[4][5][6] Some players find the difficulty punishing, with unbalanced encounters and frustrating mechanics. [7][8][9]

I've been looking for days...weeks..months if not years for a new experience. Something that makes me feel something. Something that moves me. Something potentially horrific but not sexual. Something beautiful as it is depressing. This is the best game I've played in more years than I can remember. The ending left me staring at my screen, drinking in the music and utterly frozen. This story is as relatable as it is …

Most normal day in Quebec. Setting that aside, this is a really cool eldritch body-horror game with pretty great writing. Despite the 'horror' aspect, which is a pretty significant portion of the game as you'd expect, this game also has a lot of kindness and hope in it. Check it out if you don't hate RPGM-style games!

For a game that does such terrifying things to people- the way it warps their bodies, their minds: it's a game that truly, deeply, loves people. There's a tenderness to it- not the painful tenderness of Spine, but not dissimilar. There's a hope to it- not the hope of Jasper, but not dissimilar. There's all this care and optimism in the face of a world that is as bleak and cruel as can be and yet which is still …

I don't know how, this game made me care about a bunch of sociopaths, a mutated baby rat, asmongold (but a lot better), and A FREACKING VENDING MACHINE If you liked Fear & Hunger, this game is 100% going to be your liking The Goods: -The atmosphere is incredible -Stupid amounts of content in this game for the prize -The lore is really good (Unity and mask ending is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) -Combat is actually enjoyable and …

Insane game. Very few games are as confident as this one. It knows its good without even trying. There's honestly TOO much content to see in this game. For $10 dollars it's a no brainer. This is easily one of the best rpgmaker game of all time, and I don't think there will be a game that will be coming for the crown anytime soon. The art does a lot of the heavy lifting initially, but man there's just so many layers …

97% of the 307 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Look Outside. The complaint that keeps coming up: unbalanced difficulty with frequent cheap deaths. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Look Outside received "generally favorable" reviews from critics, according to the review aggregator website Metacritic. OpenCritic determined that 94% of critics recommended the game. Critics praised the game's particular use of horror, as well as its general atmosphere. Jordan Biordi of CGMagazine praised Look Outside for its ability to create genuine horror from its nightmarish monster designs and disturbing atmosphere while still making them feel compelled to move forward. Lucas White of Shacknews similarly described the game as being "about that character in a horror movie who foolishly opens the door the audience just knows the killer is standing behind", saying that curiosity is a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2. Look Outside Horror RPG with turn-based combat and some of the most gorgeously grotesque pixelart I've ever seen, magnificently offputting creature designs, it's astonishingly good and still might be my game of the year. I can't recommend it highly enough, and it's a steal even at full price!

neutral · AI labelView post →Look Outside has been an unexpected success from its humble beginnings as a small game jam project. @frankiepixel.bsky.social has some big plans for it the rest of the year and penned a lovely look at the community’s support and path ahead. 🪟👀 store.steampowered.com/news/app/337...

neutral · AI labelView post →I think Look Outside might be my game of the year so far. I was enjoying it but bumped into some difficulty that kinda stopped me in my tracks, so I started a new playthrough and realized there was a LOT I'd missed. I'm having a much better time now, and I got friends! Creepy horrible friends!

neutral · AI labelView post →Mentioned it a bunch, but Look Outside, fantastic as it is, was just a small side-project. Malison is Couloumbe's BIG game.
neutral · AI labelView post →This wasn't made with an intention to drive the player desperate, sad or hopeless. This was made by someone who loves humanity and respects your time. Genuinely one of the greatest examples of media where the journey is as good as the destination. If you love horror media and can't help but empathise with weird monster freaks, this game is for you. Just play it, stop reading the reviews.

positive · AI labelView post →My review will mean nothing and nobody will ever look at it. BUT, this is truly a wonderful game, the combat feels good and is fun, the encounters are always tough enough to make you have to actually apply strategy, the art is absolutely astounding. The interactions you get between characters is fun and lets you better understand them. Multiple playthroughs are warranted due to different party members you can get and builds. Overall, 10/10

positive · AI labelView post →If this game looks or sounds remotely interesting to you, stop reading and just try it! I'm having a hard time finding the right words to do this game justice. Here's a few facts: "Look Outside" is special. It will surprise you at least once per in-game day. I regret at least two choices. The story and the atmosphere are rather bleak. The storytelling however and many of the characters are genuinely wholesome. It's not terribly scary, but there's a lot of body horror and cosmic…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look Outside is a survival horror, party based rpgmaker game. You play in a modern apartment as something cataclysmic has happened. You explore and play in turned based combat. The game has challenging combat, excellent horror sprites, and a good story as well. In a lot of ways its like a more accessible fear and hunger with limited resources, horrible consequences, and a lot of mysteries to uncover. This game is excellent but it does have one pretty big flaw. You start the game with a…

You wish that you were playing it, you re-go over everything that you did during your last play session so you can try to make sure you didn’t miss anything, and you think about what you want to do the next time that you play it? This is that. This is that game.
