What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 180 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (1,043 of 1,133 positive).
Players praise the game's music, art style, and innovative battle system. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the story has pacing issues and benefits from playing the original. [4][5][6] A few players criticize the repetitive combat and poor marketing by Square Enix. [7][8][9]

Dont think its a bad game but not worth the full price. There is a lot of dialogue to read so be ready for that and the combat is not the most engaging on top of fighting roughly the same enemies with minor variations. Art style and music is cool but slightly annoyed that as far as i can tell, you only hear the same 3-4 songs (Roaming around) that will change each time you enter the menu. Also makes use of the same …

As a big fan of both NEO and its predecessor, let me start off by saying the game is not for everyone. The story has some pacing issues. There's a huge focus on battling and reading, which could verge on feeling too repetitive for some. And while the story stands pretty well on its own and I think many newcomers could enjoy this game a lot, you do get more out of it if you've played the predecessor.... and said …

A really truly devastatingly good game, with a great story, even better messages to learn about living your life. Of course the soundtrack is outstanding if not the best OST in any video game ever but the gameplay is also incredibly fun and addictive. Listen up y'all the world ends with you. If you want to enjoy life, expand your world. You gotta push your horizons out as far as they'll go

Great game on it's own, but this game is made for the players who played through the original The World Ends with You. The game's translation to 3D has been fantastic. The combat is a quirky take on ARPG where you control all your party members at once. I will say though -- combat can feel repetitive BUT the good thing is, there's over 300+ pins! As a long term TWEWY fan, this game made me fall in love with the …

TWEWY. What can you really say about these games? Amazing art style, some of the best music you'll find in any game. But the real highlight of this one is the battle system. It is one of the most innovative JRPG battle systems I have seen in recent years. A 5 man action battle system that makes it fairly easy for 1 person to control all 5 characters? Yes please. The story is what it is. find legendary warrior. Stop …

NEO: The World Ends with You sits at 90% positive across 182 opinionated reactions from 3 sources. Fresh or rotten — where do you land?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Neo: The World Ends with You received "generally favorable" reviews from critics, according to review aggregator website Metacritic. Eurogamer praised the characterization and design of the characters, finding them suitable for a The World Ends with You sequel as they also interact multiple times while participating in the Reaper's Game. Despite finding the combat system initially simplistic, the more development the player has, Neo allows the player to further experiment with multiple type of powers to fight enemies. GameSpot praised the story but had mixed feelings about appeal of the certain cast members and criticized the constant exposition the narrative gives. Nevertheless, he praised…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's funny how NEO TWEWY is Square Enix's third best action game system (Kingdom Hearts, Dissidia, NEO TWEWY) but it always gets excluded from conversations because nobody played it
positive · AI labelView post →I liked this game so much back when I bought it in 2021, that I bought it again so I can play it all over again on my PC. The only flaw this game has is actually Square's disgusting attempt at marketing it (or lack of thereof). If you're reading this, please give this a try, I swear you won't regret it.

I can't get enough of this franchise, and I hope someday we can get more games, a side story of the old characters or the new ones, a VN whatever it is. Square Enix please get to work and continue the story someday, I'm sure Minamimoto's plans are not finished yet and it would be a great end to the franchise if anything. The story is a lil' convoluted but, as any JRPG enthusiast, I am very good at suspending my disbelief and then it's just a great continuation of the original. Which was probably also very convoluted but obviously I don't remember. Good soundtrack, very fun & chaotic gameplay (that can also be very strategic if you let it!), and a lovely story. This game apparently released to like no fanfare, and that's truly a shame because it's more original than like 90% of the other things Square usually churns out. It's not breaking new ground or anything but it's a quality hybrid beat'em up.
