In a 2023 interview, cartoonist and animation producer ND Stevenson said he connected with gay male designers in the series and with Tim Gunn, calling the series the first time he "understood what being gay was", even though it was some time before this came to "any kind of fruition" or before he saw himself in "gay people on TV...gay characters in media."

The current season is a packed festival of bad producing decisions.
