boring and tedious gameplay. Reminds me of game I would play back in primary school. I'm bummed because it gorgeous but maybe better for a younger audience. <3
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this game because it looked super cute and I love puzzle games, the puzzles are fine and the art and animations are so cute, but the amount of unnecessary and unskippable text is infuriating. There were a lot of other small issues that contributed to my negative opinion, like the interact button affects everything you can interact with at once, so you can accidentally initiate conversation while shaking a tree, and the interact button forces an animation even if nothing is actually present…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the cute art style and description of the game. Sadly there is a great deal of polish needed to make this a good game. The puzzles are very simple. The secrets are extremely easy to find. The story is presented in a simplistic way that is less story and more presentation of facts. There are also some puzzles that seem unfinished. There are puzzles involving instruments then make no sound when you interact with them. There are shape matching puzzles that complete randomly before all the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As many people have stated, there are similar vibes to Zelda and Stardew Valley that I got while playing Lonesome Village. I enjoyed the simplicity of the game and helping all the villagers. It left me feeling cozy and content when I fully 100% the game. There are still some things you can do as far as decorating your house after the main story is complete. Any form of customization always makes me happy! I do have a few cons, but nothing that would alter my recommendation. Cons: - No quests…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got stuck on a bug where items didn't respawn that the devs had no useful recommendations for. I ended up reinstalling in the hopes that it'd fix things, but I didn't realize that'd totally nuke my progress because there are no cloud saves. This game is too tedious to bother repeating the early stages to get back into it. It's disappointing for a game that's not in early access to be this buggy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tldr: very cute, not enough game I backed the Kickstarter and the original pitch sounded a lot more exciting. Good points for this game are the art and music. Bad points are most everything else. Controller support is there but sometimes the controller just doesn't control. Most of the puzzles were too simple (unlike say a Zelda game where they ramp up in difficulty). Dialog was uninspired and contained some noticeable typos. Growing fruit and cooking were a major drag. Only about 8 hours of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The premise of this game is really good. Unfortunately that's where the accolades end. As soon as you turn on the game you're hardly given any immersion or world building. Events happen way too fast with nothing connecting them in between. The screen just fades to black and suddenly you're in a different area fixing up a house for no reason after you rescued an owl from a statue. None of this is foretold either it just happens. The puzzles are mindless and easy and the game play loop is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a bit harsh to say that I don't recommend this game but given that there are only two options, I opt for not recommending it. A Tiny Sticker tale has been on my wishlist and I bought Lonesome Village in a package deal with that. Loved A Tiny Sticker Tale, but Lonesome Village fell short even though it features all the elements that I usually love and seek in a game. First of all, the beginning feels extremely slow and dragged out with unnecessary cinematics every 2 minutes and a guide…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Though the game is incredibly cute with its art style. The puzzles are made for children. Literally puzzles you'll see in a kids puzzle book. However, I think the puzzles aren't really the focus of the game although it does look like that at first glance. I believe the game is pretty story focused. I might've skipped through some dialogue here and there due to boredom from the puzzle tower and I just wanted to progress ahead. But after you've done all the tower puzzles and you continue to help…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Death by a thousand cuts. The game has the making of a great title but it completely falls flat due to a ton of small issues. 1. The sound design. The music is fine (if a bit generic) but the sound design is atrocious. I can't describe it but there's this weird thing about certain sound effects like the sparkle sound effect. It's just grating every time I hear it. 2. The over-tutorialization. I understand that this game probably wasn't made for me but after the little intro section: I REALLY…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wouldn't recommend this game but I won't say you should avoid it. The first half of the game is relaxing and quite interesting. Each level of the tower contains unique puzzle. BUT! Controls are set up for gamepad/touchscreen. UI works bad with keyboard/mouse, especially shops UI. Gardening is very, VERY tiring. To perform any action MC stands on the left side of processed tile, animations are long and could not be skipped. The only way to point to a tile is to move your character and hope…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lonesome Village is a very cute game. Its art style and the idea of mixing puzzles with life sim aspects was what instantly drew me in when I first saw its trailer! I really wish I could recommend it for these reasons, however, I think the game unfortunately drew short of being actually fun. I'm going to start with what I enjoyed. As I said before, the art is great - all the characters are a joy to see, The puzzles are also good. Most are pretty easy (no need to lookup walkthroughs online!),…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am not the target audience for this game, which is a shame because it looks like it would be up my alley. The game advertises itself as being effectively for any age, but with how much the game handholds you, and the complete lack of complexity in the puzzles, alongside with the very simplistic plot, it's clear to me that older players are not the target demographic. This all said, this game would be perfect for younger children, as the low-stakes, low-complexity design would make for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I backed this game on kickstarter so I have a bit more of an understanding of this game than the average consumer. Over time I have seen this project grow and grow and now being able to play the game this growth has been to its detriment. The game tries to be too many things with too little personality or gloss. Little to no worldbuilding, random quests that achieve little. I fixed the windmill and it still doesn't spin. If you want a Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing experience you will be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The puzzles and game play are "cozy" as promised, but the level of difficulty is so low that you just... Do everything and move to the next one so quickly that you don't have time to enjoy anything. The depth of the world and characters are unfortunately shallow as well, which would have been a saving factor with the puzzles if there was more to immerse yourself into. As a Kickstarter backer I REALLY wanted to like Lonesome Village. Unfortunately I can only recommend this to children.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lonesome Village is a small Indie RPG that borrows some elements from big franchise, such as The Legend Of Zelda, this title aims to get some indie rpg fun with puzzles and really cute art, so far i've been enjoying the gameplay and story, altough it's really straigh forward it doesn't take away the fun of solving puzzles and just vibing around the city with the cutest villagers and really relaxing soundtrack. I totally recommend it if you want a game you want to chill at and also enjoy a bit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeeeaaaah. I'm glad I only paid a few bucks for a key. It has that cheap mobile port feel to it (The UI even blatantly does that). Movement speed is too low, puzzles are - from what I've seen so far - not enjoyable. And everything takes longer than it needs to.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think this game would perform the best if marketed to children. It's cute, cozy, and doesn't rush you. I would have returned this game after about 30 minutes if I didn't buy this long before I played it... but it's not unbearable. I keep playing, waiting to get "hooked" like I usually do with these kinds of games and it just... never happened. Now I'm just on a grim mission to finish it so I can uninstall it. I would buy this game at $5, but definitely not $10 or full price. What you see in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →44. Lonesome Village This game was given to me by the devs and I'm just looking forward to playing this puzzle life sim game! It reminds me a bit of Zelda but there's no combat so I'm sure it's a less stressful time to complete
positive · AI labelView post →Cute, charming game, but the QoL features I've come to expect from modern games are lacking. To wit: - No quest log. NPCs offering quests go through their whole dialogue every time you talk to them to check up on quests, meaning you need to sit through several lines of dialogue multiple times unless you just happen to have the right things on you the first time. - No autosaves or 'save anywhere' features. The game uses save points as its main system. - No way of quickly swapping between tools.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An excellent and competent first try. The puzzles are simple and clean, and feel much more the centerpiece, rather than the town-buildup aspect. Each and every NPC defaults to a "Nice to see you!" after you've exhausted their fetchquests. They don't interact with anyone but you, they don't comment on story changes, nothing. The agonizingly slow pace of any action doesn't appear to have any purpose, and travel is equally clunky for opposite reasons- outside of the tower, you can't spam roll fast…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have yet to finish the game, but have 5 hours in at this point. Very fun game, it has elements of Link's Awakening (map, look and movement of char etc), Story of Seasons (farming, gathering etc), Animal Crossing (villagers, errands for them, customization of house etc), and Cult of the Lamb (story, etc). Yet somehow all these influences work in harmony, resulting in an addictive feedback loop in the way HMs and SOSs make you lose hours. By no means do I mean this as a bad thing; I love this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am sure this game is great on the switch but on the PC it is absolutely terrible. No explanations of what keys do what, no rebinding and being given instructions without any context. Supported by slow graphics and transitions, unskipable cut scenes, forced movement and a tutorial made for someone who has never ever played any sort of game before. I backed this on kickstarter as it looked good but now I have finally got round to playing it I find it extremely patronising and poorly made for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't get me wrong, I do actually like this game but there's just a lot of QoL issues that come up that tip the scales in favor of the 'I probably wouldn't recommend this game' camp, which really sucks bc w a bit more polish, this would be a fantastic little game! The characters are cute and the art style is so fun but so many of the little issues add up into being one big issue that doesn't feel all that worth it in a way. For example, things like the farming just feel so slow, and when…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ehhhh, i usually like this kind of "wholesome" laid back adventure, but there are too many anoying things for me to truly recommend the game. The pacing is glacial and a lot of the puzzles or activites are just way too simplified. Therre is no quest log to speak off and NPCs repeat themselves all the time. It's not bad, per say. It's cute and I started out pretty positive, but the many tiny annoyances started to grow and now I'm not sure I will bother finishing it. I let it sit for a while, if…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art style is absolutely adorable. It's a non-combative puzzle game with a ton of fetch quests, so if that isn't your thing I doubt the cuteness will sway you much. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a cozy game to lose yourself in, Lonesome Village is perfect for you!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this one. It's very cute, but that's where the quality of this game ends. It's very hand-holdey to the point where it will actually take your controls away and play the game for you. The characters dont have any personality beyond their looks. If you're looking for the dynamic of stardew or zelda, go elsewhere.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/1x-2L5qIqTg This is something I will play when I felt like chilling, very cute-looking Indie RPG game with good story and animations throughout the game. Everyone is stuck inside a rock statue and the village is all empty, you have to rescue the villagers 1 by 1 and solves the puzzles to go deeper into the castle. Score - 8/10 ( Sweet Game )
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →100% the game by giving a lesbian couple an engagement ring... on Pride Month (but for real, good story and cute graphics, pretty easy controls, tons of cute animal people. 10/10)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is an interesting premise but has tons of flaws, playing it felt like a drag and my enjoyment was slowly diminished. Firstly a paid official guide, really? I don't really understand why this would be made, especially since a lot of the collectibles need VERY specific conditions to get. Oh you quickly browsed through the music shop which is almost entirely cosmetics? Too bad, a quest requires it. Fished enough that you don't need to ever do it again? Well you better hope you randomly…

If you like short, cozy puzzle games for the Switch, I highly recommend Lonesome Village. My cousin was lucky enough to help them debug, and as a thank you, the devs made my grandma a memorial. Say hi to Matoka!♥️

neutral · AI labelView post →This indie adventure has some appealing aspects, such as its unique art style and relatively simple puzzles. The art style is simply delightful, and the puzzles, while not particularly challenging, provide some entertainment. However, there are several notable factors to consider. Waiting for animations, which occur in various situations throughout the game, can become a significant annoyance if you're impatient due to their high frequency. Additionally, the UI/UX for inventory and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I suspect that if my age was in the single digits, I might have been inclined to give this game more of a chance. Heck, the game starts in a way that's eerily reminiscent of one of my favorite games in this genre (Alundra), and I was really digging the art. But then the game started tutorializing me. And boy, I did not appreciate the way the game spoon fed me everything from game mechanics to lore, sometimes in ways that made less sense than having me seek out such things would have. It was so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's just too rough around the edges. It tries to emulate a bunch of things that make other games "cozy" but it doesn't do those things great. If you're going to tout the fact your game has no combat and is puzzle focused, those puzzles had better be GOOD and they're just not. When you get your own substitution cipher WRONG in a game like this it really undercuts the mystery. And endearing yourself to villagers is almost entirely fetch quests, generally involving extremely tedious farming.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lovely little puzzle game, but it does have its rough patches. Pros: A variety of puzzles, plus a way to skip the harder ones if you feel overwhelmed A cast of adorable characters and a somewhat-customizable avatar A way to quickly ascend/descend the tower of puzzles A compelling story that ties into the game for those who like lore, but doesn't overshadow it for those who like to just do their own thing. A fast-travel system. Diverse representation in the characters. The devs keep an eye…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game. Beautiful art, fun puzzles and a satisfying final encounter. It was the perfect low mental energy time sink for me. The not so great is the lack of a quest log & the storage system. I felt like I needed to write down what each villager wanted because I would forget. The bag space needs an ability to upgrade it to at least 20 items & the storage boxes I would polish those up. If you like wholesome, puzzle, cute games buy this one. Full price is 100% worth it.

Lovely game that starts out easy, but ends in head scratcher puzzles that feel extremely rewarding when solved. Don't expect this to be Stardew. Don't expect this to be Zelda. It's it's own game, and a dang good one at that. I completed the game at 17 hours, and am now in the post-game territory. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing Lonesome Village for about an hour now, and here are my top comments: - The game exceeds visually and soundwise. - There are really clever puzzles that can be a challenge, but the game makes sure the player doesn't get lost by providing enough information, without feeling overwhelmed. - The story so far has been interesting enough to keep you hooked, plus the characters that you discover kind of remind me of board game like Root, kudos for that!! - I'll update my comments when…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played on deck, worked well. Very cute game, nothing like Stardew valley, tho. I don't kno why, but some sounds irritated me. Some puzzles were insane and I did skip them, lol. Very slooooooow actions, like farming... But other than that, it was cute and nice puzzle game with cute town management.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm just starting to play, but I will say the game is a must if you enjoy a cute and relaxing atmosphere, nostalgia will hit you real good with the Zelda vibes, and personally, the art style is just so lovely. now I'm not going to lie to you, not all the puzzles are hard, and maybe if you are a super hardcore gamer you would feel a little bit underwhelmed, but I think is a good thing to have a relatively low challenge while enjoying all the other wonderful aspects the game provider, and lets…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game! It not only has the cutest characters but also became a new comfort game during the first hour in. The gameplay is chill and smooth, which makes it entertaining without making it frustrating to beat. The characters' designs are really visually pleasing and I need a plush collection of them asap. Also, I adore the little Zelda references sprinkled throughout the game. I can't wait to finish the story, I'm addicted! 20/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall I liked it and think it's worth a play if you're looking for something easy and charming. Like the charm and puzzles were enough to keep me progressing and outdoes the confusing decisions I see in other elements. I honestly would love to see a harder version of this game. Maybe with no dialogue? I think it would have been even more charming if they communicated through the icon talk bubbles only. But if you're looking for puzzles on the level of of Zelda or harder, this will…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It feels so unfinished. The story and graphics are cute however there's no real guide for quests or even the weird symbols which is kind of annoying as someone who enjoys hidden lore. I've noticed there seems to be a decoder in the community hub stuff which, cool, but if there's one in the game it'd be nice to get before facing the big bad. Maybe I missed it It hinders you by focusing on your character whenever he grabs something or steps into certain puzzles which, for someone who struggles…
