The game is not Tony Hawk's Pro Skater in 2D as I had hoped, it's just a skateboard themed runner game. Although the game seems difficult at first, most people, at least those who don't give up after five minutes, will get used to the controls. Doing tricks is also easy, but the problem, as others have noted in some reviews, is that the controls are not as responsive as they should be. Most of the times I failed a …

OlliOlli is basically the 2D version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater cranked up to infinity. It is brutally hard, but produces a flow seldomly encountered in gaming. Probably one of the most difficult games to master of the ones I've played recently. The Dark Souls of skateboarding. Loved every second.

OlliOlli does a really good job of catering both to hardcore completists and casual gamers. There is abundance of things to do and (possibly) max out, but the beauty lies in the fact that it's pretty much up to the player to decide what amount of completion is enough. It's fairly easy to just beat the basic part of the game but unlocking all levels requires a lot of skill and (pun intended) grinding. It's literally …

I wanted to give this game a positive review initially but when I started doing challenges to progress further in the game, the input system really started to show its flaws. The way the game determines Perfect Landings is one of the worst feeling mechanics I have played with in quite a while. Sometimes you get perfects when you should and other times you get a red fail. I've recorded footage of pressing A at the exact time you land giving you a fail sometimes and perfect other times. It just…

OlliOlli is what arcade-style skateboarding games should be like, but is overpriced and now outclassed by its own sequel. Skateboarding games were founded in the arcade genre. Crazy tricks, insane environments, and ridiculous physics defined skateboarding games for the early part of their existence. And to an extent, they actually returned to that shortly after Skate 2 and Skate 3 decided to take a more silly approach to skateboarding. I guess you could say we never actually left the arcade…

OlliOlli is a 2D side scrolling skate board trick game that suffers from extremely tight and precise controls and timing, if either of these are off by a small amount your entire run is destroyed and the game becomes frustrating, challenging and not fun really fast. The concept of the game sounds cool, but gets destroyed by the controls and timing. The soundtrack and the graphics are nice, however the gameplay is overshadowed by the terrible controls and timing required.

Additional notes: I really wanted to like this game more than that, and to spend more time on it. This is a 2D retro pixel skating simulator/endless runner. Skate along and perform tricks on the way to build up your score. The game does run in 4K but the retro pixel graphics make it look ugly. The controls for the tricks are convoluted and not really a lot of fun, so that kind of defeats the purpose of this being a game and all. Endless runners are a lot like watching paint dry to begin with. So I guess this is like a needlessly difficult version of watching paint dry. The real…

OlliOlli is a mix between a runner and a skate game. The character always move forward, so you gotta stay attentive to the level; however, only trying to finish the level (so jump and grind at the right time) won't be enough to get a great score. You gotta use all of your tricks! So it's not just a typical runner experience of "jump there, slide there", neither is it like skater games where you have complete control over your character's movement and where the gameplay allows for freestyle.…

This game requires a lot of patience and sometimes, it's not enough. It starts off fine with amateur challenges, I believe they can be done by anyone who have a little patience. Then it's moving onto the pro challenges and this part is just fine until Neon City. If you ever manage to get pass the "helicoptering" challenge, you'll be awarded with RAD Mode which is…
