Total War across the stars. Recommended If you want an RTS that actually feels "galactic" in scale, Planetary Annihilation: TITANS is still in a league of its own. In 2026, it remains the only game where you can build an army on one planet, launch it to another via orbital landers, and—if things go south—literally strap engines to a moon and smash it into your opponent’s face. Why it’s still essential: Scale without …

Silly gaming question: examples of games with way better soundtracks than they deserve. Not, like, a good soundtrack on a game yo bounced off of that was a big success - a game that was mid or bad, by consensus, with a solid musical score. This review covers the entire ecosystem of this developer across all three of their games: the original Planetary Annihilation and its standalone expansion TITANS, which I own, and their latest early access title, Industrial Annihilation, which I do not own. Looking at their history, it is clear that buying into this studio means funding a revolving door of corporate entities rather than a finished product. Led by a persistent core of industry executives operating sequentially as Uber…

Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, 18 years old titan and still the greatest strategy game of it's kind. Yes it hurt looking up how old this game is already. But to those who don't know it: why is this game so great? 1. Because it's lineage (from Total Annihilation to Beyond All Reason) is the only militaristic sci-fi strategy game I know, where it's really a resource flow: you generate them, store them and then use them. You have an upper limit of depot space, so you can't just hoard…

I Have been playing this with my son for 11 years, 1500 hours clocked. I am in my 50s he is in his 20s. We have had so much fun. Each new release adds and modernizes. Each release balances. There is an active mod community. This is a constantly evolving game that is perfect for the strategy seeker. Not only is this a fun game to play single player VS computer (which has a lot of specialized difficulty tiers) it is has options for co-op and PVP ranked plus a new Galactic War (which I have not…

Honestly, for now just play Beyond All Reason. It's a better game, and it's free. This game has a ton of technical debt right now, and Beyond All Reason runs better for both multiplayer and singleplayer. Not to mention, this game is borked on Linux if you use Wayland due to the web UI. It should still work if you're on XORG. They do have a new technical team that is actively working on the game, and this review is subject to change once it becomes playable.

Has a lot of potential. But even now in 2026, pathing issues ruin games. You'll have larger units getting hung up on terrain features and costing you matches. Not worth the headache. Game also bogs down, even if you have a capable gaming rig.

Game has been largely abandoned by the developers as far as I'm aware. Shame because this is genuinely one of the coolest RTS games I've ever had the pleasure of playing. If you're looking for a different rts that follows the TA formula then look no further than Zero-K and Beyond all reason, with the former being a little more experimental and a guilty pleasure of mine and the latter being essentially a modernized TA visually and gameplay-wise (Did I mention both are free too?)…

It is weird to see people obsess over the price of a new release AAA game when the classics tend to be better made, less buggy, have a bigger mod community, and much lower specs. Go back and play the Halo series. The opening scene of the first game still gives me chills. Play Portal. And then play Portal 2. Check out some old school RTS titles. Planetary Annihilation is a reworking of the old Total Annihilation game and absolutely stands up. Go try some indies - Blue Prince or Slay the…

I used to enjoy this game, and I used to recommend it. But after the last update, it is completely multiplayer-online oriented. I always play single-player games, but now it pushes online play and chat. You can only opt out of the chat, but the chat bar stays in the right corner. You can't remove it. Also, once you've chosen a galaxy, every time a planet loads, you get an option to opt in to online players—on every planet. I can't recommend this game anymore because opting out of all the…

Very good grand-scale RTS in the style of Total Annihilation/Supreme Commander. It is currently being developed by the community, so there are still new features being added, and the balance is robust. The game is fast paced, most games will last less than 15 minutes, so you decide if you are into that or not. However, the barrier to entry in this game is much lower than in other games like this, because there are only 2 tiers of units + titans, and there is only 1 faction, so it's easy to…

Played this game with a buddy. Having my best run yet. excess metal and energy. figured out both enemy commanders were on another planet. getting ready to go through a portal to get them both... planet we are on blows up out of nowhere. me and my buddy are confused as hell, we look at the replay and both our planet and the enemy planet collided because they are on the same path just heading towards one another slowly. game ends in a draw. The S in RTS stands for strategy. This games seems to have forgotten that. Original PA was pretty fun but with orbitals and titans you can fall back to the strategy of spamming a single unit and winning every engagement. Defense buildings are a joke, especially when you can spam send orbital ships to any point in a planet, so the only counter is to also start spamming the same unit yourself. The Titans expansion ruined this game.

Would be an okay RTS if it weren't coming from the guy that made supreme commander. A ton of QoL that was in Sup Com is missing from here such as the ability to adjust queued orders. Other features from Sup Com were implemented but poorly such as zooming way out and double-clicking on a unit to select all of that type on screen.
