I pretty much only play turn-based games. I love challenging games. I'm old school and played games when you had to read manuals and stuff to even get started. I have a lot to say about this game. I will lead with the bad because there’s really only one major issue with this game, but it’s a doozy: Quasimorph has deep and complex mechanics, but it does a TERRIBLE job at explaining them to the player. Game knowledge is the difference between feeling frustration and helplessness and control and understanding but if you rely solely on the information that the game provides, …

loved the game at the start but every update that comes out it feels like the game is punishing you for interacting with its systems, to even attempt a story mission you'll have to run like 50 normal missions collecting the best possible gear and as many meds as you can, usually just to get stun locked to death and in the rare occasion you aren't? well mid and late game you need to have top tier armor for every faction, day dream chems? better have armor you can only get via working for...day…

Game advertises itself as a game about a space PMC working for corps while demons are rampaging across the system. In practice you are a gearless augmented psychopath who goes into someones private domicile and proceeds to rip and tear your way through while scrapping anything deemed useless and cutting chunks out of corpses for augments more valuable than your own. You die fast, lose everything, and its very unforgiving until you clammer your way to success by brute force alone. Would…

The idea and premise for the game is great, and i love it. However the game as it is currently is extremely poorly balanced. I find myself curbstomping regular enemies by the dozens most of the time, and they can't really pose a threat to me due to how i build my character to be extremely tanky and wearing exclusively heavy armor. Why do i build my character like that? Because on the rare occasion that i'm not massacring waves of regular enemies, one with a gimmick gun will show up, usually…

As much as I want to love this game (I even bought the supporter pack, since the OST is great), it's unfortunately way too difficult and volatile, even after enabling free repairs. In Quasimoph, you get a free grace period of easy missions (which is an option that can be disabled) at the start, where you would feel like you can understand the game and enjoy it. Once this period ends, constant deaths start, due to missions making a jump from ~900 power and 1 skull missions to almost always…

In short: the game loop is fun. The true suffering is learning the game and its mechanics. Quasimorph is great, and I enjoyed it to the point where I somehow spent 250+ hours playing it. But there are a few grains of salt. First of all, my deepest respect to whoever composed the soundtrack. It is genuinely amazing. Quasimorph is one of those games that looks much deeper than it actually is. After the initial novelty wears off, the whole experience becomes incredibly shallow and repetitive. It feels like most missions boil down to doing essentially the same thing over and over with slightly different enemies and locations. The difficulty is inconsistent. During a mission the difficulty seems manageable until a bunch of enemies you cant kill mob you and one shot you. It does not feel like a natural…

I bought Quasimorph two years ago and ended up refunding it. It had too little inventory space, an annoying hunger rate and horrible late game balancing. Now with 1.0, it still has all those things, but you can change the settings to have more inventory space, change the hunger rate, tweak damage, make losing less punishing so getting randomly 1-shot isn't as much of a problem, and there's a Steam Workshop to change anything else you might dislike.

There is a lot to like within Quasimorph. The soundtrack is amazing, there is a large variety of enemies, weapons, classes, etc. that feel unique and viable, and the setting and atmosphere are stellar. With that being said, I cannot recommend the game in its current state for several reasons, but my main gripe is that the after a time, the gameplay loop becomes both repetitive and unrewarding. In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only anarcho-capitalism. Who cares its the end of the world, we got money to make! Many people compare Quasimorph to extraction shooters because of the "go in, do a job, get loot, leave" gameplay loop. But for me it's highly reminiscent of Darkest Dungeon, even the plot is similar to an extent. Get your dudes, do missions, get upgrades to get stronger and do harder missions. Gameplay is similar to XCOM but with only one character at a time…

All due respect, the game is more frustrating than it is fun. "You are as oneshotable as the person you are against" just doesn't work when the game throws enough people to overthrow a government. Whole game core seems fun in theory. But reality is more questionable than it is interesting. There is no reason even for a dystopian super mega planet-ruling corporation to just send 1000 armed men to defend a single floor of a random food production factory? It seems that it just isnt thought…

This game man - this is so close to perfection. I've had it sat in my library for a long while assuming it to be another top down roguelike like so many others, but nah this is special. It's a roguelike which feels like escape from tarkov meets space station 13 meets doom. You are essentially a mercenary taking jobs from the various factions in some form of anarchocapitalistic future where everyone is sabotaging each other to take over planets. The looting and shooting are fun but everything else is more annoying than challenging. There is so much the game does not explain properly that in every other menu you can read something that just adds more questions rather than answers and the atrocious UI doesn't help. Not every patch and system change was an immediate success, but the devs were very receptive to feedback while knowing what makes their game good and fun and were able to stick to their vision. This game is the closest I think we can come to the feeling that Sisyphus had to pushing that boulder up the mountain for an eternity. It is an unforgiving experience that punishes you even when you don't knowingly misstep. I am sure with enough hours and attempts at pushing the boulder up the hill that I'll become proficient at the game. Look, I like a complex, obtuse turn-based game as much as the next guy... as long as all the information I need to play is available inside the game. Constant alt+tabbing to view guides, wikis and videos just to understand basic mechanics and systems is not my idea of a good time. I agree with another negative review that said the systems don't meaningfully affect the gameplay much. The best part of the game is the music, vibe, graphics, progression. The biggest motivation I had was to gear up, create some unstoppable character, max out a class, fully upgrade the ship, etc. Unfortunately, I just dont see how it's going to change the gameplay, which I'm already tired of. The enemies are just really dumb and run into your gunfire one by one until you kill 20 people, like the good old days of Commandos 1. The more I play the game, the more I feel like the difficulty is (for the most part) pretty fair when you understand the systems and enemy characteristics. I think the game's main issue for new players is that some of these mechanics aren't very well communicated, and the biggest offenders here in my opinion are the travel time and faction growth systems. Outside of the turn based missions, the game takes place in a real-time simulation where factions attack eachother and advance their power…

Unlike doom however, on default settings, the game has you abusing a lot of sneaky gorilla like tactics to deal with the difficulty. Tough enemy in another room? One-shots and stun locks against the player seem far too common to be intentional. Redo the tutorial to actually help newer players understand the game and rebalance all the unfair cheese.

Why are objectives LoS based in the defense missions? Was it TOO hard to make them activate when in the same room? In this situation you have the wonderful choice of : A. make a mad dash to the objective to defend it, usually about 3-8 rooms away. keep in mind enemies already spawned and are trying to beat down the doors to get to the objective first so you could realistically die. or B. cut your losses, evac and accept you failed the ENTIRE contract. I have to question the minds of the…

Quasis got me morphin till I Magnum, Actually though. The worst thing in the game is the shock guns, literally remove them, especially the shock minigun, they serve no purpose other than insta killing clones based on luck. Only like 2 factions use them and no other status affects the gameplay nearly as much or are as stupid. But here is a guide to not be baby in case game hard. Scared an enemy will kill you once you go through a door? Shoot door, enemy attracted to bullets impacts and…

I don't understand what is going in this game at all. Is there something on your character that makes enemies know where the hell you are at all times? Why does sneak not work sometimes, I'm really supposed to believe that a room for 8+ enemies made no noise at all when I stood directly outside of it? Why does the enemy not have any self preservation? I'm not talking about the Quasimorphs, robots, etc. I'm talking about the humanoid enemies. You have things like fear, surrender, anger states,…

I don't really know... I really like the retro flavour of the game, but the difficulty balance is a bit off. Getting repeatedly one-shotted in missions on low difficulty is extremely frustrating. Yeah, I know — 'Skill issue!' — but when it happens that often, something feels wrong. I was hoping for a game that was challenging without being this punishing.

Buy it. Suffer. Refund. Buy it again. Suffer. Get good. Realise not really. Can't refund. Love it. Hate it. Love it again. Can't stop playing it.

Don't get me wrong, I like this game. But more a pick-up-and-play game rather than a progressive roguelike. At some point later in the game, you will die, you'll try to recover with the free equipment they give you if you die, and you won't. Just start a new run.

It needs work, it really doesn't feel like a finished game. The UI is very clunky, and its clear that it was put together without much forethought. Its very easy to look at the way the UI is implemented and go "why can't I view the name of these items in the planet/station inventories? Why do you need to open a new window to view not just the sprites of the items but also the item names when going to upgrade your ship? Why is this missing mouseover windows, and why is this other menu or…

Completly unbalanced i was going to wait until the 1.0 release but i have experienced way too much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ recently to really care about that this game is the actual worst aspects of both rougelikes and extraction shooters, meta progression is entirely tied to RNG and no i do not mean the item pool i mean wether or not your goons are going to survive a single fire fight after you reach the 14 hour mark on your (normal it's now hard dificulty after an update, implicitly admitting that it was…

Gameplay is great, but I bought this to play on Steam Deck. Although it's listed as Verified, the menu navigation on controller and some of the UI leaves a lot to be desired. Navigating tabs and moving items are more tedious than they should be. There is no keybind I've found to quickly navigate between tabs, you've got to manually go to the top of each page and select the tab each time. To prepare your inventory before a mission, you must click on each item, select "take", then drag it to your…

Design looks good, execution feels bad. Struggles to find a consistent difficulty curve, and will waste your time with a lack of info and readability.
