Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 190 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (818 of 892 positive).
Some reviewers note the game becomes repetitive in later stages. [1][2][3]

As there is no middle ground review option, I suppose I'll go with what emotions I got after fully completing the game, and those are definitely negative. The game turned into a complete annoyance and unbearable mundanity. The start was very promising and nice, however. The actual gameplay is very solid, I liked it very much: the general pace, unlocking of new mechanics and dishes, new counters (even if they were …

If you’re up for frying four eggs while cutting bread and preparing takeout coffee all at the same time, this game is for you. It’s a cozy cooking sim with a strong emphasis on time management. Fun, addictive, and with the surprising addition of a story full of more serious life dilemmas. I’m not sure if that narrative part was well executed, though, but I enjoyed the whole gameplay, laid-back music, and variety of …

Really nice game for people with ADHD or ADD. You really do lose track of time. Perfect for when you want to quiet your loud mind and just vibe with some relaxing jazz. Can be a bit repetitive at times so I only hop in the game when I just wanna zone out. It is indeed very nostalgic. If you've enjoyed flash games in the past like Purple Palace and Diner dash you'll probably also enjoy this. Grab it on sale.

When I bought the game, I was just expecting a short mini-game that could be finished in a few hours. But it turned out to be something that kept me engaged for more than 30 hours without feeling bored. I was planning to complete it with 100% achievements, but it started to feel overly repetitive (and I’m kind of bored now, haha), so I’ll stop for now. Maybe one day I’ll come back to it. I strongly recommend this …

Pixel Cafe, developed and published by Baltoro Games, is a heartfelt blend of time-management simulation and narrative introspection that takes the frenetic rhythm of café work and infuses it with quiet moments of reflection. It follows the story of Pixel, a young woman returning to her hometown of Karstok to rebuild her life while working a series of café and bar jobs. What initially seems like a typical service …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →lots of artificial difficulty, sure you can play on easy but even on medium to get 100% you hv to do the night missions with the game breaking your coffee machine every 3secs forcing you to play a stupid minigame each time it breaks down. do not get this game if you are looking for a chill game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the gameplay is similar to the flash cooking games i used to play, combined with the music of this game it's really nostalgic. it got a bit repetitive at the end but it's a fun game

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is an interesting cafe management game. The gameplay starts off simple with serving coffee, but it quickly becomes much more challenging as you unlock new recipes, multiple counters, and busier shifts. Each cafe introduces different foods, drinks, and layouts, keeping every chapter feeling fresh. I also like being able to upgrade the workstations to make serving customers more efficient as the difficulty increases. I find it so addictive because every time I think I'm finished, a new recipe,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game has no business being this emotional. what do you mean why am i crying while serving coffee? okay, maybe i am, so what?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After launching, the game's first message is "Gamepad is strongly recommended!" , but I don't think so. It was all good playing through the normal levels and story with the controller, but on the nightmare levels, it was very frustrating. The biggest problem with the controller is the amount of stuff you need to go through just to make a singular order. For example, I remember losing so much time trying to select the right color of whipped cream and picking the cherries/straws for the beverages…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Most Accurate Wage Slave Simulator: Food Service Edition (*/ω\*) I clock out of my food service job in real life only to clock into this game, which has arguably worse employee protection laws if any, and then I play as a poor underpaid customer service worker who could genuinely benefit from a nap. 10/10 game but I found the story itself was not really my cup of tea, but the gameplay loop is incredibly satisfying and it offered everything I was looking for in a pixel time management…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've 100% the game. It's great if you literally want to quiet your mind, and get into a groove. I didn't really care about the story... the game play is a bit odd to get used to, but eventually it sticks. There are some weird moments, however, where it lags, as if it cannot keep up with your actions.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring ass game, that 10 year old android cooking game is better than this sloppy shi
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not for me. The coffee machine breaking mini game is just annoying as heck. The pixel art was nice, and I wasn't a fan of the story. Didn't hook me at all. The most fun was in hard mode during the night shifts but controls with the controller felt clunky at times when selecting the different stuff you can add to whatever you're making. Didn't feel good in the long run. It's not that bad though, just not for me. Had quite a bit of fun for the first 2hrs then it started feeling quite repetitive.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately I found the game to be too repetitive for me and I didn't enjoy the writing either.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very story-rich and wholesome game, I got hooked within the first hour. The overall gameplay is pleasant, and the graphics are great. However, the gameplay lacks variety, and the number of unlockable cooking machines feels limited given the length of the story. It gets a bit repetitive later on when I'm trying to read all the stories and get full achievements. Also, there's no mini-map to quickly switch between different lands, which makes rereading the story a bit inconvenient. But that's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →my fave cozy game! as someone who's loved retro and pixel art forevs ☕🤎 and always dreamed of working in cafes, so this one's highly recommended
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Story made me cry and question my existance, but some levels toward the end were too long and boring. Wish we could see more of Pixel's story at the end, she really grew so much from the beginning of the game. Solid 7/10 overall, achievements were super easy to obtain.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a 30yo I freaking love this game, it got me hooked like a fiddle diddle Keep up with the good work Baltoro Games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i didn't expect to like pixel cafe as much as i did, and after playing ~3 hours almost put it off for something else. as my playtime indicates, i ended up finishing the game, and i'm glad i did! first things first, all of the criticism around this game is fair. it recommends you play with controller but i don't know if i necessarily agree -- controller just takes way too long to press through all the buttons at the speed you need to go in order to three star all of the highest difficulty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can’t believe I only discovered Pixel Café two years after its release. It’s such a fantastic game and I’ve been having an incredible amount of fun with it! For me, playing on medium difficulty, this is definitely not the “cozy game” that some YouTubers have described. The 6-minute waiter phases are intense, and you really can’t step away from the PC or let your mind wander, it keeps you fully engaged the whole time. The game is packed with content, including multiple endings and even more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are interested in the game I highly suggest you play the Demo. Now ignore everything that is unrelated to the game play and imagine yourself do what is shown for 20h. At a certain point this game felt more like a chore then a game. It may be different if the game had a coming of age story, as the store page says, for real but in my opinion there is not. Yes there are story slices… but some slices alone are simple not enough. I think after 10h I got the ability to just play it by pure…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very story rich! The game is very fun and the upgrades to each kitchen are helpful. The challenge modes are super difficult but doable with enough practice. I like the soundtrack and love how different each recipe is, especially with the added ingredients to the older existing ones. Price is worth it but have seen it on a huge sale of just 1 dollar. It is playable on steam deck. Def worth the grab.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The further in I go, the less I enjoy it. • Even using a controller, it's really uncomfortable. Towards the end, the amount of speed and presses required is physically painful, even with all the upgrades. It's even worse if you use the mouse. • The story so far is relatively mundane but in a depressing way. It's not poorly written or anything. It's just a bit of a bummer. • It's really unclear how exactly you're supposed to manage some of the levels in this game. The bonus levels seem to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[Steam] Pixel Cafe ($1.29 / 90% off).
neutral · AI labelView post →I really wanted to like this game, it has everything I usually want: cute pixel graphics, good music, relaxing play style, story etcc. Unfortunately for me, the gameplay loop fell flat, it felt more like a chore for what feels like crumbs of story that don't even feel satisfying in the end. It's fun at the start, and for me it just got tedious after. Concept is nice, but maybe for someone else that doesn't mind a gameplay loop like this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pixel Cafe, an indie blend between a visual novel and arcade cooking game releases in less than two weeks! I'm both excited, and anxious, cause it's the first commercial project I ever worked on. I'm also incredibly proud of everything the team and I maged to achieve. Check it out! Link in reply.
positive · AI labelView post →Relaxing yet challenging experience overall. Story didn't convince me at first but it eventually "clicked". Music was also good. Only downside is that it might get repetitive at times before the story kicks in
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought it on sale and played it coz' I was bored. Here I am with all the achievements. Very easy to be invested in the gameplay. It has a heartfelt story and a very engaging gameplay. You can adjust the difficulty too, so it was fun to play with a little bit of a challenge. I easily got into the groove of the game and was not bored all throughout. Can be repetitive though, but luckily for me, I loved that. Not everyone will like the repetitiveness but I sure did. Might've been the autism idk.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is everything I could want out of a multi-tasking cooking sim. The narrative is stellar and so intriguing to learn more about. I never felt discouraged from 100% every level, even if some were more rage-inducing than others lol Only complaint is I don't have more game to play. This game is worth every cent and I highly recommend it to those looking for a cozy vibe, but fun/stressful multi-tasking levels. Can't stress enough how great this game is
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're looking for something to scratch that nostalgic "cake mania" itch, look no further. This is a modern iteration that I thoroughly enjoyed. At first sight it's a simple cooking game but it quickly becomes complex and offers a real fun challenge to complete and perfect. On top of that it keeps switching things up to keep it fresh, has a good soundtrack and a decent story. Given its price I would 100% recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVE LOVE LOVE ITT, I love the art style, the different kind of stories on every level. its a very fun and chill game to play I highly recommend <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Going to be playing some Pixel Cafe TOMORROW! at around 1:30pm CST! This game is currently cheap as heck at 0.77 cents on Steam until October 6th! #sales #pngtuber #smallstreamers #twitchstreamer #pixelgames #cooking
positive · AI labelView post →This game is so much fun! I was feeling nostalgic and looking for something that had similar vibes to Diner Dash - this delivered and then some! A really poignant story, delightful gameplay, and a surprising length for the price. I will gladly play this plenty more times, I adored it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a very cute barista game, which has cozy vibes but is actually really stressfull if you get to later stages :D i really like it. The story is also nice, even if I'm probably too old (with 37) for understanding everything Pixel thinks - I'm actually more on the side of her parents, but eh.. whatever. The mini stories around the bar owners are also a nice touch :3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got it 90% during a sale and must say how very impressed i am with this game. Very heartwarming and relatable story with an easy to understand game mechanic that i think just had enough variety for the length. 100% completed the game within 23 hours. The art style is very endearing and the music i especially loved for some of the levels :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game. I had found the demo through one of Steam's Next Fests, and fell in love with it immediately. I found the demo easy to play and interesting enough with the story that I wanted to follow along. You play as Pixel, a girl trying to go through her life trying to navigate the loss of her grandparents and the absence of her parents. You go to different locations to manage making drinks and food, and hopefully find her place in the world during it all. I loved the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bugs... Most importantly, the game isn't hard — it's the controls. This game has terrible controls. Playing well doesn't affect the story at all. I bought a new coffee machine, and it broke immediately. This game is a joke.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[Steam] Pixel Cafe ($4.54 / 65% off).
neutral · AI labelView post →really enjoyed the aesthetics of this game, and the overall gameplay was also fun. just did not like how easy it was for a seasoned diner dash/delicious emily pro player. my con list is a bit extensive, but i'd count it as feedback for any future endeavors from the devs (would love to see a sequel, honestly!) love: - aesthetic - music - gameplay - home upgrades were very cute and a nice + unique concept for a cooking game cons: - you can pour the colorful drinks in any order you want - all…

It is beautiful to look at and the level are well balanced. Pros: Overall look and feel Great graphics Good mix of story and gameplay Nice calming music, that changes from location to location Gameplay Multiple control modes: Mouse only, M&K, Controller Three difficulties ranging from cozy to actually challenging New locations come with new obstacles Levels within a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love following the story of Pixel most of the time but some scenes could use more details since they left me questioning. The early game was pretty chill which made me try this game in the first place. However, in mid to late game it got way too chill (in a boring way) and pretty repetitive with normal difficulty. Late game felt like I had to push myself to finish the game to get achievements. I wished the NPCs would walk a bit faster. Thanks to their slow walking which took forever to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed the game-and the story more than I thought i would as someone who was JUST wanting a cooking time management game. If you've played cooking time management games before, it's very much the same mechanics (minus micro-transaction hell). Juggling cooking food and beverage making; shop upgrades alongside harder levels, including 'nightmare' ones. The nightmare levels aren't just busier, Pixel herself becomes distressed which you experience through her distorted hearing, loud heartbeat…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I always a fan of time management game and I dare say this is one of the best!! It's very challenging, but you can still enjoy it to the last minute (and I played the hard difficulty) Any restaurants with the sandwiches made me sweat tho! Honestly, I didn't expect that the game would offer you so much levels to play. Never expect myself to play time management game more than 15 hours! I love this game so so much. The arts, the music, and the story. Everything goes so well together. Really,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is more of a neutral review, theres good and bad about this game. + general gameplay + visuals + controls +/- variety of game elements - plot/story - length - difficulty (too easy) Story, surprisingly, is a big negative point and was quite underwhelming. But i feel like people play these kind of games more so for the gameplay rather than the story (or even if theres no story at all), so i decided to still recommend the game Gameplay is fun, very repetitive and at times…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Happy Sunday folks! I forgot to share that I did a chill indie game playthrough on my Youtube The Pumpkin Patch Arcade. I played the demo for the game Pixel Cafe, a visual novel with cooking game mechanics. 💜✨ Find the playthough below 👇 www.youtube.com/@pumpkinpatc...
neutral · AI labelView post →If you like management, if you like games that have patterns and require you to be quick handed... and that old cooking mechanism game with a nice atmosphere, that remind you of your childhood, this is it... But the story it self? could've been better- but i skip most of the dialogue if its not making so much sense, so... Love love love the game for old time sake.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game 8/8: Pixel Cafe Concept similar to Restaurant Tycoon but this one has a really nice art style and some story too. My first impression is that the game is really nice and fun. I will probably continue this (and the other games in the bundle) and maybe share some more posts about them in future!
positive · AI labelView post →Cute fun game, i loved Pixel and thought she was so relatable, its a nice story about a young woman finding herself and her confidence. much love!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had so much fun with this game, I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys cooking, story or puzzle games! Honestly surprised it is seems to be quite unknown, it's very polished and clean. *Game Spoilers ahead* The only thing I wish they did was have some more fun with the end. You get your own cafe, but you don't ever get to work in it; which was actually quite disappointing as that was where your whole journey was heading. Creators if you're reading this please add this as a DLC, a few…

positive · AI labelView post →So fun and addicting! stressful at times
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I immediately mess up when unfocused- anyway- pixel art is nice. And you can experience the hell of hospitality so what more do u want right-
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do recommend it, but I also thought I was done at least 4 times before the map went and expanded again and more levels were added. Otherwise, highly addicting service game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i love the art style of this game, and the soundtrack makes it all the more cosy!!! i love the attention towards Pixel and how her character is shaped by her experiences and the people around her.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got it because these kind of games were my childhood and I really enjoy it! (more than I thought) I play it to chill and enjoy but constantly be hit with stess especially when I accept the overtime (I DON'T KNOW WHY I KEEP DOING THAT TO MYSELF IT IS OPTIONAL). When I got it I thought I will play it a bit and that's all but I find myself coming back to it every now and then like I said ''to chill''. The music is cozy and chill and overall I am pixel art lover so I enjoy it a lot. The story…

This game really gets you to focus in every move you do, which is something i often look for in games since i tent to always be overthinking. When i'm playing this game is like nothing else is happening. Not to mention the story is very relatable specially if you just moved out on your own. The game also provides a great level of coziness and…
