What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 172 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (1,119 of 1,525 positive).
Players praise the game's art style and atmosphere. [1][2][3] Some find the combat repetitive and lacking depth. [4][5][6] Several reviewers note the game is short and linear. [7][8][9]

Just finished the game, and considering the game description, especially the emphasis on character development, I ended up being very disappointed and unsatisfied. TLDR: While you could get the game on sale for less that 5 USD (DO NOT SPEND MORE THAN THIS!, I got it for $3.74), do you really want to spend your TIME on a poor experience? Much of the negative reviews are accurate. The game is downright clunky, and …

Morbid is a mid-game that is almost acceptable, but falters near the very end. TLDR: beautiful to look at, a chore to play Let's be honest, it looks great -- the artstyle is detailed and consistent throughout, and there is enough variety in enemy designs and locations that you almost always know where you are and what kind of enemy you can expect to find there. The maps are nicely done, not showing everything but …

This game is good but way too difficult like this is coming from a ds1, bloodborne and elden ring player, the dodging against things like the first boss is almost useless and you have to fight your way through enemies to the boss for runbacks which was a mistake ds1 and ds2 made and is frankly poor game design hence why elden ring doesn't do it and the parrying is janky and god awful. For a soulslike it could have …

Morbid: The Seven Acolytes Rating: 6/10 - Fine Morbid: The Seven Acolytes is one of those games where it is really difficult to rate it. The art style is Amazing, the game is gorgeous and very pleasing to look at. I really love the eldritch-horror style of the game and the atmosphere is Great, underlined by a solid soundtrack. But once you look past the visuals of the game you start running into some pretty big …

Overall good experience, but: 1. Game is short and very linear, took me roughly 2 hours to complete the game. 2. Nothing interesting to explore. 3. Poor level design. Every time you think you can find something unique in those labyrinths, the game just gives you another useless consumable, lol

Morbid: The Seven Acolytes sits at 70% positive across 169 opinionated reactions from 3 sources. Fresh or rotten — where do you land?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Metacritic classified reviews of the Windows and PlayStation 4 versions as "mixed or average". The Xbox One reviews were classified as "generally favorable". On OpenCritic, 52% of critics recommended the game. Marcello Ruina of Eurogamer Italy described the art and audio as the best parts of the game. He praised the pixel art and the designs of the Acolytes, though he preferred some of the designs to others. Pascal Tekaia of RPGamer also praised the pixel art. He wrote that the damaged and deteriorating environments conveyed the decline of Mornia, and that the instrumental and choral music matched the gothic setting. PC Games reviewer Yannik Cunha praised the creature design and music. The…

negative · AI labelView post →Just had a poke around the Morbid Metal demo. Feels good! Light character action stuff (Devil May Cry-ish) with your modern pick-3 roguelike structure Looks and feels good. Full game seems like you'll be freely switching between four characters, similar to DMC stances. Big focus on Bayonetta dodges

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game starts off well in a lot of aspects, opens up in after 25%, but completely nosedives by the halfway mark. The issue causing that nosedive is actually so fundamental that I don't think I want to give it a positive rating. Visually it is pleasant to the eye, has clear atmosphere and consistent designs. The sound effects are also pretty good, some I recall overlapping sometimes too much, causing an "sfx explosion". Music is bombastic, kind of surprising, I thought this was a pretty…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very mediocre 2d souls-like hack-n-slash. Your attacks are slow, there aren't any stats, and there isn't any weapon variety. Every fight is nearly identical. Enemies cannot be stunned, even with heavy weapons. Supposedly fast weapons, like fists, are not fast enough to get equal damage to heavy weapons before the enemy attacks, so only heavy weapons are viable. Since there aren't any stats, you can't raise your "dexterity" or anything like that to improve your attack speed. There are like…

The music and the visuals are good. I like the enemy variety and the bosses i did fight were just fine. The sanity mechanic was a bit confusing but then really annoying when you don't have an easy way to heal it outside of very limited resources. The weapons confused me as I would have two swords where either one shows as slightly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This an ok souls like game with a lot of bad design choices. -They made a map but can only be accessed through the bonfire (chair at this game). You can't use it running around, the map doesn't even tell you where you are. -Some enemies have wonky hitbox. -Getting skill points for upgrading blessings is a chore you have no clue how much you need for next points. So I end up not really upgrading any blessing to its full, some I can't even upgrade at all. -Elemental Runes sees to have no effect…

neutral · AI labelView post →The pixel art and setdressing is done really well imo, and the sounddesign & ambience isn't terrible either. There's definitely stuff here that's enjoyable. I think the 75% rating is overall accurate - though I would recommend waiting for a strong sale. The combat is trying to be more slow and methodical with a focus on spacing and positioning, but really, but more often than not it plays out like a chore. Repeating the same dodge away - 1 hit - dodge away - 1 hit - dodge away... just isn't…

It’s been a blast making music for this game, and working with this amazing team! #videogamemusic #gamemusic #electronicrock #gamesoundtrack
positive · AI labelView post →It's very repetitive and lacking in depth, it's not terrible but it's not worth the time either, even if it was just 1 dollar, the game could be good if the game design was somewhat improved so you are not just doing one attack and dodging over and over.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not super far in the game yet the only way I for sure recommend this game is on sale. I got it as low as 3 dollars. now as far as pros and cons go Cons: #1 combat Is somewhat stale and repetitive #2 weapons don't seem to have any super special effects like no cool aoe shockwaves or anything like that. (With few exceptions like "the organ" and similar" #3 elements don't do anything outside of flat damage it seems no status effects like freezing enemies solid or etc #4 weird attack…

neutral · AI labelView post →On the one hand it goes the Dark Souls route with its mechanics but its areas feel like Path of Exile/Diablo/Grim Dawn etc. Just big and bloated. This works great with the aforementioned mouse-driven killfests that are those games, the character movement in them and combat is a lot faster, but with a soulslike it just makes these places boring, and leaves me wanting tighter level design akin to stuff like Dark Souls, Tunic, Deaths Door etc.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Combat is so unbelievably bad that it makes you laugh, enemies and bosses have the most pathetic, non-threatening movesets I've ever seen in a game like this Despite having topdown perspective and attacks being in all directions, there are only two animations for every character, left and right - so even when you or enemy is actually attacking up, you still see it as "left attack" or "right attack"; this is incredibly lazy Amateurish level design of samey copypasted environments with very…

I got stuck in one map. No idea where to go or finish the quest. To use the map I have to go to a shrine and it doesnt even tell me where I am. They made the game too hard for no reason. Changing weapons should be easy. quick slot items doesnt even show their stats(i guess thats fine but annoying when you just starting). Also character is…

neutral · AI labelView post →A great looking game with awful controls and terrible combat. If you fight enemies face to face you'll just trade blows with them because they're unlikely to flinch, and even with very low tier enemies, this is a losing battle. So the second best strategy is to hit -> immediately roll, hit -> roll, repeat. You can even see it in the trailer. The Hit -> roll combo is so engrained in them that they do it when hitting a box. The BEST strategy is to stand slightly above them because they can…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its alright. I was expecting a bit more fun with the loot but its pretty standard. Game didnt grab me but overall its an okay game. Fun to play through and quite short.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's way too slow and clunky even for a souls like. The enemy AI is obnoxiously bad, and they did a terrible job with the top down aspect of it. I find the polish to be severely lacking, the maps are nonsensical, they're like somebody put art over a voronoi pattern. The enemies are super fast for no reason, and the animation for their attacks is really bad. It's basically one frame of them lowering their shoulders. They will spam moves, your parry is timed and does not stun them even for a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, I expected bad, but this really was a hidden gem. Short game, you kind of get through it pretty quickly once you get a hang of it, but it's quite intriguing. I played too many JRPG's so I expected something after slaying the 7, but the game is quite literally in the title, so not sure why I expected that. Still, that journey was quite fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Idk why this game is called souls-like to be fair. Like it has bonfires, and enemies revives upon resting but you dont lose anything upon death, you have maps (static, and you still need to find them but anyway). Shorcuts in the game closer to skyrim dungeouns, where at the very end you can return to the start. Aestetics of the game feels like something in between of Blasphemous and Bloodbourne, with all those "living flesh" parasites. But at the same time some mechanics are somewhat broken…

neutral · AI labelView post →Yet another game that proves Souls-like aren't fit for 2D, especially not with this kind of top-down isometric view. I almost want to give it a positive review just because few games try that formula and it's made competently, so it's probably as good as it gets for people searching for this kind of games. But I can't say I enjoyed a single moment of it. It's not just because it tries to be a Souls-like though. There are a lot of little flaws and bugs. You're never sure where you aim, or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad, however, i didn't like the map system. Not possible to look at it whenever i need. It is not clear which locations i have already visited or not. Also some ways are locked, perhaps I need to do something but no clue. I do not want to spend hrs just for figuring out what to do... The game is not that good to spend hrs to figure out what the game wants from you. Can be bought on sale...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very shallow game. its many mechanics are underused. I couldn't tell the effects of sanity, weapon damage types were meaningless, and parry was unreliable. Didn't matter though, as the bosses weren't hard. Not a "need to play" in my book
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really wanted this one to be a hidden gem but it just ain't. Map layout is confusing asf, and even when you find a map in game it doesn't show your location or have any kind of landmarks for you to navigate by. It's got the same controls as Hyper Light Drifter, with the clunky slow combat of dark souls and it just doesn't work. All enemies boil down to "Just go behind them" which since this is a semi-2D game is really not hard. None of that's worth a thumbs down though. I'm leaving a thumbs…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is not going to blow your mind. The game is ok and fun enough but it doesn't worth the original price,25 euro ,the moment that i write the review. Maybe if it is on sale. The story is not anything special ,it doesn't add any thrill to the whole experience. The battles are repetitive, you just have to understand the pattern of every enemy and do the same moves again and again. Bosses is just the same, they have a specific moves pattern . I had to fight most bosses multiple times and after a…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unique weapon loot on the ground will disappear if you die and the container that held the item will no longer be lootable either. This is either bad game design or a bad glitch. For me, this happened with the Sword of Eura because at the time I had no inventory space and then accidentally died while trying to clear the area and free up inventory space. I can understand it happening for random non-unique items, but I've never seen a game delete unique loot from the game that you already found,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really surprised at how well they designed the environment and enemies. This is some real top tier demonic ♥♥♥♥. Each creature could star in its own movie by current hollywood standards. And that's a compliment because it shows how jam-packed the designs are in just ONE game. Combat is simple but methodical enough with some parries sprinkled in. And if you build your weapons right, you can completely bypass the need to parry. Plotline is pretty generic and the dialogue is ok-ish for its…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great bosses, good music, overall fun game since we are all waiting on that Bloodborne PC port. Gameplay is fun and actually simple. Dodge, attack, occasionally shoot. Not much variety but it works. The maps are simple enough but you can only view them at save points. The steam screenshot feature helps get around this limitation. At least we have maps, although you will most likely get lost constantly before finding them and I think this was by design. A big issue here are the weapons.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is almost like Bloodborne but in 2D since it has Souls-like aspects which are parrying, attacking, weapons, and enemies as well as the story theme. I think the idea is not all that bad especially the story but the game feels somewhat mediocre, the combat can be flimsy or rather janky you don't get the response you need. I also wished to give this a mixed rating but I will stick with negative. I don't have much to say critically other than the game as a whole is flawed (at best) but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty disappointing on PC. Controls are awkward on KB&M and you cannot fully map all controls. Took me a few minutes to even figure out how to equip items because after holding 'c' as prompted, I need to use the arrow keys to assign the item even though they aren't mapped or used for anything else. There seems to only be one attack animation regardless of the direction you are facing (towards bottom or towards top) so the actual attack area is misleading from what you see on screen.
