It is a spinoff title in the Monster Hunter series and a sequel to Monster Hunter Stories (2016). The game was released worldwide on July 9, 2021. Better than the original in every single way, from graphics to combat, to story, to postgame to QoL. If you are unsure about the first game just know that it's not necessary at all to enjoy this one, it just gives some context to returning characters.

Navirou is the worst and most annoying character in all of fiction. The rest of the characters are bland. Combat's pretty good, just wish you could tell when an opponent is going to attack more than once. Don't play it for the story, only play it because you love monster hunter.

Honestly I don't know how I could review this game without writing out two TED talks.
