What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 177 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (848 of 1,073 positive).
Players praise the game's fun, mindless hack-and-slash combat and over-the-top fanservice. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the game feels clunky and unpolished, with poor graphics and camera issues. [4][5][6] Many compare it favorably to Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, calling it a B-movie style action game. [7][8][9]

Onechanbara Z2: Chaos looks flashy but is also more fun watching someone else play it than playing it yourself. Character control feels too loose and totally wasn't what I was expecting from gameplay footage - which prompted my refund of the game.

Listen, I booted up Onechanbara Z2: Chaos thinking it was gonna be some dumb button-masher with jiggle physics — and I was absolutely right. But somewhere between slashing zombies and demons in a bikini and switching between my sword-wielding goth gf and cowboy zombie hunter waifu, something awakened in me. 10/10. A true masterpiece for cultured degenerates who just wanna burst a nurst and call it art.

Tell you what, if you like Character Action games like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, God of War or Darksiders, you'll probably love this one. The combo system is incredibly in depth and I'd say even superior to some other games in the genre and the gameplay is super satisfying and wheighty.

Onechanbara Z2: Chaos is a fun little game that fulfills its namesake CHAOS, both in a good way and a bad. --- Visuals This is not a pretty game. Environmental textures are low-quality, lighting is poor, and the character models have this weird glossiness to them. A shame because the 4 main girls' official character renders actually look spectacular compared to their in-game models. Story The plot is not worth …

LOVE this game. I remember playing Onechanbara Bikini Samurai Squad back on my Xbox 360 and I swear I had a gay awakening (lol not really, I just can appreciate hot bad ass girls.) I love hack and slash games and this one is so fun. The graphics are not amazing but have that kind of diamond in the rough charm to it, the personalities of the girls are comedic and enticing. The soundtrack is killer. If you are a fan …

84% of the 177 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Onechanbara Z2: Chaos. The complaint that keeps coming up: clunky controls and floaty character movement. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Onechanbara Z2: Chaos received mixed reviews from critics, currently averaging a 59.22% on GameRankings and a 59/100 on Metacritic, respectively. Praise was given to the games character models and addictive combat, while criticism was drawn to its dated environmental graphics. The game fared well with Famitsu reviewers, whose combined scores added to a 31/40 (8/8/8/7). Kyle MacGregor of Destructoid awarded the game a 5.5/10. MacGregor praised the game's combat, character designs, and sexual fan service, while taking issue to the "linear and repetitive mission structure", and also disliking the enemy AI, commenting that they simply rely on sheer size to pose any sort of challenge. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Onechanbara Z2: Chaos - it's a pretty clunky and lidl hack-and-slash game - but in the good way. If u looking for deep story and polished action game ( something like dmc or bayonetta ) you come to the wrong place. If u wanna see "B-movie style game" with absurd characters and lore - then you're for a good time. Combat here feels sometimes unpolished but it's kinda makes most of the charm of this game. Switching between characters feels fun and when all four characters on the screen do the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay, this is a borderline negative review, because I really was having sufficient fun with this until the last play session. But there's only so much I'm gonna take. The good: The hack and slash is kinda mindless, but you can strategize a bit by changing between our four protagonists. You can get into a flow state, bouncing from enemy to enemy, unleashing an endless flurry of attacks. I also enjoyed the over-the-top finishing animations. The campy story is just fine (if half-nonsensical and…

positive · AI labelView post →Fun game. It has some jank reminiscent of the PS2 era and the characters feel very floaty, but if you are looking for an easy game to kill zombies as of sassy bikini cowgirl ninjas - than this it. The game can normally be found for less than $10, but for some reason they never released a deluxe version with the DLC. So avoid the DLC unless you feel like burning through $50 for extra cosmetics. If you are only going to play one Onechanbara, then Origin is the one to get. It is just better…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a game that truly feels like a relic of a bygone era—an era when the goal of video game development was pure, unadulterated fun. This is a hidden gem on Steam, shining with its commitment to exhilarating, straightforward entertainment. The combat system and character design are undeniably top-notch. Playing as any of the characters —each a goddess in her own right— offers a visceral and engaging experience. The girls are not only fun but also stunning, fitting seamlessly into the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Normally I like games with fanservice in them, so that's not why it's getting a negative review. The visuals are lacking in saturation, leading to dull colors that I find unappealing to look at. The gameplay is my biggest problem though. It reminds me of Dynasty Warriors, where you fight hordes of mindless AI drones, followed by pretty mindless bosses that just let you wail at them. It's not even remotely challenging even on normal mode. Onee Chanbara Origin looks like it would be more my cup…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So this game has been sitting on the backlog for a while and I do remember trying it out when I first got. That first attempt didn't last long as camera controls felt atrocious and the combat didn't feel too great either so I put the game down. Fast forward a couple years and after trying it again, nothing really changed in the way I felt. The camera and targeting just feel so bad in this game but I will say the combat system can get decently deep if you really want to dive into it. I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Onechanbara Z2: Chaos is a 3rd person action game - emphasis on the action here - which has surprised me in a good way. The combat is fast, fun and works very well. Expect to chain together hundreds of hits per combo when you get the hang of it. The game has 4 female characters who go out on missions and you switch between them on the fly. This is actually crucial to do on some of the boss fights and thankfully it's simple to do. If you hold right button to lock target, then hold A button to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a button-masher that is 8 years old, but it is still being sold for $40. Furthermore, the combat is rather shallow and the game devs spent more time on fan service than on actual gameplay. Finally, the game crashed so many times. Maybe it would be okay if you get it on sale at 80% off, or more, but certainly don’t bother at full price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is very stylish and has some great waifus. It desperately wants to be DMC and mostly succeeds at achieving this goal 👍👍👍
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What if you combine DMC/Bayonetta with a Dyanasty Warriors game with a bunch of fanservice and female characters? You'd get Onechanbara Z2: Chaos. Well, if the game was more polished and had more of a bigger budget. There are a bunch of mechanics in the game but it is buried under the musou style combat and unexplained tips in the game. The game gives 4 characters to switch between and you can different setups and/or stagger enemies for another character to get in and attack. You get three…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Onechanbara Z2: Chaos is a high-speed hack-and-slash focused entirely on momentum, aggression, and stylish execution. The action centers on cutting through dense groups of enemies with rapid swordplay, acrobatics, and character-specific weapons. Combat emphasizes fluidity, encouraging players to keep combos alive, swap characters mid-attack, and maintain pressure without slowing down. The four protagonists—Aya, Saki, Kagura, and Saaya—each offer distinct playstyles. Aya delivers balanced, fast…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun game, which you will probably only play once. I got this game and played through it many years ago, but decided to revisit to check it again. Graphics are dated now, but they aren't that bad for 1080p resolution, which is the maximum supported by the game. If you got problem with your screen, try going to the game .exe file and set it up in the Windows compatibility options to run with the application DPI setting. Character design is good, although Kagura and Aya are the only two…

It's not a bad game it about average. the story is kinda straight forward but not really interesting the script of it does feel like a old 80s - 90s B-Rated action/sci-fi films. which is also includes the horrible voice acting but you will find it pretty funny. gameplay wise it pretty easy and simple i recommend using a playstation controler to help with those quick time…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't buy this at full price. $15-20 is the ideal price to pay. It isn't the worst extreme action game by far. When you're cutting through hordes of trash mobs a la Musous the gore and zoom-ins are fun. As soon as you get to the bosses, it becomes a pain in the ass. See, most mobs can be staggered or launched. Bosses however cannot and are capable of dumping out massive damage with a move that's barely telegraphed or difficult to dodge mid combo considering the range. Aya/Saki at least have a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's one of the best hack and slash games I've ever played. The combos, the visuals, the sound effects and the soundtracks are all so amazing. The story's really fun with the lore and the characters makes the game even more fun. Every character has their own personality and they all feel different from each other. The story telling is awesome with comic style cutscenes and in-game cutscenes. The best part about this game which really shines a lot is particularly the combat,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's the gaming equivalent of junk food, but sometimes that's what you need. Fun characters, decent combat (especaially for a Tamsoft game), and a story that doesn't take itself too seriously. I like Saki the most. It's fun to punch things, and the parry is satisfying. There are definitely some issues, though. The gameplay, while fun, can get a little too frantic. It's not nearly as refined as Onechanbara Origin, the other title in this series on Steam. The final boss in particular is just…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let me be clear, this game takes out a lot of the technicality that origin had that made it more like dmc and puts this more in the dynasty warrior vain. The boss fights are hot garbage and there is no incentive to improve how you play the game, but there's a lot of content in it which forces you to engage in the game play in different ways. By far the biggest thing this title suffers from is information as its expected you played the first title which isn't available in america (slight edit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So Onechanbara Z2. It is the last game in the time line of the Oneechanbara/zombie hunter franchise. I'll try to sum it up without spoiling anything you wouldn't already know from playing the first stage. Oh and I know the hours are low but I do also own this game on PS4 so I do have the time(if that matters). WHAT IS IT ABOUT??? positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Onechanbara Z2 Chaos ReView SUMMARY Onechanbara Z2 Chaos is from a series of クソゲー ("Kusoge" meaning, Sh*ty Game). Its a arcady-style hack n slash game in the veins of Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry (DMC). As such, the goal of the game is to slice things up and look cool while doing it. As a kusoge its not nearly as polished as modern games in the genre, but it does have a very chaotic mechanic that makes this game unique. STORY N/A GAMEPLAY As mentioned, the game takes inspiration from games…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It does not feels like Bayonetta, or Lollipop Chainsaw, or even Musou. It does not feels like anything, you have no sense of control, you just smash smash smash smash smash. Cause the controls SUCK and learning the combos is just impossible! You could learn the combos, but the geniuses who created this game have this great idea of not showing you the combo sequence, IN practice mode! Instead it show you WHEN to press and not WHAT to press!
