After playing the sequel to this game — which was absolutely brilliant! — I was excited to play the first game in the series. I knew it wasn't the same type of game as Please Touch The Artwork 2 but I didn't really know exactly how they were different. The game consists of three separate sections, which are basically small 40-ish minute puzzle games of their own, and will be the main deciding factor for most people on whether the game is fun, or not, so this review will be split into three to give them their own short reviews: 1. After playing Please, Touch The Artwork, there are two things I’m certain of: 1: I’m absolutely terrible at it. 2: It’s stunning, especially if you're a fan of abstract art. The game draws heavy inspiration from the works of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, and it’s easy to see why. Please Touch the Artwork 2 This is such a beautiful little hidden object game! You help a painter back to his painting, all while helping a few of the subjects of others and fixing tears in canvases. Most of the paintings are the work of James Ensor, and they are incredibly unique.

It is a decent puzzle game, but one of these two games should have been given a different title. This game is strictly puzzles while the """sequel""" is a hidden object game and the only similarity between the two is the concept of interacting with artwork. It seems like a deceptive attempt to use the popularity of the free sequel to trick fans into buying this other game that is completely different. The gameplay of each mode is good up to a certain point, then it is just too difficult…

I can appreciate Please, Touch the Artwork as an ambitious & unique take on an "art game" in several senses of the word, but I found it unsatisfying as a puzzle game. The game consists of three separate games (art galleries), one of which is pure busywork (the New York City maze), one of which is partly guesswork (Boogie Woogie), and one of which is a decent puzzle game (The Style, a gallery about abstract art). So from the start I only really enjoyed one third of the overall game, and even…

The idea is nice, but the overall game is repetitive & dull. Far too many levels with hardly any change in game play & no change in color options make every level feel the same. This would be best as a mobile game to kill time on a public commute rather than something to actively sit down & focus on. Only buy this if it is on sale for $5 or less (50% off or greater). Not worth the full price.

One of the my favorite free games of 2024 was Please, Touch the Artwork 2. A surrealist hidden object game featuring the paintings of James Ensor. With the original Please, Touch the Artwork the classic works are replaced with modern geometric works and the game functions as a no frills puzzle game. The game is made up of 3 galleries, with the New York gallery being the strongest in terms of overall gameplay and vibe. The other two galleries are more challenging and at the same time feel…

This game has 3 different kinds of activities (I struggle to call them puzzles) inspired by Mondrian 's paintings. First one is color flipping and it is actually pretty good puzzle. The second one is not much of a puzzle and in the later levels it's more of "guess which one is the right sqare to click". The third one is not a puzzle and it's barely a game. It's... an activity? Basically Snake but with nothing in it. I like how it is made, I like the style of it, I like how it gives life to…

For $2-3 dollars I would recommend it but not much more Pros Well developed - feels professional Main Mondrian puzzles Cons - In the harder levels, without lines it's damn near impossible to remember what the shape of the tile is. To get under par you will have to mess up a lot just trying to remember where all of the tiles are and where to click. I suppose that's the point, but it just feels cheap. - Gameplay gets tedious quickly - The WASD puzzle felt like an unnecessary grind with…

This game felt more like a punishment than a challenging puzzle for me. Like many others, I came here after playing Please, Touch The Artwork 2 and likewise, I couldn’t help but ask—what happened here? Like, why did I buy this? I picked this up because I played the second game first (it's free) and liked it. Overall, it's a fun puzzler and it was cool to see how he found a way to turn some artwork into a playable and challenging game. It's divided into three puzzle types, a pattern match, a pathfinder, and one that's like rolling a marble down the hill and seeing where it ends up, with a bit more challenge of course. They're all very different with unique moods. Very well done.

I usually love puzzle games and I really wanted to love this, too. Unfortunately, things just didn't click for me and this felt more frustrating than calming. I feel like the game would benefit from normal and challenge modes. As it stands, the level randomisation and having hints/undo count towards total moves feels punishing in a game that... isn't meant to be.

Recently there has been a rise in games that are more compilations than single works of creation. Things like the Dread X Collection show that there's a lot of value to be found in a taster menu approach to indie games. It's a trend I've been happy to see, as many genres benefit greatly from brevity (particularly horror) but at the same time need to provide players with enough of a value proposition to justify their purchase. Applying this approach to a puzzle game instead is, on paper, a…

Very VERY silly puzzle game, that you should play when you want to do something funny but challenging. The three galleries are very different in terms of difficulty, but each had its merits if you ask me. NYC is kind of relaxing and doesn't require much thought, the Style is very challenging (and pretty cool to learn some more about the art style), and Boogie Woogie was just plain silly and in the middle in terms of difficulty, with some room for trial and error. It's actually 3 games in 1, all in Mondrian style artworks. The Style - The goal in this game is matching the Mondrian artwork on the left.. however the colors fill at the adjacent squares you click and come at a fixed order. You sometimes have to draw the lines too. Every 5 puzzles or so the mechanics slightly change and it’ll get tough in the end. Fortunately you can get free hints. Boogie Woogie - These puzzles are also Mondrian paintings but the goal here is to click the correct sequence…
