What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 94 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (134 of 155 positive).
Players praise the game's challenging yet fair precision platforming with generous checkpoints. [1][2][3] The retro pixel art style and soundtrack are widely appreciated for their charm and polish. [4][5][6] Some reviewers find the difficulty too high, especially in boss fights and certain mechanics. [7][8][9]

I gave up since it's harder than the game's description and some reviews suggest. I don't mind dying 10+ times on few occasions, but the boss on 2nd stage is simply too much for me. The game expects me to keep avoiding beams, while the boss has very short interval of being vulnerable. In addition, I frequently dying because the place outside of beam attack is very far from where my character currently stands. But …

It's a very ambitious game that feels fresh from start to finish thanks to the introduction of new mechanics through out the whole campaign. The level design is very good, each level feels very different than the previous one, even if the color pallet stays the same. And the collectibles placement introduces a fun, optional, extra challenge that is really well balanced. Most of the boss fights are great and very …

Really fun and challenging platformer. Feels like a nice mix of Celeste (great dash mechanic!), Super Meatboy and a little bit of 90's run and gun games. The retro art style is fantastic, nice chunky feel to it, and a great soundtrack. It is challenging, but the checkpointing seems pretty fair and restarts are almost instant so it never gets too frustrating, at least from what I've played so far. Definitely …

Planet Cube: Edge is proof that hit kill 2D platformers don't have to come with a lack of charm or creativity. Neither do they have to rely on frustrating tricks to deliver a satisfying challenge. Sunna Entertainment did a wonderful job crafting ten hours' worth of delightfully intense platforming as follows. Challenge variety cubed benefitting from unique mechanics Gameplay-wise, Edge is graced with fast movement …

I'm not normally a fan of twitchy/fast-reaction platformers, but the art style was so charming I thought it was worth a go and I'm having a great time! The gameplay does indeed require a lot of precision, but the check-pointing is so generous that failing never feels like a chore and you're always making forward progress, whilst still letting you enjoy those moments where you string things together perfectly. The …

I'll start by mentioning that the game style, category, and type of game of Planet Cube: Edge is among my favorites, so I might be a bit harsh on some of my comments, but it's because I have higher than usual expectations for this type of game. ---{ Graphics }--- ☐ You forget what reality is ☐ Beautiful ☑ Good ☐ Decent ☐ Bad ☐ Don‘t look too long at it ☐ MS-DOS Pro: Artwork is very pretty, pixel aesthetic…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game. Can be quite tough as a platformer and it does what it says on the tin: precision with some cool thrills! Personally I like the art style and it suits the game well and the music keeps pushing the action. If you are into your platforming scrollers, this is a game to check out!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's been a time since I played a worthy old school platformer. Planet Cube: Edge fills that void that those gamers who likes a challenge likes. It's visual style and endearing main character makes you want to play for hours wanting to achieve perfection of execution for every level. I´ll recommend using a controller for this game for a better experience if you are playing in PC.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well polished game, and it's from Costa Rica. This game is so hard and I like it. Reminds me of Rex rocket.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If Megaman, Celeste, and Super Meat Boy had a child it'd be Planet Cube Edge. My f-bombs per-minute are off the charts. I love it.

The story of the game is simple but we wanted to make it interesting to see, that means unique animations!!! I loved bringing life to each of the characters, there is some cool animation happening here is an explotion scene #gamedev #pixelart

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really good game! If you're a fan of platformers like Celeste or Super Meat Boy, you would be a fool to miss this one. Edit: Figured I'd do a quick update now that I've finished the game. It was wonderful! I loved every minute of it. The dev seems to have 3 more games planned in the series, so hopefully this isn't the end of the line for Planet Cube.

positive · AI labelView post →This is a very well-made and serious platformer. There are tons of challenges, puzzles, as well as top-notch boss fights. Not to be missed by any hardcore platformer fans.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very charming little game of a style I haven't played in ages. I booted it up and was instantly reminded of wonderful evenings playing Ocean titles (e.g. Batman, The Untouchables) on my C64 & ST but with better sound and graphics :) If I had to be critical of it I'd say some of the collision is a little unforgiving - for example it's possible to jump up the side of a wall and get killed by the base of a spike on the top of it or get killed by the side of a falling block but - overall…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a proper old school platformer which is difficult to master and even more difficult to put down. Maintains a nice distinctive visual style and is highly polished. Works great on deck, reminds me of Super Meat Boy, League of Evil etc although not as brutal at the moment.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're into platformers and want a true challenge to make you want to break a few controllers, this is the game for you. Its hard, cute and fun. I haven't been able to pass any level without dying at least 50 times. Hope others can proof it can be done better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →gorgeous pixel art and a terrific soundtrack, but this is a rage game by virtue of its bad design and obnoxious controls. so many early moments will just end up resulting in deaths because it is too tedious to do what the game wants you to do for its collectables. one of the more annoying aspects I swiftly noticed is that the rooms don't reset to the same state as they were when you initially entered them--meaning that you cannot get locked into a groove until you learn the ropes of their…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game reminded me of playing NES games back when I was a kid...although the checkpoints in this game are actually forgiving lol That was the last time I played a platformer and I wouldn't have any other game be my re-introduction to the genre. The movement of the character is smooth and quick. The levels increase in difficulty but gradually introduce the player to the different controls and features in a way that is not intrusive or obvious. You learn from playing. You also learn from dying…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good story, good tight game play, challenging but yet never to the point where it is frustrating and I want to turn it off. ( mostly lol ) good job
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyed it. Appreciated that it didn't, even at the final boss, go "we're going to make this frustrating by making you start the whole boss battle from phase 1 when you die". Difficulty level was hard but not stupidly frustrating hard, except for one section which I found near-impossible using a controller, and not bad at all when I switched to keyboard controls; it needed a lot of fast "down-diagonal" jumps, and with a controller it was 50:50 on getting that or "straight down so missing the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quick Description: -This game looks great visually, has a really slick soundtrack, and is a nice blend of retro and modern gaming sensibilities. I typically love these type of games. At it's core, this game is a precision platformer w/ some light action platformer elements thrown in there. I'm extremely familiar w/ these fast paced, high difficulty curve games. I played this game for less than 90 minutes, and I found it extremely brutal. The ground slam becomes a major part of both the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a big fan of @sunnastudio.bsky.social and their previous game Planet Cube Edge, so I figure I'd throw Chroma into the #GunnyAscendContest! Chroma can turn many different colors, but only the blue one is in my game right now! #indiedev
neutral · AI labelView post →Broken achievements (they work in-game but not on Steam), awkward diagonal movements using a controller in a highly precise platformer. I can't recommend playing this in its current state.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice game. Addictive and difficult levels. Nice graphics retro-like. I have spent a lot of time having fun. Highly recommended to anyone. Congrats to its developers
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR if u like games BUY THIS GAME kthnx x3 Run n' Gun shooty shooty bang bang die-a-lot experience from your childhood brought to the modern gaming scene! gameplay is tight, platforing is challenging (but very forgiving!), checkpoints are abundant for ease of deleting self-loathing, and THE CHARACTERS ARE SO FRIGGIDDY WIDDING CUTE! Yaas queen, sleigh. BTW, I did a challenge where I did a burpee (1 pushup, 1 jumping jack) every time, EVERY TIME i died. I died over 200 times in the first 2…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like the art style. It's like a Gameboy on steroids! Gameplay-wise it feels like Super meatboy with guns. That is to say its a side-on precision platformer, and you will die a LOT! Thankfully checkpoints are always very close to where you die, so there isn't large amounts of re-treading. Sme exceptions to this are for end of level challenge-like elements where you often need to put all you have practised into a race-like moment against an enemy. These can be quite difficult as you need to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So our game Planet Cube: Edge is currently on sale for the Steam Summer Sale! If you like fun, fast 2d run n' gun and precision platforming with very neat pixel art. #GameDev #Games https://store.steampowered.com/app/791200/Planet_Cube_Edge/
neutral · AI labelView post →What a fun, fast paced precision action platformer with some combat elements. Excellent and engaging level design, a difficult game that you will die a lot in but with forgiving checkpoints. I recommend turning on the death counter. The music is pretty nice and the art style is fantastic. Overall a wonderful experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and polished game with gorgeous pixel art! I've beaten the first two levels and have been enjoying it so far - I would describe it as a mix of Megaman and a precision platformer (from the way the bonus items behave I can tell the devs were inspired a bit by Celeste ;) ). There's a lot of platformers out there but it sets itself apart with some pretty creative set pieces, like one where trains periodically rush past the screen and you have to make sure you're in a safe place when it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an absolutely delightful platformer. The graphics are beautiful and evoke a classic 8-bit style brought into the modern era, making it feel fresh and unique. It's pretty challenging (the collectibles even more so), but it makes it all the more rewarding when you manage to get it right. Checkpoints are very forgiving, so you don't have to keep repeating long sequences when you make a mistake. The music is great too and complements the gameplay perfectly. The dialogue is funny and the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished the game and it was worth every penny! You'll come across a clever precision platformer that boasts a beautiful retro aesthetic and addictive gameplay. The animations, music, and boss levels are definitely the game's high points. If you are someone who prioritizes a strong narrative, you may find it lacking, but apart from that, the game is impeccable. So, it's definitely worth giving it a try!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Properly challenging pixel-art platformer that moves along at a cracking pace. Some tricky levels to negotiate, so I have died a lot already! The game keeps me hooked though with a very fast post-death return to play and enough little bursts of euphoria when I do manage to get to the next stage. The distinctive graphics & colour scheme also appeal to me. Overall...recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Im not really a platformer fan BUT this game could make me change my mind. It is so addictive and satisfying that I actually had fun. After you complete an area is highest of highs. If you love the genre you will absolutely enjoy it and if youre not, I guarantee youre still going to have a great time just like I did :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm now waiting for the sequel!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, all I can say is: I love this game. I'm an old man and I really missed playing a game like this, old school type. Love the music, the challenges and the story. I'll definitely spend a lot of hours playing it. I started playing it with my keyboard but then switched to a controller, much better and smoother experience with the controller for sure. Congrats on such a great game!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is such a challenge. I can beat it but i just dont want to anymore. Every game nowadays gotta be a challenge with people jeez
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow this was a really great platformer. Its tough but doable and very fair with checkpoints. The extra collectibles were difficult but so fun to try to grab and there is a mode that lets you go back to look for missed collectibles. The controls are tight and the level design is very fun and not repetitive. Bosses were very cool and interesting uses of mechanics too. Im always on the lookout for cool platformers to try out, I saw this played a while back at https://www.twitch.tv/thabeast721…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good until the underwater stages come in and it just gets too hard, couple that with some bugs that result in cheap deaths, and it becomes more frustrating than challenging. Too bad. Maybe the dev will patch it, but the real solution would be redesign those sections, they're just AWFUL.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →absolutely fantastic game, excellent graphicdesign and an outstanding soundtrack. i can't recommend enough this soundtrack! worth every single cent, thanks to the team for this treasure!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun! Even thought I died like 1000 times.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have nothing but good things to say about this game. The style is great, a very retro vibe and a classic game boy palette top it off. The music is great, I hadn't even pressed start yet and there was already a great tune, and the whole game was full of them. The gameplay is great, you can feel the influence of games like Mega Man and Celeste, but it still has its own personality. The difficulty is good, there's a good challenge and there are also higher difficulties for those wanting more.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Reminds me of playing the GameBoy, making me feel warm and fuzzy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a great game, a lot of pop culture references and homage to other older platformers. The collectibles are not hidden and easily available, but an absolute nightmare to collect some of them. 100% worth it tho. And the bosses are challenging, but gives you a sense of accomplishment. Square game good, 10/10 "Ojalá"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is one of the best looking game I've seen for a while. If you want a challenge with rewarding and interesting platform challenges. This game is for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brilliant mid-core platformer; the running and jumping feel really smooth, and the difficulty level feels just hard enough to be challenging, but not as impossible as some others. Recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →runs in proton (I know not everyone's going to care about that, but it's a plus for me) challenging in a good way, even with a controller (I haven't tried using a keyboard, that may add another layer of challenge) I thought the gameplay GIF was sped up, but it can be that fast, though I think it'll require a lot of practice to move that fast precisely, as you die from a single hit this reminded me a bit of the path of pain from Hollow Knight, but the jumps are not as floaty
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super fun and challening platformer game! Really loved the art music and the controls feel amazing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →wow the game was well crafted, run smoothly and without issues so far. As described, pretty difficult xD but the checkpoints are positioned smartly. Just fought against the first boss and yeah... died too many times. Nice game :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A love letter to plataformers. TIGHT controls and fun gameplay. OST is insanely good! And a fun story to follow. So glad games like this are being made, massive congrats to the developer team! We have to stop the invasion!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game mechanics, controls, graphics 10/10 A refreshing challenge, I love that the cube re-spawns close to where you die so you don't have to do the whole level over again. Super addictive alternative approach to traditional precision platformers and the collectables add extra layers of enjoyment. Have to admit the controls are a tad more forgiving on the Nintendo Switch but the game play is still brilliant on PC. Love it! :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful looking game and wow is it hard. this is the speed running community wet dream product!! not far in but what ive realised is that i am not as good at games as i thought i was. controls are great, visuals superb, lot the super fast respawn. i thikn i might have to get this on switch too as i think its going to be best for me on that as i dont have a steam deck
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is hard to get good-feeling platformer controls. It is also hard to get a constant and pleasant visual art style for the entire game. Planet Cube: Edge haves what a platformer needs to be good. Good mechanics, interesting lore, apealing original style. From the menus to the actual gameplay, all aspects of the game were tooked carefully. Truly worth playing!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a pretty fast paced platformer game with a cute retro style, it's one of those games that you can play when you have some time to kill and is very forgiving with invisible checkpoints, which is nice because you will die a lot The precision it asks for can sometimes be pretty damning since in some areas where you need to be fast it doesn't even give you a second of leeway, which can make it difficult to get through the area, especially if you need to shoot some buttons because the pistol…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really well-made precision platformer for those who enjoy their Mario to the max! It's clear that the devs have poured a lot of love into making this and that's reflected in the quality of the result. There's a wealth of gorgeous retro-audio and visuals to accompany the well-designed levels and set-pieces in the game. It's definitely not for the feint-hearted though - I'm only half-an-hour in at this point and I've already earned the "Die 100 Times" achievement, so be prepared!…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finished it, well realized game, complete, stages are always different with new stuff, it's a die & retry game but with puzzles! Not my kind but for people who like this kind, they may like this one!
