What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 274 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (20,067 of 24,594 positive).
Players widely praise the combat as deep and addictive. [1][2][3][4] Many reviewers find the writing and dialogue cringe-worthy. [5][6][7][8] Some players criticize the addition of Denuvo DRM requiring online checks. [9][10][11]

Never really been bothered by Denuvo and its performance impacts. Until now, when 2K sneakily added some silly 14 day token refresh to a 4 year old single player game. Forcing you to log in online to verify the integrity. When I was younger I never really cared about such things as consumer rights and bla bla. But as I've gotten older my tolerance for anti-consumer behavior has dramatically changed. Generally I do …

This is a fantastic game that never fully got the attention it deserved. You can very clearly see how bad the game almost was; the home base sections are riddled with currencies and unlockables, which screams "we built this game to be a microtransaction hell". Thankfully "The Avengers" live service game from the previous year tanked, and it looks like the monetization mechanics were scrapped. This game should've got …

This is so damn good. The combat is one of the coolest and most satisfying tactics style systems I’ve ever played, the characters, story, and sense of place is fantastic, and there’s so so much content and love packed in here Seeing some reviews say the writing is cringe and just can’t understand that at all. Yeah not every single joke might land (although a bunch do), but as far as a comic book story and its …

i was hesitant to pick this up because i haven't been too deep into the marvel universe and although i like card battlers i prefer xcom-like hexagon maps. i discovered that the game was very cheap during a sale and i thought, well, it's firaxis, it cannot be that bad. i was only a few minutes in when i realised i will absolutely love this game. after 189.4 hours of playtime, i still do. (to a degree that i wanted to …

neutral · AI labelView post →If you want to get into an animated discussion with a game dev, find a game that does certain things really well and others really poorly. If it's just an awesome game all around, that's a short conversation... but this? You can talk for HOURS. To date, that game is still Marvel's Midnight Suns.
neutral · AI labelView post →If you like Marvel and/or tactics games, you ABSOLUTELY should try Marvel's Midnight Suns - it's made by the same company as XCOM and it's only $9 right now. Seriously great game. store.steampowered.com/app/368260/M...
positive · AI labelView post →Was enjoying it. Till I found out you can't play the game without an internet connection, no wonder I'm getting questionable ♥♥♥♥♥♥ performance thanks to denuvo.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →gameplay is fun. But most of the time you're walking around a castle skipping terrible dialogue. I think I had 1 hours of missions and the rest was talking to people and walking through the open world menu.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a wonderful game that I thoroughly enjoyed. 2K have retroactively added 14 day online drm checks which is tantamount to a criminal seizure of goods they already profited from the sale of. Do not buy this or any other 2K game if you care about game preservation or ownership rights. https://steamcommunity.com/app/368260/discussions/0/841752762653882055/
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually made it...I survived finishing this game. 62 hours. I've never been so glad to uninstall a game to my recollection. Combat is an absolute joy to play. Good enough to make me power through the absolute dogwater writing making this game nearly unplayable without groaning and slamming your head into your desk in attempts of forgetting the constant shallow and overemotional diarrhea spewing from *every* characters mouth...I kept hoping it would get better. I'm the kind of RPG player…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dunno, man. I surprisingly really like the gameplay but unfortunately everything you do between missions is soooo bad and boring and it takes up most of your time. The writing and the dialogue are so incredibly cringe that I'm just skipping past almost all of it at this point.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just to be clear, this is testing the same handheld on both Steam and Windows and is in line with previous findings on a small set of AAA games. Best guess, as someone who runs both Linux and Windows on both handhelds and desktop gaming PCs, the issue here is probably memory and driver optimizations around them. Windows is just heavier than SteamOS and, while the 32 GB in the Legion Go should be enough for at least some of these tested games, they are shared between CPU and GPU. I don't…
neutral · AI labelView post →90+ hours on a game I got free from Epic and liked so much I had to actually own it on a decent service. I guess that's worth a thumbs up, right? Yes the characters and designs look a bit... cut price but the gameplay is worth it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A decent, fun card game. If that's all it was, I'd be giving it a positive review.... however, the dialogue makes it a 2/10. Look at any negative review and what do you see? People complaining about the marvel quips. How bad could it be? Well, it's worse than what the rudest negative review is saying. They are omnipresent, you will hear one every other sentence. The characters never shut the ♥♥♥♥ up and never stop with the quips. I kept trying to give this game a chance but everytime I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warning, you will spend far more time in cutscenes than in combat, but the cutscenes are pretty damn good, with a deep and fascinating story, maximum grade voice acting, and even some real laughs. So if you're not too impatient for a movie with occasional fights, it's strongly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Marvel's Midnight Suns is criminally underrated. I've been playing it for a good couple months and I'm still nowhere near tired of it, I'll actually replay the whole game once I beat it because it's so much fun. Love the story and voice acting too. This game goes on sale a lot so I'd highly suggest getting jt for cheap and trying it out

neutral · AI labelView post →The strategy gameplay is a lot of fun... when you get to do it. The other half of the game is spent running around your home base making friends with each hero (not joking). The forced RPG elements take as much time as the fights do, and boy are they tedious. The game also doubles it's playtime by forcing you to do a basic mission after every story mission. This game is a lot of fun when the fighting begins, but more than half the game feels like a waste of time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →By the way if you're enjoying Star Wars Zero Company or X-COM, I gotta remind people about Marvel's Midnight Suns. This was a turn based strategy game in the Marvel universe. You play a customizable hero named Hunter, & get to have hours and hours of dialogue with Spider-Man/Blade etc. T'was fun!
positive · AI labelView post →After completing Star Wars Zero Company, I went and look through my library at some of the other similar and awesome Turn-Based Strategy/Combat games that I've played, and I just realized that I have not left this one - Marvel's Midnight Suns, a positive review when I had so much fun with it as well. Therefore, I'm doing it now, as it is really a great and enjoyable game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is such a weird game. Mind you, I enjoyed it, but it feels like the developers wanted to make 4 different games. The promotional material makes it feel like it is going to be a grim, gritty, dark action game. Like a Marvel version of the Arkham games. But that is not at all what this game is like. Instead, it is mostly about tactical turn based combat in the vein of Firaxis' earlier XCOM games. But much more upbeat than either the promotional material, or the XCOM games. And with 2 extra…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great and underrated game. I understand that turn-based strategy games are not everyone's jam, but the production value of this game is amazing. The dev team shows what can be done with the Unreal Engine. Aside from that, the voice acting and story is top notch and very deep. It is something expected from a marvel IP while others, at the time, were lack luster. The game allows for any player's pace. I played at at a slow pace while taking in all that it had to offer. This is a gem that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →forced rpg elements fights are ok but half of the the game you are running for nonsense tasks
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In principle, there's several games in Midnight Suns that might be pretty good, or excellent even. There's a decent deck-building tactics game, a promising Persona-style social interaction game, and a lightweight "explore this area to uncover puzzles" game. The problems with Midnight Suns are various but one of the most significant is that, rather than focusing one or two of these game ideas, the developers have smooshed them all into one thing, throwing in handfuls of different kinds of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm finishing up Marvel's Midnight Suns (another great game), so I need to decide what I'm playing next. I've had Yakuza 0 for a few months now, so it's as good a time as any. This is my time to play backlog games before Xenoblade.
positive · AI labelView post →Considering I’m probably one of the grand total of five people who actually preordered this game, it kind of breaks my heart to admit that I can’t, in good faith, recommend the game as I had lots of faith in the concept. And mind you - this game actually has quite a lot going for it. The core idea of the card system is genuinely great and even works quite well (at first). Mixing that with a Fire Emblem-style social aspect and a roster of familiar superheroes sounds like a neat idea, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who doesnt care at all about Marvel and superheroes, this is a fantastic game. The combat is rich. The animations and beautiful. The writing is great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed the combat in this game. I do have a couple of complaints. I found the whole day cycle really tedious and annoying. Everyday, I have to wake up, do all of the conversations, play a mission, then do all of the evening conversations and then go to sleep. Then repeat it all again. It was so tedious. Also, the amount of time spent in conversations with people was too much. Holy crap, I don't need to know every characters whole backstory. I just want to do the combat missions and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Criminally underrated game. It has great writing, an interesting card system with plenty of depth and awesome heroes to choose from. It's a real shame this game bombed because it's easily in my top 10 games of all time. I am sure it have been a huge success with a conventional turn based system like Baldur's Gate 3 over the turn based card system. But it's an incredible game.

neutral · AI labelView post →Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a unique and surprisingly deep strategy game that blends Marvel characters with turn-based tactics and card-based gameplay. The combat is one of the strongest parts of the game. Using cards to control abilities adds a fresh twist, and each character feels different, which keeps battles interesting and strategic. The roster is also a big highlight. Seeing characters like Iron Man, Blade, Ghost Rider, and others interact is fun, and they all have their own playstyles…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favorite games in recent memory, Marvel's Midnight Suns, is on sale on Steam for $24. Incredible deal. It is not "Marvel XCOM" as marketed. It is a Persona game w/ Marvel characters, and the fights are really really fun turn-based tactics levels with a focus on knockback and enviro damage

neutral · AI labelView post →This should have been an easy hit for those like me that love turn-based tactics, card games and narratives, but BOY are all the characters unlikable. I really tried not to be too dismissive of the whole "cringey marvel quips", but it is really hard to take any narrative seriously when nobody in the game does.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Criminally underrated. The combat is like XCOM except minus 3 turns of moving your units closer and missing 80% hit chance shots, The dialogues and characters are great with distinct personalities, arcs and motivations. Obviously, don't expect RDJ to voice Tony Stark. Cool story, good endgame and NG+ content. P.S. Very playable with 1.5 hands if you happen to have a broken wrist
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game, I enjoy deck building and I like tactical role playing games generally. I found the writing to be just so.. cringe. I found myself spam clicking through all of the conversation options, which take up a significant part of the game. Also I admit that I think that the Midnight suns is just a dumb grouping of heroes, who decided these characters all belonged in the same world?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Marvel's Midnight Suns is currently free on the Epic Games Store. I'll be honest, I bailed on this one pretty quick because the "maybe I should kiss Wolverine" bits weren't what I was looking for, but many of my strategy sicko friends absolutely adore this game - it's worth a look for sure.

Why was it marketed to superhero fans, when this game is meant for RPG sickos. Great combat, addicting progression, suprisingly in-depth character interactions. Brought down by bad grinding and repetitiveness, main plot being ok-ish, and some technical issues. Regional Pricing is attrocious because 2K Games doesn't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why does 2K insist on worsening the game for paying customers in an effort to combat piracy? Is a mandatory internet connection to play a game the thanks I get for actually buying the game? I cannot and will not recommend a single player game that requires an online connection to play. 2K should be ashamed of themselves.

Amazing turn based game, with engaging mechanics. Not only do you get to play as your favorite marvel heroes, you also build a relationship with them, the more you talk and do things together, the stronger your friendship becomes. positive · AI labelView post →Really surprised by how much I like this game. The combat is addictive, and I love the card combos and building/upgrading my deck. This game is some of firaxis's best work. Midnight suns was given so much love and attention. It's just a damn shame we're never getting that sequel. Playing as the female hunter I absolutely love the somewhat bizarre things she says, the voice actress does an amazing job at making the character a fascinating protagonist to role play as. the gameplay between…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great, underrated game. It's definitely worth the money. One thing I would have done differently is that I would try to always do story missions as soon as they are available. Otherwise the game becomes grindy if you do general missions, trying to improve your characters. You will get plenty of time to do general missions, so don't do more than you have to, especially in the beginning. Pros: Good writing for all the characters, amazing graphics, with a wide variety of characters,…

So much talking and relationship stuff where saying just the right things out of 3 random options will help advance your status. Just really not what I wanted but too late to refund once I realized that the real game wasn't coming. Oh yeah and so much running through the forest looking for shiny things.
