What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 263 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (3,886 of 4,719 positive).
Players find RACCOIN highly addictive, often comparing it to Balatro. [1][2][3] Some reviewers feel the game lacks the satisfaction of a real coin pusher. [4][5][6] A few players criticize the balance and excessive reliance on RNG. [7][8][9]

"RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike" by Doraccoon and Playstack is a rare case in which public criticism actually has an effect. The originally shipped version ran a surprisingly elaborate telemetry stack in the background: GameAnalytics fired before the OptIn screen, a newsletter endpoint sat in Google Cloud, a persistent user_id was transmitted even after OptOut, and a local SQLite database buffered events. With patch …

I like playing video games. My wife doesn't. She does like those coin pusher arcades when we go to the seaside. When I saw this game I bought it with the intention of connecting with my wife and sharing one of my interests with one of hers. After playing Raccoin for an hour, I can happily report that she enjoys it very much, and so do I. She has far too much patience and can sit and wait 10mins for a single coin to …

I went into RACCOIN expecting a silly little arcade coin pusher game. You know… drop coin, watch coin fall, brain go happy, dopamine go brrrr. Instead, I somehow ended up in a full-on obsession spiral where I’m sitting 45 minutes deep into a run whispering to myself like a maniac: “Okay… if I drop the TNT coin here, it’ll push the bunny coin, which triggers the multiplier, which triggers the ticket chain, which …

I don't know what drugs they put in this game but I can't stop playing. It feels like getting sucked into Balatro for the first time all over again... can't wait to lose another 300 hours of my life to this game! Worth every penny.

This is basically what happens when someone takes the addictive brain chemistry of arcade coin pushers and turns it into a roguelike. You drop coins, trigger combos, activate ridiculous synergies, unlock upgrades, and slowly turn the machine into complete visual chaos where coins, effects, and rewards are exploding everywhere on screen. It sounds simple, but it is dangerously good at making you say "just one more …

Players who liked RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike talk about addictive gameplay loop with satisfying chain reactions; those who didn't talk about telemetry concerns initially, later patched. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Raccoin received "generally favorable" reviews according to review aggregator website Metacritic. According to aggregator OpenCritic, 81% of critics recommend the game. Reviewers praised Raccoin's addictive nature and the satisfaction of gameplay. Em Stonham, writing for Kyusai, called the game "ridiculously engrossing", and TechRaptor's Austin Suther called the game "immensely satisfying" to play. Other reviewers criticized the game's lack of engagement, especially in comparison to Balatro, with Kotaku's Zack Zwiezen saying that the "latest game to be labeled a Balatro-like isn't nearly as a engaging as that roguelike poker hit". In a review titled "Raccoin doesn't understand what makes…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So yeah, that Raccoin game is fun.
positive · AI labelView post →Another day where I wish for an "Ehh" recommendation. It is a good concept, but missing the "Hook". Raccoin enters the scene with a charming premise: a roguelike coin pusher that clearly aims to capture the addictive, "just one more run" magic of hits like Balatro. And while the aesthetic and the core concept are genuinely appealing. Much of the strategic "gameplay" feels confined to the shop menus rather than the actual coin-pushing action. Instead of the machine feeling like the heart of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. Some reviews will be out there like "its not a real coin pusher game" and I'm like: 1. how many of us actually play coin pushers that wanted a 1 for 1 simulation of that and 2. was everything about this game described to you in the summary and trailers hard for you to interpret that you mistakengly thought this was going to be a real coin pusher simulator? That's like someone buying Balatro thinking it was real poker and all the luck based roguelike elements came out of left…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s a bit hard to describe. Even though it’s presented as a coin pusher game, it’s essentially another Luck Be a Landlord with a coin pusher skin. The game itself is actually pretty well made, but it doesn’t deliver the same kind of fun as a traditional coin pusher. I’m giving it a “Not Recommended” mainly because it didn’t match my expectations. When I was a kid, if I only had one or two tokens left at the arcade, I’d always think about putting them into the coin pusher, hoping to turn a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely love coin pushers (I actually played Dragon Coins), I liked Balatro enough to almost beat the highest difficulty with every deck; I was expecting RACCOIN to be a slam dunk for me. But honestly after winning a run and a half, I've decided i'm probably going to refund this one. I don't fully know what it is but despite the core concept being great and the production value across the board being amazing, I feel very underwhelmed by the gameplay experience. Despite the Balatro…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Where do I begin? I have put an ungodly amount of time into the demo. When the first demo was removed I actually felt like I'd suffered a serious loss. I was ecstatic when the next demo was up. This game is everything. As someone that has always loved the 2p machines here in our seaside town arcades this game scratches that itch in an amazing way. The price for this game is also a pleasent surprise. There is SO much content and so much to unlock. 100's of different ways to win a round. If you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Admittedly I really want to like this but it just feels off. I don't think it's necessarily BAD but I also don't think I'd recommend this to anybody. Feels like it has the same issue as a lot of other recent roguelikes I've played which is the balancing is all kinds of wack. A bunch of the chips just feel useless and the ones that are good just don't feel like they do enough unless you get very lucky. I'm getting kind of tired of these roguelikes where they lean so heavy into the RNG aspect you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Turning on telemetry with no proper notice and waiting for weeks after release to finally turn it off after getting the data they want with no apology for doing so. Note: edited thanks to a developer response to clarify.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a really fun concept, definitely worth a few hours of fun, but it has some big issues, both fixable and unfixable. Overall its pretty close to a would-recommend because of how unique and compelling the gameplay loop is, but right now at least it's not quite there. Balance is a big struggle. I would say "check back later, the balance is naturally gonna be imperfect for such a new game", but the meta-reward milestones are so large (1e20+) that it seems like its meant to be super…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first few runs feel like brainrot but after a little bit, it turns into skilled brainrot. Eventually you'll do what I did and find an infinite, and spend 7 hours on a single run, getting a score of 1.5e3193. At that point in time your brain will melt out of your skull, but it'll be worth it.

neutral · AI labelView post →Raccoin seems like a pretty good game, if only because I can say "Breeding is an overpowered mechanic in this coin pusher"
positive · AI labelView post →It's missing something, it's not that satisfying to play, the big scores feels underwhelming
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game put 20+ hours into the Demo, runs perfectly on the steam deck but I strongly recommend turning down 3d pixelation to low or super low as the standard is too pixelated for the steam deck resolution
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've tried my best but it's just not fun. Another roguelite that shoves an excessive amount of hyper specific effect combinations while also providing no way to mitigate/work around the RNG that you're at the mercy of. 99% of the gameplay is re-rolling the shop hoping you get the hyper specific staple items needed to make a run actually go somewhere, and 1% actually playing the coin pusher. Maybe I'm just too pea-brained to get it, and if it looks fun, go for it. It reminded me far too much…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I see the vision, and I love roguelike games, but it feels like most of the gameplay happens in the shop and not in the coin pusher machine. There's a lack of urgency or importance to doing anything, no decision feels like it matters that much, and I couldn't really get into it personally. The idea sounded fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is well made and functions as it should. It has a cute art style that I can get behind. Overall very polished. Didn't encounter any bugs or anything breaking (Surprising because of the amount of different coin interactions). Props where props are due. The thing is, I can't actually reccommend this in its current state because it just isn't fun. Out of those 31 hours that I've put into this game about 15 of them were just standing there watching stuff happen on the screen. On the first…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love it! But... GAMEPLAY You start with a simple balanced character, but later playstyles get way more specialized and chaotic. At first I had NO idea what was happening, but after a few runs everything slowly started making sense. Of course, I still lose most of my runs (probably 90%), but that’s part of the fun! It’s a roguelike /gambling game. For me, losing is expected, and winning feels amazing when it finally happens. I mostly play this game while watching tv on my laptop, or just…

neutral · AI labelView post →I don't know what i expected, but i expected better. All of this game pretty much feels like you're just the spectator. Sure, you can choose which side the coins come from and choose some upgrades in your runs, but all the important stuff happens outside of your control. It's cute and satisfying but feels like it could run even if you were not there. Edit -> Just found out that all you need to do to win ANY run is: 1. Know which coins are broken in combo or on their own 2. Apply the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, I thought I'd find this as an enjoyable time killer. After my first run, I got bored because I made it past lvl 12, bought everything possible, and yet still lost before completing on the "easiest difficulty." I did it again, and same thing happened again. I'm not saying the gameplay needs to be easier, but 15 rounds is absurd, and there's not much variety in gameplay. It truly feels like it should be a mini-game instead of the main game. If it's your kind of game, then go for it,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who absolutely adored the game in early access, I can't help but say something got lost between the early access build to now. Before, setting up win conditions was pretty easy and intuitive, wombo comboing my way to victory somewhat frequently and enjoying a few rounds into endless. Now? I can't barely make it past round 10 or 11 of 15 without resorting to some unfun cheese/waiting tactic or guide on how to make the new coins work with each other or rolling for god items. Gone are…

I have dumped over 40 hours into the Demo for this amazing game. The FREE DEMO. I can only imagine how much time and attention I am going to end up dumping into this wonderful dopamine simulator. This developer has already shown, pre-release, that their game COULD sell for up to $30 (people would probably spend more) based on its quality, care, gameplay, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Out of my own experience, the first few runs will not feel like you're getting anywhere. The score goal rises too fast and no good combos. But after you've failed a few runs, unlocked some other characters and new things you will get your first snowballing run that spikes your dopamine just the way you want it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In my experience a run in this game exists in one of two states: 1. You have a plan. You're carefully crafting a build, dropping clip coins in specific locations to maximize their in-play time and play around chip synergies, and waiting for the perfect moment to use a prize to maximize its effectiveness. This is a lost run, even on the easiest difficulty. 2. Everything is exploding. One of the coins on the board is worth 2.4e11 and you don't know why. You're buying out the shop not because…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →winning hard doesn't feel fun, it just becomes a chore. If I have a coin worth 3e38 on the board, I just spam buy all the coins in the shop, spam use them the next round and black hole the valuable coin. Winning doesn't make you feel like you've won, it makes you feel like you've gained the ability to skip the game. Since you always want to fill out your consumable clip, there's little feeling of continuity, especially when all the modifiers you can buy on the bottom left of the screen are SO,…

Now I’m sat here negotiating with coins like they owe me money. “Go on… just a little nudge… you KNOW you want to fall.” It’s stupidly simple and fun, weirdly intense, and completely addictive. Every drop feels important and how it can sway the game balance. 10/10 I no longer play the game, the game plays me.

neutral · AI labelView post →There really isn't much to get excited about. It's one of the more boring balatro-likes. You aren't really in active control of the coin pushing and you kind of just watch things happen. I think good balatro-likes let you alter the variable that makes gambling so sad. Like making the heart suit 26 cards or Bingle Bingle in adding a series of black slots. Here you should've been able to mess with the pushing aspect a little more.

Except the skill in balatro has depth where as this is just click button. So no matter what passives and abilites you get it still boils down to very little skill. Gameplay loop is just boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very shallow gameplay. Majority of my playtime was waiting for the machine to push the coins, which can be painfully slow even at highest speed. And even after I beat a round, I was just repeating the same thing over and over again. I tried the "developer cabinet", where you can go balls to the walls and spawn as many coins as you want and use all items, but all that did was reveal to me how basic the gameplay loop is. Not sure if I'm missing something, but I didn't find this particularly fun.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a coin pusher roguelike that requires quite a bit of both skills and luck to beat. I bought this a few months ago and have been playing it on and off since then. It is actually quite a realistic coin pusher to where if you took away all the coin effects and special abilities it would be impossible to profit from it. That of course wouldn't be fun, so the developer added in a lot of different special coins, passive upgrades, one time use abilities and streak rewards to speed up the…
