What people are saying
Most players warn the game is abandoned and unplayable, but a hopeful minority awaits a revival.
The overwhelming majority of players say the game is dead, abandoned by developers with no updates for over a year and empty servers. Many warn not to buy it, calling it a waste of money. [12][13][15][17][24][28][30][31][32]
A smaller group of players still love the game's unique extraction shooter mechanics and space pirate theme, and hope recent dev communication about an engine upgrade might revive it. They urge others to join and keep the community alive. [1][2][3][5][6][7][8][9][11]

He was unhappily conscripted from his chapter to serve as the personal body-guard to an Ordo Astartes Inquisitor mysteriously tied to his long-forgotten mortal origins. . Commissions open!
neutral · AI labelView post →Dead game with dead development, there was so much potential here and its just a complete waste
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was a good game, i had so much fun with my friends but.. it's dead. Devs abandoned the game. Don't buy it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had very much fun with this game. Overall it is amazing! Great Gameplay, fun setting and loads of difficulty. Sadly the devs let it die. No active development, no active players. Therefore unplayable cause there are not enough player to fill a lobby :( Fair well, fellow Marauders. We loved the time we had exploring!

James, known as Elcid Barrett in nautical circles, lists having once won a game of Merchants & Marauders among his qualifications.

neutral · AI labelView post →They dropped 1.0 2 years ago then abandoned the game. Its currently dead now and you cant get servers for it. Games like this should be de-listed and forced to give players refunds. They could have just added an offline mode with bots at he bare minimum. Dont buy this game, its a waste of money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →17 months without an update, they abandoned a previous game (The Black Death), and this one is clearly abandoned as well. Do not support this developer.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY THIS GAME but maybe soon because they're back, somehow? idk, wait for someone to review the next release first but damn was it good and full of hope. I'm rarely sad at games that die. This one bothers me. There was no reason. It was just abandonned. If they ever pull a 90% off sale or something, grab it, sure, but just remember it'll turn back into a dead abandonned game after that weekend. I'd jump right back in if the player count came up, tbh, so let's hope they do…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1k hours on record, we knew the risk and we still ventured into the deep depths of space. This game had so much potential but lack of communication from the Devs and Publisher killed any and all hope left for the game. 30 players daily and no updates. I'll always remember the good times but there will never be any new memories.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →in my opinion the best and most unique extraction shooter I ever played. Just hard enough to have stakes, but still small enough maps and simple enough gameplay to understand. Ship combat like nothing I have seen before or since. But completely abandoned by the developers and completely empty of players. Disappointing. Some say better to have loved and lost than never loved at all, but personally I would be happier if I never knew this game existed in the first place. So much potential, so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chaos Marauders is the perfect game for a snowy midwinter’s eve: my Skaven fire-throwers just accidentally set light to my entire orcish battle line and burned the whole place down. Toasty.
positive · AI labelView post →I really enjoyed this game when it was still being supported, it was a nice take on an Extraction Shooter that respected my time way more compared to Tarkov. But the devs stopped working on it after they dropped the "1.0 Update." The game has some seriously missed potiential that I don't think will ever be realized, especially now that Extraction shooters are more common and in some cases just better than what we currently have with Marauders. I would love to see this game come back with new…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2 years without an update, worst studio aot ngl, this game had SO much potential just to be ruined by lazyness of developers, hope they bancrupt for this
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Totally forgot about this game and just came back to the store page to see why the negative reviews. Definitely do not buy this game any time soon because the last update was in August of 2024. Don't let these bot Dev comments fool you. If a dev actually responds to this review with a coherent comment I will change it to positive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Totally forgot about this game due to the devs ignoring the player base for years on end. Now they come out with a production update after years of radio silence? They are just squeezing a little more cash out of new players who don't know better. Players, save your money. Devs, you have made too many mistakes, your reputation is destroyed, move on.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Please don't let this game die. Add AI/NPC enemies so people can still enjoy the game when no one is online. Many players would come back if they could play solo instead of waiting for matches. A solo mode with NPCs would keep the game alive, attract more players, and eventually lead to more online activity as the player base grows. Please consider it.

neutral · AI labelView post →Honestly one of my fav games that has unfortunately became dead, the devs have came out to claim they are still working in silence and i am hoping that when they drop the big update itll pull in a huge wave of players back and new ones. dont listen to all these negative reviews there is alot of content in this game and a wide option of maps and mini objectives to do in all maps, this game is amazing and it has been review bombed but the devs havent pulled the plug and that makes me trust their…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Please read this before buying the game. 2022 or before: This game, was, by far, the greatest game ever made. It was smooth movement, great gunplay, and the audio was amazing. Every game was different as the maps rotated without your choice. The mix of gunship gameplay, breaching ships, entering POIs, and then extracting was unheard of. There was ONE major issue. The ships you would buy would break sometimes. Such as spawning in with no guns, going completely missing, entering on a completely…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is effectively dead, and the last statement from the devs was a half-hearted apology that read like it was AI-written. I love this game, and will continue to play it. It has unique mechanics, and I like the gameplay and environments. That being said, The current state is unacceptable. Unless the current problems are addressed and fixed, spend your money elsewhere.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It just wasn't my cup of tea. It's one of those games where you play a round and immediately realize it's not for you. The gunplay was poor, the graphics were just okay, and the gameplay loop wasn't exciting enough, so it just didn't catch my interest. The basic idea was actually pretty solid, with arriving and departing in your own ship, and even ship battles. It was a breath of fresh air in the extraction shooter genre. I didn't refund it at the time because I still saw a little potential…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has flat out been abandoned and is entirely populated with either people who refuse to give up on this dying game and move on or the people who killed it, cheaters. Do not waste your time or money. If the devs would just put a pve mode it could hold this game over until they get around to fixing it if they ever do but that seems to be a pipe dream. Despite this games solid bones, it is dead as dead can be and frustrating to try and play in this current way with the 5 minute at the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warning! Abandoned project! This game had so much potential to be the next major extraction shooter. It had great idea, climate and story to become greater success than Arc Raiders or any other upcoming looter shooter. Devs flopped completely and ruined something that could have been an amazing game. Stay away! Don't buy! Let it die in peace. If you do buy this game, don't be surprised you won't be able to play it - there is literally nobody on the servers and devs are banning people for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY THIS GAME It was amazing, tbh I like it more than Tarkov and ABI, space + board a ship + big ships like maps + extraction + good bosses = nice game but devs zzz they didnt compromise 100% with this game, so now is literally empty in all servers XD I tried to play it again a few times but is impossible, steam chart is in 10 players avg so... dead game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game had so much potential, but the devs have abandoned it. No news or update in over a year. 10-20 people playing at any given time on steamcharts. I keep checkin in every so often with hope that things have changed, but nothing has happened. 141 hours of my life gone to abandonware.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was great wile it was populated. Hands down one of my favorite FPS games. It had great aesthetic, a bit of clunk yes, but on once full populated servers the gameplay loop was very fun. unfortunately development SEEMS abandoned along with radio silence from the devs. as of this post its been about 17 - 18 months since any official word on the status of the game. BUT, the servers are still online... i would not be surprised by a sunset post eventually, just very disappointed. i've…

neutral · AI labelView post →Do not buy this game! Worst case scenario, you're getting a game that's been abandoned. Best case scenario, you're buying a clunky, unfinished game, that's in the process of being torn down and remade. Yes, the dev post from April is all about apologizing, 'making things right' and all the other boilerplate corporate buzzwords you've heard before. Developers had all the time in the world to inform us that they've hit a roadblock. A single post along the lines of 'we're having problems with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game got left behind in the world of looter shooters, it was better than arc yet the stopped caring about content updates and failed to do anything about the cheaters.....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →until the devs actually come back and make this game what it can be this review will be bad.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are new to the game you better like playing against people who played the game non stop in the past few years and knows the maps like the back of their hand, because that's pretty much all that looks like is left. Tried a few games and watch friends play and almost always ended up the same way. Dead the the hand of a heavely armored guy with a "big" gun. At this point the game is not new player friendly. More and more I feel this type of game is only really fun when it comes out. Once…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game used to be amazing updates were coming out at a good pace the community was a healthy mix of toxic and friendly this was one of the first games i played when i switched to pc and it taught me the fundamentals of keyboard and mouse the atmosphere was insane sounds echoed in hallways bots running at you with knifes on prison it was a experience i had a very good time in this game and have put a couple hours into it but now the game is dead i do not care what macdallan says in the community…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't recommend the game in its current state. I'm not making this review to bully the already small dev team. I loved Marauders so much, in my absence from more hardcore shooter like Escape from Tarkov, Marauders filled the niche perfectly. >Low Stakes looting (nothing like Tarkov's LEDX's or Marked Keys), but almost all loot items were worth taking. >Limited, yet handy crafting recipes with the option to break items down. >Map variety, even dogfighting in space kept things interesting. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game was amazing at its peak, but then, as usual, was overrun by cheaters and poorly handled by the devs. Since then, its been abandonware
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dumped into 1.0 and the devs ran with the money. 5 people online right now, don't bother. I'd recommend anyone who bought this on steam to request a manually reviewed refund under the pretence of falling victim to a scam - the developers blatantly lied multiple times on roadmaps, community posts and social media on upcoming content to maximise sales before rug-pulling the game, so there's a good chance you'll get the refund. EDIT: Having looked at other reviews, the developers appear to have…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thrilled to see the best most unique extraction shooter making a comeback. While the long silence has been disappointing, we cant know what kind of NDAs kept their hands tied. Currently you ARE able to be queued in an empty lobby while the player counts are low. Recent communications show the devs are working on migrating the game from UE4 to UE5. News is slow but progress is coming. I am glad to see this amazing game return and am looking forward to SIG making the most of its potential.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game ♥♥♥♥♥ all over Arc Raiders... can't believe they let it go like this. The game was amazing, just lacked the playerbase. Why not try one last hurrah? Steal some of Arcs ideas, fix a few things here and there, mainly AI, and bring this game back. I'll play this over Arc any day!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will hold out hope, no matter what everyone else says I will always hold out hope for this game I love you Marauders
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool idea and delivery. Was fun initially, even with some of the occasional cheaters that plague these types of games. Unfortunately, cannot recommend it as the game feels abandoned with no real future in sight. I'm willing to update my review if the developers and product change my mind, but at this point I would recommend not supporting the game at this time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is abandoned just like their last title with the Black Death. Never trust small impact games again because the second the going gets a bit rough for the game, they cut their losses and sever all communication. Its a shame, This game had potential.

The Boulder Marauders (the team I play on) lost to Queen City 63-13 but we’re keeping our heads high as we played pretty well for a team that was established this week. Our 8 man got a hell of a bump above his eye, zoom in for a good look Division 3 game came…
neutral · AI labelView post →I can not recommend. This game was neglected until it was dying of starvation, then it was buried alive until it was naught but a corpse of a game. No players really play it anymore, outside of a handful of folks who manage to coordinate enough to get a couple of games rolling on rare occasion. Devs went MIA for literally years. Then dropped a handy dandy "We're working on it guys!" back in April, and there hasn't been another word since. Probably won't hear anything for another year and a…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Read the devs are converting the game engine from unreal 4 to unreal 5. If true i hope they revive this game. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Released in 1987 by Games Workshop, Chaos Marauders was designed by Stephen Hand & features incredibly chaotic orc art by John Blanche. Despite some controversy about similarities to the 1977 Swedish game Ogallala, Chaos Marauder’s Warhammer setting & superb artwork make this a game worth playing.
positive · AI labelView post →Decided to play a cheeky game of Stellaris, you know, for fun. The Marauders spawned, conquered a decent chunk of the galaxy, knocked out and enslaved a Fallen Empire somehow, and then splintered into a pair of pyromaniac empires. My Rogue Servitors might be in trouble
positive · AI labelView post →Tomorrow is a doubleheader for me: the Bradenton Marauders are having an "Educators' Day" game at 11 AM, and then up to Lakeland for a Flying Tigers game at 6. Can I pull off the travel logistics? Will it rain? Will the government collapse? Who knows! It'll be an adventure
