Ray
Directed by Taylor Hackford
Born on a sharecropping plantation in Northern Florida, Ray Charles went blind at seven. Inspired by a fiercely independent mom who insisted he make his own way, He found his calling and his gift behind a piano keyboard. Touring across the Southern musical circuit, the soulful singer gained a reputation and then exploded with worldwide fame when he pioneered coupling gospel and country together. From TMDB

It's called the Tex Avery: The Definitive Screwball Classics Collection which will be released on December 1st. As someone who loves Avery's MGM work, this is something I need!

neutral · AI labelView post →I'm sure the movie will be decent and it'll most likely be Skydance Animation's best movie, but I hate how Twitter users are using this movie to criticize Forgotten Island and Hexed because it's not written by millennials. No shit, the concept of Ray Gunn been around way longer than those movies.
neutral · AI labelView post →saying this when the movie got a ride that ran for 27 years, a land that opened four years after its release, a Blu-Ray release in 2009, a 4K Blu-Ray release in 2020, and a documentary series "spin-off" whose name is directly referencing the movie is wild lmao

Just hilarious and joyful and so much fun! Aretha! Ray Charles! James Brown! Cab Calloway! Carrie Fischer with a bazooka! Killing Nazis!
neutral · AI labelView post →That trope is annoying, and Bird's commitment to perpetuating it in RAY GUNN speaks, I suspect, to the fact that this film was conceived thirty years ago and is only just getting made now. Otherwise, RAY GUNN is wonderfully made, with a smart sci-fi noir plot and a zippy, exciting pace.

You wouldn't think Dolly Parton would have been down with some of the things Miley Cyrus got down to, but no, she supported her all the way. I can't imagine Billy Ray ever even watching the video (the song is good on its own though) but Dolly Parton was an angel. Was gonna say article is paywalled because Variety usually is, but the paywall didn't…

Sony, as well as all the other major studios, are still putting out new movie and TV releases every single week as they have for years now. They are discontinuing production of 4K UHD players. BIG difference.

neutral · AI labelView post →While I see moots talking about Star Wars and The Last Jedi. I truly believe the last Jedi would have been a top Star Wars movie of all time if Poe and Finn would just… switch storyline’s. Ray and Kyle story was peak Star Wars. And the other two storyline’s were good, if not miscast.
