neutral · AI labelView post →I have a question about the film Nymphomaniac…where is this meant to be set? Like what country does this even take place in? Because everyone has this weird unidentifiable slightly British accent but not? Sometimes Irish. It’s weird.
neutral · AI labelView post →Like I mean it’s probably a bad omen that despite how much Lars’ films dealt with sex and taboo, the closest he got to covering queerness was in Nymphomaniac with a pedophile and an asexual who (SPOILER ALERT) ends the movie by trying to rape the protagonist.
negative · AI labelView post →#Junesploitation Day 10: 2nd Watch Titillation mixed with sadness. Making a soft-core film about a sex worker who kills herself sounds like something Jess Franco would do. He actually did that with SINNER: THE SECRET DIARY OF A NYMPHOMANIAC (1973). @fthismovie.bsky.social
neutral · AI labelView post →Did I ever tell you how Christian Slater is so damn sexy? Expect when he played the dad in Nymphomaniac: Vol. I… That movie was so beneath him. Fk, I wish I was. But, anyways. Tea?
negative · AI labelView post →Sinner: The Secret Diary of a Nymphomaniac (1973) Jess Franco (co-writer/ director) Last one of the night... I haven't seen this one before, but I know (roughly) what it's about. A crime drama of a woman's descent into a world of exploitation. 📽 #PsychotronicPsunday #Filmsky #JessFranco

Unless one counts Nymphomaniac vols. I & II in one screening (with an interval), which was around 4 hours. Surprised I can't think of more. Must be forgetting some.

neutral · AI labelView post →1. Brussels Sprouts. You do you but to me they are disgusting. 2. Nymphomaniac by Lars von Trier. Probably most harmful film I have witnessed in my life. The film itself is shit, the way it has warped public view of my condition is harrowing. 3. Baby by Justin Bieber. No meme, I just don't like it.

neutral · AI labelView post →It’s literally so funny that it basically makes up for him making a fashwave film with Nymphomaniac
negative · AI labelView post →Of the ones Ive seen: Melancholia is solid. Antichrist is a tremendously disturbing movie (I liked). Nymphomaniac is BAD and made me mad. He’s definitely a shithead and his art has a lot of misogynistic qualities so I’m not really interested in more/returning, but his aesthetics are really unique.

neutral · AI labelView post →Based on that, I literally cannot wait for you listen to this episode. It’s like someone posting about being really excited about taking a date to see a sexy new film… Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac.
neutral · AI labelView post →Essentially the movie has unsimulated sex and its really goofy. Meanwhile Nymphomaniac is entirely simulated and manages to make a point about something, however deranged in the lars von trier way

neutral · AI labelView post →I guess weirdos thing alike. Have you noticed the similarities between the 'preppy school girl' aesthetic from the movie Nymphomaniac I, and the aesthetic of #Epstein victims on some photos? So cringe, so disturbing.
negative · AI labelView post →I checked out on von Trier a long time ago. Made it through the first part of NYMPHOMANIAC (that was the "fuck and get fucked"-film, right?), and that was it. Not even the supposed gruesomeness of THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT made me come back...
negative · AI labelView post →Another bad movie pick I probably wouldn’t watch again– Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac. Horrendously long slog of a film (2 volumes, what is your problem) masquerading as something deeper than it is (vaguely misogynist rabble, Von Trier’s MO). Some good performances tho. Uma Thurman’s bit rules.
negative · AI labelView post →hm, I guess I feel maybe I failed to communicate well - I'm surprised your take away was that I didn't think it was feminist because of the emotions and sexualization 🤔 To be fair, I did mention the way sometimes it felt like they leaned into gender stereotypes, but this was more to show how the show was a mix of breaking and re-affirming gender stereotypes ... They have the girls be warriors with swords, but then they are abs obsessed and crying incoherently - you have both stereotypical…

negative · AI labelView post →I’ve never been so turned off by a film full of explicit scenes like #Nymphomaniac and yet I’ve never been so turned on by a show full of murder and horror with almost no physical scenes like #nbcHannibal. This contradiction is so fascinating. #hannibal #hannigram

neutral · AI labelView post →Watched Secretary. What an odd film that feels like it is trying to make Nymphomaniac a more approachable movie. It feels like it peppers salacious "funny" scenes in between real trauma and is largely just a tonal miss for me. Performances are good, but movie was built for thumbnails. #MovieReview
negative · AI labelView post →www.timeout.com/film/best-se... Check out this link for film recommendations My top three with great sex scenes are Y tu mamá también, Blue Is the Warmest Colour, & Nymphomaniac Vol. I & II (it’s basically a very long film split into two)
neutral · AI labelView post →Kirsten Dunst is sublime in Melancholia (2011). God this movie fucking steamrolls your soul. It's perfect. Going to have to watch Nymphomaniac next I guess to further the destruction of my mental state. I don't think Joe likes it. Not enough things blowing up.

neutral · AI labelView post →So today, I found out that twelve years after its release, people are still complaining that Lars Von *bleep*ing Trier made a movie called NYMPHOMANIAC and its basically 5 1/2 pretentious AF hours of nasty asshole sex scenes strung together by incredibly problematic sexual politics? #FilmSky
negative · AI labelView post →Revisited Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac films having long forgotten about the original release stuff. Recent editions are the original cut, which I discovered in situ. Nothing like being ambushed by real sex shots in a narrative film, even when it's already taboo pushing and graphic.
neutral · AI labelView post →I was born in 1975.. l'm choosing one movie per day from each year to today. If I was making this last year, I'd probably pick Nymphomaniac or Pacific Rim. This year made it a whole lot easier to go with 42 and Chadwick at his best. 🍿🎬🎥 📺📽️ #filmsky #moviesky #moviechallenge Day 38/50 2013

This movie is uncomfortable but oddly well written.
