I need to discuss it with someone. Can I unburden myself to my friend? No, she did not watch it. So now I’m alone with my thoughts.

Performer Q Lazzarus sings on screen in the movie Philadelphia. Then she disappeared. This documentary shows us why. Honest, sad. Excellent #FilmSky

That's how money works. All secondhand except for Married to the Mob. And had to get a few for my kid

positive · AI labelView post →Late night movie is Jonathan Demme's (I *know*!!!) "Married to the Mob" (1988), a maximalist, violent, screwball, mob, fish out of water, near genre-less NYC and costuming love letter I *adore*. Al Lewis and Todd Solondz are in this! David Byrne did the music for some goddam reason!

neutral · AI labelView post →I'm watching the Jonathan Demme collection on Criterion so next up is MARRIED TO THE MOB, which is a great mafia movie and hilarious tonal shift maybe best exemplified by FBI Agent Oliver Platt in this outfit w this face (a standard Oliver Platt "I'm not sure if I want to kill you or myself" face)

positive · AI labelView post →For most, "Goodbye Horses" is how they discovered Q Lazzarus. Jonathan Demme included it in his 1988 movie, "Married to the Mob". However, it wasn't until his 1991 hit "The Silence of the Lambs", that it really took off. Indeed! #musicsky #GoodbyeHorses www.sacredbonesrecords.com/products/sbr...
neutral · AI labelView post →I admire The Godfather as a movie, but it’s not for me, and mafia movies also haven’t appealed to me because they’re so male. I like Married to the Mob. About the only male targeted movies I liked were Tarantino, and I don’t fully understand that it, but I contain multitudes.
positive · AI labelView post →The They Might Be Giants video "Put Your Hand Inside the Puppet Head" was made using leftover unused reels of film from the production of "Married to the Mob." This is all I know about the movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →The mob keeps trying to pull her back in for the whole movie in Married to the Mob, though
neutral · AI labelView post →Tonight in "Movies that Time Unfairly Forgot" is former cable staple Married to the Mob. Michelle Pfeiffer is a delight, and it works as a romantic comedy and mob movie satire. It zips along, with plenty of laughs, goofiness, and sharp writing. It aged about as well as a big hair era film can.
positive · AI labelView post →It's also fucking wild that Demme had a impressive 3-film run in the Late 80's to Early 90's. 1988: Married to the Mob 1991: The Silence of the Lambs 1993: Philadelphia
neutral · AI labelView post →24. Married to the Mob is Jonathan Demme's best film - and yes I include Silence of the Lambs in my assessment.
positive · AI labelView post →Slightly off topic, but I think The Godfather is a great movie, and I don’t like it. I don’t have any interest in that whole mafia genre, so I’ve never seen those Scorsese movies, only mafia movie I like is Married to the Mob. Skipped all the rest.
positive · AI labelView post →You told me that previously. I wouldn't be surprised. Frasier was definitely intimated by her because she was just as smart as him. I could see Kelsey feeling the same. I'm surprised Mercedes wasn't able to capitalize on her Oscar win more. Did you see Married to the Mob? I loved that movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →They Might Be Giants' video for "Put Your Hand in the Puppet Head" was shot on the trails (leftover bits of film) from "Married to the Mob."
neutral · AI labelView post →One thing I appreciate about MARRIED TO THE MOB is that the heart of the movie is Angela knowing how small their lives are and being desperate to make her life bigger.

You can tell me that one of the other charming actors had a more leading role, but Mercedes "Ruehled" that movie.
positive · AI labelView post →Last night I watched Married To The Mob on 4K disc from Cinématographe Every Jonathan Demme movie grows on me the more I watch it. Married to the Mob is no exception. It’s sometimes very funny, sometimes very dark and always very emotionally satisfying. That’s a tough thing to pull off.
positive · AI labelView post →Watching a classic film I've not seen every day in 2026. 88. Married to the Mob (Jonathan Demme 1988) Michelle Pfeiffer shows her acting chops in a funky, energetic dark comedy typical of Demme's pacy directing style. Great soundtrack, Dean Stockwell is funny & evil. 8.5/10
positive · AI labelView post →Really enjoyed Project Hail Mary, love when a space movie has a score that sounds like David Byrne's score for Married To The Mob or the Phillip Glass tracks on the Truman Show score
neutral · AI labelView post →It is such a pleasure from 2025 to put on Married To The Mob. Like that isn’t even his best movie but it has wit zip and zest far in excess of many other people’s whole filmographies haha. And forget about his big dogs, Silence holds up almost painfully well, it’s so close to flawless.
positive · AI labelView post →Jonathan Demme is one of my favorite directors. I've been filling in the gaps of his filmography and it's just been a pleasure. He still gives a movie like "Married to the Mob" so much visual creativity and empathy.
