What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 220 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (394 of 512 positive).
Players find the game relaxing and beautiful but note it is very early access. [1][2][3] Many reviewers request faster travel and a slower or pausable clock. [4][5][6] Some players report bugs and repetitive tasks, while others enjoy the niche simulation. [7][8][9]

I'm reviewing a bit early as I have just over an hour in the game so far, so this review may change. Right now... I'm mildly disappointed. I've been waiting for this game for months. I love simulators, I love nature, so this sounded like it would be my favorite game ever, and even though its in Early Access, I find myself let down so far. Pros: - The game is BEAUTIFUL. I really feel like I'm roaming through a …

Let me start off by saying that I'm an IRL Park Ranger. This game has a lot of potential and I HAD to buy it just to support the very idea of a game about my job and all its quirks. The setting and scenery of the game so far is nice, the missions and mechanics are simple (a little overly so, but it is EA) and while checking permits all the time and getting stopped every 5 seconds to get asked about some random thing …

Bought this thinking I’d casually protect some trees and maybe pet a deer. Instead I became the overworked sheriff, janitor, wildlife therapist, and unpaid emotional support ranger for an entire national park. One minute I’m enjoying the peaceful scenery, the next I’m chasing tourists who apparently think ‘DO NOT FEED THE BEARS’ is just a polite suggestion. The atmosphere is surprisingly cozy, the park looks …

It's an optimistic recommend. This game has a long way to go. In its current state it is definitely fun for the first few hours - the environment is beautiful, completing tasks feels satisfying and I was excited to keep progressing and discovering more of the park. If, like me, half the fun of a game like RDR2 is the time spent between missions roaming the map hunting new plant and animal species, Ranger's Path will …

A missing niche in the gaming industry has finally been filled, and it's been done very well. I'm excited to see how this game continues to progress through the roadmap! The demo was amazing, and the full release is smooth to play and beautiful.
Summarised from 34 of the 232 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 13, 2026. How summaries are made
74% of the 220 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Ranger’s Path: National Park Simulator. The complaint that keeps coming up: lack of fast travel or vehicles. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

The setting and scenery of the game so far is nice, the missions and mechanics are simple (a little overly so, but it is EA) and while checking permits all the time and getting stopped every 5 seconds to get asked about some random thing can be annoying...it's also realistic. That being said, the game is a little…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I spent the past couple years camping every weekend at different parks across the country so during the winter months, this is exactly what I need. But ... You need to slow down the clock. It's forcing us to run everywhere to get the jobs done in time. I want to see cars on the road and I want to be able to stop speeders and ticket them. The trash just appears. One of those visitors put it there. I'd like to be able to see litter happen and cite them for it. In turn, if you wanted to go…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is super enjoyable, if you like cleaning up after guests and repairing things you'll enjoy it. My only complaint is the map is so massive and you can't fast travel anywhere. You have to mostly run on foot but the quests will send you all over the map. You do have a vehicle, but you can only access the road with the vehicle not any of the trails. Real rangers at least have an ATV or something to be able to access those far trails. It would be beneficial to have a halfway point fast travel…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just don't trust Astragon games to be updated anymore after playing a few and most of them never leaving Alpha-tester or meeting roadmap promises.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m honestly pretty disappointed with this game. For the price, I was expecting a lot more in terms of gameplay mechanics and overall depth. As it stands, the game feels very repetitive and the main story missions are extremely mediocre. Most of the time you’re just going around doing basic tasks like fixing signs, spray-painting arrows on the road, picking up trash, and asking people for permits. These activities quickly become boring because they don’t really feel meaningful or rewarding.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developers will not fix extreamly common bug from march, from what I have read i am stuck at the same point the Fury Culpit mission you complete everything & it will not pass you through the mission the menu just sits there. It has been over 3 months of community posting & still no fix. Only option to start game again?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish Steam had a neutral feedback, but at the moment I can’t recommend. I like the game itself, but it is very laggy even after I mess with the settings and makes for an un smooth experience. I also can’t stand it if I’m in the middle of doing stuff far away from my cabin and I can’t get to one of cabins in time, when it’s the next day my character is respawned at the cabin and so I would have to re find where I was before. It’s kinda annoying. I also wish there were more character…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is stunning and as a guy who loves Firewatch and watching movies on forest rangers I enjoyed it. The reason im giving it a poor rating is because after a hour I got bored. You clean, fix signs/benches/maps/etc, and take pictures of wildlife and its just the same thing again and again. If youre in the middle of a main story mission and get a side alert and decline it the voice on the radio will sometimes act like you declined to save a bus of children when it was just cleaning trash on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, I actually do enjoy the game. It is a nice idea for those who enjoy nature, however, at this point I couldn't recommend it. It is definitely lacking content to keep you entertained for longer as it does get repetitive rather quickly. So, here are a few suggestions that I believe could improve the game's dynamics: - I would love to see a couple of companions for the ranger like a ranger horse to ride around and travel faster around trails, and a ranger dog that follows you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UPDATE: So after coming back to try out the game again for another 3 hours it seems a lot of my complaints were addressed. It is however, still more like a handyman/janitor trail maintenance simulator more than anything else. As someone who is involved in conservation I really really want to like this game but it is extremely boring and repetative. This game also does not take immersion and realism very seriously. I wouldn't really call it a simulator. I think this is my biggest issue with this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have been here since beginning of 2026, and have really enjoyed most of the new features that have been implemented over the last six months. However, with the release of Early Access Update 2 lots of the NPC's have been bugging out and are very cleared AI voiced, which makes me sad because how can a game about preserving a national park be using something that is killing national parks :(
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR 30 minutes of unique game experience stretched into 8 hours. At its current state this game is a very expensive demo. Not the reading type? [url=https://youtu.be/DfS4DsZFoUY]Here is YT version of the review. Positives Map design is excellent. Several stand out locations are presented within the a biome. Being surprised by what is behind the next corner was one of the highlights of my experience. HUD design is simple, easy to read and functional. Special nod for using the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you’re listening to someone telling you it works fine on the Steam deck, I’m here to warn you it really doesn’t. Cut scenes glitch out, I’ve had the game crash losing unsaved progress. My last straw was when the main quest that guides you through the storyline glitched. I could not complete it, so I couldn’t move forward in the game. I tried everything to try to un-glitch this stupid piece of trash. My last attempt was resetting my character near the trash and suddenly my character is stuck…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was really excited for this game and had high expectations but there's alot of work that needs to be done. Right now it plays more like a nature walk with a to-do list than a simulator. It feels repetitive by the first hour . It's a little choppy and i feel like the park needs to be more live like especially towards the visitors. repeating the same three lines like they're stuck in a national park Groundhog Day. Also there's no effect from running into animals, they just run away from you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't recommend it in it's current state at least. You can't jump, which is all well and good. Except if you get stuck somewhere you can't get yourself out. The game gives you a prompt to press R if you get stuck except it... does nothing at all... Luckily when I quit and reloaded I was unstuck so that was at least a relief. The game also requires you to sometimes to give directions to guests on where to find certain landmarks or trails. Except the game doesn't mark ANY of the names for these…

It can be very relaxing, the graphics are beautiful and I've enjoyed most of what I've played. There have been a few glitches. I played the demo and liked it enough to buy it when it released. But here are some pros and cons - Pros - Beautiful graphics - Lots of things to look at and see - A lot of animals and plants to take pictures of - Love filling in my lexicon - Very relaxing and interesting Cons - Can be a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am really enjoying this game. It is very relaxing and fun. I do agree with other reviews that say we need more transportation. Most of the game is on foot. It seems like this would be a non issue for me if we could slow down time. The days seem to move too fast. Speaking of time, we need a way to pause it. The beauty of single player games is being able to pause them while we refill our coffee or take a phone call. The menu button does not stop the time from moving. You have to save and exit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am really loving the coziness of this game. I played through the demo first, and I purchased it immediately today when it launched into early access. The game runs well on the Steam deck oled, I have low settings on graphics and it only occasionally has a stutter which is slightly expected for an "unsupported" title but it definitely works and all the button mapping is perfect. I love the whole concept so far, the running around and fixing things and having a ton of quests to do that pop up.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*Game is in early access, so I can recommend with caution. Currently, the game is lacking in features. The pause feature, which is very basic for a single-pllayer simulation, was just recently added. This is evidence of how primitive of a state the game is in, but on the other hand, it is assurance that the game is being worked on and improved. My biggest complaint is the lack of any guidance. I like that there are designated missions, but navigating to the location of the next objective can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would I recommend, at this stage: yes. But only if you like simulation games. I got to Zen out a little and explore, and pretend to be a park ranger. BUT! - At the 7ish hour mark, I stopped doing scenario tasks and just went into maintenance mode, and I got frustrated with how quickly everything gets messy. It wouldn't be so bad if it was a smaller area, but it's a super big space, which means it takes forever to get from place to place. So, I lost that Zen and stepped into frustration. Just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's criminal that this game cannot be paused, add a pause function! Movement speed is painfully slow, no ability to jump or vault over items. Beautiful environment, and a cool idea. The ticketing system could be great, maybe add a rule book that you can use to choose the correct infraction like in "The Precinct", reward or punishment for incorrect choice. Will consider trying again after future updates.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very poorly optimized! I have a 7800x3D and an RTX 5080 and I'm only getting about 70fps on my 5120x1440p display. Turning off features like hardware ray tracing doesn't help at all either. The game is fun and it has a lot of potential but UE5 has ruined game optimization. Until they optimize the game, I can't recommend this game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seemed to have completed the "main story" missions? Have reached level 25 & now only receiving the radio call events to complete (but continuing to level up) That being said, I have binged this game & really enjoyed it so far & I am looking forward to future updates & hopefully some new additions (new outfits, vehicles, maps, animals, missions... being able to stay out in the dark would be great too!) Had a few bugs/crashes but nothing game breaking. Drove into a tree (driving is a bit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great early access beginning. I came across two bugs but after a reload they didn't return again. It feels very relaxing taking care of the park though the mini games require quite some movement with the mouse which can be tough on someone who has issues with their joints and fingers. I am unfortunately in that group so can't play too long at a time. What I miss is a more immersive side of your ranger. Maybe have a bag of food with you to take a lunch break out in the park. Maybe a tent in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I honestly expected more from this game. Since its in early development their is still plenty of time to help balance it out more. This game to me feels like more so a repair man simulator then a national park simulator. I find myself just repairing things 90% of the time. Maybe find some balance and include more things a Ranger would be doing. If you like fixing things a lot go for it but if not maybe wait to buy this game later in development.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm only 4 hours in but its a mildly entertaining time waster. Just seems like a never ending to-do list. Pick up trash and fix signs. If you get bored you can always check permits on everyone you pass. Id like to see a way to travel faster in between sites. On one mission I tracked a racoon for what felt like an hour, just to take a picture of it for HQ! IDK maybe a mountain bike or UTV?? The game so far is alright but i don't see it being something I will invest a lot of time into unless an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you like simulator games you will enjoy this game but my o an issue for me is being so far from the base and not having any way to return other than run which just is not fast enough and the fact you just get a generic model, even if I could just change hair colour or length I would be happy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was cleaning up trash in the game and thought " I could be doing this right now..." and so I did! Now my local trail is cleaner and I got outside. I like this game, gets a bit redundant but the story line missions are unique
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My experience so far has been dealing with the lack of optimization, glitches and bugs. I have no doubt this can become a great game, but at this point it's not going to work well on a majority of computer systems. I thought of returning it but I honestly see a gem in development. I think it's just been released too early so I plan to keep it and see where this one goes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite repetative and a little boring. Driving mechanics are terrible. No ability to jump. Really lacks a robust play style.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoying the game and wandering around fixing stuff etc. A few things I'd like to see added to help improve things: * fast travel back to base, i've wandered around so much and so far when it gets to day end there's no way to rapidly get back to base. * can we camp and/or be able to sleep in structures around the place so again when we're far from home we can still rest, maybe even catch some night wildlife? * introduction of horseback travel to help traverse around more easily? *level…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just like everyone else's review I will say it is a game that I know I will enjoy with animals and beautiful scenery. One thing I feel is missing from this game is a gun. Even if you barely use it, I know for a fac tthat Park Rangers have a gun for safety reasons. Please add it to the game Devs. Work your magic!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A unique, niche simulator game that was missing from the market until now. Thoroughly enjoyed the demo, and the full game feels even more fleshed out. Ran into a bug about an hour in that soft locked me from doing anything (repair function stuck on screen) that made me lose about 15 minutes of progress (my bad for not saving earlier), but some bugs are expected on day 1 of EA. Excited to watch this game develop with the roadmap they have so far!

neutral · AI labelView post →This isn't a park ranger sim. It's a Mr. Fix-it simulator wearing park ranger cosplay. Why aren't we able to have a quad, or dirt bike. The "ranger" should be an Olympic sprinter, or marathon runner with as much running you have to do. Also the mini-games are terrible. If I can carry a handsaw, give me a drill, or screwgun. Are the signs, and picnic tables made of balsa wood? I can't recommend this game, man. I wanted to like it, but can't.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice Game to chill out You do mostly the same stuff and here and then you have to do a nice mission. The Game got beautiful graphics too If you wanted a Ranger game this is prob. for you! recommend this game to anyone who wants a peaceful game to play hours! Playing since release and the bugs gettin slowly fixed so worth to give a try! [Dev Note: Please add the achivements to the game]
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far it's a pretty good game. Its lack luster in content due to the fact that it's in beta. Really beautiful game With amazing sound design but it is buggy. My main concern for this game is astragon Entertainment They are not a good team. They abandoned Police simulator in a half-baked, unfinished buggy mess They abandoned the original firefighter simulator. And I'm concerned that the same thing is going to happen to this game. Where they focus on DLCs that make the game more buggy Never fix…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ranger’s Path: National Park Simulator (Early Access) I would recommend buying the game in its current Early Access state if you enjoy relaxing simulation games and exploration. The park environments look fantastic and the foundation is strong, though the current gameplay loop of opening trails can become repetitive and some mechanics still need refinement. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Background…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one that needs a neutral review as it stands. It's good for a early access game but still obviously needs work. Graphics are great, gameplay is there but does become repetitive over time. There's currently a bug when taking pictures sometimes the camera jerks to one side slightly before or after taking a picture like it's out of sync. The radio missions are way too aggressive constantly bombarding the player with request even when on main missions. One frustrating example I have of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played for 83 minutes after first installing. This simulation is already worth way more than it's cost. It is a relaxing romp in a National Park with fantastic graphics and ambience. The chores, so far, are quite simple and quick to accomplish. I just love walking on the trails while repairing them. Encountered my first bear. This will be one of my favorite games, next to Balatro and Catan. Highly recommended for nature lovers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is still in Early Access, so bear (pun intended) that in mind. There's definitely some room for improvement on optimization and performance, but the core game here is a winner. You play as a rookie Ranger starting off at a new post. Your job is to repair and maintain the park, and enforce the laws. Astragon games always have good attention to detail and fun gameplay loops. This one is really interesting since it has some elements of Police Simulator but in the wilderness. There's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool game just going around a nicely detailed park which feels alive with all the animals & people. Has ok jobs including fixing things to open new trails ,helping people, taking photos of animals plants & locations plus the new ones to search of Illegal items & drone use . There is still more to come so this game will keep improving.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful and fun. Still in early stages, so there are a few little bumps. If you love the National Parks, you'll love this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's pretty basic and the tasks can get repetitive, but it's also early access so that's unsurprising. Very relaxing, the environments are pretty, you get to learn more about certain wildlife and plants and take pictures of them, it's a good easygoing game that gives you some dopamine hits for unlocking the map and making the park look nicer. Hopefully they can better balance the callout to not be so excessive in future updates (you can turn it off entirely, but otherwise the dispatcher pings…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok so for now, I'm really not impressed. Why recommend then? This is the first day of early access and I think the game has huge potential. I'm used to playing early access and likes to be a part of the journey, but if you dont find the charm in seeing a game develop I would suggest to wait to buy (as always wit EA). I'm looking forward to see where this goes, and I feel that this might be the perfect game for me further on. And hey, no help on the way with EA means no right to complain later…

I completed everything, even got a picture of the raccoon, but nothing happened the mission stayed in my list of things to complete and I could no longer access any of my menus. I chased the raccoon for half a day in game and tried to get more pictures, but my character refused to take their camera out. Gave up after that. It sucks becuase i was enjoying the game before that point, but all of it just led to being stuck in an endless raccoon chase.
