What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 116 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (119 of 147 positive).
Players praise the fluid platforming and dash mechanics, calling them satisfying and smooth. [1][2][3] Many note the lack of a settings menu, missing options for display, sound, and controls. [4][5][6] Some reviewers criticize repetitive level design and long stages with reused assets. [7][8][9]

backer here, was very excited to play a 3D Megaman X inspired platformer. What I got is very uninspired with areas that all look the same, a lack of accessibility in options, WAY too many cutscenes that go on forever with bad dialogue and worse voice acting, and worst of all flawed gameplay. Limiting the charge shot behind an energy meter wouldn't be a deathblow for this game if enemy placement wasn't such that it …

I'm going to keep the original parts of this review the same so future players will know the update history. Having spent more time in the game, I do admit the levels can be a bit similar. Each level is made of 90% of the same platforms and 10% level specific stuff. The core moveset is still fun, but some people will be underwhelmed by the level design. Edit 2: Save files have been added. Edit 1: An options menu was …

Disclaimer: I did back the kickstarter and as such I do not remember exactly how much i bought this for originally. So I am a big Mega man fan of all the games, but I have to admit that the X series was the one I slept on the most having only beaten one and 4 and playing only a few levels of 5 and 6. Knowing that though, I still was excited for this game because it was originally being developed by solo dev who was …

Real smooth platforming, I get disoriented on 3d platformers real easily, and outside of a few places here and there, don't have any issues. The controls are smooth and dashing around is a joy. Story and plot are perfectly sufficient, no worse, and in a lot of ways, better than most Mega Man plots. Art and character design is really pretty and stylish. Levels are more functional than artistic, but they provide for …

It's a cryin' shame that this game doesn't have a Settings menu. My GPU heats up like crazy when I'm playing this. As someone who backed this on Kickstarter to a very successful launch, I am very disappointed that this doesn't have the bare minimum of features found in other games. Still, I can't deny the passion in this. It's rare to have a game this vibrant and full of soul and love for its source material. If the …

I think it can largely be credited to *Ratchet & Clank* for trendsetting and inspiring all the rest (even *Jak 2* had used some of *Ratchet*'s code after *Jak and Daxter [1]: The Precursor Legacy* didnt have any weapons). There are some older games that might have inspired *Ratchet & Clank*, such as *Blasto*, which…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full disclosure, I backed this game on kickstarter. I played this game for about 2 hours and I don't recommend it. I don't like the lack of accessibility options this game gives you and the framerate drops a lot for me. I can see it's a good game, but it has so many problems with it that I say wait for a price drop. A 5/10 for me personally.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to love this game and I feel ungrateful that I was bored through all of it. The prospect of a 3D MegaMan X inspired game is pretty amazing and something I crave. The core loop, combat mechanics and the controls are fantastic and when I started playing I had fun... for the first 15 minutes. Unfortunately how the story is told kills the pacing and enthusiasm I had to progress that I had to force myself to keep going and the characters are just not interesting, it reminded me of how…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, it's a good game, but some can be improved and polished. Pros - Platforming is fun and thoroughly thought out - Fully voiced lines - The control is snappy and responsive Cons - Lack of settings (display, graphics, sound, control, etc.) - The level is very long - Weird camera control - Sudden cut into the conversation in the middle of gameplay (Megaman X5, 6 style) - Only one save file is available
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excuse me for not being a Mega Man X7 master but...oof The short of it is the game is way too difficult. A majority of the levels are precision platforming. The enemy behavior is way too aggressive. Some enemies take more than half your life bar in a single shot, Enemy usage is also terrible. There are enemies that can suck you into an area, and they are almost always placed 2 at a time, making it so you can't even move. Yet, there are also cases where the homing melee enemies are placed right…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I refunded after 5 minutes. No graphics options, no option to rebind controls, bad voice acting, and bad writing. Also, dash was bound to a face button. After it crashed in the first 5 minutes, I just decided it was not worth my $20.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool game! I think the price is right, and being a dude that runs out of patience with games very fast, I find myself wondering what obstacles and puzzles will come next. The art style, while not my first choice... is easy to see whats going on and I have to say it grew on me pretty fast. If you are into the color Purple and Pink, you will not be dissapointed. One note, for some reason this game has NO settings menu?!? Generally in instantly go into a game and turn the music off. Also…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A little backstory before the review. A few years back when SAGE rolled around, I found this game called Mega Man X - Training Missions. It was a super simplistic albeit really fun tech demo for a 3d Mega Man X game. Fast forward a few years and I just finished beating X7. After craving a 3d MMX game that's actually good, that tech demo suddenly popped into my mind, and after a quick playthrough I went back to the Gamejolt page to see if the guy who made it had a social media. A few clicks…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After I left, I've been meaning to work on meaningful projects with black/african gamedevs such as Twin Drums on The Wagadu Chronicles & Protodroid Delta. These are some projects by us and for us that really help change the game for black representation.
neutral · AI labelView post →Honestly just bad. Stages have no identity and are comprised of "shape that can hurt you" style obstacles, and fighting enemies is pointless when you can just dash and jump past. Wants to be Mega Man X7, ends up being Mega Wank X7.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dash is locked behind a cool down. The idea is to dash jump. Stay in the air long enough, for when you hit the ground the cool down will be done by the time you hit the ground. This is a bizzare design choice. It adds nothing to the gameplay. It only takes away from this game truly being a 3D megaman x. The game refers to it as hidden tech. But it's needless and does nothing but hinder the overall feel and flow. If there was no cool down. It would feel infinitely better. There is no wall…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honest Opinion from a Mega Man Fan with Experience in the Franchise As someone who grew up playing various titles from the Mega Man series, I was excited to see the idea of a 3D game inspired by the franchise — especially one that aimed to capture the essence of a “Mega Man-like” experience. Unfortunately, the game fails in several crucial aspects, which is a shame, because there are some good ideas here. At first, I thought it would be influenced by Mega Man X and Legends, but later I found…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Complete and total scam game. promises much more than what it is. heavily over priced for how short it is. tribute armor DLC is a total scam too. their webpage claims tribute armors give extra abilities and stats but the developer states in a thread on steam community that the tribute armor does nothing they are just skins. its claiming to be a copy of megaman x but lacks most the mechanics megaman x is known for. Riddled with terrible bugs the developers are claiming to be intended…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended but it's special, its more like an obstacle course (kind of) where you have to dodge and shoot a lot of stuff while you jump to not fall in a pit but it's pretty fun and challenging, trying to speedrun some parts is cool! Not like Megaman X but there is some elements like the armor skin bonus and the special cannon who can use the weapon of the boss you defeat, be sure to check some videos to know the gameplay. I had fun with beating the stages and boss! The game is not too…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is, in its current state, alright. Not good, not bad, just "alright". Maybe it could've used a bit more development time to give it some polish. I haven't played too much of it, but I've played enough to form a few opinions about what things it needs, and what other things could make it better. So, without further ado: Things this game needs: 1: Proper control remapping. The ability to swap the dash and shoot buttons is a helpful option, sure, but it would be more useful if all…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very by the numbers, nothing original going on, good if you really really want a 3D Mega Man X again, but if you just want *any* Mega Man X fix and are okay with roguelikes, just play 20XX or 30XX. This game just doesn't do anything original, it isn't even that polished, has nothing that seperates itself from just being a MMX clone... Still better than X7 by a mile though
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →30 minutes in and it's already more satisfying than any of the recent AAA games. It's like a sequel to Bungie's Oni, the anime-infused melee gunplay genre that should have taken off 20 years ago. THIS is what I want more of!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a true testimony to one person's commitment and sacrifice to see a dream fulfilled. The gameplay is fluid, enjoyable and challenging. I appreciate the callbacks to previous Mega Man games. Overall this has been an enjoyable experience and look forward to see how the game wraps up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay is solid and challenging. Shooting is a little bit awkward. Enemies and environment are basic but well crafted. Dash jump mechanic just AMAZING!! The game is fantastic. Wish you best of luck!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A swing and a partial hit. The game has some of the feel of 3D megaman games but is only somewhat faithful to the quality. So the positives are the boss fights are good, the game has a decent difficulty level, and the platforming has novel new obstacles and layouts that keep it fresh. The story is whatever, more about humans and robots, blah blah. The platforming is usually tight but you will regularly get your jumps eaten while dashing or running towards/off the edge which is very…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great game! It's uplifting and fun. The platforming is difficult, but engaging. The aesthetics are bright, without being excessively childish. Plays like a 3D Super Mario game, but with a more Mega Man-like player character. Levels are long, but with checkpoints that are extremely satisfying to reach! Items help as well, and you can buy them with the coins you collect in the levels. The story is really pulling me in as well. And it's exciting to see such a diverse, underrepresented…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a backer of this Kickstarter project and I'm happy to see this game has finally made it's way to the public for all to play. It was a sad day when I realized we wouldn't be getting anymore Megaman X Games after 8 released. This game makes up for that loss we all suffered and I have to say I am really enjoying this game! Controls are fluid, Story is pretty good, Combat is fun, Music is very good and it has secret stages hidden throughout the levels. This is a huge step up from the demo I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's pretty good. Solid platforming, but lousy power ups for defeating bosses. Bland dialogue, but good voice acting. If you want a substitute for MegaMan legends, this is your game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I backed this game and I'm happy that I did, but it definitely lacks on the basic optimization settings options and it needs to be polished, the platform's movements sometimes are not in sync so sometimes the timing can get really infuriating and there are some platforms that I find my character phase through and fall through them. I can see the potential of this game I just wish that it was a bit more polished. I don't want to be too harsh on an indie title but at it current state I'd advise…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game wears its Mega Man X inspirations on its sleeve, and I love it. Where X7 failed to bring the series into 3D, Protodroid DeLTA found the secret sauce needed for this style of gameplay to work in 3D: Keeping you on your toes. You have to keep a constant awareness around you in order to progress. You may even pick up on patterns through the levels that give you an idea of what to keep an eye out for and prepare accordingly, but that also means there's a possibility of it becoming…

neutral · AI labelView post →Underloved Gem I'm not a Mega Man fan, but I recently got into the series, played a bit of Dive/Offfline and felt like trying this out. I've had a great time with it! DeLTA's a wonderful protagonist, cool and adorable in equal measure, the levels hit just the right balance of challenging and tacklable, the collectable hunting kept me engaged throughout... fun boss fights, great VA, this was just a strong package on all fronts. Give it a try!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So...why aren't more people talking about this game now? I only have a little time with it so far and it definitely more than a little rough around the edges, but this is a solidly fun game with a lot of love for Megaman X. Like it plays like if MegaMan X would if it had always been in 3D and it plays fairly well overall. Like I'm rarely frustrated with the controls. What I'm saying is if you wanna scratch that Mega Man X itch and got some cash to burn I would recommend this for a pretty damn…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After finishing, I can say this game is like a great tasting steak, but the levels are so long with inconsistent reading as to what is actually the end to a boss or just another area that it feels you've been chewing on that great steak for a REALLY long time until your jaw is tired.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was a very enjoyable game. Great to see a game that is a good homage to the Megaman series. It also stands on it's own and i hope that there will be dlc or atleast a sequel to see more of the world and characters. I highly suggest people check out the demo and maybe get the full game for themselves.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I saw Reploid Revo's review, and I agree with what was said in the video, and after playing the game for myself, it just feels like an early access game, and not worth the $20 that are currently being asked for on Steam, I also do not appreciate the fact that the game has only been out for a few months, and they already have a limited time skin that you can no longer acquire, which is the "charity limited time Command Mission armor", to me that just feels like a big slap in the face for people…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The stages are really long. This would normally be a setback, but there's four and not eight so you're definitely getting your money's worth. Dr. Shelton is also awesome, I'd hang out with her.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THIS IS LITERALLY A LOVE LETTER TO ALLLLL MEGA MAN FANS! GREAT CHARACTERS, GREAT STORY, GREAT MUSIC, GREAT REFERENCES, GREAT INCLUSION AND GREAT ORIGINALITY! PLAY!! THIS!!! GAME!!!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally a good 3D X game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fine. Nothing too fancy, but it's got pretty solid level design and the controls mostly feel fine. The platforming can feel a tad slippery at times, but that's usually the case for 3D platformers. Definitely worth a look if you enjoy the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid game if you're hungry for some 3D Megaman. + level design is excellent and have some fun platforming that feels like Super Mario 3D. + funny and charming characters / dialogue - Some enemies can be bit annoying to fight and charged shots are limited. PS: don't try to play like X that just shoot, pretend you're more like Zero. The combat heavily actually reward meleeing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's good so far! It plays like a 3D Mega Man X, but unlike the 3D segments of X7, Protodroid DeLTA is fast and controls well. Also it runs real well on the Steam Deck.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, I want to say off the bat, about a 6 or 7 out of 10. I did enjoy my time with the game. It does have the fundamentals down. That said, I do think it stumbles over it's self a fair amount, and there's some things I think could be improved upon. To be clear, this review is more-so about being constructive criticism for the dev. 1: The Stages I think that for the most part, the stages are a little samey. A lot of reused assets for platforms, obstacles, and enemies. Very few unique stage…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wamen-Power Diversity-Hire Megaman X can sum this up. Gameplay is somewhat solid though. Still better than Megaman X7. Voice acting is better than X4 or MM8, but definitely nowhere near what i'd consider professional, but *♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥* the professor is the most stereotypical sassy black woman stereotype i've ever seen, hot DAMN it's bad. XDD The Tribute Armors are mostly okay, but the Zero one looks really meh at best, the braided pony-tail doesn't really fit that well, but that's just me being…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than any other megaman style game i have played since the originals. Has the challenge to it, the style, the feel. Plus it is 3D, which I haven't seen done ever. If it keeps up gameplay like this I would love to see more. Totally worth backing it on kickstarter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have no idea how to feel about this game. The lack of settings definitely confused me, especially after the recent trend of a lot of games not allowing you to access settings on launch, so seeing nothing there was baffling. Then I realized the game had no settings period which was even weirder. This is obviously being a issue since it's making some folk's computers heat up due to not being able to change things, sometimes turning some computers into jet engines. I have to wonder what went on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have you ever wondered what audiences felt when they played MegaMan 1 for the first time back on the NES? That's the vibe I get with this game. The core gameplay is fantastic, the music is excellent, the story(so far, I'm only past one boss at time of writing) is interesting, even if the way it's told is less than ideal, and the graphics are solid. The CORE is good. Like, REALLY good. Others say it's like MegaMan X in 3D done right, and I think that's accurate. It's tight but fluid, with an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A spiritual successor to Mega Man X that goes in 3D, but without being BS about it. I've only played the intro so far to get a feel for the game, and so far it's got a lot of promise! Having an old computer, I wish there were settings I could lower to get a smoother framerate, but beyond that I haven't run into any issues. Looking forward to the rest.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[Not a backer, But I followed this game from when it was about 75% completed] The game, was rough around the edges. a lot of small bugs that are not game breaking, just a bit annoying. in summary, game was fun! they did very good with the save function cause for someone that works it makes it easier to just jump back on and play again. i dont recommend stopping right before a boss fight cause youll have to remember the controls if you leave it for more than a week! lol $17 the sweet spot for…

neutral · AI labelView post →some of the enemy placement can feel a little unfair, but overall it's an enjoyable game that wears it's megaman x inspiration on it's sleeve in the best kind of way. My only real gripe is that the weapons you get from defeating each boss feel like the consume to much energy to make it worth it to use them, even with a maxed out energy tank upgrade.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Protodroid Delta is punishment. The delightful kind. Delta is a cute savage. Her world is equally colorful and dangerous. Characters are imaginitive and unique. This game is everything one would expect a 3D megaman game to be that we never got. Obstacles are combined with enemy threats elegantly also. So far there was a level design error on the desert stages. It's a platform that does not return after it takes off. You basically have to intentionally fall off to reset it if you miss the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is pretty beefy despite what looks like only 4 stages. I spent roughly ~90 minutes just on one stage alone due to the sheer length. The game does have it so that you start at the check points so if you need to close out your progress isn't lost. Control-wise this is pretty damn solid, you can remap the buttons to something that feels a bit more comfortable and the overall flow is extremely satisfying. Movement is perfect, the speed and control is just right where you can get a good pace…
