What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 35 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (90 of 111 positive).
Players find Paper.io 2 a fun, simple territory-capture game that works well for short sessions. [1][2] Some reviewers enjoy the power-ups and upgrades, but others say they ruin balance. [3][4][5] Several players criticize the lack of online multiplayer and limited resolution options. [6][7][8]

This could have been a fun local multiplayer game, but the stupidly designed power ups make the game unplayable. One power up makes you invincible and extremely fast for up to 21 seconds, another one makes you invincible and kills anyone who touches you or your area, again for up to 21 seconds. It's ridiculous. You are the first one to pick up a power up, you win. Simple as that. Nothing else matters. And worst of …

Paper.io 2 was originally released for mobile phones and on the web in 2019 as a free-to-play game. Few months back we received a pc port here on Steam for 4.99 euros + paid DLCs. I played Paper.io 2 when it originally released on my phone and as a mobile game i liked it. And here's the problem. This is a mobile game which in most cases should not be released on computers. But still if it was a complete copy of the …

A pretty good single player version of the classic MP territory conquering game. The maps of countries aren't as detailed/accurate as I would like, but it was kinda nice to experience the nostalgia of playing paper.io again regardless. It has kind of a rogue-lite structure to it as well, where you can buy permanent upgrades that help you in future rounds.

a fun enough little game reminiscent of some mobile apps and .io sites. the upgrading of powerups is interesting but once you get to a certain point you can clear some maps in seconds. its a game to be played for an hour when you're bored and have nothing better to do.

So far it's fun playing solo. Purchased this with the 20 for 20 bundle, it seems a fair price and some of the games support local co-op. I think these simple games will make for decent party games. Will update once I play with friends or family.
Summarised from 28 of the 37 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 14, 2026. How summaries are made
69% of the 35 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Paper io 2. The complaint that keeps coming up: power-ups are overpowered and ruin balance. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →what is crazy to me about this game is that it doesn't support above 1080p, and even though it pretends to be a massive multiplayer game like snake.io you can't do that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Needs a battle pass and micro transactions.

neutral · AI labelView post →Trap of the day in Paper io-2: the bonus game keeps pushing me into the chests. Looks like free loot - but every chest adds time before the next round. For a speedrun I skip them all. Grab or skip - what do you do? #paperio2 #DavidLyfter

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really fun and you can even play with friends. I love the abilities and everything the game has to offer. However if you are playing and your game bugs, you might be screwed and get stuck on the loading screen for the rest of your time playing this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The balance is horrible. The godlike powerups are the main problem, followed by the extremely dumb and purposefully weak AI of the bots (yes, bots, there are no humans here). The game is fun for the first couple of hours, but it quickly snowballs into a god simulator, to a point of no fun at all. "Oh, you died? Here, have one of your free revives. Oh lord, you got a powerup?! Well now you pretty much instantly win. " It is clearly visible, that the game was purely made for a quick cash grab;…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Paper.io 2 is the desktop adaptation of VOODOO’s widely recognized territory-capture arcade formula, published on Steam by QubicGames and Gamersky Games. Originally popularized on mobile and browser platforms, the game transitions its fast-paced, risk-heavy mechanics to PC with added features tailored for couch multiplayer and short competitive sessions. While the concept remains minimalistic, its simplicity is precisely what gives it enduring appeal: every match is built around tension,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ games I have ever played. To 100% you need to beat all the countries but you can only do like 6 or 7 before it ♥♥♥♥♥ itself. Also there is no online so its just bots and also the power ups are too OP.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, I have spent way more time in this game in the last few days that I expected when I bought it. I'm determined to hit every achievement now. I love this game. I need paper.io, not an intervention. Who are you people. Get out of my house!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This, you want to know about it? It's harder than when I see men. This game is the reason why I had a coma for the past dinoyears. I have suffered, cried, and got jumped and booty raped in the back of a school bus because of the difficulty of this game. If you enjoy having a 10 foot poll getting shoved in you, buy this game. If you enjoy having Herobrine appear in real life, buy this game. I promise, you'll regret every second of it. Truly, a difficult game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this in a bundle, fun, challenging and a little annoying all in one lol. Not sure why it's not verified for deck as I have had no issues with it. Gameplay, Controls, graphic, sound all seem perfect to me. Easy to pick up and play,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the simulation this gives my brain.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →should be Deck Verified or at least Playable (currently Unsupported)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →8/10 good graphics 5/10 gameplay either you spawned in good position and be aware you will rage a lot in this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/Rmy-mhK2U1w Simplistic goals and controls limit the long term enjoyment for this 2D territory capture game.
