What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 274 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (4,998 of 5,855 positive).
Some reviewers criticize the combat as simplistic and the story as underdeveloped. [1][2][3]

I've beaten the game and honestly it’s just sad how much wasted potential is here. The soundtrack is an absolute banger when it actually kicks in, but you won't hear it for about half the game. The few tracks that are present get highly repetitive, as rarely any new songs are introduced as you progress. The core mechanics are deeply frustrating. When the parkour works and you get into the flow the feeling is …

MOTORSLICE is a fundamentally great but janky parkour game. It features a charming main character but lacks the writing to support her. While the core movement mechanics are fantastic, they also feature some inherent issues, which are exacerbated by the game's level design. Despite these shortcomings, MOTORSLICE is an overall good experience. Story and Setting Players control Slicer P, a woman deployed to a …

For me, it's a mixed game. This game has everything I love: parkour, megastructures, peak level design, a functional combat system, and also P. I've completed the game 100% and collected all the orbs. That's why I call it peak level design. But there's a big “BUT.” When 80% of your game is about parkour, controls and character movement become extremely important. This game's mechanics are clunky and not smooth, and …

MOTORSLICE combine between Mirror Edge parkour with Shadow of the Colossus bosses, although there are combat with enemy, but this game is more into parkour than combat. Even the bosses are a series of parkour to search for the boss weakness. Between section of the chapters there will be break sequence that some reviewer said was not necessary, which we 100% disagree about that, its tense enough for some of the …

NOTE: lots of crashing in later chapters [though i am on Linux] with 'Fatal Error' on default settings. This may be due to mesa/proton/mysterious third thing so YMMV. Game is great, worth picking up. Fantastic scale, the visuals are great. Levels are creative, Boss designs are sick. Music is thematic and makes me want an OST drop. Not without its issues though: Directional inputs on wall runs can be hit or miss; …

76% of the 274 Steam reviewers we collected recommend MOTORSLICE. The complaint that keeps coming up: clunky and frustrating parkour controls. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
According to the review aggregation website Metacritic, the PlayStation 5 version of Motorslice received generally favorable reviews from critics, while the PC version received "mixed or average" reviews from critics. neutral · AI labelView post →Going into MOTORSLICE, I had very high expectations. The trailers looked awesome, and I was really having fun with the game at first, but during my playthrough I unfortunately came to the conclusion that this game is a complete mess in most aspects. I do not hate this game, in fact I still had a decent time with it, and if anything I would call my opinion on it mixed. However, going one way or the other, I really can't recommend this game. First of all, this game is a bit misleading. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played through Motorslice this weekend and quite enjoyed it! Favorite part is the very ICO/Last Guardian style of world construction, where the whole game exists as a continuous structure you can see above and below yourself.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Motorslice is certainly a game. It presents an interesting, genuinely beautiful world, it teases a lot of lore, but where it personally hooked me was the boss fights. they look amazing, right? You're scaling these massive machines, cutting them down. It reminds me a lot of shadow of the colossus, with a bit more of an action focus. ...But, like, then the rest of the game happens. The world? It's not really explored at all. The lore? it's JUST lore. In short, the story is entirely told…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was looking forward to this game as I love parkour and the atmosphere is great in this game, but it disappointed. First the combat is complete ass, see enemy --> left click, see enemy shooting a saw --> left click twice, that's it... That's not combat. (Also dashing is useless your better off just left clicking) The bosses I fought felt very boring and uninteressting at how to fight them. And my biggest gripe is the parkour itself, while it appears somewhat dynamic, it still falls short as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a parkour game, the movement is incredibly finicky, clunky, and limited, leading to almost zero meaningful movement/skill expression. It's very "Do it exactly this way or die instantly," but then you die anyway due to some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ interaction. I have nothing to say about the plot and the fanservice because it is uninteresting and kind of forced. The megastructure itself is cool though. The collectibles seem to serve zero purpose other than to challenge yourself, but I don't want to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel like this game is so close to being really good, but nothing it is trying to do really sticks. I tried to give the game multiple chances, but each time there wasn't enough to hook me. I didn't finish the game (I stopped at some point between the 2nd and 3rd boss) so I can't speak to the entire experience, but from what I played I'm pretty confident I experienced most of what the game offers. The gameplay is fine at best. Combat is very simple and unchallenging, even the bosses. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sincerely, go play Motorslice. It's pretty rad. The strangest indy game blend of Mirrors Edge, Nier Automata, and general action platforming. Quite enjoyable. And P is Hella cute.
positive · AI labelView post →The parkour/movement is clunky and limited and over 3 hours remained stagnant and unfun. Maybe its gets better, but if after 3 hours I'm being presented with absolutely no possibility of a new way to traverse these incredibly linear and boring environments, you're either padding out your game way too much or you just didn't consider to make it interesting. The combat is one note and simplistic, its not fun or challenging its just incredibly boring. The enemy types aren't difficult or even…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thanks for all the drama, it was fun~ Still a few of you actually spoke like a normal person, so I'll change up the review for them. This game is good. Let's get that down first. The movement is smooth, the sound effects are great, the world design is amazing. The music, at least to me, wasn't anything memorable. The combat is kinda mid at best, but the bosses were interesting. Some bosses were downright frustrating, but as a first game for two devs? Good work. Character design is great, the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For once, I agree with pretty much every negative review I've seen. So, I'll keep this short: The parkour that you spend 80% of the game doing is very on-rails and lacks any engagement. Starts to feel like a Ubisoft climbing section chore with annoying deaths. The combat is tight, but extremely simple. Enemies encounters are short bites of clicking at the right time a few times, and Bosses are either short and disappointing or involve more tedium climbing and are still disappointing. There are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this aesthetic - where modern lighting lends otherwise previous generation levels of detail this sense of realism. Almost as if you're looking at little models running around. Very curious to see if this game can stick the landing (MOTORSLICE) www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xsw...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really wish I could give a "mixed" review option for this one. Its hard to pin it down. I like it overall, I beat it and all. When the game works, its so so fun and satisfying. The parkour feels amazing, especially in the early levels. However, it suffers badly from the Assassin's Creed effect where your character becomes less and less reliable as the levels get more complicated. Let me break it down simply. The good: -Gorgeous art style. I really love this game's use of color, feels…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In this game, cutscenes must be manually advanced by pressing a button. There is one cutscene where the camera is focused exclusively on the protagonist's bare feet. One of the dialogue options is "sniff sniff." 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clicked on her too much and she closed my game :( On a real note: This game is fun so far and I haven't noticed any bugs. It feels smooth like mirrors edge and less floaty than the demo. I will update this review in the future after I 100% the game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After seeing a whole bunch of people say they're afraid to play Motorslice because they heard it's a 'Gooner Game', I'm officially calling a moratorium on that word. The raunchiest Motorslice gets is your orb-camera having a 'Can you lay in the grass and hold me?' dialogue option, which is ignored

positive · AI labelView post →Great idea, poor execution. The movement is terrible, which is probably the worst problem a parkour game can have. The writing is cringe, but most cutscenes are skippable at least. I liked most of the bosses I fought (got to 6 before I decided I was done.) They're reminiscent of the bosses from Shadow of the Colossus. Everything in between the bosses is meh. The regular combat is boring. The negatives would be forgivable if the movement wasn't so unreliable and frustrating.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I competent game to begin with but it looks like half-way through the dev decided to focus his time to include his own fetish content rather than perfecting the decent mechanics which were already there. The marketing for this game definitely hyped up the more impressive combat moments... which take about a minute to complete and then it's back to ogling the girl.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I first discovered MOTORSLICE through one of its earliest devlogs randomly recommended to me on YouTube a little over a year ago. It immediately caught my attention: the gameplay looked interesting, the visuals were striking, and as development continued, it genuinely evolved into the kind of experience I hoped it would be, based on what I saw. MOTORSLICE is probably the closest we’ve gotten to the classic (pre-Ubisoft PS2 trilogy) Prince of Persia games in 3D. You and your enemies die in a…

positive · AI labelView post →This review is being updated to give a heartier recommend due to the dev's attunement to feedback and consistent fixes to the issues I had in the first review—I still have not gone back to finish it as of yet, but I am much more willing to now due to some of the gripes I had in my review being updated or simply explained. neutral · AI labelView post →The chill and cozy vibe had me fooled. This game gets brutally hard after awhile. You'll have no idea where to jump next and it turns into sliding off the edge to your death simulator. I'm so disapponted. I loved everything about this game, from the art style to the characters and world building. The game reminds me or Mirror's Edge and Prince of Persia, but the platforming in those games stay managable, while here, it becomes an exercise in frustration. :( :( :( I'm not gonna downvote the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Motorslice is what happens when a dev goons way too hard over their own OC and forgets to make an actual game. It’s a hot mess of a parkour sim: painfully drawn out, horrible to control, with baffling game feel and physics, sauceless combat, all topped off with some of the most awkward and boring fanservice I’ve ever sat through. Sucks since I really wanted to like it, but hey, at least the soundtrack and visuals are nice.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was hoping for a good parkour game with a nice soundtrack, got a gooners fanfic about their oc with awful combat and janky movement instead. Movement: The main reason why I bought this game. Feels really good when it works, but mostly consists of precise climbing puzzles instead of some clean freerunning and the speed is too slow, a sprint burst would be nice. Inputs can be frustrating when wallrunning/climbing, separate keys could help. Outdoors it can be pretty fun, but most of the indoor…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Motorslice is tight! Glad I got this over another game. This game runs smooth as butter, the movement is satisfying and the art style is cool.
positive · AI labelView post →Been really enjoying Motorslice this evening - an action-parkour game where you beat up sentient construction equipment. While clearly inspired by Mirror's Edge and NieR, I'm reminded of Pseudoregalia - low-budget, passion indie project with great movement tech. Good stuff! ❤️
positive · AI labelView post →if you like incredibly janky games, can put up with near-constant fetish pandering and want a decent enough successor to shadow of the colossus, this is for you. otherwise, idk. satisfied with the price for the length of the game but the devs try too hard to make P attractive it becomes almost astounding. Why does she get all blushy and flustered with an Orb? Why does it seem like she wants to make a move on the Orb? many questions. combat is ok, controls can be incredibly frustrating.
