What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 175 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (18,132 of 19,659 positive).
Some players find the co-op focus makes solo play frustrating and unbalanced. [1][2][3]

This game is not worth it and I'm sad I didn't read the reviews before playing for longer than 3 hours. Game will crash on the last hit of a orc in your last round. Losing progress for the level. Co-op = constant crashes. Amazing that the main feature showcased in the this Sequel...... doesn't work??? I'll change my review if It ever gets fixed. Doubtful.

Please do not buy this game. Buying this game encourages this company's behavior. This game has game-breaking crashes. There are discussion posts about this going back YEARS. I myself have tried a WIN7 compatibility layer, different graphical setting etc to no avail. Beginning a few hours into the game you will like start crashing, usually at the ends of levels, mostly in coop. If you are buying this game for coop, …

I loved playing this with my cousin when it first came out. Tower defense games are always better with a partner to enjoy it with. A must have for sure!

TLDR: A genuine improvement over the original in nearly every way, but its co-op focused design means solo players can easily face frustration over its duo designed levels. PROS: ➕Massive improvements over OMD1 ➕Expanded trap progression ➕Trinkets allows a slot to provide a passive effect ➕Leaderboards & Endless waves to improve replay value CONS: ➖Can’t remove upgrades from a single trap - have to redo everything …

Orcs Must Die! 2 is a genuinely great tower defense game that takes everything good about the first game and cranks it up — more traps, more maps, two playable characters, and co-op that makes the chaos feel electric. Watching your carefully laid trap combos shred an orc horde never gets old, and the co-op adds a whole layer of improvised teamwork that keeps me coming back for just one more run. That said, I'd be …

60 of 193 · most liked firsti love orcs must die 2 as much as i enjoyed orcs must die 1 OMD 1 had some issues with animations but for me haven't crashed but sadly due to OMD 2 being old, the game doesn't work well on newer systems and tends to crash when you finish beating a stage 6/10 truly a fun game that expanded on the first one plus has COOP but i cannot recommend buying due to bugs, resolution errors and crashing that didn't really existed when it came out. I hope the devs can fix these issues.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel the developers really need to stop turning OMD in CO-OP only not everyone wants to play with others or can play with others. So you're stuck now defending two lanes that are clearly meant for CO-OP. Making the game extremely difficulty doing it solo. So my recommendation is to download some mods from the workshop to manually balance the game. 50% extra gold and 50% cheaper traps should balance things out smoothly. Though do know that when you do this you won't be able to get…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Apparently this Crash Monster can't keep up with new tech in 2026. Expect 2 hrs max playtime before CTD. No manual or incremental saves, so progress is effectively cooked when it happens. FWIW - Win11 Pro / RTX 4070 Super / 64gb RAM / AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No longer playable. Crashes at the end of a game every game. Known error for a long time and devs won't fix it. Don't waste your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Constant crashes on Endless oh high end PC. I had sooo much fun surviving until wave 44 on endless to get "It's Impossible!" achievement just to see the game closes without any notification. Fix your game, Robot Entertainment.

positive · AI labelView post →Loved 1. Sadly, no matter what I do, resoluton wont go past 720p and I play on aa 4k 32" monitor so its unplayable for me on a tiny screen portion. Cannot recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely fun game, but absolute balls when it comes to crashes and disconnect. For a 10 year old game, it holds up, but for other aspect prepare your balls. Also if you're using Windows 11, prepare endless crashes. As of right now there are no community patches for this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It would be a lovely game, but it has been crashing to desktop in both single-player and multi-player for like 10 years now without them ever bothering to fix this. I would be very cautious with buying any game made by these devs because they DO NOT CARE at all about having a working product.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crashes more than a demolition derby, which makes achievements like 50 waves almost impossible.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't buy it. It's unplayable. It crashes in multiplayer mode, rendering all the progress in the level useless. Devs refuse to fix this issue. Windowed mode freezes up the game. The buttons don't align so you can't click on anything.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a blast, super fun... buuuuuuut Game is busted on Windows 11 (various crashes). However, it does run great on Linux / SteamOS
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is trash it made my pc crash. After two restarts it made me boot into safe mode and then it proceeded to crash again. Then it wasn't detecting my graphics card. I had to remove my CMOS battery and reinstall my graphics card and then was able to boot up. I was trying to play this 14 year old game but looks like it still has problems save your money guys.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you like tower defense, fighting with yo traps and friends, holy recommended especially the singleplayer its amazing, but hard and requires some management between when to place, what to place, its so good i just kept playing for 3 hours on one go, no lag with my specs
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Avoid this game if you like the first one. Orcs Must Die! was a tower defense puzzle game with arcade combat and horde fighting elements woven in. Orcs Must Die! 2 is an arcade horde shooter with no puzzle aspect and barely any tower defense elements, since your traps don't do much and you're mostly just running around frantically shooting enemies. If you like horde shooters, Earth Defense Force is better. If you like tower defense, OMD! 1 is the best of the genre, period. But this game has…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, first thing is first, never played multiplayer. I ain't got no friends to play games with. Not but a few good eggs who will jump into the occasional TF2 game, like Negative Xero. No, I play solo. Game is pretty decent, a solid step up from the first Orcs Must Die! Mechanically it is fundamentally the same, but there are more trap options to play with. And that is where this game's strengths are, finding fun combos you can put together with traps. Bounce a guy back, maybe two or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →sad that this is not getting the fixes for win11
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s actually a really fun game, but at a certain point in co-op, it keeps crashing. It’s extremely frustrating. We tried all the tips and fixes suggested by the online community, but unfortunately, none of them solved the problem. Judging by the more recent negative reviews, this seems to be a known issue. Maybe the game runs without crashes in single-player, but if you’re interested in co-op, I’d recommend staying away from it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, especially with a friend but its plagued by constant crashes to desktop after nearly every match. Makes it basically unplayable sadly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically when we finish the stage, one of us or even both got their games closed. Very frustrating. If it's only one of us, then we can continue, but if both we have to replay the stage. Probably we will finish the game, but we have no place in our heart for sequals.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →one of my fav games its gem like i said about first game but this time there is coop which is something i like alot so the same epic energy and nice experience with everything so what i like about this there is now female character and there is coop so if you have partner enjoy this while you can
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game that is plagued by constant crashes, with or without DLC installed. From what I have read online, this has been a serious issue since the game has launched. The developers seem to not care either, don't buy a broken game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still peak in 2026, still actually playable. Crashes sometimes when you play multiplayer at random moments, but its still really fun tower defense game. I recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're like me, you'll be laughing and having some great fun. Then, seemingly in an instant, you'll become insatiably bored and never want to play it again. It's McDonalds gaming. Not life-changing, not life-ending. Play with a friend if possible, as those first few hours really are some good ol' fashioned fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In 2025 on Windows 11 this game crashes even in singleplayer ALWAYS! Doesn't matter if I play on RTX 4080 Mobile or integrated graphics (Intel Core i9-14900HX).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So much fun, yet after every win in multiplayer the game crashes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, won't stop crashing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very fun but worthless because it crashes every 10 minutes, don't buy!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game but crashes constantly on modern architecture.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved it. But in the co-op mode you will experience crashes, and that seems to have prevented my friend and I from pursuing it further. Seems like the game is just too old to be able to handle modern hardware, as is usually the case. If you're looking to play co-op though, I would suggest Orcs Must Die! 3 instead, we haven't encountered any problems so far with that one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, terrible technical state. Crashes in the end of 99% of games in coop And sometimes before the end, therefore erasing all progress of the level. Sometimes 10 times in a row for one level.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doesn't work on windows 11
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Orcs Must Die! 2 takes everything that made the first game fun and cranks it up to 11. The biggest addition is co-op, and it completely changes the experience in the best way possible. Setting up huge trap combinations with a friend and surviving massive waves together is incredibly fun. There’s also way more content this time around: more traps, more enemies, more upgrades, and a lot more freedom to experiment with different builds and strategies. If you enjoy replaying levels and optimizing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun to play, easy to learn and hard to master. The problem is that it crashes almost every level we play. If we're lucky it crashes at mission complete and we still get the progression, but more and more often it crashes near the end of the level and then we lose the progress. Given how old it is it isn't gonna get patched now, haven't tried it solo but maybe it's more playable there.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Coop is broken and nobody knows how to fix it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4 out a 5 pure and simple. in the 3rd game the traps so limited in customization that i dislike it. but this game is far better. art 4 fun 5 music 4
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't get me wrong, it's a fine game (I still liked OMD 1's level design more though) but it isn't working well on modern operating systems. Expect a lot of crashes, especially in coop, at the end of each level. This is a big problem for achievement hunters since crashes won't let the game count your kills after a level (which are needed for some achievements).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →funslop is back on the menu (im a time traveller)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →keeps crashing in multiplayer
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Currently broken for windows 11 sad wanted to replay this classic
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still fun! A version that improves on practically every aspect of the first installment, including a cooperative mode that, honestly, makes it impossible for me to imagine these games without it. A must-play in action tower defense games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kinda fun for about 4.5 hours.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Orcs Must Die is just another boring walk in the park not recommended at all. What could have been an exciting mix of strategy and action quickly turns into a repetitive, predictable experience. The levels feel almost identical, the enemies lack variety, and the gameplay loop becomes stale far too soon. Unless you’re an absolute fan of repetitive wave-defense gameplay, there are far better ways to spend your time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you are looking to play this on pc do not waste your time for it will crash 90% of the time. The game itself is legit worthless
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Much like OMD3 it's amazing on co-op. One thing I loved about this one over OMD3 is that the heroes individually are relatively weak (for example very hard to get headshots) which in turn places a greater emphasis on the traps & teamwork. It's not your standard relaxing tower defence game, you have to make decisions on where to place traps or set up a chokepoint fast & it becomes very chaotic in seconds. Single player feels grindy and a lot of the maps have multiple exits, so early on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As of today, Shantae: Half Genie Hero (Switch, released in 2017) is the 266th best game of all time according to me, directly below Final Fantasy Legend 3 and Directly above Orcs Must Die! 2. It is part of Tier 30. There are 48 tiers and 539 games in the list.

neutral · AI labelView post →My total playtime to 100% w/ DLC: 32.7 hours. Orcs Must Die 2 is a fun 3D tower defense, but in the prequel, the game was given a co-op option. I enjoyed OMD1 a lot, and I still enjoyed this one, but I don't recommend it. The biggest reason why will be at the bottom (it is crashes. A lot of them). First, what the game does well: • There are more traps, weapons, and new trinkets available, creating a wider pool of diversity. • The new trinkets are fun, they give passive effects when carried…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seems to lack any mechanism for strategy? Kinda just like... straight ass?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and goofy game that doesn't take itself too seriously. I don't generally care for tower defense games, but this one shines since you've got your caster. Great sense of humor, and I'm generally critical of games trying to be humorous because it's a tough needle to thread. Never played coop, but I imagine that's even better.
