What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 194 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (545 of 583 positive).
Players praise the game's solid point-and-click gameplay and sci-fi atmosphere. [1][2][3] Many note it is very short, often under two hours, and recommend buying on sale. [1][4][5] Some reviewers find the voice acting subpar and puzzles too easy. [6][7][8]

This game is not worth $10. It's a classic, point-and-click inventory puzzler. If you like inventory puzzles where all you do is try to find the right combinations of items, I suppose this game is for you. But the game is very short (you can beat in under 2 hours), and there isn't much story here beyond the classic "figure out a way to escape" motif. I'd only get if it's on sale, and you like this kind of puzzler.

BottomLine at the Top: Alyssa-Black, fellow member of our point and click fan steam group the Coalition of Point and Clickers (check us out!), described this as a "Solid, decent adventure". I think this sums up the game nicely! Pickup only on sale as its regular asking price does not justify its very short playtime. Pros ------------------------------------- -Starts right up, zero messing with resolution settings. …

'Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock' is a light sci-fi, first person view adventure gem. Pros: + Sound Design: Voice overs are very well performed. Music is in place and never annoys. + Gfx Design: For an obviously small team, everything looks neat and well organized. It does its job pretty good. + Puzzle Design: Its great. Didn't encounter any nonsensical puzzle. Not too hard or challenging but satisfying as well. + …

I found this to be a surprisingly enjoyable short P&C game. I took a little under two hours to finish, moving at a slow pace (and that may have included a few minutes of time afk while I heated up dinner). That said, it might be a little steep for a $10 price tag at that length, considering there isn't a lot of replay value. Even the achievements are mostly unmissable story-based ones and can be completed in one …

I'm recommending this at a $5 or less price point. I don't like that the answers to challenges/puzzles are sometimes given away just by looking at something. I don't mind the existence of a built in hint button of some kind; it's there if you want to use it but no one is making you. The answer shouldn't be handed to you just for looking at an object though. The game is also short, abbreviated even. That it is to …

Players who liked Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock talk about good atmosphere and sci-fi setting; those who didn't talk about very short playtime, often under two hours. Which matters more to you?

When we started playing, I said, as prompted by Jason Morningstar, it's ten years later, god is dead, things are worse. And then paused the game and asked everyone if they wanted to play a new game. We talked about it and everyone was keen.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While Morningstar focuses on an original setting, I'd also like to work on another game allowing for smaller, cheaper builds and more customization. So here are some early designs to test out the idea. These balance speed and armor, with a mix of assault, direct fire, and artillery weapons. #LEGO

neutral · AI labelView post →This short point and click game appeared on Steam 10 years ago and still holds up well. I believe it was a flash game in a previous life. You play Powell travelling on the merchant ship Morningstar when you are unexpectantly pulled in by the gravity of an alien planet and crash. One person is killed, the captain badly injured and you are the only person who can save the day. Exploration outside the ship shows the remains of another larger ship with no survivors. Slowly you unravel what…

It works on a few levels, so I quite enjoy it, at least as a working title. For a bit of fun I made an illustration of an EDSC Sword as it might appear as rulebook cover art.
