If you're seeing negative reviews and wondering why, It launched in a near unplayable bad state. It remained that way for a few days, but as of August 10th, 2026, the performance issues have been fixed with a 10GB patch, so my vote goes back to Recommended. One of the best fighting games we've had.

Critics, per Wikipedia

Multiple comparisons were favorably drawn between Capcom's games and Fighting Souls, with particular attention drawn towards the presence of launchers, assist characters and aerial combos, as well as the involvement of 4v4 fights, considered a direct iteration of the 3v3 setup popularized by the Marvel vs. Capcom games. Commentators also highlighted the game's resemblance to Arc System Works' prior licensed game Dragon Ball FighterZ (2018). Complaints were raised online about the need for a PlayStation Network account to play the game on Steam, resulting in a lack of availability in 132 countries and territories. Upon the release of the public beta in July 2026, the game's PC port was…

such a fun game. of course sony has to ruin everything. the pc port plays miserable. the settings don t even display correctly. either the netcode or the poor performance makes the online play very bad, with rollback spikes. there's also the easy anticheat and all of sony sdks that use a lot of resources. the game is hostile to other ports also. and let's not mention PSN requirement. ORIGINAL: I'd love to say this is an amazing Marvel game, but it does not work on my $2,200 Steam Machine, or anything Linux for that matter, so as sad as I am about doing it, I'm giving this game a negative review. The anti cheat leads into a completely black window, and my CPU being clocked to hell and back. not to mention to multiple multiple instances of the Playstation PC SDK trying to run. edit: after a solid amount of tinkering, and letting the black screen sit for about half an hour the game did finally load into it. TL;DR: Everything Sony Touches Turns to Garbage Arc System Works delivered a core gameplay masterpiece, but Sony choked it out with a bloated mess of background runtimes, SDKs, and anti-cheat. The resulting micro-stutters cause massive 8-frame rollback desyncs in crossplay, forcing PS5 players to turn crossplay off and locking PC out of 75%+ of the player base. On top of that, Sony intentionally blocked Linux/Steam Deck users by leaving a simple EAC back-end toggle disabled. Do not buy until…

This is a great game held back by abysmal decisions by the publisher (Sony). These are the main gripes I and many others have, but they’re just the tip of the iceberg. - No Linux support is absolutely unacceptable in 2026; Steam Machine and Steam Deck are unable to play the game under their default configurations and I have to dual boot just to play it. - EAC, Theia anti-tamper, and PlayStation SDK runtimes all contribute to poor performance and block even the ability to run the game in a…

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a hard pass for Linux players. There is no good technical excuse for shutting out Linux here. Easy Anti-Cheat already supports Proton when developers enable it, and games like Marvel Rivals prove that an online Marvel title can make that effort. Instead, Tokon treats Linux players as disposable before they even reach the character select screen. A fighting game lives or dies on its community. Blocking an entire platform, especially one with a growing Steam Deck…

Wait until sony lifts off the PSN requirement. The game itself is good, dragged down by sony psn requirement. compared to guilty gear they have the same graphics but this one is cpu hungry with the only difference is sony launcher and the added anti cheat. Also don't expect this to run on linux. game is good but wait fo sony to leave it alone. If sony wanted an all digital, they shoul've make the digital experience convenient.

Arc Systems have made an amazing love letter to Marvel comics in how they treat these characters, and it is an interesting take on a team fighters. the game has been destroyed for me by the DRM as you can see on my specs I shouldn't be having frame issues, but I am. unstable framerates are terrible on a fighter. ontop of that the whole playstation account requirement just generally pisses me off. which wasn't on the steam page when preorders were up…

What a shame. This was one of the most anticipated releases for the FGC and unless you have a cosmically lucky roll of the dice for your hardware setup or a very recent and powerful build, you will encounter sufficient frame drops and slowdown that will ruin the experience for both you and whomever plays against you. The fact that you can scroll just slightly on the store page and have the tile of "PC Performance Fixes Post Open Beta" staring right at you is just some extra salt in the wound.…

The game is one of Arc Systemworks's best, their take on the Marvel universe is refreshing and brings a new side you'd usually never see, but is slogged down by Sony's poor business decisions. The PC port is obviously an afterthought held down by Sony's wishes to bring everyone into their ecosystem through banning numerous countries and required PlayStation accounts. The game itself is great but the fact there is no performance benchmark requirement to play ranked online is killing the online experience because the average player does not understand playing the game sub 60 fps is playing it in slow mo and you will be forced to play the same powerpoint experience as them. SF4 had a benchmark requirement in 2009, what the ♥♥♥♥ happened? Also psn sucks remove it.

I understand there are many issues that people are experiencing and that's not okay. my experience has been pretty positive I can't lie I have a pretty humble system (R5 5600x and 4060ti 8gb) and i'm getting a locked 60fps at all times basically on high settings using dlss quality. and i've had no other performance issues, or glitches/bugs in the menus while I may be a minority with my performance, I'm having a great time. The characters are fun, episodes are well made, rollback feels awesome…

Game looks fun but can't really recommend it to Linux users and the optimisation is still ♥♥♥♥. I thought i'd play it on my deck but guess that's a no for now, other than that i really dig the cute lobby aesthetics but my god PLEASE OPTIMISE IT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. EDIT - After playing it for 3 hours i can say it runs fairly well for me but again i believe i have a decent enough rig. Still needs some performance updates !

DO NOT BUY. Ranked is dead on PC. East coast and kept going against the same person over and over. Plus the DRM garbage still not sorted out

Game is still unplayable on PC post-patch. The performance is simply unacceptable, CAN NOT recommend this game at all until PC port is ACTUALLY FIXED. 8/21/2026 Update Fatal Crash still happens during character trials. Basically the same you were having problems before still happens now. And No! It is not a spec problem, my laptop runs games like sf6 n cp2077 smooth like butter on the highest setting.
