Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 102 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (98 of 154 positive).

Players praise the engaging story and challenging puzzles, but note the movement system is annoying. [1][2][3] Some reviewers find the game rewarding for patient players, while others criticize its outdated interface. [2][4][5] The atmosphere and Welsh folklore are highlights, but navigation and item collection frustrate many. [6][3][7]

I just finished this Welsh point-and-click adventure game. You find yourself in a desolate farmhouse in Wales and get to investigate strange ghost-demon related activity there. Let's begin with the fact that it was fun at some times and some of the puzzles were enjoyable. Some moments of the story, too. On the other hand, many of the puzzles were very typical (find a light bulb to enter an unlit room etc.), some of …

First person point and click adventure game (like myst). It has pretty badly rendered backgrounds and the navigation is really awful. You will turn around in circles a hundrets times before you are finally facing a wall/thing you need to.

A lovely but flawed hard adventure game. Would be especially attractive to fans of Myst/Riven. The story is very engaging, and the puzzles are "realistic" in that they are never obvious. There is no hand-holding: it's very challenging. Not quite Riven-challenging, but you better take care to look closely at every clue. The puzzles are fair, but sometimes the clues are extremely subtle. For fans of hard puzzles, it …

I consider Rhiannon: CotFB to be an innovative and clever take on the point-and-click puzzle adventure genre, despite some flaws. I highly recommend it to any fan of the genre, but suggest that anyone who doesn't have a great deal of patience give it a pass. Since almost every positive I have for the game has some kind of negative to it (usually related to the interface), I'll intersperse the two as follows: This is …

This remains one of my all time favourite adventure games. If you enjoy a slightly spooky atmosphere, and enjoy figuring things out on your own (but with a bare bones journal which will help point you in the right direction but does NOT hold your hand) then this is the game for you. Largely overlooked, yet on the same level as Barrow Hill and indeed The Lost Crown, it has a fascinating plot which features a relaxing game play (no running and hiding from enemies) and yet the plot is equally…

I finally decided against recommending it, for there are some things that bothered me in this game, and that I believe should warrant a bad rating. One of the most beautiful point&click I've ever played. I liked it very very much. There are games in which you waste your time wandering wandering around whitout understanding what to do and tring every item on everything, hoping it would trigger something.. in Rhiannon you can procede step by step and only what is really necessary in that moment (the right item is highlighted on the right space). And don't forget the story is awesome, interesting and haunting, Definitevely, you must have it…

I think this is only worth the buy on sale. No matter how much I love adventure point n' clicks and how much patience and tolerance I usually have, in my opinion this game had a great start, an excellent overall setting, but it just failed to deliver. What could have been an astonishing spooky mystery story turned into a hardly believable fantasy novel with zero hand-holding, which all-in-all became boring really fast. You basically just keep running around the grounds, looking for something to…

“Transmutation isn’t what it’s cracked up to be” Rhiannon Curse of the Four Branches is a budget-made, spooky adventure inspired by Welsh folklore and Mabinogion legends, and made by a small team of three developers in an aging Wintermute engine. Story revolves about an ancient curse and a family gravely hit by it, along with a very angry ghost. The entire game is placed on a sprawling farm of Ty Pryderi as you’re trying to remove the dangerous curse and its incorporeal inhabitant, and will…

Items & Inventory: There are many items to find. You cannot add things to your inventory until you need them, so take notes. map: The map is essential. I own the game disc, but bought the Steam version to get the map. Why? Because you need to keep track of where you found items you will need in the future. Also, there are many places to go on the property. Many doors to find. Many plants and trees. Puzzles: They do not feel like puzzles, but like logical situations you are functioning in.…

This traditional adventure game uses Welsh folklore as the basis for a modern mystery. A friend's daughter has become increasingly paranoid, and you've been asked to investigate the cause. It isn't long, before you find yourself trying to break an ancient curse which has been killing for generations. I really appreciate that a fast-travel map was included in the game, as you will be doing a LOT of travelling between parts of the map. Items are not immediately available to take, so you should…

Words are not enough to express my dislike of this game - glitches that cause part of the menu to poof for good; events that seem to undo themselves because you did something out of order... the simple fact that you can do some things out of order is annoying because there are so many you can just not do until the game deems it time. If the item I want is right in front of me, just let me grab it. There were some okay puzzles, but a lot of them were random as heck and nonintuitive or just plain…

While not really bad, there are just too many issues with this game for me to be able to recommend it. If you're an absolute point and click adventure junkie, it's worth buying if it's on sale otherwise, I wouldn't advise buying it. Graphics are passable but look similar to games made in the late nineties. This is also true for the interface. The highlights for me are the ghostly whispering and spooky images that flash across your screen every once in awhile. I know it looks like I haven't played the game, but I finished this edition from a physical copy before I had it in Steam. This is one of my favorite Myst-like adventures. if you can still enjoy the slide show style of movement, and you like a creepy (if not genuinely scary) vibe, try it out. I love the setting and the sound, and once you get over a few quirks in the inventory interface, the puzzles mostly make sense. This game makes me wish I was Welsh.

I just finished the game, and found it an enjoyable experience overall. The plot, while not necessarily very novel, is engaging enough to provide motivation (and a reason) to rummage around the setting and pick up brick-a-brack in true point&click fashion.
