Its a real shame what happened to this game, because it showed so much promise! I played the hell out of it on launch and it was a lot of fun... but Behaviour cut support and basically killed the game in around 1-2 years, so its just abandoned.

One of my favorite games of all time. The only limit is the creativity of other players and after 300+ hours I keep getting pleasantly surprised. However, some base builders can make lazy kill-boxes that aren't fun to play to grind in-game currency, but those bases are few. Overall, there's something about this game that I keep coming back to and the community around it is very supportive. Would recommend!

According to review aggregator Metacritic, the PC version of the game received "generally positive reviews", while the PS5 and the Xbox Series X versions of the game received "mixed or average" reviews. Travis Northup from IGN described the game as a "terrific concept", and that the game's launch was a "great start for a dungeon-delving shooter that’s as unique as it is hard to put down". However, he wrote that at launch, the game did not have sufficient content and noted that the game had technical issues. Imogen Donovan from NME wrote that the game did not provide incentive for players to create "artistically challenging" levels. She felt that while the game sometimes offered a tense and…

If this game wasn't dependent on its online infrastructure that will eventually be shut down, like if offline mode, export/import map and export/import raid recordings features were added, I could easily recommend this despite its shortcomings. However given that it's so online dependent, lacks those features, has its shortcomings, and the developers have said [url=https://web.archive.org/web/20250212182020/https://meetyourmakergame.com/news/whats-next-for-meet-your-maker/]they're basically…

I thoroughly enjoyed this game and the creativity it brought when it first released, however, I felt this game would be doomed based on it's execution... Coming back to it after about a year, I can see the attempts that were made the address the issues that stemmed from the start, however, it was too little to late for it to recover and, in my opinion, not enough to make the change needed. To explain, the issues as I see them boil down to the following: Users could build a base…

Truthfully, I thought this game could pop off. As we got closer to launch, it became rampantly apparent that the issues that stems from certain fundamental design weren't going to be fixed or properly addressed in any way (Classic Behaviour). I have a few issues with the philosophy of this game In this game, as opposed to say something like Super Mario Maker, the player has much more control, as they can select their own loadouts which allow them to break the fundamental design of many bases…

The game has been officially abandonned by the devs. It's a great game in concept, though it was kinda poorly balanced, as is customary for any game made by Behaviour Interactive. On the bright side, since the game is curated by the community (players make the content), as long as there are players, you won't run out of content, but it'll get boring pretty fast with very few incentives to play it.

While the game may no longer be receiving direct support from the developers, I feel like the game isn't dead. Overnight my base got raided several times, and even got some kills. Fun game where you get to be both a level designer and player. I don't personally understand why the developers stepping away means the game is "dead," it just means development on the game is finished. I think it may just be that because live-service games are so common everyone expects every game to receive…

Really cool idea, unfortunately the game never found a solid playerbase due to the way the game is designed. Making levels and watching people play through them was really fun, but for some reason the devs decided that a created level shouldn't remain available permanently. Personally I did not want to bother grinding just to keep my level in the game so I stopped playing, and I can only assume most other level creators felt the same.

Honestly, the game has a great concept. The building was fine (could have had a few more shapes to play around with), gameplay felt good, and overall it's a great experience. However, as someone who prefers to build levels over playing them, I don't understand why I can't have levels up permanently, this is the reason I'm voting negatively. I understand there is a "casual" listing where you don't get credit for anything that happens in your levels, but having to grind other players levels just…

it's sad. This game was promising. Really cool concept, unfortunately the devs didn't really try to change anything when THE most effecient base building method was just making a huge killbox and it just became boring to raid bases. then, the lack of updates and support just killed the game and it sits at like 2 players right now. If you didn't buy it yet, don't buy it, you've missed out.

On paper, everything about this game seems great. The problems stem from the developers and their treatment of this game. The absolute worst choice was to make user levels temporary. I think your levels only last in the rotation for 2 weeks, with ways to extend that to maybe a month? Why not just keep them all in rotation, but decrease the odds of older maps? Oh right, because BHVR really like for their players to be forced to grind, see their other games. In this game, the only currency that…

This is a cool game that I mostly enjoyed my time with. Many of its mechanics are poorly explained and basically inscrutable, but the core gameplay of dungeon delving (and building) is fairly satisfying. I don't recommend others buy this for two major reasons: 1. A large aspect of the progression requires other players to raid (and die in) your custom outposts and, with about four people playing this currently, you'll run out of new victims after a day or two. 2. Game doesn't save your custom…

A core component of the game involves building bases for others to raid. The execution of this is fun enough but the bases you make have a timer where they can no longer be raided once it runs out, and unfortunately with the current player base that means being raided maybe twice before that timer is up. You can generate more resources for the base to restart its timer, but that requires you playing quite a bit just to keep an outpost open for a small handful of people to raid it. More…

Without diving tooo much into it, I'm pretty sure the main reason is he doesn't want government regulation around the games industry. The most generous summary of his better points would be that it is not always feasible to leave a game in a playable state since server architecture might not allow for that. Semi fair since the games industry has gotten to a point where some of these games may be using code contracted from a third party making releasing the binaries difficult from a licensing…

Great game ruined by very small dedicated community making it very hard as an entry/low level player. You make an outpost which is a lot of fun, it runs out of Genmat because of the high level player base and then stops... forcing you to have to then go to their outposts which will have all the unlocked traps and upgrades (which you will struggle to get if you are the average gamer as they have mastered their layouts and trap placement over the years)... which is about as fun as sandpaper…

Devs won't fix the bug where you get forced to a direction after you die. Small dedicated player base that has learned the most annoying traps that are not fun to play against and spams them. Random exploding enemies getting shot at you. Bomb traps being spammed through lava you can't see through or react well too. Bombs and exploding enemies should not be able to go through lava. Most people aren't trying to make cool hard rooms. Just 50,000 corners with bomb spams.

Creating bases for others to beat, or die trying, reminds me so much of "The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot" that I find myself almost coming back again and again...almost.
